The party wakes up to find that a thick, pearly mist has swept over their tavern. Infrequently, you hear can hear short, muffled screams which are quickly (and wetly) cut short, but you cannot see anything through the windows in your rooms.

Going downstairs, you can see that the rest of the tavern's occupants are staring outside the large picture window in the front room as a raving man lays gibbering in the corner, blood coursing down his face from a gash in his forehead.

    "Ss-Ss-Something... In th-the mi-mist... I-it... T-t-took John Lee..."

The mist swirls sluggishly, and by concentrating you can make out very faint shadows moving around.

    Action?

Pic related; it is your party. Amos, the Dwarf, Syrio, the Elf, and Morris, the Human. Roll 1d6 to determine your character.: 1-2 = Amos, 3-4 = Syrio, 5- 6 = Morris.

The Chained God is the counterpart of Pelor, God of the Sun, and it is said that he is destined to forever be trapped beneath the earth unless the hubris of the Races of the Light (inhabitants of the planet) causes Pelor to turn his face away from the fate of those on the Earth. Lorn speaks quietly, keeping his voice down to avoid drawing attention from whatever may be lurking in the mist.

"Th'forts up the street here t'the main road, then a straight shot through town. M'home's on the way, if'n y'all doan mind goin' wif m-"

As the screech continues to echo, Amos and Morris feel a tightening around their ankles before they are suddenly knocked flat on their backs. It is hard to see what has grabbed hold of them, but it appears to be some kind of tentacle.

Jason manages to free Morris, but before he can smash the tentacle holding Amos, the Dwarf feels an agonizing pain in his leg. Looking down, he can see that one of the tentacles has suction cups, and the cups appear to have sprouted sharp, serrated teeth.

Diving through the roiling mist that is throughout the fort, Morris steps on something soft and pliant. Looking down, he notices that it is a human hand.

The scene before you all is a scene of carnage, as screaming men battle terrors that are weirdly deformed and, perhaps most horrifyingly of all, still sporting tatters of their former uniforms. The screams of the dying are coming from the men; the moans of the damned are emanating from the distended jaws of their superior officers.

"Ah, So all those years of baton twirling really did pay off!"

A bit more emboldened by my most recent feat, I pull the torch out of the beast with a flourish,
I then twirl the torch and attempt to smack a couple of approaching monsters.
