    152 KB CON QUEST 3.5: THE RETURN-EN-ING Wormwood !!kJ4m1ekiW+4 01/07/11(Fri)17:44 No.13433572
Looking away from the picture of your Grandfather you had acquired through means beyond you, you go back to the scribbling of the 3-limbed Golem hunched over a mahogany desk.

    Dearest Father,

I hope this letter finds you in good spirits. I have not heard any news of what happened at the Academy or from New-London, and I thought it would be most prudent for me to send you a sign that I still live yet. I realize it is futile for me to communicate via posted mail, for I do not feel you should see me at this time, and I am sure you have been searching high and low for me. Regardless, you are my father, and you deserve to hear from me.

At the moment, I am well. My creation for my final has been working most wonderfully, and I have been honing my craft through hard work and practice, and such ventures have been lucrative indeed. I am comfortable for now, and such work is time consuming, though I fear truly restful sleep for the nightmares it brings.

I know one day, one of us will seek the other out, and we shall have to have a long talk about what I have seen. I await the day with solemn heart and mind, but in the meantime I wish you well in your current endeavors.

    Your son,
    Henry Spigglesworth

Finishing a heart-felt letter that you dictated to your favorite manservant, Cassius, you fold it, stuff it rudely into thick envelope, and give it to one of the small bird-like Cons you've taken to building in your spare-time. It's been a while since you've came to this city. Two Full Months. To think, that before now, you'd been a frightened student led around by the hand by your Fathers Con-Man. Now you are the master of your domain, and a rising force in the City of Yorkshire.

Your bank is comfortably full of Queens, your lair suitably furnished, your Con-Men of excellent make. You've decided, that this is the day you begin rescue of Jezebel, the Con-Woman who captured your heart with her beauteous ankles so long ago. Trapped beneath the School you ran away from, in a hidden workshop bought by your father, you've thought about how to get her back for quite some time now.

How will you do it, Henry? How will you rescue Jezebel?

    >Osmeony

You ponder if making the heathen pottery of the Northern Savages would be worth it. Quickly dismissing such a foolish notion, you begin planning a caravan back to that Wretched School. But first, who will come with you?

You have Cassius, the loyal Ore-Finding and Processing Con who is an utmost Gentleman. The unnamed Butler-Con who, though nameless, is incredibly helpful. Brick Mcshithouse is certainly large and powerful, but not anywhere near what your Guardian was. Lastly, you have your immense collection of animal-imitating Con-Creatures. Small, dull, but in large numbers.

You also have a fair bit of coin. Think Henry, think! You have the room to house Jezebel until you perform the procedure to separate her from that vile Creature. You have the Con-Men to infiltrate the School from that hidden entrance in the mountains. You have the sheer cajones to give whatfor to any darky who would stand in your way.

What are you forgetting? What else do you need to bring?

There goes my pre-statted encounter with the Endless Bosom-Queens of the Amazon, Rulers of Fire and Blood. That was supposed to last for 3 Threads, damn you.

Your journey to the hidden tunnel in the mountains goes quickly and effortlessly, but somewhere in the back of your mind, you think, "If you had been dumb enough to take that side-road, you could have had bosoms. ENDLESS bosoms." Thoughts of Ankles chase such unseemly mind-drippings away.

The Not-so-Hidden doorway is opened after some frustration on the part of your loyal servant, Brick. You took all but the Butler-Con, leaving him and most of the Animal-Cons to guard your lair.

Do you plan on doing anything outside before you go down the long, lonely tunnel to your old Workshop?

Good idea, man who forgets you don't put a space between + and d10.

Having Cassius begun digging a hole outside the city as you walk with Brick, no, scratch that, sit on the chair-like portrusion you installed on his back because Queen this tunnel is long.

Surprisingly, nothing happens in the hours it takes to go down the tunnel, and as you reach the massive door that marks the entrance to your workshop, the entrance to Jezebels room...you think back on things as Brick struggles and strains his grotesque, iron-plated muscles against the Wormwood-Sized door.

The door creaks, groans, and imitates other vagaries of Human Pain responses before ripping off it's hinges. A bright light bursts from the room beforehand, revealing...

The room exactly as you left it, but coated with dust. Jezebel is exactly where you left her, chest still rising up and down in her bizzare imitation of respiratory functions. Still attached to that rotting corpse-monster. There is only one difference you see, and it's a scrap of paper left on a bench, the dust around it brushed away.

Jezebel turns her head towards you as you walk by, a weak hand failing to get a grip on your flowing clothes as you examine the note.

"Henry, I've lied to you for so long. Maybe one day you'll forgive me, but the things I've lied about are too much to bear for any man. Let alone you. You aren't a man. And you won't ever be."

It has no signature or recognizable handwriting. How odd...

Turning to Jezebel, you help her sit up, instructing Brick to retrieve some pillows.

"Jezebel, how have you been?" You ask her, looking into that expressionless face. Her mouth opens and closes, but no noise comes out.

She is still attached to the beast by the tentacle on her leg, and as of your examinations (Cursory as they were) She requires it for respiratory functions.

Luckily, you find some viable lungs in a freezer. After 3 hours of work, you manage to jury-rig a temporary breathing device strapped to her chest. Her manufacture, however, is beyond you. Other than the lack of respiratory functions, her state of construction is impeccable. You can make neither heads nor tails of what is expendable or not, so you wisely decide not to mess with it. Falling asleep in Bricks arms, however unwillingly, you dream again, and again, and again.

You are an infant in an unfamiliar home, and you are picked up by a happy mother and father. They stroke your chin and talk to you of your future, before drowning you in the sink. You wake in a bathtub, covered in cold sweat. As you stand to get out, your skin goes numb. Drying yourself off, your notice the skin sloughing off your body in bloody sheets. Your innards reach up to strangle you as the mirror laughs.

Waking up in the Caravan, you find yourself restrained by ropes, Jezebel sleeping beside you. Odd, you think. Con-Men don't sleep. Extending one of your installed finger-blades, you cut yourself out before peeking out a window. Brick is dragging the caravan along, the wheels shattered for a reason you can't fathom. Cassius stands at attention behind the wagon, Saluting as he notices you.

Waving goodbye, temporarily, to Cassius, you look back in at Jezebel. She's a finely made Con-Woman, no doubt at that. Tastefully dressed, of pleasing proportions...and that ankle. It seems so teasingly displayed, bare to the cool mid-noon breeze. You reach out a hand, grabbing it lightly. Lifting it up, you inspect it's beautifully soft surface, inspecting it with both the care of a watch-maker and the lust of a young man.

    "Whhhhht rrrrr yyyyyygh dnnnnng"

You almost fail to not soil your trousers in surprise.

She's raised herself up, ever so slightly, and she's looking right at you. Oh Jezebel, you didn't want her to find out like this! Well, she did lure you into the lair by disguising as a prostitute.

Digging through one of your pockets, you find a stick of charcoal and a piece of parchment.

"Alright, tell me why you have troubles speaking." You ask her, a bit of hesitance creeping it's way into your voice. She takes the stick, and the parchment, before staring at you. She opens her mouth fully, as wide as a human could get it. It seems full of some sort of engorged, pink mass, before her jaw bonelessly unhinges, chin at her chest as the mass unfurls into a thick, snake-like tongue. It writhes like a thing possessed, slick with saliva and as long as your arm. "This is why." She says, suddenly eloquent.

Sometimes, fear is the appropriate response gentlemen. But how does Henry react?

The tongue wraps around your wrist, gripping it more powerfully than you could imagine. Pulling you towards her, she looks into your eyes.

"One at a time, Henry. A woman has to keep ~some~ of her secrets." She pulls you steadily closer, the organ retracting inch by inch. "I can't tell you everything just yet, but...I might answer one or two of them, Poppet. I am Jezebel. That's what you call me, that's what I am. I was made for you John, in every meaning of the word."

Your hand is getting uncomfortably close to her mouth. No matter how hard you pull, it just doesn't stop.

"Think of it Henry, everything over the years, the way your Father treated you..." She pauses, her mouth filled with the vile organ. Her eyes go dead, and she relinquishes her hold. As you fall back on your head, pain surges like a flame into your crushed wrist, and she falls to the floor head-first.

Agony. Utmost agony. Holding your hand up, the bones are jutting out of your wrist, the muscles you altered for your blades spasming, extending and retracting them in the wrong ways, cutting your fingertips to ribbons.

    Godspeed, Anon.

Even as her surprisingly sharp teeth find purchase to puncture the thick fabric, you pull her head away from your thoroughly gnawed shoulder. Her blue blood stains the front of her garment, a faint smell of smoke coming from it. The fabric seems to tear easily, ripping merely from you pulling her off of you. She lies down in the hospital bed beside you, scandalously. Falling asleep, you hear the laboured sounds of her breathing slowing down, the heavy machinery tied to her torso thrumming in time. It's calming, as you run your hand through her hair. You lie back in the pillows of your bed, and think back on things.

What are you going to do now?

Waiting until she stirs into consciousness, about half of a very slow, and boring hour later, she wakes again. Yawning, you hand her a PIECE OF CHARCOAL and a PAPER SHEET and ask her why she keeps biting you.

She draws a crudely done pictorial representation of her, sans machine, hugging and biting what appears to be a child's sweet with your mask on it, Valentinos Day hearts bursting like explosions above them.

You look at the paper, then back at her. She is positively beaming.

Lovely. So that's what she thinks of you.

If so the vanishing tongue could be explained as an organ that the con used to actively control the girl. Without the tongue present the girl would return to her own control or act as some sort of autopilot for the con creature.

Though your neck pains you to turn it, you see the Doctor that Cassius brought back. Odd, you think. He looks just like your Grandfather. So very very much like your Grandfather.

Kicking the side of the door with the lock on it, it opens right up, the sound of old wood splintering filling the air. The door leads to a staircase, going up, and up, and up. Walking up the steps, you wonder where you are. Surely you'd notice these stairs above your house. You must have gone up 10 flights by now, and your home only has 2 floors.Your legs ache, and the figurine in your pocket is stabbing into your leg. It hurts, but you ignore it. Finally, you reach a door of rusted iron, the candles about it melted down to the base.

Opening it, you see your father, working on a corpse on a table. It's a workshop, with a staircase leading up somewhere further. He's covered in Jade Green blood, screaming orders at a massive monster made of wood. This all seems so familiar, as your arm begins to hurt. Looking down, you raise your hand up. It's gone, and an eye stares at you from the stump.

How odd, you think, as you fall back onto the stairs.

You wake up, your Grandfather is bandaging up the stump of your hand. The pain is fading, and he apologizes for poking the wound. Looking around, Jezebel is at the foot of the bed, held back easily by Cassius. Brick is no where to be seen.

Your arms are as useless as they were a few minutes ago.

Your Grandfather opens up her torso, examining the organs inside. He takes tissue samples from here and there, cutting open the skin of her arms and applying electric shocks to see how they move. Various procedures you don't even know the names of, let alone what they're for continue for the next few hours. Jezebel remains awake and conscious through out the procedure, as surprised as you are at her inner contents.

Finally, your Grandfather stitches her up, replacing every piece he had taken out or damaged in his investigation.

He motions for you to come to the other room with him, leaving Jezebel in the operating theater.

"Creature made entirely of Human Flesh. No artificial components in any quantity.

Organs, though altered, are clearly repurposed from other uses. Bladder-Based vascular system replaces heart, if in full repair would be much more efficient. No Respiratory System of any sort, oddly, the creature seems designed to receive oxygen from some unnamed outside source. No Digestive System of any sort. A single large sack has taken it's place. Nothing inside. Musculature arranged in new ways. It would never be able to run, even in full condition. However, there seems to have been something meant to take the place of the tongue. The organ replacing it seems to have disappeared, the wound being cleaner than any I've seen.

Strangely, the creature is one whole piece. The organs were not taken from outside sources or made. I must assume that it is simply a heavily altered human. Must investigate further."

Writing down notes in that little pad of his as he listens to your descriptions of the half-remembrance of the nightmares plaguing your mind, how you've begun seeing things when you're awake, and how you have begun hurting yourself in your sleep alongside the people around you.

His face never changes, his voice betrays no surprise, he simply writes it down, asks a few questions, and listens.

It feels nice, being able to get this off your chest.

But he proposes an experiment, after hearing of the Con-Man with Plentiful Vision. He desires to see how your mind works when you dream, if some malady of the brain is what causes your night terrors.

Do you agree to this experiment?
    >> Anonymous 01/08/11(Sat)22:23 No.13448743

Maybe. ASk what he's doing. And of course, Cassius and Brick would be watching as this happens, in case anything goes wrong.

He assures you he'd merely be comparing how your mind works in relation to a normal mind, a normal mind at rest, and your mind, when awake. No needles or blades or other sharp stabbing implements digging in your skull, simply viewing. And of course he'd allow your Conmen in the room whilst the experiment is in play, as long as they agree not to do anything to foul up the experiment, unless they see you coming to harm.

........very well then. Though I suppose for everyone's safety, we should be restrained while this happens, and maybe remove our finger weapons, so as to avoid cutting our way out of our bonds again.
    >> Wormwood !!kJ4m1ekiW+4 01/08/11(Sat)22:48 No.13448978
Approving of your suggestions, he begins preparations for the experiment, assisting you in removing the finger blades, measuring your mind and asking simple questions as the Con-Visioner viewed your brain, before strapping you down onto a table.

"Alright Henry, we're going to have to put you under. Make you go to sleep, I mean. Gonna have to stab a needle in yer neck and pump some nasty stuff to make you nod off."

Though he repeats himself often, you barely notice the fact that he had already been tapping off the remainder of the fluid from the spent needle as he finished talking. When the hell did he do that, you think, as you slip into unconsciousness.

Intermission time, last one of the day /tg/. Gonna answer your questions and restart tomorrow, cuz I am officially DRAINED of creative juices right now.

Why haven't you, Henry! The opportunity has presented itself often. When I say "What do you do" I do indeed mean "WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT TO DO."

I find myself disappointed at your lack of anklesome harem.

Brittania has absorbed all of Europe, save for pockets of resistance, mostly underground. Literally.

Africa is actually a thriving empire built by, for, and with the people, by which I mean Humans are allowed 30 years of blissful existence until they are ritually harvested for the use of High-Quality Con-Men devoted to the pleasure of the next generation.

South America has become the new Spain, as their government and Full Army immigrated in an attempt to escape the Brittanic war Machine. They are immensely Catholic, and believe Con-Men to be heretical.

The Middle-East is pretty much the same as today, but instead of RPG's and Anti-Tank Mines, they use Suicidal Con-Men against the Brittanic Armies. The full force of Brittania would easily crush any resistance through sheer force of numbers, but they use most of it to keep their own lands in check.

Shit, compared to other places this seems to be the best place to live. What's their stance of immigration?
Speaking of which... why are there immigrants in Brittania? Normally immigrants leave awful places and go to countries with high standards of living. For Brittania they might just as well be free human flesh for creating con-men.

I bet the evening prayers go something like this "Our dear Lord and Saviour, the eternally blessed god-emperor Roosevelt, please don't eat me and my family the coming day. Amen."

Why the hell is he carrying DC anyway? Is he holding all the other political elite in hostage as in daring them to question his rule? "Oh what you say? You think its time for a new leader? ... Oooh, my back is just aching, I bet if I drop this load for a minute I'll feel better... What you say? You were just joking? ... Hahaha, I can take a good joke, my good man." Sir Dubstep II, in order

Spain, being IMMENSELY CATHOLIC, which has altered over the years, has fallen into a rut of ritual self-penitence over the slightest heretical thought. The use of Con-Men is punished by Ritual Torture, which is a daily fact of life. It is heretical. Just like EVERYTHING ELSE. Con-Men are used.

Africa does not allow anyone into it's Border. Ever. Crime of any sort is punished by exile, and with their numbers?

Brittania is practically the maw of the world. Every undesirable a nation has can be thrown to Brittania like a scrap of meat thrown to a Bear, stopping it from mauling you directly.

America is one of the few mobs that do not believe in this practice.

Only Britannia adopted the practice, at first, during the height of it's Empirical Status. Being the first adopter, it was able to expand it's borders like a bloated sack of violence and hatred, gaining massive amounts of power and wealth. The rest of the world adopted it as a stopgap measure.
