    Chap 2 Pt1: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12385200/

You jump off the rock, slicing several daemons in half. Caramel rushed forward, Eden tossing something in her direction. She caught it midair, the sollex blade appearing with a loud hum.

Caramel attacked the acid daemon, the blade cleaving the daemon apart, the acid doing nothing to the immaterial blade as its fluids gushed out over the ground. Caramel managed to get out of the way before the acid hit her, the jump pack firing, up with a scream, sending her rocketing into the air.

Eden leapt, stretching and twisting, bloody protrusions of sharpened bone erupting from her body, stabbing one of the lesser daemons through the eye. She kicked off of it toward the cloud, her body spiraling through the air.

Elizabeth followed quickly, promethium swirling around her, singing her hair and eyebrows. You had no idea how she endured such heat without her skin blistering. She must have burned half the visible scavenger daemons in the area, and there wasn't a hive daemon in sight. The remainder of the creatures hesitated, unsure if they want to attack.

Ok, I'll take your plot hook. I'm not sure if Elizabeth knows how to move around in the warp, so Esme will probably have to grab her before flying off towards the cloud.

Intimidate the remaining deamons before kicking off.
"Get thee hence from this place foul things! You will find no easy prey here. We are the messengers of the God Emperor, and we bring his tidings of HOLY PURGING!"
Then, skeedadle with a final parting shot and make for the dust cloud
"Sister Elizabeth- it's ninety percent mental! Just think of where you want to go and push. We're heading for the clouds on the horizon!"

Oh, shit, sollex blade is back! Hee- perfect!
Alright, head to the Warp cloud- try to put some distance between us and any other deamons we see. We don't have any far range support at the moment, and I don't think it would be wise to switch out again until we're in the cloud

Many of the Daemons scattered, a few others moving back, keeping a safe distance.

Elizabeth moved quickly to follow, not quite steady yet. She managed to catch up with some difficulty, Caramel flying over, guiding her by the arm.

After a few minutes of fast flying you all began to relax a bit. The scavenger daemons kept their distance, following you slowly.

"I have no idea what's in that cloud, you know..." It was Eden. "We better be prepared for anything." She glanced back at the daemons. "Ugh... Vultures... They figure we're the strongest things here... They want the scraps if we kill something."

mmm, maybe they would come in handy. If we sufficientlly weaken an enemy, they'll go in for the kill, rather then us having to finish it off.

"Alright. That's a little unsettling Eden but, I doubt that whatever we find within the cloud banks, we won't be able to over come it somehow. Something to keep in mind. As long as the scavenger deamons don't attack us, we'll just ignore them. Right now we have more important things to worry about." I look over the group. I take time to make sure each is okay- especially Caramel. The last thing any of us want is her deamon breaking through its bindings. "Elizabeth, How are things going back in the realspace."

I gently pat out the flame on one of Elizabeth's purity seals and give her a cheeky grin.
"Your zeal is most...impressive, Sister. We may need to trade you out when we get into the cloud, however, depending on what we will be facing."
I also give Caramel another of the dreaded hair ruffles, and ask,"And how do you like your Emperormas present from Eden? You handled that acid daemon quite well."
Finally,I turn to Eden and ask"Will they survive entering the cloud? I really don't like to have a pack of daemons on our heels. Also, how will we be able to tell if you can pierce the warp and bring back supplies or people?"

Eden nodded. "My thoughts exactly. They wont likely follow us into the cloud but having a swarm of daemons at our heels should keep most things away. We *might* be able to get them to go into the cloud if we go out of our way to feed them though."

Elizabeth brushed the ash from the burned purity seal off her shoulder, picking at the melted wax. "Ohhhh.... Galatea will be so mad that I've burned them all again...Hmm What were you saying? Back home?" She cocked her head. "Pretty badly. Tessa is enjoying her new chainsword a *bit* too much and the daemonette is... Aren't they supposed to seduce people? All this one does is attempt to be cute... and it works..."

You tap her shoulder to bring her back to reality.

"Oh! You mean the battle! Hehehe..." She grinned. "These new daemons burn as if they were pre-drenched in promethium. Saw some hive daemons too, but they were bigger and had the legs of a toad. Quick bastards too... I don't mind being traded. More to burn back in the shrine anyway."

With all the daemons you just faced, you'd hate to think of what the shrine looked like.

Caramel slid up next to you, the sollex blade on her hip. You ask her how she likes it.

"I am not worthy of a weapon of this magnitude. I shall treasure it and use it to the best of my ability." She twitched a bit, holding her head. "Forgive me... The daemon inside me is making a fuss. It wishes for me to flee this place, away from the cloud... More specifically it knows I cannot escape and wishes for me to return to the real world to show the remaining sisters a 'good time.'" She looked a little ill. "The heresy it fills my head with..."
    >> His Divine Wrath 12/27/10(Mon)17:33 No.13311087
    >>13311081

You quickly move on, not wanting to press the subject and ask Eden when she'll be able to get new companions and weapons from the real world.

"I'm not sure. I'll know it when I feel it. The deeper we go in, however, the more rare these places will become." She looked at the cloud. "You'll feel it too. A blank spot in the god's realm. Standing in one and focusing on me will tell me you need me..." She looked at you. "Also, remember, just as this area of the warp is driven by thought, the realm is too. It will not be as free as this area, however, but several people focusing on one thing can change it. For example, you may be able to create a door where there is none. Not from scratch, however. Merely alter what it is that you see. The more the god awakens, the harder this will become. Use stealth when possible and move as quickly as you can... Also..." A large object traveled through her arm, appearing in her hand. A vortex grenade. "The inquisitor wanted you to have this. Not sure what it will do from inside the warp... Most likely cause some horrible warp distortion and displace a huge chunk of power. I'm also going to guess that it is guaranteed to malfunction in here and cause catastrophic damage to everything around it. If you want to use it, I suggest running as fast as possible if you do."

You see some hive Daemons a distance away and a few suspicious rocks below you. More scavengers had joined the swarm at your tail, some of them getting uncomfortably close. One of them, a jet black, slimy, webbed thing roughly resembling an octopus zipped by your side, catching a much smaller scavenger in its mouth, crunching through its exoskeleton before resuming its path a meter or so below you.

you mean if "no" who shoudl we take instead.

I say keep eden until we get into the cloud but switch out Elizabeth for one of the Canonesses, Tessa, or Evangela. You know, a heavy hitter.

I think we should also kill a few more daemons and toss them to the vultures. with a horde of daemons at our back we might be able to deal with enemies more easily though i'd assume this would remove all stealth while they're with us.

I mean... If things get to dicey we can just let the vultures fight and slip away during combat. there. We are now stealthed.

once we're inside, let the pain strider look around and then switch her out for someone. Anna preferably if she is doing better. either that or just tell her to go get the sister with the most dakka

Eden looked thoughtful. "It seems to me we have a couple of options. If we can weaken the chaos god enough, then the other four will be able to consume it... We also might be able to make it dormant again. How we will do either, I do not know."

A few other daemons flew up, joinging the swarm of vultures. they were getting restless as you neared the cloud, chirping and drifting this way and that like a school of fish.

"I suppose this wouldn't be as glorious if it was easy, huh?" I mutter.
Noticing the agitated daemons, I quickly dispatch a few of the more daring ones that are flying near the group.
As the corpses drift into the school, they are quickly ripped apart and consumned.
Hopefully this will keep the daemons with us, as they could very well prove useful in this coming battle. We will need whatever advantages we can get.

Also, I think that we should switch out Elizabeth for Florencia, and once we are in the cloud and have scouted for a while, call in either Sonja or somebody with a heavy bolter.

It seems the general concensus is to quickly kill a few more daemons, probably with our swords to ensure that the scavengers actually have a meal. This would hopefully keep the things around as a potential distraction or attack dog.
We want to trade out our dear pyromaniac for Florencia right now, and once we have scouted around, we are want to trade Eden for a heavier hitter.
Also, avoid using large flashy powers at this point. We don't want to wake the beasty yet.

(while I do prefer first-person posts, if it will increase posting frequency and if you guys just cant think of anything, you can post differently for Esme. Mainly because how she words things will not affect how much people like her or not, therefore me writing in dialogue will not affect your outcome as it did with Delessa.)

You increase your speed toward the cloud, glancing back at the swarm at your heels.

"Caramel! Elizabeth. Go kill some hive daemons for our friends back there."

    They give you questioning looks.

"We have what equates to a hungry neutral army following us. Feeding them may tip the scales in our favor."

The two nod, understanding, and dash off. Caramel is faster than Elizabeth and reaches a hive daemon first, hitting it with her sonic pistol. Even at that distance your teeth ached from the high frequency blast. The daemon got it worse, the little creatures living in it stunned or killed by the noise. Before it could recover, the tainted sister bisected the creature vertically, moving on to the next with amazing speed.

The swarm was on the corpse in seconds, fighting over the drifting chunks of meat.

Elizabeth had a similar experience, the creatures devouring the burning flesh of the hive daemon, the sister barely escaping before the hungry swarm descended.

This process repeated for every visible hive daemon in the area, you yourself reaching a few before either of the two sisters. A quick stab and a surge of the blade's force properties was all it took to kill the creature and those living within it.

When you reached the cloud, the swarm was a bit smaller from the fighting, but they surged around you with no fear, excited for their next meal.

You stop at the edge of the slowly advancing wave, turning to Elizabeth. "I'm sorry Elizabeth, but I need Florencia right now." She nods, saluting you. "Good luck."

Eden gently grabs Elizabeth, vanishing with a crack of power. Roughly a minute later, you feel the energy around you bend, the strider returning with the hammer happy Canoness.

Florencia opened her mouth to say something but stopped short, her eyes drifting around. She immediately went for her daemon hammer. "GREAT TERRA! DAEMONS EVERYWHERE!"

The swarm didn't react to her shout, merely continuing their pattern. She hesitated when she realized they weren't attacking, her eyes huge as she glanced around.

(Oh I almost forgot to tell you. Different combinations of party characters may offer different bonuses to dice rolls other than what was stated. You'll have to experiment to find out what they are though)

"It's alright Florencia. Ignore them for now- they won't attack us as long as we don't attack them.
There will be time for righteous smiting later, for now we have bigger warp spawn to purge with holy fire." I say, giving the older canoness a shy smile. Even though she seems to respect me, the orders of rank instilled over a lifetime make me worry. I hope I will have her approval in the course to follow.
"Now, to the warp cloud ahead. Be careful, Canoness- we know not what will lay within, merely that it is the center of the awakening gods growing power. We must be cautious now, lest we speed his birth and gain unfavorable attention."
I watch the sisters and Eden, waiting for Florencia to adjust. "Are we ready?"

"Forgive me exalted martyr... I... I have not received orders from a fellow sister for 50 or so years." She glanced at the daemons, the corner of her mouth twitching. "Forgive me for any insubordination I may show. Too many years with stupid, impulsive novices. To be taught humility by one such as yourself will be a gift from the emperor himself."

You turn to Caramel. "How do you feel? How are you doing on ammunition?"

The tainted sister looked at you, looking back down at her sonic pistol. "It doesn't run out of ammunition... Its powered by my suit. My jump pack could use a bit more fuel but as long as I don't have to fly around this place any more, I'll be fine." She was quiet for a moment. "Honestly though... I'm kind of scared..."

You nod, turning to Eden. "We're ready."

The strider nodded reaching out and wrapping an arm, or a leg, around each of you, making Florencia flinch. "Don't want to lose anyone. Hold on tight!" and dove through the cloud.

The cloud itself was thick as putty, though you found your breathing unhindered. Lightning cracked all around you, a sound akin to nails on a chalkboard filling your mind.

As quickly as it began, it stopped, you and your party tumbling onto hard, cracked stone.

For a moment you thought you might have gone deaf, feeling a small pang of relief as your armor scraped across the ground. You slowly stood, looking around. You were standing on a road at the edge of a dark forest. Everything was silent save for the hum of your powerpacks. Letting your eyes wander, your gaze followed the road to... what looked like an old abandoned city, covered in a light dusting of snow. The lack of decay of the structures themselves suggested that the buildings had not been abandoned for long.

You shiver a bit, finding yourself cold, an icy mist drifting around your knees and ankles. though it didn't seem hostile. You could see your breath.

A faint chitter breaks the silence. You look up quickly to see part of the swarm. They were drifting lazily overhead, their eyes glittering in the faint light. Either only a small part of the swarm followed you through, or most of them were lost or scattered upon entering the new realm.

You shivered again, though this time not from cold.

Eden was already looking around, her voice making Florencia jump, her armor rattling a bit. "This is what i'm looking for." You walk up to her. She's pointing to a small patch of melted snow. The mist seemed to dissipate as it hit the area. Looking directly at it gave you a bit of a headache.

Eden walked forward, standing in it. "Mmm 's warm." She looked at you. "This is a gap... A tear in the chaos god's realm. I can easily jump through these. They appear as places where the overall... theme... of the god is broken. They also tend to make non-warp entities who stare into them ill. Not as ill as staring into the eye of terror, but it is the same principal."

Florencia shivered, drawing her daemon hammer. "I don't like this place... Exalted Martyr?"

You glanced back at her and did a double take. There was a small, dark log cabin about a hundred paces into the trees behind her. Was... that there when you arrived? It would be certainly easy to miss...

"Would you like me to go get someone new?" Eden tilted her head to the side, still standing in the tear. "I'll have them bring some fuel for Caramel's jump pack."

The fact that some of the swarm didn't make it through fills me with dread.
I quietly whisper the Prayer for the Lost and Endangered, and ask Eden,"Where is Caramel? Did you feel her pull through the barrier with the rest of us?"
I tentatively reach out with my mind to see if I can feel her soul. The poor woman has gone through so much, I can't let her down now.

If no response from either of those, then I suppose we move towards the house on guard. Either that, or listen for Caramel's powerpack and armour.

You reach out to Caramel with your mind. You sense her faintly in the direction of the cabin. She's out cold but the daemon inside her is still aware. It seemed confused.

Eden's voice dropped a bit. "Should I go get someone?"

Florencia was tense, turning in tight circles, clutching her daemon hammer a bit too tightly. "Th-this place... the cold is seeping into my mind."

You felt a chill down your spine, the hair on the back of your neck raising.

Well, this needs some discussion. I'd say either Sonja or the inquisitor lord would be useful at this point, though I am leaning more towards Sonja.
We definately need somebody with ranged capabilities, though.
Also, Caramel may need to be traded out. She is a powerful character, but I don't want to risk her being hurt once the daemon powers start flying.

I give Florencia a stern look.
"What are you, a novice on her first mission? Calm yourself, we need to rescue one of our sisters. I sensed her near the cabin."
The chill is worisome, but Caramel's safety is the most important factor right now.
I tell Eden that we will change her out for *person we choose* once we get Caramel. I order the two to follow swiftly and cautiously, and we set a quick pace for Caramel.
I know this is probably a trap, but I will not sacrifice her to avoid a threat.

Eden slipped out of the tear and walked to her side. "This realm was clawing at her mind. She'll be alright once she grows more accustomed to the warp and its dangers."

Florencia shrugged her off angrily, turning her face away.

Eden shook her head. "You said Caramel was that way, right?" She gestured to the cabin.

The Canoness wiped a bit of sweat from her brow, steeling herself. She was totally focused.

Eden moved quickly and silently, her eyes glowing faintly in the dim of the trees. "I've been attempting to psykicly find out anything about this place. All I know is that it passively read our minds when we entered... More like "pinged" actually. I'm not surprised. Realms draw the thoughts of their inhabitants and shape themselves accordingly." She glanced at you. "... It also means that whatever happens may end up being a bit more... focused... than the conventional daemon attack."

You stop outside the cabin. The wood was heavily water damaged, and then frozen. A fine layer of mildew had been preserved under the ice, giving the structure a warped, decayed look. The windows were boarded up, but there was a very faint glow coming from beneath the door.

The swarm followed some distance behind, keeping to the trees.

Eden gave you an incredulous look. "I can twist the flesh I have, But my bones stay as they are. I can repair and regrow them if broken, but I cannot flatten them."

The corner of Florencia's mouth twitched and she pushed you back. "I'll go in first! If anything happens to you, there is no hope of victory!" Power armored boot met wood, the door snapping off its hinges under the force of the strike.

The huge piece of wood made a dull thud as it hit the floor, kicking up a fine layer of dust and revealing the room beyond. Water damage inside was minimal but the dust... There was dust everywhere. Thick Cobwebs nearly covered the entire ceiling, draping down and entangling themselves in the antlers of some huge stuffed animal head. The furniture, what little there was, was warped and fraying.

A small sound caught your attention. You turned quickly to see Caramel. She was curled up on the rug in front of the brick fireplace. The faintly glowing coals were the only light provided for the room, casting heavy shadows on everything around you.

You strain your eyes a bit, looking around. There were two other doors in the room. One against the far wall, the other on the wall to your left. A third room, a kitchen, was also visible on the far wall, though the entryway had no door.

Florencia stepped inside cautiously, holding her daemonhammer high, the electric blue light helping to illuminate the darker corners of the room.

Just because the daemon is bound, that doesn't mean it can't take control.
The daemon is bound to caramel, we can't get rid of it. Caramel regained control due to threats from delessa. But we never did anything to prevent the daemon from regaining control.
I also fail to see how being confused prevents the daemon from being in control.
I may be misinterpreting the wording, but the way I see it, we can't just rule out the possibility that we are talking to the daemon that possessed caramel.

"I found Caramel. She's fine... I think... Unconscious. I didn't try to wake her yet..."

Eden glanced back inside the bedroom, fidgeting a bit. "I didn't check the other door. Didn't have to... We should just take Caramel and go..."

You feel another chill as if someone was watching you.

Sodding hell, this is just getting better and better.
"Eden, is there anything in the kitchen?" I inquire.
"Try some of those doors as well, we never know if there would be anything useful behind them." I add. Even if there would be a trap behind them, she should be able to take the damage with little effect.
"Florencia, I am going to look for Caramel with my mind. Guard over me while I concentrate."
The daemon had made it clear that we weren't going to find Caramel by looking with our eyes, so we would have to make do with my psychic powers.
I slow my breathing, and quietly chant a litany repeatedly to focus myself. I feel my mind pick up the flow and contors of this realm, and I begin to look for Caramel's mind.

If we can't pull this off, we might want to try trading Eden for either the farseer or some of the warlocks. They would have more experience with this kind of thing.

"I am going to wake her now, Eden. She could be of great use if we get ambushed on our way out."
I pause, and add as an afterthought,"I know you are nervous, but could you please check the other door? I don't want any surprises when we make our escape."
As she leaves the room, I turn to Florencia and ask, "Please guard me as I wake Caramel. I might have to use my powers to wake her, and Eden might spring a trap. I can't afford to be interupted."

Eden hesitates before slipping off to check the other door, looking rather unhappy about it.

Florencia followed you in. "We should make haste... We have to find a way to destroy this new god before it destroys everything..."

You move next to Caramel, placing a hand on her shoulder and giving her a gentle shack. Almost instantly she sits bolt upright, shouting fearfully in high gothic. She looks about the room before finally calming down, letting out her breath and wiping away the sweat that had begun to form on her brow.

"F-forgive me..." Her voice was weak. "Waking us has always been... Back in Slaanesh's realm... Let's just move on..."

She slid off the bed just as Eden poked her head in the room. "The other door leads to a moss covered stone basement or cellar. There are odd sounds, a faint glow, and a foul oder coming from it. I'm not going down there."

A shadow flickers behind Eden... Or was that your imagination?

I nod appreciatively towards Eden, and give Caramel a quick reassuring hug.
"Alright everybody, time to move. Form a wedge, we are moving towards the breach in the god's realm."
"Florencia, please take point, Eden in the center, Caramel and I on the flanks."
The women quickly fall into formation and we move towards the entrance of the house.
The constant shadows at the edges of my vision make me nervous, so I expand my aura as much as possible without hurting Eden or Caramel.
As we move, I take Caramel's hand and give a brief squeeze and ask"Is the proximity to this new god making it harder for you to control the daemon inside you? Please be truthful, I need to know if you are able to go on."

Once we get to the place, we will probably have to trade out Eden, and possibly Caramel depending on how she is feeling.

You pull Florencia and Caramel in close, looking suspiciously at Eden. Florencia seems to have the same suspicions as you, stepping forward.

"How do we know you're the REAL Eden?"

Eden cocked an eyebrow, twisting her body into an odd spiral. "Because I can do thi-"

Just as you were about to ask a question, Florencia charged, smashing the Pain Strider's chest in with her daemon hammer, obliterating much of her upper torso. Amazingly, Eden managed to stay on her feet, her body cracking and sloshing as it repaired itself.

She punched Florencia in the face the moment she had use of her arms. "BITCH! Just because I can regenerate does NOT mean that it DOESN'T HURT!" She paused for a second, catching her breath. "And while I can be a bit of a masochist, this is hardly the time or place."

You ask Caramel how she was feeling, making her wring her hands a bit. "We should focus our energy on the task at hand... The daemon is a mental distraction, nothing more. All it wishes is for me to leave this place." She straightened up, checking her weaponry. "Should we investigate the basement or leave it?"

You saw several more shadows flicker, goosebumps raising on your arms and legs.

Florencia held onto her bleeding nose, glaring daggers at the strider as she slung her hammer. "I say we move on. I dare-say I've had enough of this... place..."

Esme feels another shiver running down her spine, although this one doesn't seem to be the doing of the realm.
"Caramel, your daemon seems to be... leaking. Or Delessa has started to rub off on me." The Exalted Martyr sighs loudly, pinching the bridge of her nose for a short moment. A near silent prayer escapes her lips. "Emperor, protect me from any further visions of sector Tiji. At least until my work here is done."

    >Concerning the rest of the posts.
"Okay, I trust your judgement Eden. Let's get out of here - I don't like the way the shadows seem to be moving in the corners of my eyes." Esme moves quickly to leave the Cabin, all the while keeping her eyes on the rest of the group.

After arriving outside the cabin, Esme addresses Eden again. " Why did you refuse to go downstairs? A bad feeling or did you notice something? Do you think there could be anything important in that cellar?" The Exalted Martyr seems to be still undecided if she should risk exploring the cabin's basement - however - time is short, there are sisters dying while the group isn't progressing.

(this right here. This is why I love you /tg/)

your companions give you odd looks as you mumble to yourself, finally following you as you decide to exit the building. It was Caramel that first broke the silence. "Don't be too put off by it. The warp does odd things to mortal minds. Though, I guess I would hardly call you mortal at this point... Regardless my daemon is in tact and in place."

You ask Eden about what she saw.

Eden's jaw tightened, a bit of venom leaking into her voice. "Well, I don't know, let me think on that. We are in the realm of a chaos god full of daemonic horrors and eldritch abominations and, without any backup, I find a door to a basement that looks more like a dungeon with suspicious sounds coming out of it... Yeah that pretty much covers everything."

She huffed, walking back over to the tear. It was a bit smaller than last time, though not significantly so. "Who shall I switch out?"

You hop behind an aged cobblestone wall. Eden quickly climbs a tree, stretching herself out among the branches. In the low light she looked like any other part of the tree.

Caramel found refuge behind the abandoned husk of some sort of land vehicle. Florencia crouched down near the other end of the wall.

The swarm moved this way and that chittering and swaying. You grow tense as a shape emerged. It was long and snakelike. It moved with a grating ease over the barren streets, a forked tongue flicking in and out. It paused as it reached the spot they had been not a moment before.

There would be no hiding from this thing...

I whisper a tense command to Caramel over the vox. "Hit it with your pistol. Draw it to you, and we'll carve into it from the flank."
She opens up with her sonic pistol, drawing the beast's attention to her. The screech it emits sets my teeth on edge, but hopefully the daemon is catching the worst of it.
I slide up to Florencia, and whisper into her ear,"Not yet. Wait until it pulls near Caramel, then we can both smite the damn thing."
I rest my hand on her pauldron, both to comfort her and to restrain her, and tensely wait until the perfect moment to strike.

Caramel lashes out from behind the ruined wall, her gun shrieking as the powerful vibrations ripped through the air. It screamed and writhed, knocking you and the Canoness back with its tail.

In response to the attack, twin rows of luminous patters flared on the snakes back and sides, bright enough to illuminate its grotesque form. It had an enormous underbite, its teeth looking more like juts of jagged, poison-steeped bone, protruding out from its oversized maw.

In addition to the lights on its back, several shone under its skin, illuminating its internal organs through the translucent scales on its underbelly. You could see a faint shape writhing in its stomach struggling to escape as it rose up to face you, letting out a menacing hiss. It coiled back defensively, ready to strike.

I pull Florencia to her feet, and tell both sisters over the vox to avoid striking the body inside the snake.
I have to say this. This is simply too perfect. "STRIKE FROM THE SKY, SISTERS!"
As the women lift into the air on columns of flame, I charge towards its head, my own radiance flaring to combat the daemon's glow.
"Smite the foe! Smash the enemy! For the Emperor we bring death!" (Incantation of battle. I love the Uplifting Primer.)
As the beast launches itself towards me, I dart bast, raking its side with my claw, followed by a harsh hack with my force blade.

Your claw grates against its scales, leaving deep scratches in the natural armor. It screams and twists to face you as you slice into it with your force blade.

Before it could strike, Florencia smashed the side of its head with her daemonhammer. Caramel came down behind it, lopping off a good bit of its tail with the sollex blade.

Enraged, the beast whipped around, its jaw finding Florencia's torso. You could hear her armor bending as the snake picked her up, the Canoness pounding the snake's neck several times with her daemon hammer, though it lacked its usual power swinging it one handed.

I then thrust my sword into the side of the head that Galatea struck at.

Cursing the canoness' seeming inability to follow any kind of plan, Esme nevertheless moves quickly to free the woman from the daemon's grasp.

Knowing she'll have to free her as fast as possible, Esme ponders whether to strike that musculature holding that thing's jaw in place or aim directly for its brain.

"Caramel, I can probably not reach its head in time, try to cut off that things lower jaw."
In the meantime, Esme concentrates on causing that thing as much pain as possible, hoping that this will cause it to open its jaws.

(Galatea is the one that follows plans. Not Florencia. Think of it this way. If she wasn't a sister, she'd be an eversor.)

You change tactics, jumping in the air and grabbing onto the snake daemon's neck with your power claw, force blade in your other hand. The creature's scales were tougher than dreadnaught armor, but quite a bit more flexible. your grip constricts the creature's airways. It thrashed about, shaking both you and the canoness like rag dolls as you screamed orders at Caramel.

The tainted sister's jump pack fired with a roar and with more precision than you thought possible for a human, rocketed just under the beast's head, her blade severing the lower jaw.

The crash of power armor against concrete was muffled by the snow. Regardless of her wounds, she quickly rolling away from the serpent and grabbing her daemonhammer.

This was unessisary, however, as you swing yourself forward, ramming your force blade up through the beast's soft pallet. It squeals in pain, trying once more in vain to throw you before collapsing to the ground in a messy heap, thick blue-black ichor gushing from its wound, turning the snow around you into a sticky slush. You examine the daemon more closely. Its forehead bore the same mark as on the chapel wall. Whatever was in its stomach no longer appeared to be moving.

Out of the corner of your eye you see Florencia. She had stripped off her power armor from the waist up, clutching at a bleeding wound in her stomach.

Eden rushed to the Canoness's side forcing the elder sister to move her hand, examining the wound and then her now-smoking powerarmor. "Wound is from her armor being bent. Snake's teeth didn't pierce through."

At the same time, Caramel rushed over to the creature, slicing it open with her sollex blade, a large creature falling out onto the ground. It did not appear injured, having been swallowed whole, its matted fur drenched in stomach fluids. And not a moment too soon. The swarm descended on the corpse, stripping it to nothing but scale and bone within a matter of seconds.

At first you thought the rescued creature was dead until it coughed once and opened its enormous black eyes. It appeared to be white-ish in color with four stubby paws with claws that must have been several inches long at least. The rest of its features were concealed in a mass of long fur that would have probably been nice to feel had it not been soaked in foul substances.

Eversors are supposed to explode only once, when their heart stops. Florencia is practically exploding all the time - for one reason or another.

"Thanks Eden, I'll be with you in just a few moments."
Esme begins to inspect the strange creature, at all time aware that this thing might just be another mindless predator of the warp.
    "Are you able to communicate?"

    >Good, now we have a legitimate reason to switch out Florencia. I'd say way send her and Eden back as soon as possible, Fortran should be able to fix the canoness' armour. That should get her out of our her for some time. Otherwise, I'd say we should have Eden take as many scales with her as possible. If they're stronger than dreadnought armour, they might be useful.

    >No idea why I hit submit, wasn't done with my reply.

Once Esme is done with the creature - or at least knows that it won't attack - she walks over to Florancia.
"Let me see that." She carefully inspects the wound on the woman's stomach. "Hmmm, not as bad as I had feared." Esme gently lays her hand on the wound, concentrating to heal Florencia enough to be transported back to the materium, using as little of her powers as possible to not attract any undue attention.

"Eden, do you sense any points nearby where you Florencia and you might return to Ophelia VII?"
Sensing the canoness' complaint, Esme speaks to her before she's even able to voice it.
"You know you can't fight without proper armour and your wounded." Pause a moment. "You know I admire your zeal to fight in His name but you'll be of more use if you concentrate on healing your wound. The sooner you're ready for proper combat again, the better."

Before moving out, Esme moves close to Caramel.
"Thank you, we would have lost her without your help." The Exalter Martyr lays a hand on the young sisters shoulder. "I'm glad you decided to remain in His service - you know, I'm grateful He gave me the chance to get to know you." Spontaneously, she pulls the possessed sister into a tight hug. "Don't worry, your doing very well. I'm immensely proud of you, and I think even Florencia is impressed by your prowess."

Finally fed up with the Farseer's attitude towards "mon-keighs", Delessa manages to bet her that she couldn't pass herself off as a human noble for a single evening. Already on a routine mission the check on the ruling houses of whatever world they're on, both of them attend a ball in the mansion of the world's governor.

It could end with Delessa freeing the Farseer just before the corrupt nobles sacrifice the innocent guests to chaos, it could end with everybody growing more and more suspicious of their strange guests and finally declaring that they can't be a nobles - Clearly! Delessa must be the daughter of a high lord of Terra and the Farseer therefore her handmaiden.

You leave it for now, moving to tend to Florencia's wounds, the Canoness scowling the entire time. She did not turn down the help however, her body healing rapidly from your blessed aura.

Caramel had fired up her jump pack, melting and warming a large area and was attempting to keep the creature from freezing to death. She kept her eyes downcast, no doubt feeling unworthy of your equal treatment of her.

Eden walked up to you, pointing. "There's a portal over there. Who would you like to trade? Are there any supplies you need other than jump pack fuel? I'm also going to take those scales back with me if you don't mind. They might come in handy." She glanced down at the creature, frowning. "Do... Be careful... I have never seen such a creature before. The daemons that appear this deep in the warp are either numerous or fearsome in order to survive. And this is the only one of its kind I've seen."

"If you don't mind Exalted Martyr." The Canoness pipped in. She was shivering. "Might I... retire until my armor is repaired? I can smite alien and daemon alike, regardless of my gear, but this biting cold will be my undoing."

I think we should tell Eden to bring back Anna (if she is better now) and Tessa. If not Anna then Rodwen.

    The twins could work too.

I know Caramel's binding is susceptible to the warp but she also seems more resistant of it than many of the other people we could switch her out with.

My final vote here is Anna and Tessa (but if Anna's still out then bring Rodwen)

We really should use our psykic attacks more often.
    AND FAITH BONUS GUYS, REMEMBER!
Also, right now, I think we should bring in Tessa or Galatea to replace Florentia.
Eden should also go, but only if we can replace her with someone with knowledge of the warp. If that fuzzball doesn't prove helpful, then I say Filigree, then Rowden.
Also, when we fought that thing, did you guys notice anything about it? Any weaknesses? Or preferences?
Maybe a heat based weapon like a melta might prove effective?

I second this. We need some ranged capability, so Anna would be perfect.
If we are going to replace Florencia, who's a heavy CC hitter, Tessa would be a pretty good choice.
She is also really close to us, so she should follow plans much better than Florencia.
Galatea would be another good CC choice, but I don't want to pull her from commanding the Sisters.

We definately need to pull that furry creature near Caramel's fire. We don't need the thing dying on us.
Though we should probably collect some wood and start a fire with the jetpack rather than wasting all of our jetpack fuel.

You used your power claw to break off several tree branches, lighting them with Caramel's jump pack. It did not take long for you to make a fire, gingerly placing the creature near it. It seemed more alert now and would periodically roll in the snow, trying to remove the stomach fluid. It seemed harmless enough.

You approach Eden next. "Please... Return Florencia and bring her armor and the creature's scales. I wish for the help of my beloved Tessa, and Anna if she is well again. If she is not, please bring the farseer. And fuel for Caramel's jump pack."

Eden nods. "I need you to stand in the tear while I am gone. Your aura is a beacon. It will show me where to return to. When I send everyone through you will be pushed out of the tear. Try not to hit your head. If in the future you need to contact me, simply stand in one and concentrate. I will hear it.

After gathering the scales, the Canoness, and her armor, she leads you to a melted patch of snow, the air about her twisting as she entered. "Step in once I've gone. I wont be long." Florencia gives you a deep bow before stepping in with her, dragging her armor, her hammer on her shoulder. It was truly a sight to watch her carry such a massive weapon without the aid of power armor. In a flash of white, they vanished.

You stepped immediately into the tear. It was much warmer than the snowy fields around you, but it also distorted your vision of the god's realm. You were already a distance from caramel, that thing, and the swarm.

a moment later you were shoved violently forward, only just catching yourself, a razzled Tessa and Rodwen stepping out behind you. Immediately you encase them in divine protection, Tessa practically leaping into your arms, speaking in High Gothic. The Farseer did not seem amused. She was also carrying a very large tank of fuel and her Singing Spear.

"I do not wish to remain in this accursed realm for longer than I have to. This place is the stuff of nightmares so may we press on?"

Tessa slowly let go, albeit reluctantly, and nodded. "... You're right. There will be time for pleasantries later..." She took a deep breath, quickly becoming serious. "Alright. What's first?"

"Thanks for coming. with Eden gone, I really needed the help of somebody familiar with the warp."
I take the tank from her quickly, giving her an appreciative nod.
As Caramel refuels, I ask Rodwen to examine the creature we discovered.
She might have more expertise in the matter than I, or be able to communicate with it.
Once the creature stops shivering and regains some pep, we prepare to head off into the city.
While everybody is busy, I sneak a quick kiss from Tessa.
I give her a conspiratorial wink, put my finger over my mouth, and nod in the direction of the irate farseer.
As we depart she gives me a cheeky grin, and the heavy burden that I feel on my mind lifts immediately.

“Resupplying.” Esme moves quickly towards the farseer, taking the canister from her hands. “Thank you farseer, I can understand that the warp bears an even greater danger to you – I'll make sure that you'll have to remain only as long as necessary. But – please allow me the question – why were you carrying the supplies?”

“Please, follow me” walking towards the fire, Esme gives her newly arrived companions a quick overview what has happened since they sent Sonja back. “So, this is how we ended with this thing. Ever seen something like this before farseer? We haven't spotted any of its kind before.”
While everybody is focussed on the creature, Esme slowly interlaces one of her hands with Tessa. Resting her head on the other woman's shoulder, she lets the calm wash over her. “Tell me, how's the situation? Any progress on Anna or the Lord Inquisitor?” The Exalted Martyr slowly removes her hand from Tessa's, letting her whole demeanour slump a bit. “Have many sisters fallen since we embarked?” Drawing a breath, she almost imperceptibly begins to shiver. “I... I just can't stop myself from thinking we aren't fast enough...”

    >Now that our supply order has already been sent, I think we should have ordered some stun grenades. The noise and flash produced by those should have wreaked havoc on the sensory organs of creatures adapted to darkness. (As the snake seemed to be.)

The Farseer seems a little happier since you relieved her of the burden of the fuel, both she and Tessa following you over to the campfire. The Eldar seems wary of the swarm overhead, her eyes glowing faintly.

You find Caramel sitting down next to the now almost completely dry... fluffball of a creature. Almost completely spherical, you could no longer see its feet due to its fur. It blinked at you, snuggling further against Caramel's thigh. It kinda reminded you of those balls of dust back in the schola that gathered in all the places the servitors couldn't clean. You handed the fuel to the Seraphim, watching her as she quickly replenished her jump pack.

Rodwen's eye twitched at the scene.

"Please tell me you know what that thing is..."

It was Caramel who spoke. "No... We were hoping you could-"

"Then kill it quickly and lets move on. The warp is full of deceit and trickery and we would do well to avoid it."

"Will you at least look at it?"

The Farseer sighed deeply, pinching the bridge of her nose. "There's no arguing with you, is there?" She walked quickly over to the fluff ball, the creature trying to make itself small before skittering to Caramel's other side, further annoying the Farseer.

It was at this time you stole your kiss, and as desecrate as you attempted to be, Tessa's red face was more than enough proof. You rested your head on her pauldron, Tessa inclining her head a bit to whisper. "I don't care who needs you when we get back, Canoness, Inquisitor, or High Lord of Terra. I get first dibs."

You are both brought back to reality as the Farseer cleared her throat. "Are you quite finished? We have work to do. As far as I can tell, this is a bottom of the food chain creature. Of course It wont hold still so I can examine it properly."

You nod, inquiring about the situation in the Materium. Tessa is the one that answers. "We are keeping out the darkness but creatures keep managing to get in. Not much we can do about it. It's been easy enough to kill them when they appear however. We won't be able to hold on forever though."

You take a deep breath, Caramel speaking up. "Then we mustn't tarry long. Who knows how extensive this realm may be with such finite time to explore."

Rodwen rolled her eyes. "The god will be at the realms center. That is the nature of chaos."

"I know THAT but there must be a trick to getting to the god itself."

    "...You may be right..."

"We must be careful- this is a place of trickery and deception. We've encountered creatures capable of mimicking our forms and stealing our voices."
I rub my hands together- is it just me, or is it getting colder?
"Caramel? Do you think you're up for a little scouting? We need to know which direction will leads to the center.... and also what we will be facing, in terms of terrain at the very least.
Eden- do you know any xeno wytchery that will speed our travel? Or make us harder to detect?" A scavanger deamon alites on my armor, and I brush it off. "Ignore the smaller ones- they're following us at the moment in the hopes of feeding off of whatever we kill. They seem relatively harmless."

"Please don't hurt the beast. It is the first actively friendly thing that we have met while being here. Who knows if it will be useful or not? At the very least, we can use it as a source of warmth."
At this last statement, I shiver slightly. This god seems to enjoy the cold. We may have to prepare for this the further we go into its domain.

You ask Rodwen not to hurt the creatue and ask if there are any abilities she knows to help you. "Well... I do know several tricks to speed travel, but I do not think they would work here. As for concealment, it is simple enough to accomplish and maintain."

"It really does... although I'm still a bit worried about it. Looking cute seems to be a rather bad strategy to survive in the warp." Esme rests her head on top of Tessa's. "Don't worry, this time I won't chase the next arch-heretic I can find into the warp - at least not without you."

After a few moments with Tessa, Esme untangles herself from the other sister's grip and approches the fuzzball cautiously. Moving slowly, she sinks to her knees so her size doesn't intimidate it. Offering her hand to that thing; "Say, you're not some psychic leech that intends to eat Caramel's soul, right?" She looks in the compartments of her armour if there's any food she could offer to it.

It shrinks away from your coaxing, its fur puffing out. It let out a little growl. You sighed and backed off, checking your armor for something to offer it, the creature still cautious but a bit more relaxed.

As you look, you ask Rodwen if she has any ideas on your next move.

The Farseer let out a breath of frigid air before reluctantly approaching the fire for warmth. "This is a riddle that I have never attempted to solve, Sister. The idea of feeding the others does not appeal to me, nor does delaying what must be inevitable. A 'chaos god' is a creature of energy within the warp given physical form, specific traits, and a consciousness. Even if we were to destroy such a creature, that energy would merely be dispersed and may once again reform into something different with lesser versions of the original traits. To remove the power itself... That is something I do not know how to do."

You finish searching your armor, unable to find anything, resting your head on top of Tessa's, murmuring to her.

You feel her smile. "Esme, you do what you have to do to keep everyone safe, alright? Just as long as you come back. Though it may be frustrating at times, the emperor's will comes before-"

She was cut off by a loud crunch. One of the scavenger daemons had gotten too close to the fuzzball, one reddish black foot sticking out approximately where the creature's mouth should have been, accompanied by the sound of what must be razor sharp teeth shearing through bone. After a moment even the foot disappeared into the mass of fur, the chewing slowing and stopping.

You were shaken out of your stupor as Caramel landed nearby. A bit of ice had formed in her hair from the wind chill of flight, and she immediately moved near the fire, visibly shivering. "Nothing t-too bad from what I can see." The fluffball lept into her lap. "Er... I spotted several more snake daemons as well as several buildings with a sort of... living infestation." She licked her lips. "I.. did see one thing that worried me. It was a very large flying daemon. It is... hard to describe. It was sort of flat and triangular. I would assume its very flat with enormous wings. It was too far away to see if it had legs or not, but the 'pointed' end of the triangle seemed to be the tail. It had many lights down each side and its back... I think we should avoid it if we see one. It was easily as long as a baneblade."

After everybody has warmed up, Esme decides to address their situation. "It seems to me, as if the only thing we can currently do is to keep pushing onward. We'll try to use the information Caramel has gathered to find a route that grants as stealth as well as protection from the elements. Concerning the sleeping god - the Emperor killed Horus with such prejudice that even the chaos gods could not save nor retrieve his damned soul. Would it be possible to do that with a part of the sleeping god and watch the whole crumble?"

(don't forget that Caramel is missing a good bit of her armor which is why she's colder than the others. Slaanesh's design and all. Also your at the edge of the forest and city.)

Caramel looked uneasily down at the creature, biting her lip. She shook her head slowly. "No... I'm not sure I... No. I haven't thought of a name... and you're welcome..."

You bring up Horus and the emperor, your question leaving everyone in silence for a good bit of time. It was Tessa who spoke. "I... I don't know... Maybe..." She looked at you, her expression guarded. "Horus put the god-emperor on the golden throne..."

"Awww, stop worrying - there's nothing we can do about it at the moment. Let's just look forward and trust that He on holy Terra will help us through this crisis." Smile at the others. "You know, it's that mindset that has already made me a martyr before I'm dead, you know?"

    I give Tessa's hand a reasuring squeeze.
"The Emperor did not strike until he knew Horus was beyond redemption. I don't plan to give this vile thing a chance." I say warmly.
"Next time we find one of the gaps in between this realm and ours, we will definately have to request some heavier clothing." I say to the group.
I give a joking smile, and add,"In the meantime, I suppose we will just have to be friendly and keep together for warmth."
I lead Tessa and Caramel in a modified version of the Litany of Warp Travel to raise morale, and douse the fire in preperation of moving out.
I ask Caramel to take the lead, as she knows the lay of the land better than us, and Rodwen to begin cloaking our presence.
    "Forth, unto the foe, Sisters!"
