You are the Crab King, Emperor of the Crustacean Kingdom of Crustacea. You are 44 feet long, 60 with your legs, and are almost outgrowing your LAIR within the USS Michigan, a sunken aircraft carrier. When we last left you, you were contemplating your next move against the fearsome Sharks and Rebel Shrimp, hiding within the coral reef to the North.

Shootrimp, a trusted pistol shrimp huntsman, led a hunter-killer team through the reef a few days ago. He found no traces of the rebels, but DID find the corpse of Blasticlaw, the rebel leader you maimed and exiled into the Sharks' lands. He had been making sacrifices of shrim to them in exchange for their loyalty.

I would say fap furiously but the Crab in OPs pic seems to have done enough of that to last a life time.

I guess..... attempt to raise an army of lesser crabs, and maybe lobsters, use this army to deal with the shrimp menace. Hack them to bloody ribbons with that fapping claw.

Your subjects number in the tens of thousands, though only around 3,400 live within your LAIR. They are well fed by your kelp fields and hunter-gatherer teams.

There are 18 living members in your CLAW COVEN, a band of elite warriors dressed in armor made of your very own molted carapace! There are also around 30 initiates.

A rough estimate of your subjects in the LAIR:
    ~700 Mantis Shrimp
    ~1500 crabs of varying species
    ~300 Lobsters
    ~500 Pistol Shrimp
    ~500 Isopods

Man with a plan right here.

You scuttle to your new mount. It is healing, and will be able to carry you in a day or two. Your subjects have been breeding this whole time, explaining why the number of subjects in your LAIR has rarely ever dipped below 3,000 crustaceans. Shootrimp is willing to retrieve Blasticlaw's corpse, but it will take a day. He may also be attacked by sharks on the way.

Using you ENHANCED INTELLECT, you order your subjects to begin a cavalry program. Though the heavily armored lobsters are slow, they will make excellent mounts for your Pistol shrimp or ten mantis/pistol hybrids.

Any shit one could find in the "Middle Atlantic" is fair game. You used to see pods of whales on occasion, but there have been fewer and fewer coming each season to your horrifying and mutant section of the sea-floor (eight foot long mantis shrimp are your small-fry troops. shit's fucked). To the far south, sperm whales and all manner of squid are locked in eternal conflict, to the north, various kinds of sharks thrive, to the east, unknown, and to the west ancient protocrabs live.

Your subjects cover a broad range of species, such as fiddler, mud, and dungeness crabs. Blue lobsters and their ilk, mantis and pistol shrimp, and you swear you saw some horseshoe crabs somewhere once upon a time. Anything one would find in a reef can be found in the reef to the north.

Really, I have a loose grasp of marine biology. If it swims, its here.

You arm your three cannon claws and let loose a deafening hail of bubbles. The coral snaps and shatters as dazzling particles of the reef fly off into the sea. Colorful fish scatter as you blast to the heart of Blasticlaw's territory, until eventually you are within his main base of operations. The clearing is nearly entirely enclosed in the coral, and his limp form is skewered on a sharp rock ahead of you. The area is about three hundred feet across and one hundred feet long.

Your pincers clack with anticipation. This does not sit well with you. You scuttle up and investigate. Blasticlaw retains the scars of his brush with you, his eyes gouged out and his pistol claws snapped off (which now sit pretty on your arm). The thing, sharp bit of coral pierces his shell at the base of his tail and pokes out of the top of his head. He is well and truly finished.

Your ENHANCED INTELLECT tells you he died days ago, shortly after his combat with you. This doesn't coincide with the story the rebel protocrab chieftain told you. Blasticlaw has been dead for much longer than it would've taken to inform the protocrabs of your fight with the sharks.

priority #1: fuck up those ampullae of lorenzini

the shark's magnetic sensory array is the key to its ability to strike. they don't use their eyes during fights, those are closed during strikes. the gills will be armored by its scales, but the ampullae must lie at the surface to be effective. once they are disabled the shark is just a big helpless guppy to be dissected at out leisure!

You'll be on your back, and unable to REND.

You pray to Bloodshell for aid in this battle, and he grants you EXTENDED SPINES! Your bronze carapace becomes thicker and your spines extend in length! You impale the shark with your carapace, and are now stuck on it!

It thrashes wildly to shake you off, but you hold fast! It now appears to be diving towards the sea floor in an effort to rub you off!

You retreat from the cargo hold back outside to see what the shell is going on. Through one of the holes in the side of the ship, you make out a rather large figure shifting around inside.

That must be the source of the creaking, but what is it?

    >> Crabmaster !vuOBu6g15U 04/26/10(Mon)22:21 No.9452396
The eel happily indulges in its life story. It started off small, a little smaller than your size long ago. It grew up in the deep abyss, where its eyes were of little use. Its tongue is used to detect heat and scent, like a snake. You notice that long and thin teeth line its sizable mouth, also.

It moved into this wreck ages ago after it witnessed the Kraken attack. It was harmed by the adolescent Kraken when it moved in to take up residence in the shipwreck. You notice a large set of scars that look like sucker-marks, which corroborate with its story. The eel is content with its peaceful life, snapping up jellyfish and other things that chance by. Its large teeth would easily break on your carapace though.

The eel informs you that it saw a group of things that look a lot like your troops moving northward along the edge of the reef, they were escorted by very big sharks. It also mentions one even bigger shark, covered in scars. There was also a particularly big shrimp, too.

The eels tell you that humans brought with them terrible weapons and large iron whales. They used loud explosions to kill the thing after tying it up with strong cables. It felt a pang of sorrow for the baby Kraken as it watched its mother die.

The eel sees many things, including occasional turtle families that pass by. It actually saw a blue whale go by the other day!

We really need to appease bloodclaw later with some rebel slaughter and shark slaying.

You're a crabby visionary? Anyway, I'm off to bed once more. Good quest, guys, you managed to not kill too many things!

Not sure if I'll post tomorrow. If I don't have something up by like seven EST, then I won't be doing Crab Quest. If there's no CQ tomorrow, then I'll definitely have it going the next day!

    Happy crabbing!

well that big green spot on the map is shark territory

    we want to continue expanding

meaning unless we take them out we've got enemy territory in our midst, this is bad

so we'll take em out, sooner rather than later

ah didn't we just take out a huge shark, I mean come on we did battle in it's belly and smashed out it's chest

bloodshell has got to give us something for that

Yes, Bloodshell should be pleased with our righteous slaughter of the shark. but it also illustrates the problem with sharks, we're the only one in our kingdom who can effectively combat them, and then only one on one or in uncoordinated groups.

Sharks are going to require nuance.
