Let's do this a bit differently. I'm going to post some fantasy art. You guys open up Set Editor and make cards using said art. Aside for that, anything goes.

Oh, and no looking at other people's cards before posting your own. That said, post what you've got even if you think it's obvious or unoriginal- I'm really interested in seeing where /tg/'s imagination takes it.

3/3, and that's it for this time (too much variety and we wouldn't see as much parallel development).

Nothing's resized because set editor makes it easy to do that as you go. Oh, and if anyone doesn't have it yet: http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/

    Let's see where this goes.

you can't play the first ability unless you have a blue or red creature. it sucks.

the second ability is almost entirely worthless, considering you have to use planeswalker abilities on your own turn and use them only as a sorcery.

easily one of the worst made cards i've ever seen on /tg/
    >> Anonymous 04/02/10(Fri)00:28 No.8926155
    >>8925999

It's very multipurpose. In particular, tapping for mana is generally a green thing. I'd probably kill the third effect.

Pyromancer is also three mana, and doesn't require mana for its tap ability, but the added utility of an unsummon power is more than worth it. In fact, unsummon is probably worth a lot more than direct damage (U and a card gets you unsummon; R and a card gets you 3 damage rather than just 1). You might want to make the second ability cost more.

Personally I'd switch the mana types (making the creatures cost 1RU, so monoblue and monored can't field him, but then making the tap abilities hybrid mana so he's easier to use). Just a thought.

    >>8926067
Wording on the first two need re-working.

First ability should be until end of turn. 4 mana to give a red creature +0/+3 and shroud, and a blue creature +3/+0, permanently, is nuts. Add on that it's REPEATABLE, and you're fucking insane. Also with the way it's worded, you can target a Red/Blue creature with both abilities; I'm assuming that was intentional.

Second ability should read "Prevent all damage a source of your choice would deal to you this turn. Draw a card for each damage prevented this way." That allows you to do something like, tag a creature, and they can't use it to damage you, like a Tap: do one damage. With the current wording, you'd prevent it, and then draw cards as the ability is resolving. Also, "a source of your choice" is how most of them are worded, because it doesn't target. It can 'choose' things with Shroud, etc.

    Third ability is fine.

Tapping for mana IS usually green, but this is very obviously 'flavored' as a mage weaving red and blue together. It just converts mana, and barring any untap-shenanigans, it can't even use that mana for itself. I think that the ping for R mana should either do 2 to something and 1 to itself, or not cost mana, Also, agree on it being 1UR, or you'd have to keep the mana cost on the ping.

3R, Exile the top card of your library: Anarchy Dragon deals X damage to each other creature and each player, where X is equal to the exiled card's converted mana cost.

You might want to change it to "Target creature gains +3/+0 and first strike until end of turn if it is blue. Target creature gains +0/+3 until end of turn if it is red."

That way you can activate it as long as there's a creature on the board, regardless of color, if you wanna get the points up. As it is, there has to be a red and a blue, or a blue/red.

Second ability, change the wording to "Until the beginning of your next upkeep, prevent all damage a source of your choice would deal to you. At the beginning of your next upkeep, draw cards equal to the damage prevented this way", or something.

It was my intent that you need both creatures on the field to use the first ability (note that it gives some blueness to a red creature and some redness to a blue creature). It's easy to foil, which is why his second ability ("go ahead, hit me") is also a loyalty gain.

As for the third, that's actually an excellent idea to diminish the impact of 'skip upkeep' shenanigans.

Question: If an ability prevents damage to you, that also prevents damage to your planeswalkers right? Or is the second ability actually useless because they can just wack Gerom instead of you?

Really awkward wording, but it works. I think.

    >>8926406
I'm not 100% sure. Whenever non-combat damage would be dealt to you by a source your opponent controls, your opponent may elect to have that damage be dealt to any planeswalker you control, instead. I think it's a misdirection effect, but I'm not sure if you can layer it so that the "Prevent damage" thing is on the bottom of the stack, and their re-direct goes first, or not. I'd have to look. Combat damage, though, would do shit. Combat damage is assigned to the target it attacked; when the creature attacks, they declare if they're attacking you, or any planeswalker you control.

Also, if you want that ability to require 2 creatures on the field, it should be "Target creature gets X if red, and another target creature gets Y if blue".

Because it won't exile them by doing damage, and the "when CARDNAME leaves the battlefield, return all permanents exiled by CARDNAME to the battlefield" clause is part of the exiling effect, not a seperate line.

CARDNAME gets +1/+1 for each card in your hand.

Skipping your upkeep is really, really useful.

Shroud in a win-condition card might be a bad idea. Cards with a mana cost of more than 10 might as well not have mana costs; it's just going to get cheated in.

I do love the concept. This is my favorite clockfrog so far.

it usually is useful, you're right

but at most skipping your upkeep will net you neutral on the vanishing, and you'll have a 5/8 shroud "skip your draw step" for 13

shroud is so you can't bugger up the counters, the win condition is there because its what came to mind

13 because there's 13 on the face, same as the win-con, same with the 5/8, that's where the hands appear to be

Persecute is far, far more likely to take out someone's whole hand than this is. As for lands, by the third turn you're unlikely to take out more than one land anyway, which is fair for 3 mana.

Worth noting that it's broken with Dark Ritual, but then again formats with Dark Ritual also have moxes.

Woa! Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but a targetable pump effect at +1/+2 per mana looks like a pretty big deal, even for white.

Still wrapping my head around the first effect. At first it seemed like a "valiance in the face of defeat/impotence" effect, which was cool, but then I thought about how it would have him just standing idle in cases where you might want to multi-block with him, or where you might be able to finish someone off with a bolt. Which would be the opposite of valiance-in-the-face-of-defeat.

The first ability is a drawback, that's why he is entitled to the second. It pumps your other creatures, and can also be used to make enemy creatures exactly big enough for Grashin to kill.

The card has a lot of interaction and decision making, and it only has two fairly simple abilities.

Direct damage/lifeloss limited only by mana might be appropriate, but not for a warrior. I feel like that would want to be some kind of heavy-duty deathmage.

No you're not. I have no idea if it's balanced, but the "destroy X permanents" plus time counters makes for a really tasty effect. It's the James Bond villain's doomsday plot that you see coming a mile away.

I do know that it should probably be target permanents. And standard wording is "This permanent enters the battlefield with three time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter from it."

I actually couldn't find anything on gatherer that gave you control of a land.

Red and black are the colors for killing land. Black and blue are the colors for tapping enemy land. Blue is the color for bouncing land, and for exchanging lands with an opponent. I could see this as blue too but I don't think there's a presedence yet.

Yes, if a card you control makes a token the token is yours (unless otherwise specified).

This is basically Mind Control, with a second color in its cost, and in return they can't get it back by killing the enchantment.

Alternately you could look at it as rite of replication with removal tacked on and without the kicker (probably a more accurate assesment if you're dealing with indestructable/regenerating creatures).

Unable to be countered is not something you can equip. If the creature made it into play for you to target equip, then the time to counter it has already passed.
So... shroud and unblockable and double strike. "Put me on a stompy, please don't let the opponent WoG."

We're pretending that we're real designers here using real keywords. So, intangid might have features which don't apply here, but would apply if it were native to a creature.

(Not that I think unblockable/uncounterable/shroud on same creature is a good idea most of the time).

Comas make it unclear what 'or' is referring to in the first ability. Also, I'm pretty sure they could just choose to sacrifice zero creatures if all they wanted was a life gain. This appears to be 'choose one of three (generally unattractive) effects', just worded poorly.

Second ability should refer to target creature, not 'any creature of your choice' (unless you just don't think shroud should apply to this and were trying to stumble around it, which is dumb).

The synergy between the +1 and the finisher is neat.
