as you grab one by the head, you find that they are, in fact, meaty, and have many different colors of stuff within them. the others flee as the one you grabbed begins to leak his many colors upon your perfect crystalline form.

the goblin is already quite dead, and frankly you don't see the appeal in a meat body when you could have the solidity of stone. however, as you once suspected, buried under the meat is a body of stone, made of noble calcium.

you strip away all the meat, leaving only the stone frame it was hanging on. unfortunately this leaves the pieces separated, so you bind them together with shards from your own body. as your shards begin to vibrate the calcium stone, the goblin's frame picks itself up off the ground.

now that you know about how much these goblins weigh, it is trivial for you to feel the vibrations of their feet through the earth and track them to their lair. your new stone friend follows along, and speaks of matters philosophical to you. you would engage him in friendly debate, but as his views are very much in line with yours there is little to discuss. this is not surprising as he was until recently a part of your glorious crystalline form.

the goblins live within a grand and noble cave, and while you can appreciate this sentiment, you have decided it is time to separate the meat from the inner stone. the goblins attempt to resist, but their tiny pieces of metal do little more than scratch your glorious form.

We should pose that question to the stone-men and golblems. They should have the best perspective, as they have experienced both life as meat-beings and the purity of stone.

oh god! what have we done?! maybe there is some way of improving the stone without hurting the meat that use it to survive.
They may not share the perfection of stone and they do share much with the Great Devourer, but surely they should be given shelter with the Rock if they seek it?
we should spend some time with the dwellings, they have had most experience with the meatlings in their normal conditions...

Your new friends gathered and repairs complete, you ask the stone-men to lead you to the nearest of these great and mighty works of stone. They tell you that while they have never been there themselves, they know the way, and that it lies many weeks of travel away for a meat-man. Fortunately, bereft of meat, you will be able to move without rest towards your destination.

    >>8541220

You find it hard to speak to the inner stones without first binding to them, and such a binding invariably forces your own persona upon them. Unlike the houses, which have awakened to a degree, the inner stone of the meat-folk seems to be completely silent until forcefully awakened.

The only conclusion you can draw from this - as absurd as it seems - is that the meat-folk don't actually think with their stone.

    >>8541254

We've been in this town for at least a generation, and have seen the meat-folk die from all sorts of things. Even beings of stone may die if their structure is sufficiently destroyed, such as by being ground into fine sand or by being melted into a much less solid state.
    >> Anonymous 03/12/10(Fri)03:43 No.8541292
Perhaps these meat creatures should be allowed to continue being meaty. As we learned their way of speaking we say that the meat creatures eventually stop functioning. We could use their stone then as they seem to just bury it anyway.

Brilliant! Patience in all things. The meat-beings are left to their devices, and when they cease, their stone rejoins our brotherhood.

Let's seek out their inanimate meat repository, and disinter the discarded stone.

No stone brother. Meat could never support thought.

Only one conclusion to draw: the Water commands the meat things.

It suffuces them, powers their lifeforce, and serves them functionally without the mutilation inflicted on the meat things stone tools.

The meat things must be Water's minions.

these meatmen tend to die when they lose much of the red water inside of them. could it be they think with their water? their meat seems to be immune to the effects of water on our forms, perhaps the meat may be a vessel to trap their water, so it does not disperse and die.

An excellent suggestion - if nothing else this should prevent further damage to the more frail golblems and stone-men.

You feel about for the shape of the inner stone, and find some buried in the land nearby. Unlike the freshly liberated stones, these have some rudimentary awareness - likely from having been buried for so long (what clever thinking on the part of the meat-men). Most of them are content to rest, as they feel is their purpose, but you do manage to convince one set of stone to join your cause.

His stones are buried deepest of all, but by asking the earth politely, his form floats to the surface of the dirt.

Your binding on this one is less influential than the others - while his bones are now fused by your crystal, his persona remains intact. As is proper and just.

(And we'll probably be stopping here)

To recap, our current circle of friends consists of:
    13 golblems
    7 new stone-men
    1 elder stone-man
    2 large ore golems, iron-plated
    3 smaller ore golems

We'll continue this later, in the meantime, how the hell do we go about archiving this?

So what philosophies have we actually set up?

Stone/Crystal is the purest form of life. stable, patient and beautiful

Water is it's antithesis, shifting and chaotic

Meatmen seem to be a fusion of the two, confirmed they do not think with stone, uncertain if they think with water.

Trees are weird rapists/psychotics, possibly due to their water cores

    anything else?
