I proxied a bunch of Green Army men for my IG army once. My FLGS was out of basic troops so I used some as filler until my order got in and I finished my army. I put them on bases with a bit of hot glue and used them for about three weeks at our weekly 40k night at the FLGS. I gave them some basic paintjobs and ran with them.

Most of the people that I played against were cool with them, I only had one grognard go nuts and refuse to play with me. What was really funny is his Nids looked like absolute dog shit.

Never understood this. Some people will go nuts if you aren't using GW APPROVED miniatures. They say its because the art side of the hobby is as important as the game, but then they don't have a problem playing against unpainted armies. At least you made an effort with your stand-ins.

Im tired of all these army men threads! The games been absolute shit since 10th Ed when they nerfed The Neon Coalition and took away all of Yellows chemical weapon options. No I don't. Like I said they just had a basic paint job. A quick basecoat and drybrush job to bring out what little detail they had and some flesh coloring for exposed skin. I want to say I spent less than 2-3 mins/guy. I did it because they looked really lame just glued to the bases.

I mostly used the guy second row second from the right. I did make a squad with the bayonet guy and a couple of heavy weapons squads with the mortar guy and kneeling MG guy.

Scoop the next green jeeps you find. With a little work, they make great armored cars for tan and you can use them as tractors for Laser Turrets. Cheap, deadly, fun to put on your trollface.

That said, I just got done refitting a pair of helicopters with anti-tank missiles. Might only give me a few shots, but jettisoning them once they are empty is great.

I would consider adding a Slicer Buggy or two; having some more mobile anti-infantry can make all the difference.

I don't know what the hell they're thinking if that's true; tan just doesn't have the heavy firepower to hang with some of the other armies. Tan has plenty of slow vehicles, but not really any heavily armored ones.

The 'Crusher' type Red builds are what really give me the fits. The AC-130 went down when one of those fucking MiGs zipped through a hole in my aerial screen. Had only downed one in a line of I think 5 fucking Annihilators and 3 Planers. Those three of course have a chance to barrel through my barricades and he rolled high on all three, the lucky fucker. I had anti-tank infantry dropped onto some nearby rooftops, but go figure, I hadn't even seen this guy's Commander yet.
    Fury. Fucking Fury.
Having my infantry decimated by flamers is usually bad enough. Having infantry decimated by A FUCKING JETPACKING FLAMETHROWER TROOP? It was terrible.
Luckily one of my Grenade Jeeps managed to score a couple lucky hits, and same for one of my Apaches, and I managed to down a couple of his Annihilators to save face, but in the end it was too little too late.

    Suddenly, toy story.

But seriously it is a coin flip and dozen dollar game.

Flip a coin, tails misses heads hits. Flip again, heads means dead tails means wounded.

Both sides have equal models no matter what. Line of sight, you just have both players hold a string between both soldiers and hold it tight and that is that.

Elmers glue pennies under the guys to make them stand on carpet, or anything else...

Really, a dozen dollars.. Maybe two or three bags of toys to make sure you guys have equal numbers.

Latest edition, yeah. The last time I played the guy was about two months ago, so it wasn't an issue then. Basically there's a special deployment rule where if Red is fielding this special unit he can drop his anti-armor abilities for the Jetpack. I don't know the exact rules, of course Blue the air specialists don't fucking get one, but basically it lets him move as a miniature helecopter through the air, switching at the start and end of movement between flying and walking. Normally there's a sizable aiming penalty for firing while in flight, but of course Flamethrowers as a 'Spray' weapon don't have that apply. Honestly I would have preferred him to equip a sniper and just jet up to high points to snipe, the way he was controlling the guy.

I'm with you, man. If you want the good trollface, start using the DC-3 doctrine so that you can hot-drop vehicles in behind enemy lines. If you're a halfway competent player, there's not shit they can do about it. I'm a big fan of ground pound "scorched earth" tactics, with a few helos for support. I'm too much of a fan of Daisy Cutters to go all infantry, though.

The reason that people fail so hard with Tan is that a lot of them are former MechRed/Grey players that want to try something else. They think they can roll around with light vehicles like they can with heavy tanks.

You all just hating on the green army because it is based on the Wehrmacht, don't even say it isn't, they even confirmed it in the latest codex, besides bitches don't know green army is the most underdog army, especially since all the fanboys left. Enjoy when I rape you using my supreme strategy (using green enables the ability too make a vast amount of strategies because of how shit they are now) of sending two platoons of medics out in separate directions (left and right of opposing army) then 4-5 platoons of riflemen out to the front, followed by Commander Burschsteins (I think that is his name) squad, mainly a combo squad, filled with different radio men (air support ability), and Special command spotters (not sure if their name is that). They all give a huge special ability (area of effect) bonus to troops, which means my medics gain higher range and heal off my killing machines, creating an almost unstoppable army, while my artillery bombs the shit out of your flanks and air support start picking off your highest concentration of units. Red army is cool but overrated. It has become the new greens. Greens are now smalltime, and that is why I like them. Thanks for the nerf!

Yeah. I cried tears of joy when I fought my first tan with the Greys.

He went almost full light vehicles, and that's okay. Not ideal but okay. In most cases. But, I'm a tank guy so I maxed as many heavy and super-heavies as I could. My army could barely move but it was untouchable by everything except his self-propelled artillery, which I took out in the first turn.

Not in my experience. If you take "Hooters" (the tank ace) she gives you an extra direction change at the end of your movement (+some other things) so you can make a circle with rear armour inwards and front outwards. Grey superheavies are ridiculous slow but they'e armour makes up for it and Hooters makes them a little faster. Fast enough to work.

Hardly anyone plays them now, remember? 7th edition was the start bro. Thing is, I don't buy into the bullshit Tan shit that most folks do. I hate the Car Bomber doctrine with a passion. Thing is, your gunline green force is good as a start, but one turn of bombardment can wipe out your efficiency. Burschstein and your medics are providing the most of your buffs from what I saw. Any player of any army will see them as the focal point of targeting.

I don't know how we got into this flamewar anyway. It's a solid strategy, but a good Blue player will take out Burschstein right off with the 105mm and use the minis/heavier guns to pick off what it can. Sure, it might get blown to hell, but it'll force you to redirect and re-dedicate.

Both of our strategies require first turn anyway. Heavy artillery ruins your day, while anti-air screws my Blue force and heavy armor puts a dent in my Tan tactics.

I see what you are saying, but I must admit, I only use that strategy when I know it would work, especially since the buffers buff each other as well, and the Radio mens special ability in command squads (interception) I can negate artillery and air support from the enemy into co-ordinates onto their military or offmap. Hate failures on rolls with it but, shit can hit back harder on your command squad, because they can see its use. I have dozens of strategies. I expect in order not to machine gun spam and use bombers, you would also have to have lots of diverse, random and farfetched army ideas and strategies, because in order to beat your army using a strategy as tan is to make your enemy go "What the fuck?" anyway what is your usual strategy?

    >>8523848
To be honest, as a Blue player I'd leave the AC-130 off the field. I'd use the points to buy up
-a few tanks. Blue's options aren't that great here, but they're adequate
-more importantly, a number more helicopters and troop drops.
The more mobile helicopters and more precisely deployable drop troops let you work that strategy's support a lot harder, with less for the Green player to focus on individually. They don't compare with say Red's Annihilators, but you still can't afford to take your eyes of a cluster of Barkers.

I'm a big, big fan of howitzer batteries, as you saw. Even if they draw fire, they survive long enough to bite a few chunks out of the enemy. When it was still around, I'd use the Tunnel Rats doctrine all the time. When people would see the heavy stuff, mostly armored cars, they expected me to bring those up from the tunnels. It was enough to get them to keep something heavy at the rear of their force and unable to fire at the bulk of mine. Other than that, I use bait and run tactics with the cheapest, fastest stuff I can. Light Trucks with a Demolitions team is a great way to get people to look in whatever direction you want them to.

I also pack at least three snipers for dealing with characters.

Now, instead of tunnel rats, I take Helidrop capacity. The list means that you can just take the points on the helidrops and not state what is being taken. That way, I keep a few Armored Cars in reserve and put either Sappers or Det Pack suicide squads in the choppers. People still freak out and put their armor in weird places most of the time.

The only problem I have with it is that it's in PS2...I'm not really good with console RTS.

Bumping in the interest of seeing this game actually happen.

I think it would be cool if every army had an:

    Infantry Doctrine
    Vehicle Doctrine
    Defensive Doctrine
    Specialist Doctrine

where each doctrine would focus on that army's particular strength in each style (ie fast attack for tan vehicle) and the specialist doctrine would be that races tech style (ie lazers variants-tan, air veterans-blue, infantry movement-red, chemical weapons-yellow)

    Because, look at those guys.
Do they look like they are tans?
No, they look brown, so you make a brown defense, and then get fucked over by tans.

Anyone know if Tan elite infiltration squads are effective against gray fortification armies in 10th Ed?

Blue - Air Superiority Doctrine, Airborne Elite Doctrine
Red (Assuming this is Soviet) - Propaganda Doctrine, Urban Warfare Doctrine
Yellow (Assuming this is Japan) - Death before Dishonor Doctrine, Extreme Aggression Doctrine.
Tan - Technology Superiority Doctrine, Disruption and Misinform Doctrine.

    Is this ok?

See this is why I hate it when people say color-country for army men. I rather like making them fictional nations in an alternate reality.

Jekal Union - red - infantry additions (ie commisars, jet packs, ect) with vehicle penalties

Neon Coalition - any semitransparent color - ? (no one plays them)

Altavin Industrial Corp. - yellow - chemical and biological warfare

Hizarica - blue - naval and air dominance with major penalties elsewhere

West Undin - grey - fortifications and vehicles specialties, with air and infantry penalties

Republic of East Undin - green - focus on elite "characters" with troop enhancing field tactics rather than a generic nameless, force

Syrki Empire - tan - few heavy vehicles but elite versions of main units available with advanced tech (ie lazers, flechette guns, gyro jet rifles, ect.)
