    Continuation of >>7949613

After spending 10 days training with your assault force for the attack on Jaburo, you are preparing to leave for Costa Rica for the final prep when Garma asks for you in his office.

You, Captain Fontaine, Captain Montagu (123rd) and Captain Salinca (131st) all meet with him.

"Gentlmen, it's been a long time coming, but we are about to begin our assault on Jaburo. You are quite frankly undermanned, and without much of the support I would have liked, but I believe that you are ready. But also, by making this assault so so soon, it means that Zeon will not be gambling everything on this throw of the dice."

    He repositions himself.

"If you cannot take Jaburo, then do not feel you have to fight to the last man for a dying cause. Do what you can in this assault, any damage you do to Jaburo will give us weeks, maybe even months of much needed breathing room to stay ahead of the Federal juggernaught that is now beginning to pick up steam."

He dismisses you all, and wishes you the best of luck.

    You're going to need it.

As you move to leave, Garma takes you aside.

"Remember David, don't feel the need to throw your life away with this assault. We are staging this early attack because even if it fails, we have the time to stage another at a later date. Also, if I can be honest, you would have to be supremely lucky, and the feds exceptionally stupid to be able to take and hold all of Jaburo. If the time comes and you feel that the mission should be turned into a hit and run instead of an invasion, you have authority to make that call. You and Captain Fontaine also have authority to call for an Operations wide retreat if the time comes. Don't get yourself killed my friend. I have scant few of those as it is."

Calvin - Dodai recon Zaku, unless we can modify an Acguy, Gogg, or Z'gok to have a sensor backpack. Powerful sonar might be of some use here.

Good to see that Garma has a realistic appraisal of the situation.

On that note, we should be sure to have our fall-back zones planned out. If we don't need them, that's great, but if we do make this a butcher-and-bolt, then having our extraction routes set up increases our chances of getting away safely.

12 days have passed. You have 8 days to get ready. Also, you HAVE to be over Jaburo by 3pm on that day, so that you can find the Hangar bay, invade it and take control of it's doors. This will either be done by flying over fast enough and dropping a combined Infantry/MS unit by air, Marine MS entering the hanger via infilitration along the waterways, or through a tunnel made by the EMS-05 Agg.

THAT'S the plan. The hangar's position will be random, and whilst every attempt is being made to ensure that it will be opening within your operational radius, you have no way of knowing which part of Jaburo this will be.

Your advantages are that Jaburo AA has not been rated as heavy enough to take down Gaw assault planes quickly without the aid of it's Air Contingent, which will be drawn out by Operation Terminus on Cuba.

If we find large bodies of water while attacking in Jaburo we should mark it down for a future invasion with the aquatic MS.

You mount up in the Outer Heaven, and together with 8 Gaws carrying the 131st, 123rd and the Mech Infantry Companies and another pair of Fat Uncles carrying support equipment and the rest of the Nachtmaren's Mobile Suits you make your way to Costa Rica. Escorted by the two Dopp Squadrons you also dragooned into Operation Hunter.

For once you arrive without incident. You can't decide if this is a good omen or a bad omen.

It's night by the time you dismount. The command teams begin setting up a basic camp, where you'll all be staying for the duration.

Unfortunately you don't have the time to construct those. It's also beyond the current plastics technology to do them with any sense of realism and be able to store them on the MS.
It's another idea that Ookawara has on his crazy ideas list though.

    >I would prefer the airdrop to tunnel action myself. If we have the advantage over their AA then I say we take it.

The risk with the Airdrop is getting there in time, if the Hanger is out of range then you could just bounce of the fake jungle covering.

Whereas with the Agg you can bypass the heavy Hanger seals and dig your way in through the side before the Ship Hanger block can transfer itself.
The downside being that then you;d have to open the doors, or all MS would have to go through that small tunnel (or pair of tunnels if you're still using that second Agg plan.) until you found the hangar door controls and opened them again.

Also, the Outer Heaven can VTOL, so it just drops low and we hop aboard." Jolyne supplies, keeping her cards close to her ample chest.

"Yeah, but what about the rest of the forces?" Asks Hovis.

"Well, last I saw, all of the Gaw crews were picking out spots on the map where they could land. I think if things go badly then the other units are supposed to retreat to those zones, board and then book." Zolomon supplies.

"Guerrilla fighting out of Jaburo? That's going to be fun." You comment.

"Remember Panama? When ALL of the North American reserve landed on our asses?" Zolomon asks.

"I remember getting knocked out from the pressure wave of a nuclear explosion and waking up surrounded by rubble."
    You state.

    "Good times man. Good times."

    "Fuck you too Mr Ringo."

...until repairs are effected. The point is to do irreperable damage.

    wait a minute.

could we target the rail systems by which the blocks of Jaburo are moved? Possibly those should be very hard to repair (being huge and complex systems for which spares might not be readily available). and the Feddie defenses would then be compromised in the long term, making repeated assaults much more viable.

    Okay. So hows this sound:

Team 1 drills up into and secures the Hanger while a Commando Drop targets their command center and attempts to grab Intel and disable the Feds ability to mobilize resistance.

From there it's a smash and grab job on their key support installments and if need be a speedy retreat.

Bonuses of the destroyed Rail Blocks lines?

    1. They'll only have a fixed point to deploy forces.
    2. Their 'Mobile HQ' is severly limited.
    3. And subsequent attack will be focused on the fixed point, thus necessitating either improved defenses of that section of Jabro, or abandoning of that section entirely.
3a. In the event of added fortifications of that section material used in the creation of said fortifications will not boost the war effort.
3b. In the event of abandoning that section of Jabro, they lose a MASSIVE portion of their military production capability.

Flanagan thinks the idea has merit, but the problem is that unguided missiles launched from the subs will take a while to reach the operations area depending on where the Hangars will be. Also, they aren't too accurate. You can bombard a wide area, but you can ONLY bombard a wide area.

The Doms aren't a good choice either, as they will be severely limited by the close quarters. I think it would be best if we use our F2, and Zol in his Gouf. Jolyn and Hovis should support the ground attack with Hobbes as spotter.

It just feels wrong that we become masters of conventional battle and weapons only to switch out for gimmiky suits at the very end.

I would say we should have our normal suits put on stand-by at a staging point at the tunnels entrance, but if things get bad enough that we need to switch out for standard firepower, I don't think we'll have enough time to switch out suits anyway.

    >Given that their intended purpose is INVADING JABURO, and we're about to INVADE JABURO, I think they'll be fairly useful this time.

Yeah. Also, as a player of Gihren's Greed, a fair few of the Jaburo Attack MS are actually pretty good. The Aggugguy is like a mad cross between a Gouf and an Acguy, and the Juagg's got a decent punch. The others aren't too great admittedly.

    >We're going to want the Mad Angler and its suits in position about a day or two ahead of time. It hides and runs silent, launching Acguys to scout out an underwater route into Jaburo. Once they find it, they deploy the rest of the suits to use it. Have them time their assault to start when the attack on the hangar block does.

TRYING to find an alternate way in. Failing that, they'll try to make it to the hangar site when it begins to open, and attempt to do so undetected. But Flanagan aggrees to get to Jaburo a couple of day's early and case the sea routes out.

With the plan laid out, you all take the drive back to the stagin area.

The MSMs are better equipped for attack from a sea route, not getting dropped out of a Gaw or slugging it out on foot. The air attack starts as a diversion, with ground units moving into position to get ready to breach. The underground team starts the real attack and opens the way for the ground forces. The Marine team follows up with heavy firepower from an area that the Feds probably weren't expecting.

    Jolyne- MSM-04G Juagg
    Hovis- Zock

I say the reason we have Calvin n his Recon Zaku is that he's going to be the spotter for the Outer Heaven and the Gaws, and perhaps most importantly, the Angler squadron. Jolyne- MSM-04G Juagg
Hovis- Zock, but if that won't fit through the Agg tunnel, we'll give him a Juagg.

Okay, this is fine. As the final day arrives you wake up and prepare your suits, loading the MS you'll be using into the Outer Heaven, making sure the ones that aren't being used are properly secured.
Around this time, Operation Terminus should be beginning.

As well as the fake minovsky bombs, the Trebuchet system will also be scattering combination Minovsky/Seismic noismakers onto the area, ingeniously designed to appear as if their primary function is to spread Minovsky particles and that the seismic pulses it is putting out are just a happy side effect.

Midday comes and you all have a quiet but relatively decent meal before the battle.

"Alright Ladies and Gentlemen. Saddle up."

You mount up in your semi-custom Agguguy, and as the rest of your squad does the same, you feel the thrust of the Outer Heavens engines as it surges forward.

Outside, 8 other Gaw planes fly into the sky alongside the Zanzibar Kai, flanked on all sides by many Dopp fighters acting as a screen.

    Ghiren's Greed, a strategy game.

That said, SHIN MATSUNAGA IS SO COOL. I thought he'd be a pretty boy, or asian looking, with one of the few Japanese names floating around, but DAMN. BEARD AND MOUSTACHE, WITH A WHITE MS.

Well, figure that Garma's Faction is GO if we can defeat the Feddies, because Gihren is guaranteed to do something tremendously dickish if he does.

Zeonquest2: ZEON HARDER would presumably be about the civil war between Gihren and Garma over the future of Zeon and the Earth Sphere. With Feddie remnants and the Jupiter fleet also dicking around with things.

I guess the real question is whether, well, anybody who actually got a name would be following Gihren.

Of course, Char might also decide to reveal himself. Or "Sayla Mass" might be forced to use her real name. Which would confuse things even more.

Nah. David and Zolomon will end up in a 2 on 1 fight against him. David's suit will be immobilized, and Zolomon will charge Amuro's Gundam with twin heat axes. Zolomon will take heavy damage, but he'll sink both axes into Amuro's suit, locking the two of them together as Zol's reactor goes critical and atomizes them both.

Well, his mom was somewhere in North America.

If we've taken out Jaburo, then chances are good that White Base will be aiming for the UK or Ireland instead, seeing as how that would be the largest remaining concentration of Feddie forces. So he won't have the chance to meet his mom again.

I prefer the idea of Dave and Zol distracting him for long enough to have Hobbes light him up for Jolyne and Hovis.

He won't awaken as a Newtype until much later in the war, so a barrage from heavy artillery would ruin his whole day.

Well, I can see Gihren ordering it, But Dozle or Garma? Hardly.

Then again, If Gihren does order a mass execution i think it would be enough to make Garma and Dozle go against him, Meaning that the stage is set for Zeonquest 2.

What might happen is that we get made military governor of something in the wake of Zeon victory.

It would give us a chance to focus on the other thing we were writing an essay about; namely, proper occupation policy and peacekeeping. And to continue our history of trying, as much as possible, to be GOOD PEOPLES.

Which also puts us in a position to spearhead the ZetaZeonquest version of either the AEUG or Karaba; as Gihren makes increasingly strident demands for us to go all Nazi-flavored, we tell him "fuck no" and rebel in favor of Garma.
