    Hmm, lemmie think.

Orcs: Actually evil, dicks about everything. Strength is everything to them in their culture. One example involved them weighing down shit like well buckets with weight so only the strong can get water.

Quadav - Turtles who worship the earth and metals, generally want to be left alone, and only really fight because Humes and Galka won't stop mining their nesting ground and holy places.

Yagudo - Religious extremists, but not all that aggressive. Technically not even at war like the others, mostly just fight with the others over who owns what land.

Goblins - You can't trust them, but not even goblins can trust other goblins. That said, they happen to be merchants for just about every race around, and are basically the only way the various races can keep in touch without killing one another.

Sahagin - Just want to be left the hell alone. Only got talked into the Shadow War because they were told their way of life was directly threatened.

    Tonberries - Evil motherfuckers.

Antica - Bipedal Ants. Could rule the world if they could figure out shipbuilding.

I find the speed trade off of using Valor books, campaign, etc. over a party worth the ability to take a break and dick around whenever I get bored of pummeling things.
Plus I don't have to deal with some of the morons that plague lower levels.

As you walk along the northern path towards ranguemont pass, everything appears to be serene. There is a morning mist that has yet to burn off the forest yet, and the entire place has a pleasant earthy smell. Around, you see the common rabbits and large beetles that are so common to the region.

As you approach the Cheval River bridge, you see a galka clad in a blue tunic fighting fist to fist with a goblin, with several other goblins lying about him on the ground. The goblin looks rather healthy, and the galka looks like he is getting weak.

    What do you do?

I think people will get a kick out of this, so I'll share it.

Yagudo are described as a bunch of religious extremists in most of the fluff, but it's a bit unreliable. While they certainly are religious, their major problem is that they hate the god of Altana, the patron god of the PC races. They're paired with the city of Windurst, which is where two of the major PC races live.

Yagudo are weird, because they have a lot of odd jobs. Including this are Samurai and Ninjas, two classes that are described as being unheard of in the area you're playing in, and monks, who are around, but extremely rare. It was always a mystery why they had the jobs before the players, and why they were one of the only races to have them.

Turns out, way back, an ambassador and crew from the far east, where those jobs and techniques are from, showed up in windurst. They'd planned to share their techniques as a show of good faith, but it came out that they didn't worship Altana. The Windurstians promptly kicked them out of the city because of it, as they were heretics.

So the ambassador ends up meeting up with the Yagudo(who are akin to a race from his land) and they're far less of a dick to him, especially since he doesn't worship Altana. So he teaches them how to be Ninjas and Samurai instead.

Beware, that mighty strikes is a supernatural ability that you can only summon the power to use once every few days. Its power IS increible, however, allowing all of your hits to strike very true, causing massive amounts of damage. Same thing with chainspell for Leo, except he gains the ability to cast spells very very very fast.

Are you still sure you wish to do this?

    ok.

Bob charges forward, axe drawn, to bring his wrath down upon the goblin.

Leo approaches the proper range, and casts stone on the goblin.

With your strikes and spells, the goblin falls, but the galka appears severely injured after dealing with a group of what looked like 4 goblins. The galka is breathing heavily, kneeling down next to the river.

    What do you do?

I would say WoW has much more accessable game play (which makes it much better for many many people) but FFXI does have a very strong setting. I have had many tears alot more in the FFXI quests I have done than in any of the WoW quests I have done. The only quest that comes close in WoW is the Wrathgate.

The galka nods as you leave.

"Again, thank you very much for your assistance." He pulls out his fishing rod, and casts it back into the Cheval River.

You continue along the road, and you pass the scout tower that has been built along the north road. The elvaan man up in the tower waves an affirmitive sign as you walk past.

You continue until the main path sort of peters out into the slot canyon that leads to the Ranguemont Pass cavern entrance.

Just into the slot canyon, you see two orcs, dressed in their traditional warrior garb, wielding swords.

    What do you do?

    >>7580306they are religious extremists and live two continents away, generally they're assholes to humes

They're enemies to the Tarutaru, who are being aided by humans. The reason they are enemies is because the Tarutaru consider them heathens that do not worship the Star Sybil. When the Tarutaru dominated the continent with magic, they took a lot of Yagudo territory.

When the Eastern people visited the continent though, they were denied audience with the Star Sybil, as they did not worship Altana.

The Yagudo though, welcomed them. The Eastern people were familiar with a bird race known as Garuda from their native lands. Many Yagudo went Eastward, and returned with the arts of the sword and ninjutsu.

Prayer beads are a popular import from the East to Yagudo lands. Windurst has a bounty on Yagudo prayer beads though, and though they are officially at peace with the Yagudo, they send adventurers as proxy to war with them.
