You are Lyra K. Feddel. You are a techpriestess designated for repairs in bases and on complex machinery. You've got very strange luck, but you're still alive and able to complete your mission.

    Sort of.

    PREVIOUSLY, ON ADEPTUS QUEST:
    >http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/9114489/

You found a lab full of foul science. You granted a Scout Marine of the Imperial Castellans the Emperor's Mercy. You found the Astartes and the Orks and the Cultists in the mess hall! You helped turn the tide of battle. You caused the (greater) Daemon of Tzeench to reveal himself, as a monstrous conglomeration of flesh, metal, and duct tape. Well, half of one.

You then ran off to complete a half-baked plan of blowing up the foul science in the lab. Now the plan is completed.

    NOW, ON ADEPTUS QUEST:

You are leaning against the door of the lab you just blew up. You have pulled the heavy locks on for the door; nothing is getting out of that place!

Suddenly, a massive roar echoes it's way back to where you are- your tactics have done something!

You hear your vox crackle to life:

"Lyra, what the hell did you do?! The damned daemon's roaring and screaming-" The daemon is loud enough to hear for yourself, and cuts in over the Marine's voice.

"AAAAAagh! MY PLANS! YOU SET BACK MY PLANS, YOU WRETCHED GIRL! I WILL PEEL THE METAL FROM YOUR FRAME AND WEAR IT AS MY CROWN. IT WILL TAKE CENTURIES TO COMPLETE THIS! AAAAAAAAARCK! RISE, DISGUSTING FLESH, USED AND EXPENDED OF PURPOSE. RISE, AND CRUSH THE LITTLE TECHPRIESTESS AND BRING ME HER BROKEN BODY."

You find yourself about as surprised as faithful Peg-Leg beside you when the corpses of the cultists twitch and shudder, pulling themselves upright as possible, drooling and bleeding and leaking- each one chanting some horrible broken code as they lurch your way, bringing broken limbs and half-functional tools to bear.

    >put the light in them, run the hell away to Astartes

You do what comes naturally- running! You put yourself ahead of Peg-Leg, tossing him the laspistol and taking aim at the reanimated cultists' legs and other locomotive limbs.

Since they are moving so slowly, it is painfully easy to put them back down. You two blast your way back to the Mess, using up two laspacks between the rifle and the pistol.

"YOU!" is your greeting from the daemon. "YOU ARE THE CAUSE OF ALL OF THIS!" It has been pushed more into the far corner by the efforts of the Astartes and the few Orks too stupid to flee.

It strikes at you with a tentacle made from hatred and copper filaments-

    >roll 2d50 t-
    >OBJECTION!

An Astartes- the one without the helmet, you realize, grabs the cord with his powerfisted hand, and PULLS. The tentacle snaps in his mighty grip, and falls, harmless. The Daemon screams, leaking blue sorrow and liquefied liver from the injury site, and backs away a little more from the force of Marines pouring bullets into it- more of the shots are getting through it's impossible shielding, but that's not saying much. The cultists have reanimated in here as well, but they are easily cut down by the Marines and the Orks besides.

More tentacles spring up from the daemon, these made from glass and silicon- they lash about, cutting at Astartes, knocking them to the ground, slicing through their sacred Power Armor like a hot knife through heretics.

They go down, barking out litanies to resist pain, to resist corruption.

The daemon screams in rage again, and starts pulling itself back towards you, Peg-Leg, and the Sergeant Astartes.

    >Use Lucky Charm!

Faced with such impossible odds, you turn to faith. You draw the charm- and the microscopic machinery inside, and pray.

The little disc hums and pings in your vox, and the daemon pauses in it's monstrous charge, as if repelled by such a blatant show of faith.

The Marines continue to pray and let their bolters show their devotion, advancing again to assault with power fists.

    >Be irritating as all get out, continue prayers

You plug into the control panel and flip on the sprinklers again- the daemon shrieks in anger even as parts of it spark and smoke.

Then you pray. You pray loudly, over the speakers. You pray loudly over the speakers in Binaric, weaving in commands to shut down, to cease, to stop befouling this ship.

You hold onto the charm as you pray. It continues to ping and hum.

The marines get within assault range. Powerfists come crashing down on the horrible daemon, shattering glass and bone, shredding lightning made of hate, striking aside it's terrible head full of teeth. One marine has devoted himself to holding the great beast's mouth shut- you realize that is the Astartes you first met. His work is noble and dangerous- he has already lost a lower leg. You promise to aid his augmentation surgery.

A single Apothecary drags his brothers away from the daemon. Those that can, pray with you best they can.

    >look daemon bitz
The half-of-a-daemon is glass and silicon and flesh taken from the cultists. It takes the shape of some horrible, monstrous bird. It has a hollow 'core' with a large spheroid made of hate, Warp and more hate. And lightning. It has two arms, enough tentacles, and great wings of glass and silica sewn with tendons. It has a long neck, and a long, narrow beak, filled with sharp teeth.

It has bands of profaned Dukta- silvery adhesive tape usually laced with protective runes and litanies. This has been perverted to the work of Chaos. You strongly suspect this is what is 'sticking' the daemon to the Materium; Marines hacking at it have caused tentacles and chunks to fall off and break into it's constituent parts.

The things it is made up of are no longer identifiable to you as machines; it is only Daemon parts now.

You keep praying, repeating yourself, letting catechisms you haven't spoken for years spill out of your vox and through the speaker systems. The Lucky Mechanus Symbol is warm in your grip, and pings even louder.

The daemon continues to roar and thrash, knocking down Marines its terrible lashes. One Astartes has lopped off an arm, but to no real detriment of the daemon. It fixes its baleful, hatred-filled eyes made from blood and lightning upon you, and-

You lean against the wall of the doorframe, loyal Peg-Leg on your other side, and continue your prayers, still reciting from memory, careful to not let your cogitators let them spill from your brain automatically- your faith must be legitimate for it to work.

The daemon seems to contract and shrink under the barrage of faith, but it is no less deadly. It swings it's head hard, slamming the Astartes you know into the wall, causing him to fall to the ground and lay still, so still.

The other Astartes yell at this and redouble their efforts to damage the Daemon. The only thing that seems to affect it are the powerfists, and the daemon knows it- it targets them first, lashing them with it's tentacles, slamming it's remaining arm into them, snipping their arms off and cackling with glee.

The Astartes' numbers have halved by now. You still have faith you can cut the daemon down, but at what cost? At this rate, you'll lose everyone- and without the Astartes to help you, how will you save your ship?
