Sorry for the delay, I had to get my car back from it's service after months of putting it off.

You are ace mobile suit pilot David Lister, Commander in the Principality of Zeon and team leader of the elite Nactmaren Unit's MS force.
Last week news that his father: Degwin Zabi had fallen ill had reached our de-facto CO, Lord Captain Garma Zabi, and he sent both you and famous ace Lt. Ramba Ral as his personal emmisaries to assess the old duffers situation.

You decided to shore up support and after a visit to Pezun to pick up YET MORE awesome tech you visited Space Fortress Solomon to try and get Dozle Zabi on board.
You have just arrived in your usual flashy fashion: dragging a surrendered Trojan Horse class Carrier behind you.

As you dock with the giant former resource asteroid. You and your crew are met personally by Dozle Zabi himself.
He appears to be his usual bombastic self.

"You never can resist a flashy entrance can you Lister! Ha Ha Ha Ha!" he booms.

"Hmph. All the technology in the world can't save you from poor leadership." Ramba Ral comments as he leaves his own Zanzibar.

"Hmmm... I wonder if this means we'll have to give you ANOTHER Zeon Cross?" Dozle muses.

"How about you just start giving them to the rest of my team? Even things out a bit? Were probably due for another round of promotions as well."

Everyone laughs, but then Dozle become's serious.

"So, what exactly brings you to Solomon Commander?" he asks.

    YOUR REPLY?

"Essentially, as soon as lord Garma heard about his father, he sent us to personally assess Lord Degwins condition. We were wondering if you wished to join us in our journey to Side 3 to ask for an audiance." You explain.

    Dozle considers this.

"I have been considering it myself when I heard, but the Federation forces out of Luna 2 have been getting aggressive, demanding my full attention. Perhaps with your latest coup the Federation will quieten down. Come stay the night here in Solomon whilst our scientists start picking through the ship, and we will see what the situation is like tommorow. I'll make my decision then. Unless you think time is a pressing issue and must leave now."

    wait.
Spend the rest of this day with the techie's as they pick the trojan horse apart.

Give as much anecdotal evidence as you can on the function and application of the federation technology, try to help the techs understand how effective these weapons are.

Upload data from calvin's flipper, and any/all gun cam footage of the fight. Especially any data on the guntanks we blew up.

Basically, dump every last piece of knowledge we have onto the brains at Solomon.

propaganda is an important part of war. Yes, though it'd be better if the Feddies didn't know that. Given that I wasn't able to suggest we blow up the escort Salamis last thread, though, the Federation probably already knows we yoinked one of their Pegasi, so the opportunity to make them thing we blew it to pieces rather than took it largely intact has probably already been lost.

After taking a short excursion to New York to hob nob with the big wigs, the Tojan Horse was spotted inside a large stadium (I think it was Madison Square Garden). Garma went out with Char, Midnight Fenrir and a shitload of Dopps to attack it. Once we found out that we were being left out, we followed. Garma managed to get out alive while the Horse was damaged, though Fontain lost his life by crashing aa damaged Gaw into it. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to destroy it, and it flet out over the ocean. So, we're off canon rails, as Garma is alive and the Trijan Horse is going in a different direction from canon.

Then we got news that Papa Zabi is ill, so Garma sent us and Ramba to check up on him, and to introduce Isalina. We decided to stop at Pezun and Solomon for reasons already stated in the OP, and while traveling to Solomon from Pezun we came under attack from a Pegasus class carrier and two Salamis cruisers. Because of the Pegasus captain's tactical errors, we were able to defeat its complement of fighters and Mobile Suits and force it to surrender. That's where we left off.

We had kill markings back when we were in Mastodon Battalion. I think we stopped because it was hard as hell to keep track of all the things we had killed, and we were running out of space for new kills.

I think its been at least 40 threads since our last confirmed kill count, although if you limit it to mobile suits and land battleships and the like, we might be able to get a figure we can find space to stencil on ourselves somewhere.

Given how many things you've killed? It's entirely possible that Ookawara may have given up.

As for a shield, whilst there are no dedicated shields inside the Trojan Horse, you might be able to craft some kind of rudimentary sheild, similar to the old Boxer Shields that you used to use back on El Muerto Grande.

As for other salvage and battle data, engineers have only just gotten on board, it's going to be a fair few days before a proper idea is gotten of what this ship has to offer.

Look at it this way: That trojan horse, the combat data, and the technology itself are going to give us information FAR more valuable than anything the crew can offer.

At this point, the crew itself would only be useful for getting feddy plans and operational policy and shit out of. They really aren't anywhere near as valuable as a trojan horse.

Whilst you are allotted rooms in the Officers Quarters you take the oppourtunity to catch up on how the other fronts are doing.

With regards to the earth. The US front has quietened down on the Canadian front as the colder winter months begin to set in.
In the south however, the Rio-Grande Line is being pressed harder as Mobile Suits filter into the Federal forces stationed in Mexico.

In Europe, only France and Germany remain in Federal hands, supported by forces from Dublin.

Northern Asia is Zeon, southern Asia remains Federal, with the coastal routes to the asian seas guarded by forces from Australia. Intense fighting persists in the Philipenes, Tibet and southern China as well as Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Arabic peninsula.

Africa is now largely under Zeon control since Kilemanjaro fell last month.

In space, Zeon controls almost all areas aside from space fortress Luna 2, and Side 7. Then there are the neutral areas on the moon and Side 6.

The Jupiter Energy fleet remains neutral, and nobodies stupid enough to try and force the issue.

A quick hit and run where we don't deploy any mobile suits (obviously) and try to strike something important that would cripple them before running off somewhere.

A bit far fetched, I'll admit, but it can't be any more far-fetched than capturing an intact Trojan Horse, really.

Just an idea to mull over

They're basically the main source of fuel for both sides. Without getting fuel from them we (or the Federation, or both) would be fucked.

Yes, but why would no one want to try to take them over? Are they very powerful? From what I've seen, if they're relying on battleships they're screwed since MS are superior.
    >> Anonymous 05/21/10(Fri)14:11 No.9963770
    >>9963676

They aren't powerful, but Jupiter is simply so far away it'd take us at least a year to get there. By that time the war would be over. In the Federation's favor, since the JEF could simply stop fueling both sides and without MS our troops on the ground would be defeated.
    >> Sgt. Varn 05/21/10(Fri)14:12 No.9963779

The JEF holds a monopoly on Helium-3, which is required for Starship and MS operation. Pissing them off would mean we run out of gas real quick and can't do shit anywhere.

And while I'm not sure about during the OYW, later on in Zeta era, the JEF have their own MS forces, so they could probably defend themselves.

The JEF only militarized because the Titans started shit, IIRC. Still, attacking the JEF in an attempt to seize control of the fuel supply would be like detonating the sun to try and knock out the Federation's solar energy supply: NO GOOD THINGS CAN COME FROM IT.

Jesus, you people want to ATTACK the Jupiter Energy Fleet? That's the single worst idea in the history of Zeonquest, no fucking joke. The Jupiter Energy Fleet is a neutral organization that gathers Helium-3 from Jupiter's atmosphere, the element we need to power our shit. They're neutral because neither side wishes to disrupt the flow of said resource. Also their neutrality is guaranteed by the Antarctic Treaty.

    So that idea is out.

I vote we check in on the deployment and disposition of the force's deployed to Solomon. See what suits are frontline, and how our Combined Arms Doctrine might apply. Also, be sure to ask Dozle if he's implemented our Theses at all.

Looking up how your Combined Arms doctrine is doing in space. Several of your ancilliary notes on Warship/Mobile Suit/Space Fighter have begun to be incorporated. That said, modifications have been made, which doesn't suprise you as most of your body of work is for Ground Operations on earth. You probably don't have time.

That evening you have a nice dinner in the officers mess with Dozle and Ramba Ral. You discuss how the space front has been going with him.
It seems that while even though the blockade around Luna 2 is as heavy as it is, Federal Forces are still able to push through under rare occaisions. Counter-Assaults on the fortress always end badly due to the excellent defensive network surrounding the fortress.

You in turn discuss Garma's progress, the Gundam and the Trojan Horse, as well as your other missions such as Jaburo and in Mexico.

The next morning you awaken with a message in your in-tray to see Admiral Dozle in his office.
You promptly get dressed to see what his answer is.

Why would we want Guncannons? I'd rather we start fielding Gelgoogs and Kaempfers.

Also, something I've been wanting to suggest since before our first Jaburo attack: burn the rainforest. All of it. Some high-level firebombing should be sufficient to damage - if not completely destroy - the Feddie's surface installations and without the jungle to camouflage their stuff we should be able to get more accurate information on where the entrances to their underground facilities are located.

Then Jolyne reminds you of the Karoke competition in Hawaii. Oh god, you'd forgotten all about that.

In the evening you go over various officer testimonials and try to put more into the space combat side of your combined arms doctrine. From the looks of it, whilst there's nothing wrong with using Space Fighters as harassing forces to keep control of the flanks, logistically they die too easily and often there are too few of them (or rather pilots for them) to make that tactic consistently viable.
You recommend they build a better space fighter, but in the off chance that comes off as flippant, you try to think up alternate strategies.

Sort something out with Ramba Ral, he knows the political territory here better then we do. Ask him what the best approach would be; should we walk in the palace front door and demand to see Degwin, or is a more subtle method needed, perhaps one that might bypass having to deal with Gihren.

As an aside to this, see if Ramba Ral has any contacts he might be able to well, contact, to find out where Degwin is and whats been going on the past few days.

We should run this like a military operation; gather intel, form a plan, and then act swift and violently.

You ask Ramba Ral about making contacting any contacts he has here to try and get a meeting with Degwin.

"Hmmm. If were lucky, Adrmial Rawlings might still be stationed here. He's a Gihren Faction member, but he's also one of Degwins original supporters during the formation of the Republic of Zeon. I'll try to make contact. You try to keep out of trouble for a few hours."

Okay, in as non-conspicious clothing as possible you and the rest of the gang catch an early movie. You have a good laugh as the pre-film feature is a propaganda piece about the new Dom that VASTLY exaggerates it's abilities. Including full flight, the ability to use two zooks a time and the scattering beam gun is now a full beam cannon.
Although that last one is pretty close to how the Pezun Dowdage works.

You leave after watching the film and check your messages, you have 1 new message from Ramba Ral.

    MESSAGE FROM: RAL
SUBJECT: Don't return to the ship.

Attempts to make contact with Admiral Rawlings has turned out badly. Rawlings has been transferred to Grenada city, and our docking pass has mysteriously dissappeared. Both ships and their crew have been impounded and aren't allowed to leave the docks. I'm currently trying to give the pretense of dealing with the situation legitimately.
Find somewhere quiet and keep your head down, these appear to be delaying tactics and shouldn't take more than a day to deal with. I'll contact you later on an anonymous phone later as the situation develops. My call signal will be "Burns Night".

The point here is to stay mobile.

Why do you think these "delaying tactics" are happening? Because they want to find us. The ship impound is just cutting one of our mobility options out of the scenario, we can expect pressure to mount as they intensify the search.

I'm willing to bet that Gihren is after whatever is in that letter that Dozle is trying to get to dear old daddy. We should consider stashing the letter somewhere not on our person, in case we are brought in.

We may also want to split our squad into two smaller units that keep separate from each other but maintain contact.

Also, if we have time, draft dummy copies of Dozle's letter and give one to each member of the squad. Falsify all copies with conflicting information.

So I'm seeing 3 lines of suggested action.

1: Go on the offensive and loudly announce our presence as Zeonic war heroes to the public and what were doing here.

    "Hello?" Your other asks.

"Hello, I represent Allbright Treble Glazing, have you considered the advantages that professional treble glazing would afford you in energy efficiency?" you reply in your best Side 2 accent, delivering the code-phrase you used to use back on side-6 that you feared the lines were under surveillance.

"No thank you, we had the windows trebles glaze last year, now if you must excuse me my time is pressing."
She replies giving the countersign to meet at the nearest park.

We don't actually have any concrete idea wtf is going on right now, all we know is that the Zeon military has forcibly impounded two ships belonging to it's (arguably) greatest heroes.

After relating your tale to her she considers it at length.

"You're fathers going to be very upset."

    "Why?"

"He's always had fears that Gihren would make some kind of power-play."

    "So? He loves being right."

"Yes, but you see we've only just redecorated the house."

    "Uh what?"

"And now were going to have to blow it up and fake our own deaths in order to get you out of this."

"You really don't have to mother if you don't want to. At the moment it just looks like were being delayed. Nobodies made any overt moves yet or anything."

"Yes, but you see dear, Gihren's a dick."

"Uh. As a member of the Zeon Military I'm not sure if I'm supposed to even answer that."

"It always shocked the both of us how so many people fail to realise this. We're also certain that he had Zeon Zum Deikum assasinated with poisoned tea."

    "I. What? How?"

"Well, he launched the cup into space you see in order to foul the evidence chain and by luck your father managed to salvage it during his work as a solar panel technician."

    "Oh god what?"

"So you see, we have been planning something along these lines for quite a while. The hard part now will be finding someone from the Kycillia or Pro-Degwin camp with the balls and will to prosecute. I suspect all of our current candidates are going to have mysteriously been forced to move out under "Overpopulation redistribution laws" that Gihren passed through this morning."

    "Lister..." Jolyne comments.

You ask about blowing up your house.

"Well, my idea is that firstly your friends, they would be the rest of the Nachtmaren Unit I assume should come over here from their frankly pisspoor attempt at disguising themselves. The propaganda boy's have finally begun to notice that you appear to have picked up a frankly ridiculous kill rating."

"Honestly mother I sort of stopped counting once I got past 300 total kills."

"I think Zolomon's leading on battleship and land-battleship kills though." Jolyne supplies

"He DOES make it look stupidly easy." You state.

"In anycase, the reason why we never went to the authorities was that we could never be sure if Degwin or Kycillia were in on the plot in the first place. Now however, if you're information is correct, then Gihren has greatly simplified the matter."

"Simplified is good right?" Jolyne asks.

"It's usually good for SOMEONE. Doesn't have to be us." You tell her.

"Essentially, he's made a direct move against Degwin. Assuming the old man is alive then all we need to do is reach and extricate him from whatever gilded cage Gihren has secreted him and it will be checkmate. We may never actually need the cup. In anyrate, you should all come over the house and we'll go and blow it up."

    "Uh. shouldn't we tell dad?"

"Oh, I'm sure your father will be more than aware of what's happening, you know how he is."

"Can I at least get my Guitar?"

"Why? It's not like you could ever play it."

At this point it's all but guaranteed to come to civil war. Can you imagine David Lister doing anything other than flying to Solomon at top speed to show Dozle the evidence of what his brother did, then straight to earth to show it to Garma as well.

Only real option I can see working is to blast off with a rescued Degwin. We get to Solomon at full speed to explain what's going on to Dozle. Minovsky particles will help us out massively here because Gihren won't be able to send a message saying "terrorists on this ship blow it up or it'll try to bomb you". We then book it to Garma again hopefully ahead of anything Gihren can do to stop us. This'll inevitably lead to civil war but I can't really see any other choice. Problem is that if we have Zeon in civil war the feddies could steamroll the lot of us so I guess the only choice would be to...

Make an alliance with the feddies before Gihren can?

It's unlikely that he does, and even if he did, we are some of Zeon's most visable heroic figures. Anything he tries to charge us with will have to be Ironclad.
After all, any move against us will leave an opening for Kylicia to help us out and gain our support.
It's far more likely that he'll try to subvert us. We are easily some of Zeon's greatest heros, and we are not Garma's best friend like Char. We could be very, very useful to him, and he probably knows that.

As you journey to your mothers house you receive a second message from Ramba Ral.

    FROM: Unknown
    SUBJECT: Festivities this Burns Night
Are still being given the ring around. Ships still impounded, but no overt moves are currently being played. I believe the current implications I am getting from the authorities are that our papers will appear to magically sort themselves if we move to leave. Deft questioning has revealed the following: All primarily Pro-Degwin members of the Admiralty have be removed from postions of power within Side 3. Sever have been transferred, others have been retired or smeared. I have seen new-reports of another two of them being killed in a car crash this morning. I find it somewhat strange that two men with their own cars and chauffers should be carpooling together. Also, the name of the hospital Degwin was sent to is "St Diana's Hospital" In southern Zum city. The physician that saw him was Dr Ormar, who is NOT the usual palace physician. He is however a man in Gihren's employ, his address is listed in hardcopy phone listings (do not use the networked systems, unsecure) Follow these leads and remain undetected.
    Blue G.

You reach your house and spot the car with the ZIRCON member inside. You resist the urge to wave at him.
Luckily, Zolomon doesn't notice the agent, as you're almost certain that HE wouldn't have been so restrained.

You ask your mother if she knows about a "Dr Ormar".

"Oh yes, that's an easy one, he was the doctor first on the scene when Deikum had his heart attack."

"Oh dear. He appears to have been the attending physician on Degwin when he was taken to St Diana's Hospital as well."

You relate the rest of Ramba Ral's message to her (after you check for bugs).

"It's nice to have clues I suppose... Tea?"

"Should we be getting our stuff and opening up the trap-doors?" You ask.

"I'm revising the plan. You should tell Mr Ral to make a move to leave. Then you and he should both return to the docks. Once you're out of Zum control's visual range. Spread minovsky particles and move back into close range. Me and your father will set up a laser-communications network with your ship, and try to see if we can find out where Degwin is being held. With a bit of luck we might not even have to blow up the house. Maybe."

You resolve to take the guitar before you leave.

You all have a fairly nice light dinner whilst you text back to Ramba Ral telling him to go along with things and that you'll meet him back in the Docks.

    You ask about the Tea-Cup.

"Well, I'm not sure if either Dozle or Garma will be willing to accept the evidence at face value. Gihren's brotherly bonds have always been stronger than he deserves. In any case, it certainly can't stay here now. Another option is to give it to neutral Side 6, although that may provoke them into action that could jeopardise their neutrality. Side 6 may be in a good position right now, but they're no Jupiter Energy Fleet."

In any case you take the tea-cup, after hiding it in your guitar.

"Goodbye dear, and be good. Or failing that, be careful."

    "Uh. Thanks mom."

You leave in shower of tittering and good natured ribbing.
Roughly 40 minutes later you're back in the docks face to face with Ramba Ral.

"Well, they're going to let us leave without incident, but I get the feeling that they aren't going to let us back in for any reason once we go. So I hope you have some kind of plan."

"I'd rather we talked about it once we're in space." You answer.

Once aboard you get the impression that "customs officials" went rooting about the place while you were gone. Nothing got taken, but it wasn't the sort of treatment that anyone here was expecting.

"He David. What's going on?" Captain Mauser asks.

"You know that worse case scenario that Garma outlined at the start of this mission?"

    "Oh bollocks."

You take off with minimal troubles and are leaving Zum Colony space within minutes.

Uhhhh, guys, just had a thought here.

Why would a house just explode in a space colony? I'm guessing everything is electrically powered, as storing large amounts of cooking and heading gas would not only take up a lot of room, but be retardedly dangerous, so a faulty gas main really isn't very good cover.

If a house just ups and explodes, especially one filled with persons of interest that are under surveillance, that's going to throw up a lot of red flags in the intelligence community.

Might I suggest something a little more suitable for a space colony accident, like electrical fires, or a short out that causes some doors to open and explosively decompress a section that the family just happens to be visiting/working in.

Garma sits at his desk, his face in his hands, tears pooling in the corners of his eyes. He couldn't believe it, but everything David and Ramba had told him checked out. The tea cup had Gihren's prints all over it and traces of poison. Char, fucking Char came clean on the spot, about who he was. It took three soldiers to hold him back, to keep him from stealing a ship and heading off to kill Gihren. Garma was feeling the same way. Their father. He'd poisoned their father.

"I don't know what to do, Dave. I don't know what the fuck to do."

David stood silently against the back wall, his face obscured by shadows. He couldn't believe what he was about to say, but it was what he believed. "You have to kill him, Garma."

    Garma didn't respond.

"It has to be quick. And quiet. I'm a soldier, sir. This is what I know. If you confront Gihren, it will be anarchy. Zeon will fall apart. The Feds will mop us up here on earth. Survivors will have to escape to space where it will be open warfare against everyone. A massive clusterfuck of epic proportions." David lit a cigarette. He'd picked up the habit recently. The occasions seemed to call for it more and more often. "But if Gihren were to die in his sleep. An aneyrism. Hemmorage. Heart attack. Stroke. Then no one has to know what he did. No one has to declare war on each other. And Zeon is unified."

"But where does it stop, David?" Garma looked up at him, his face streaked with salty tears. "How far do I go before I become the same as him?"

"You go as far as you need to. Until you can't anymore. You don't go for yourself. You go for your friends, you family, and Zeon. You do what is right. What you can, when you can, for as long as you can. Until you can't anymore."

Garma turned in his chair. Looked out a window at the hills of California. He swallowed hard. "Do it. Do whatever it takes. Get it done."

Once out of sesor range, you begin to lightly spread Minovsky particles and drift back on inertial power towards Zum Colony. Once in range you set up in clear sight of the 3rd dorsal solar panal, where the laser comm gear has been set up according to your mother.

Since you have some free time you invite Ramba Ral aboard to explain to him what's been going on.

"The long and the short of it is this. This tea-cup is the actual last cup used by Zeon Zum Deikum before he died. It shows clear proof that it was Gihren Zabi directly who delivered a fatal poison to Deikum just before he took the stage."

"I FUCKING WELL KNEW IT!" Ramba Ral bellows. You recoil, taken aback by this uncharacteristic outburst from him.

"...uh there's more. The doctor who attended Deikum was Dr Ormar. My mother is of the opinion that Gihren's making a power play for the principality."

After Ramba Ral calms down you both agree to wait for your parent's signal, but to go on high alert just in case. You order all of the Mobile Suits to be prepped for emergency launch and you move yourself and the rest of the team to pilots lounge next to the hanger.

Several hours later at roughly 11:30 Zeon Colony time Anita calls you through the intercom that they're getting a signal. You have her patch it through to you.
    It's a worded message.

"Found Ormar. Talked after persuasion. Was silenced, we escaped with some difficulty. Will make our own arrangements back to Side 6, do not worry. Degwin in Von Braun city on the moon.
