    ZERG QUEST
    Episode XXIII
    AS YET UNTITLED

It is a time of crisis for the ZERG SWARM.
Cerebrate Anon and its mighty Brood have
learned of a secret invasion by the evil
    TERRAN CONFEDERACY, led by none
    other than the nefarious Kingston.

Anon has a moment of uneasy peace as
it awaits the first blows of this invasion.
Its cerebrates still find themselves worried
about Anon's control of Gorn, and its
    sister Kerrigan is still missing.

As Warbrate gathers forces over YOSHUS,
the Brood's fall-back point, Nargil has
turned its attentions to a walrus-like beast
    with prehensile tusks. Meanwhile, Anon
must decide what to do with the invasion
    freighter it has captured...

*camera pans down from space dramatically, showing the underside of a carrier as it floats also dramatically over the very dramatically damaged CGI freighter*

Yarrr. These are dark times indeed.

Surely Kerrigan shall have been watching us as we mentaly blacked out Gorn and will see us as too controling for her psychotic bitchness to accept as an ally so we need to prepare our stunt weapon so that we may keep her from doing something as low as leading a band of Dark templar to our world while we fight Kingston.

We need to ready Bernie for war. I say we contact our little terrorbrate and give em a nice rousing speech regarding why we brought him back. Something along the lines of:

"Child of the swarm. Your father has neeed of you. You are the soul of fear and the heart of terror among the agents of my now crippled swarm, and yet even as we heal we are thrust into war again. It is for this reason I have selected 'you' to take the war to our enemies. Gather your forces, and prepare them for battle in a moments notice, for I am deploying you to battle in the terran core worlds."

Nope. As far as we can tell, there were no transmissions of any kind.

(Alright, seems like the general sentiment is going this way, at least)

We load all of our ground troops out of the freighter, including our newest infested Terrans, before the single zergling left behind restarts the engines. It sets them for overload as it drives the ship into the atmosphere of the planet.

The explosion is spectacular, raining fire over the colony below.

We begin to withdraw, our work here done.

On the edges of our colony on Torpis II, one of our third-wave colonies, tank fire shells our outlying creep colonies.

Torpis II was the last colony in the third wave to get itself up and running. It is a very small colony. It has very little in terms of offensive units aside from a couple sunken colonies and a small group of zerglings. We have begun spawning mutalisks, but they are still in their eggs.

We have overlords patrolling the system around Xenta, but we have never enacted a policy of overlords surrounding our colonies. We've been working from a stealthy stance, recently.

Our overlords on Torpis haven't been outfitted with cloaking devices, as we generally send units to receive those after the colony has become large enough to start producing units for our Swarm at large. Still, we have not forgotten how to use them stealthily, as the Swarm did for many years before our cloaking devices.

Three tanks are moving back out of a siege posture as a group of perhaps 20 marines marches forward to scout for them. Should we continue to watch them? Should we try to find out where they are coming from?

Excellent. Can they burrow and/or move when burrowed?

If so, maybe we can start spawning a few on Torpis II and have them burrow underground. They might not be able to move real quick when burrowed, but at least we'll have a mobile force that isn't easily detectable by sight. Nargil is busy with its griptusk walrus, but it spares enough brain power to tell us offhand that the hatchworms are too large to travel by overlord. Internbrate verifies this, explaining that the overlords cannot maintain air-speed velocity with that cargo. Labbrate theorizes that two overlords could carry it if they had it on a line.

Not only that, but consider that the Confederacy is using pre-fabbed structures, not ones built on-site. That's very dangerous for us. If they clear a landing zone, they can have an entire base with turret defenses set up in less than half an hour. They could strike anywhere, from anywhere.
And the expense! The amount of resources and production going into this means that the Confederacy, truly all of the Terrans, are on a full-war footing.

The cloaklords that arrived in-system are to split up.
Some are to head towards Torpis II to see if there are still ships in orbit.
The others are to begin a sweep of the system, to see if the Terrans decided to stay out of immediate detection range, or if there are ion trails indicating that they already warped out to the next planet.

As for the overlords on the planet, we need to know where the primary Terran drop zone is, so that we can target it. I believe that the loss of an overlord is an acceptable price to pay to get this recon data.
Make sure that the overlords try to stay out of sight of the firebats, though. No need to prematurely warn the enemy.

Warbrate drops overlords into the system to begin capture of the freighter as it jumps the rest of our Zerg fleet to Phelsun.

Our cloaked overlord patrols begin to leave for each of our colonies, as their early-warning system.

The boarding parties meet heavy resistance. Only one airlock was undefended. It seems that the troops on this ship were better prepared for us. After a few minutes, all but two of our parties have been killed, and their overlords have retreated. Gorn takes the initiative to load up more ground troops at Yoshus and sends them for relief. The two teams probably have a few minutes to work before the breach is detected and the Terrans retaliate. How should they proceed?

(Oh, cool. Let's not vote, then. Taking direct control)

We send our troops immediately to the Cargo Bays. We override the controls and open the Bays just as the Terrans begin firing on us. Defending the position is hard, but thankfully, Gorn's troops arrive quickly, and soon the hallway's atmosphere is draining as Zerg pour in. The boarding parties begin their trek toward the Bridge.

Overlords arrive before the fleet in Phelsun. They detect...nothing. The wraiths below have met the spore colony and one of the three was destroyed before the others retreated. Within moments, a team of firebats arrives to attack it. Moments after that, our fleet arrives in orbit. Should they assist Phelsun?

Our overlord over the third-wave colony of Pageo X has just arrived, and detected a freighter with wraith escort. It appears to be moments away from jumping out of the system.

Tank fire resumes on Torpis' defenses.

We pull the cloaked overlord as close to the hull of the freighter as we dare. Employing the very easiest method of tracking, we have it prepare for its own jump and, just as the ship begins to rumble, its engines kicking it out of normal space, the overlord grabs ahold of the hull with several tentacles and jumps to warp with it. The spatial currents drag the overlord along with the freighter, and several moments later, it arrives (rather shaken, but fine) with the freighter above a world we have not seen before. It kicks its cloaking device into action, but we know it probably won't survive long enough for that. We glace at the sky for reference points quickly before the wraith escorts blow it to pieces. Labbrate begins work triangulating the position.

Gorn's boarding parties over Torpis storm the Bridge, tearing Terran forces apart. With that secure, they begin their room-by-room extermination program.

Tank fire on the surface has increased, indicating that more tanks have been dispatched to replace those we destroyed.

Warbrate sends part of the fleet down to Phelsun to destroy the base there, keeping the rest in orbit. It is pretty easy to spot the base from above, and with this large a force, also easy to destroy it with minimal losses for us. We try to keep as much of it in working order as possible as we kill the Terrans. Once more, a dropship attempts to flee the scene, but our scourge intercept it before it can break orbit. Nothing remains of it.

Then get another one, and have it begin salvaging the freighter that Gorn secured. It is also to take control of the forces on Phelsun and begin salvage operations of the Terran base there.

Follow those dropships with something. the base we know of may just be a front line thing. There could be another somewhere.

Do a sweep of the planets if possible. If one of the terran bases has a comstat station make sure to get it intact. It'll make searching out leftover terrans much easier.

Zerg World was a moon. It still took strip mining a solar system to move it anywhere. A cheaper idea would be to just build some terran space platforms.

Toaster is to do salvage; he's the clean-up crew, to make sure that there are no survivors un-Infested and to make sure that all enemy resources are turned to serving the Swarm.

Wormface is to attempt to intercept those drop ships before they warp out, or at least try to follow them. Have him take some cloak overlords for that purpose.

My one fear with eliminating the ruling families, is that we end up killing the stupid ones holding the Confederacy back, and allowing the smart ones to take the reigns and make the enemy not just competent, but actually smart.
    >> Cerebrate Anon 12/16/10(Thu)01:32 No.13169105
Our contact with Bernie is distressing, as always. Its world is a nightmare of horrible things. It seems that it has developed a transparent carapace, so that the internal organs can be seen clearly at various points during...festivities.

It delights at our plan. It begins to rally its forces immediately. We notice a massive sphere being filled with white fluid before being picked up in a sort of hammock by overlords. We refrain from asking about it.

Warbrate's fleet arrives at Pageo, and begins searching for the intruders. It takes less than twenty minutes to ravage the base. There are no survivors. Warbrate is pleased with the efficiency of this operation.

Gorn's scourge intercept the fleeing Terrans. They target the engines of the buildings, letting gravity deal with the rest. They reach the dropships just as they are jumping out of the system. One of them appears to escape more or less unharmed. The other takes a critical hit just as its engines initialize, spreading debris in a straight line that stretches several miles across space. Artisanlord seizes upon this idea, and requests a dozen wraiths for a complex art piece.

Anon has fought off Terran incursions on three worlds, this day. It has disabled half of the remaining invasion freighters, and may have located the last. It has unleashed Bernie and its horrible, horrible brood on the Confederacy!

Tune in next week for Zerg Quest 24: The Rapening!

Have artiasian lord build a memorial to both humanity, the protoss, and the zerg. Design it so that each is of a major significance, where they are protecting each other, from an unkown threat.
