Illusion spells.

On the bottom of the list, summoning or dead-raising necromany spells; then damaging spells.

Find an instructor who seems at least ambivalent to the most promising student in class. Get into pants of said instructor but ask for nothing. After a while during pillowtalk let slip you did this at first so someone would protect you from that promising student, who is possibly practicing blood magic, possibly with the knowledge/tutelage of *insert instructor you don't like*, but that you want to stay with the instructor you're sleeping with because you've come to love him/her, and that you don't even want them to teach spells you're not supposed to know yet. Clearly, forming our own Cabal would be fun. I think that focusing on countering enemy magic forces us to always know what they are up to, so we need detection/scrying spells. Or learn something that will give us initiative.
