This is probably just going to cover the invasion of New Majora; I'll probably end it early and start it again sometime next week; I should be doing a report about breaking aluminum plates using oscillating loads right now.

I think we ought to standardize the Servitors. They'd be easier to control if they were basically the same.

    I Repeat!
We need to load Majora down with a custom war-ecosystem and sling her into that shady outer planets orbit!

No, that'd seem like we were pushing her away.

Better we load up some bubbleheaded asteroid with spy-servitors and send them.

Naah, we need specialization beyond belief to take down gas giants, save majora as a secondary breeding facility, that way if something goes catastrophically wrong on thumb we don't have to start over from the beginning

I dunno. I mean, we have her orbiting our every whim, but would our influence hold if she were further away? That outer planet is pretty chill... he might try and "rehabilitate" her from our "habitual abusive tendencies".

That would be really freaking hard and not worth it.
They'd all have to feed on genetically slimier corpses that died the same way for a shit ton of generations, that would just weaken them because they would lose resistance to ways of death that the things they ate didn't die to cause the microbs would not see it as needed.
    >> Servitormarineinvasionforce 02/12/11(Sat)23:55 No.13882450
Recap: We began as a planet named Thumb, married a big moon named Majora (who also has the face we carved into it ourselves), had some spats involving domestic abuse and planetary bukakke, and had a three-way with a whore comet.

Meanwhile Thumb developed into a death world whose inhabitants made their offspring stronger by eating each other and gaining strength from the cause of death. A hive mind of lava creatures became the dominant life-form, and they reprogrammed the quadrupedal, armor-plated, gaping-maw-in-their-chest-with-claws-and-oh-god-what species to do their bidding.
Majora made flower rats and tried to terraform us. They exterminated themselves in a nuclear war and were colonized by us thereafter; the survivors moved to the innermost planet to found a colony, and nuked Thumb, which only made the inhabitants stronger.
Now the thumbites have sent a specially engineered group of super soldiers to exterminate the New Majorans. You are those soldiers
    >> Servitormarineinvasionforce 02/12/11(Sat)23:59 No.13882504
    >>13882439

You do see something along those lines! You travel along those roads. you encounter some vehicles, which seem more likely to turn around and flee than to fight. You are happy to give chase, as the more you run, the more the microbes in your body will adapt to running, and when you are killed and eaten, the resulting offspring will be better at running.
You are unfortunately unable to catch up to the vehicles. You do see another town in time, though, which meets the same fate as the one before.

Search for bigger roads, they are likely to lead to bigger organism clusters.

    >>13882504
Excellent, let's keep following these roads always selecting the biggest one.
    >> Servitormarineinvasionforce 02/13/11(Sun)00:08 No.13882615
    >>13882516

Yes! The Servitors are familiar with roads; to die alone in a remote location is a waste of life, but to die on a well-traveled path increases your chances of being eaten.
You try for larger roads, but strangely the vehicles are less abundant. You eventually see why; their military has put up a blockade. Heedless of consequences, and knowing that if they are able to hit you with a heavy weapon, no amount of armor could withstand it, you charge. Immune to bullets, they begin to lob grenades at you. The grenades hurt, but your species never did quite grasp survival instinct; the dead would always be eaten by the living, and the living would become stronger for it; the next generation would then be so numerous as to make up for the massive losses.
You charge, heedless of the grievous injury; you will certainly die, but not right now. You plow through their weak blockade and their ranks, and they scatter in fear. Eventually, another lobs a grenade at you, getting it in your mouth. Your brain is destroyed, but the residual metabolism that fuels your species' survival ability keeps you flailing about, dangerous to approach, until you run out of energy and die.
They still have to worry about your brethren, who are keen on securing the corpse and eating you.
    >> Anonymous 02/13/11(Sun)00:08 No.13882619
    Naahh

Follow the best maintained roads, not the biggest.

Big roads could just be cargo routes.

Nice roads lead to rich people. Rich people are usually in charge of things.

"Securing" is the key word here.

Kill the grenadiers and search for heavy weapons to wreck up before eating our fallen comrade.
    >> Anonymous 02/13/11(Sun)00:11 No.13882646
Three of the other thumbites run to the flanks to ensure no vehicles escape and to run through anyone fleeing on foot. Three fight any Majorans that are standing their ground. One secures our former corpse from any majorans trying to explode it to prevent our evolution. The last remaining Thumbite finds some jackoff Majoran and spits on his face FOR GRAND COLONIZATION.

One of our own has already died to one of these weapons, to keep being killed by these things would be a waste of potential diversity.

The ones that lobbed the grenades are the first to fall and are attacked by a center team of two; other servitors move to flank the rest to cut off their escape routes. One soldier sees what's coming, turns tail, and flees like the rat he is. He is caught and eaten. The soldiers in the center try desperately to fight the main attack, but cannot injure them significantly. Some of those in the vehicles try lobbing more grenades; by a stroke of luck and a bit of skill, one servitor lobs it back at them; both are in the blast, but the rat takes the worst of it. Some vehicles try running all-out to retreat; one flanking servitor moves to intercept and is impacted heavily; the vehicle is destroyed, and he is too damaged and must be eaten.
As for the corpse, their first reaction seemed to be preservation. This makes sense; few missions to Thumb made it back to Majora, and likely none of them sent before the nuclear war could return samples for study. Their society is a splinter that escaped either before or very shortly after the nuclear war; your adaptation is probably unknown to them.
You feed, and that evening you release your spores. In the coming years they will grow into full adults and ravage the countryside, resistant to their pitiful weapons and perhaps larger in this lower gravity.
    >> Servitormarineinvasionforce 02/13/11(Sun)00:26 No.13882836
That night, you find other settlements. They are sadly abandoned. You knew you let no military escape; clearly some civilians in those cities were left behind. You lament that you could not smell or hear them; perhaps they would not have gotten away. It matters not; reinforcements will come in a few weeks and conquer this world. Tomorrow, if the military has learned anything from that encounter, they will meet an army and probably die to be dissected and studied, left uneaten. Something so unnatural can only be described as an abomination.

Start digging elaborate tunnels, force the enemy to approach in small numbers underground
    >> Anonymous 02/13/11(Sun)00:31 No.13882909
Overnight, etrentch one of the settlements - knocking over buildings and fortifying the position to make it clear that the settlement is being used as a last stand by Thumbites until reinforcements.

Then have all thumbites run off to a good nearby hiding spot and wait to ambush the army from the flank and rear. Take as many of them out as possible.
    >> Anonymous 02/13/11(Sun)00:33 No.13882940
    Entrenchment is key.

Find a source of thubmite-usable resources (Perhaps a chemical plant or a dumping ground?) and fortify the fuck out of it. Dig greedily, dig deep. Put down spores, and let them smash themselves apart on your defenses.

Oh, and prepare to be nuked.

A servitor suggests going underground. This planet is covered in soft soil and softer clay, not like the fungus-infested rock of the homeworld; with your diamond-like armor it would be a simple matter to burrow through, even if your bodies were not designed for it.
By morning you've together dug a few miles of tunnels in the space of a few thousand square meters. Small, but it will do. Of course, they would have the advantage of being able to hear you coming in these dark passageways, whereas you can only see, but that should not matter in a one-on-one battle.
Come morning, you can see them coming. They have brought air vehicles as well. They come in on land, see your burrows, and lob explosives on the entrances, collapsing them. The rats! Cowards! They move in for a closer look, but you will show them.
You are Spacers. You don't need to breathe. And you can dig your way out, all 8 of you.

Wait until the majority are overhead before burrowing out into their midst.

Leave one behind to attempt to take the bodies and eat them after death while the army is still reeling.
    >> Anonymous 02/13/11(Sun)00:40 No.13883044
Use Mother Thumb's Spit of Colonization ability to create acid pool traps. Burrow underneath their land vehicles and drag them down with you, using the vehicle itself as cover as you retreat with it.

Stay underground. Wait for vehicles to land.

When they do, erupt from underneath them and tear them apart.

Defense is not part of the Servitor mindset, having been raised on a world where individual survival isn't terribly important; they don't value their own lives. They understand tactics to a degree, and refer to such things as "creative attacks," simply increasing one's ability to kill things by retreating. Simply digging tunnels was a stroke of genius; going all the way to a settlement (they are still few and far between in this part of the planet) and constructing fortifications would have been outside their scope of knowledge.

    >>13883075
    Well that's stupid.

Clearly we have to evolve tactics and strategy eventually.

It's just that they won't be based on survival, just the accomplishment of goals.

As the rats try to dig you up (probably to "study" you, the disgusting perverts), you remain still, trying to keep them from suspecting. Hazmat teams begin to filter out from their vehicles, ready to retrieve the specimens. When you are partially excavated, you burst out!
The digging crews are the first to die. Their bodies are thrown against the hazmat teams, and you run towards the dangerous vehicles to disable them first. You plow one over; it is incapacitated. You then hide behind it to block enemy fire; a rocket strikes against it and explodes, destroying the rocket but leaving you reasonably unharmed. You charge the person who shot it, the one carrying the large, unfamiliar weapon. Other servitors take more men, some wounded, some not. They then try to flee, with some success. Most escape, but a few are killed and eaten. Soon after, a bomber flies overhead and blows the entire area to smithereens.
One solitary servitor, still buried, unearths herself and begins feasting on any entrails she finds. She releases a cloud of spores. She knows it will not survive, but knows her race's victory is guaranteed. She chooses to hide and await reinforcements.

All right, I'm ending it here. Later this week we'll continue the invasion.

    Not bad.

Think you can tell us what day/time it will likely be?

Also, as a suggestion, beyond this first invasion, it should probably play out more like a strategy game. It's assumed that stuff like this is taking place on the ground, but for us playing, it will just involve the allocation of resources and what strategies we use.

They do have strategies and tactics, it's just that they're far more geared toward offense than defense. Also, the Spacers had to have a bit of their brainpower reduced somewhat to survive in space without needing to breathe.

It could be at literally any time of day except the mornings. Probably it won't be tomorrow, I've got a shitload of stuff to do. Probably not monday afternoon, I have a killer chinese test coming up. Earliest possible is tuesday evening; I might even take until next weekend if things go poorly.

As for the strategy stuff, I'll think about it. I honestly started this thing as a joke because someone else was doing a quest and some anons thought the player character was supposed to be a planet; they rolled with it and I decided it might be fun to give them what they want.

No idea what happened with the other quest.
