Would anyone be interested in a Call of Cthulhu game set in the Mass Effect setting? I think it has a lot of potential for creepiness along with the setting's inherent coolness.

You know, the Reapers are a good parallel to the Great Old Ones.

Cthulhu is Sovereign (or was, anyway)
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:38 No.8127566
I mean, imagine being stuck on Zhu's Hope after the Thorian had woken up and started taking slaves. But you aren't Sheperd. You're just a regular guy...and the Normandy isn't coming.

Actually, that really works. Like Cthulhu, Sovereign was the herald of the Great Old Ones.

That's kind of proven when getting the Reaper IFF. Which was also a creepy as hell mission. "Chandana was right, but he didn't realize that even a dead god can dream. What people forget is that god is a verb. A verb for something that warps reality by it's very presence. It doesn't need to want to, or even know it's happening. It just happens.

Yeah, Reapers are unknowable, monstrous constructs. It takes the sacrifice of a million people to grow a new one.

At least that explains why they let civilizations grow then harvest them over and over again.

Not just one milion. It takes literary most of the given race to create one.

And that's what happens after you stay Indoctrinated too long. You end up a frothing catatonic repeating that for the rest of your life.

Holy shit. Combine this idea with Half-Life 2 for maximum fun!

Pro-tip: Breen was Indoctrinated. The Watch is made up of human versions of the Collectors.
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:55 No.8127887
SO is a reaper just a collection of all the individuals minds

    or

does the reaper tech make a new conscious?
    >> Anonymous 02/16/10(Tue)22:58 No.8127950
    >>8127850
Well, I was thinking of maybe having some Colony leader in the edge of Alliance Space be secretly Indoctrinated in the past. He is left with a special command for him to start rounding up people at a certain time (Which is NOW). It's all set to flawlessly line up with a certain shipment of Dragon's Teeth and an Indoctrination Altar to teach the "doctors" some new techniques...

You see, with the death of the Collectors, the Reapers need new slaves. They just need to make them, first.

While it isn't spelled out for certain in the games that I can remember, we never see either reaper have any sort of debate with itself, or show any other sign of being mroe than a single consciousness. Might be more or less like legion of course, but IMO the most likely scenario is that creating a reaper also creates anew consciousness, though it might inherit some things from the people that wen into it.

    >>8127950
Oh and obviously the PCs are a group of colonists who need to try to escape and get off the planet into Alliance space, or at least get in contact with some Council forces or the Alliance so they can stop it before it's too late!

I imagine that the Reaper gets all their knowledge and experiences and stuff, but is it's own gestalt consciousness. More then the sum of it's parts and so on.
