You cautiously move to the gas station door.
The rear van has been peeled like a grape. Bits of charred bone, flesh, metal, and rubber are strewn across the parking lot. Walters, Superior McSuspiciousFace, and Coolbro Broglassesbro have exited the front van and are firing on the entity, with little results.
The entity itself is shimmering its way through the rubble of the van, slavering spectral tongues tasting at the scorched metal and withered, grotesque hands piecing through the broken bits, looking for the hedron.

    Continued from >>9760642

Coolbro Broglassesbro has fetched some kind of device from the back of the remaining van, some kind of backpack attached to a magnetic coil. He aims it at the creature, but doesn't fire; the three survivors seem to be thinking of retreating.
The entity ignores everything but the hedron, having found it underneath a scorched ribcage.

I personally say we stay with the Arhkam guys. They are the only ones capable of even fighting this thing. They're our best bet for survival. Even if we are discovered, it isn't exactly like things are the way they were a few months ago in the facility. They might be willing to teach us how to use our blood powers against the entity. After all, it seems to have some effect. When we used it the first time on it it stepped back and reconsidered us. Arhkam might be able to teach us more.

    >a pretty good idea
You edge your way around the side of the store. The clerk has a nondescript white sedan parked on the side of the building. Behind you, you hear the squealing of tires as the van drives away. That settles that.

You quickly hotwire the vehicle, pulling forward. The entity is still transfixed by the hedron. As you start to turn the wheel to get on the road, you see something that gives you pause.
Walters is inside the gas station, presumably looking for you.
Maybe that doesn't quite settle that.

I say we run. We already know we can't fight that thing. We know it's related to 13, and 13's powers made us lose months of time, 52, all of Miami, and teleported us to the heartland. We don't know how to use the weapons the Arkham crew brought along. We'd be a liability to them if we stayed.

We're probably considered officially dead by Arkham. We've told an OK lie so far to the Arkham crew, but they're going to figure it out if we stick around. If we run now, and they're NOT killed and they manage to pick us up again, we can claim we were frightened by the fighting and ran.

If we run and are not picked up, we can pretend to be whoever we want to be.

    We'll be free.

    good enough for me.

You pull up to the front, shouting into the gas station. Walters looks up at you, as does the clerk, who seems to think this must all be some sort of horrible dream. Walters dashes out of the station, slides across the hood and jumps into shotgun. The clerk trips on his way out, but pulls himself up and dives into the rear of the car as you peel out of the parking lot, leaving the horrifying entity to its plaything.
"Lady, this is....sort of my car," the clerk says quietly.
    "Are you alright?" Walters asks.

"This might not be the best time," Garfield says quietly. "But I'm getting pretty hungry."

"Look, before we go anywhere, you need to....well, look."
You extend a wrist, letting a small tendril of your blood extrude itself. Garfield is really hungry; the blood is visibly steaming. Walters looks a mixture of enraptured and frightened.
    "What the...."
"Now here's the bad news," you cut him off. "My blood needs to consume living matter about once a day. He hasn't been fed in a while."
(Note: concealing your blood's sentience and your foreknowledge about Arkham unless people express a desire to come clean with that information as well.)
Walters swallows hard. "Can we get you like...a burger or something?"

"What's your name, anyway?" you ask. "Your first name."
"It;s...Jacob." he mumbles, still staring at your blood as it seeps back into your veins.
"Okay," Garfield says. "I've been really polite. But this is getting unbearable." You remember nights in Arkham; your blood was never fed in Arkham, except once on an orderly. When Garfield doesn't feed, he eventually releases his heat through your skin. It's...less than pleasant.
"Can we find an animal or something? This is geting really...unbearable" Garfield scoffs.

(using the 87 cause I love you guys so much)

About a half an hour later, Walters manages to hit a coyote with his sidearm. You've been trying to help hunt, but have mostly been clutching your knees and rocking back and forth. It feels like your veins are blistering. When he drags the carcass over, your blood practically explodes out of you, flooding over the corpse and burning it to dust. Walters looks disgusted as your blood slowly dribbles back into you, somewhat satiated; there is nothing of the coyote left.

You explain everything that's happened so far. (still leaving out Garfield, as no one's really said "let's tell him our blood talks to us"). Walters listens intently; his eyes flash anger for a moment when you tell him that you are Subject 82, an Arkham escapee. When you finish, he thinks for a long moment. The night is still; you're driving again, putting distance between yourselves and the entity.
"Well, you're not exactly the only Arkham escapee we have on our hands at the moment," he says. "You seem like you've got..." he eyes your scarred wrists, "...MOST of your shit together. And 13, as far as I can tell, was tearing shit apart before you ever touched her. Everything went to hell in the weeks after her escape though; subjects at Arkham used the chaos to start a fucking riot like you wouldn't believe. Most of them have gone to ground or started terrorizing cities, the eastern coast is under martial law. We've moved headquarters to another station outside Chicago; this one was for research, so we've had to confine what few subjects we have left under some pretty shoddy circumstances."
    He pauses, thinking.
"The best I can do for you is to let you go. I need to join up with the rest of the survivors within a few days, and if you're with me they're going to find out about you. I can say you were nothing more than a kansas girl, that I dropped you off at your house just like you said."

In a few hours, you pull next to a motel and let Walters out. He gives you his number. "Call when you get a phone," he says. "I'd give you mine, but you're smart enough to know they'd just trace that. This is my home line. I assume it isn't tapped. If you're interested in tracking some of these guys down, they probably know more about what was done to you on the inside. A lot of the employees on the research staff were actually prisoners; they had some kind of super-brain or psychic powers or, fuckin', something that made it so we couldn't let them out on the street."
"13's still at the center of that fucking maelstrom that used to be Miami. We're lucky it hasn't moved in weeks, but everything that goes near it invariably turns to glass or worms or...fuck, I think once a troop transport got turned into a school bus full of kids."

He waves as you drive off. The sun's starting to come up.

You got a .38 snub-nose out of the glove compartment of a stolen car.
You got a .45 caliber revolver off a suicide.
you still have bullets for the 38

The beast flings a jeep at you, but you dodge pretty handily. You notice, however, that Garfield doesn't seem to have any ability to boost your speed/agility.
You arc your arm out, the blood wrapping around the beast's neck. A little short of the eyes, but it still grapples at its throat as its outer flesh begins to sizzle.

The best reaches forward and grabs at the whip, jerking upwards. You are pulled bodily off the ground, your arm wrenching painfully as it bears your weight suddenly.
    >>9768115
    >90
...You plant your feet on the beast's chest as it tries to lift you, and kick out and upwards. You swing up, past its snapping teeth, and land on its broad shoulders, just behind its elongated head.
    >>9768117
    >94
You arc out with the other whip, wrapping twice around the creatures head. Then you jump off the creature's back.
Gravity pulls you taut about halfway down. You hold on as your are whipped back and forth by the frenzy of the beast as it claws at its cooking skin.
It's struggles grow more frantic, when you abruptly feel the tension on the whips go slack, and you fall to the ground. Looking up, you dodge falling pieces of smoldering crocodile-head.

The beast topples behind you, gobs of steaming flesh spilling out onto the highway. What people have not already fled in abject terror stare at you, disbelieving of what just happened.

Someone, somewhere, begins slow clapping. A few others join in.
Garfield begins feasting heartily on the beast's corpse.
The slow clap dies out as people begin screaming and fleeing again.

Probably the best DM to date, at least from my point of veiw. No railroad, great creativity, and unheard of problem solving keep it up.
On that note though I think we ought to keep an eye on our moral scale. While we might not always be evil it'd be a stretch to say we're good.
