The Kel-Morian Combine's remaining government has not yet responded to the Shalmaneser's offer of debriefing. The communications bands are still alight with thanks and praise that a Confederate battlecruiser has come to protect the world.

Internbrate has a really, really bad feeling about this.

Meanwhile, Warbrate reports that nearly all of the (admittedly sparse) population of the Tyrador system are infested. Labbrate has gotten the transmitter up and running, allowing us to broadcast whatever we like to Terran space. Gorn is cursing that we have denied it the pleasure of slaughtering those people. Labbrate estimates six hours to finish reprogramming the battlecruiser in orbit for our use.

Accountantbrate suggests that we not waste our resources occupying these dead worlds.

I share Internbrate's bad feeling about what's going on with Moria.

I also agree with Accountbrate, let's work on getting what we still have lingering in that system grouped up and back to Zerg space.

Is Kerrigan's overlord still just kind of hovering there near Xenta (or wherever it was)? I don't guess we've gotten any updates from her?

VoidGate has recently discussed whether humanity can be trusted to not turn on it. It maintains that whether humanity has the capacity to change or not, the fact remains that it is dangerous NOW, and must be terminated NOW. We still have four carriers hovering over what appears to be a burgeoning colony. It has already built a reasonable defensive fleet of new ships, and gathered most of the surface resources of the planet.

(Well, then, I'll make the decision for you...)

One of our wraiths bursts into space above Moria and immediately broadcasts on a public channel, "Shalmaneser, this is Confederate Border Patrol Fighter 227. In accordance with Confederate orders concerning ships leaving the Goryu system, you are ordered into immediate quarantine. Repeat, close down your launch bays and shut off your engines. Over."

There is a brief moment of silence before absolute panic erupts. Ships jump out of the system left and right. Confused, angry, and disbelieving messages come in on every frequency. The Morian defensive fleet, consisting of well more than enough wraiths to take on the ship, takes up position around our fighter, demanding our credentials and Shalmaneser's flight logs.

    <><><><>

Artisanlord is overjoyed with our decision, and moves out as soon as it finishes styling the very well-oiled mustache it has placed on Kerrigan's overlord. The resulting spectacle is both ridiculous and...oddly stylish.

Artisanlord begins setting up its first broadcast immediately.

Whatever happened to that one scientist that we plucked from Tyrador when Gorn was steamrolling that one Terran superweapon? I hope we at least got the chance to infest his brain.

    >Nargil & the Dark Templar

I'd be a bit careful on this. As mentioned earlier, Kerrigan may still have a lot of plans for the renegade temps. I would propose gently psionically nudging her overlord proxy (who is now very stylish)... something like leaving the psionic equivalent of an answering machine message asking if she wants us to put forth some effort on hunting down the Dark Templar.

    >Tyrador

Take the BC and leave. Perhaps leave some scouts in the system to observe if anything interesting occurs in that front.

    >VoidGate

I propose informing VoidGate that the bulk of the Terran battlefleet has been destroyed. If it will have any chance to nab valuable worlds, this would be it.

Artisanlord's face appears, with a small ZergTV logo in the corner. It makes various squealing and groaning noises, as overlords do. We are aware that it is offering grandiose salutations to its audience, but to the Terrans, it must sound horrifying.

After a few minutes of groaning and squealing, the camera cuts to the devastation of the once-proud Core World, its skies ashen as debris sinks slowly from orbit. The scientist turns out to have been more of an engineer, responsible for designing support systems. What he knows of the project is that it was some new kind of weapon against the Zerg. The plan was to use it to brainwash Zerg units to follow Terran commands. He isn't entirely sure of the details. It was, as he would put it, "all pretty hush hush."

    Okay, how about this.

We have the Wraith pilot say "Hold one, conferring with Command." We have him send an encrypted bunch of gobblyedgook, as if he's conferring with a commanding officer.

Then we try again, but with a better bluff roll.

It's either that, or we send in all of our Terran battlecruisers to 'enforce the quarantine'.

We need to bluff because we're still buying time for our battlecruisers and other Zerg aerospace assets to get ready to warp to Moria.

Also, if you didn't notice, this is the capital of the Kel-Morian Dominion, a fucking CORE WORLD. Yes, it doesn't have any battlecruisers right now, but it has a fuckton of Wraiths, and likely a Defense Grid that could fend off our forces until reinforcements arrive.
And we can't just nuke them, because we're running low on nukes.

The last Zerg Quest, we assessed Tarsonis' defense grid and asked our 'brates to do a rough estimate on what would happen if we attacked Tarsonis with all of our current standing forces.

Basically, we would end up crippling Tarsonis, but not necessarily winning. We've taken away Kingston's ability to launch any sort of meaningful attack on us, but the static defenses for the prime targets are still very deadly and intact.

In retrospect, it was probably a good idea that we inadvertently drew the main Terran battlefleet to the very lightly-defended Tyrador system to fight it out, otherwise we might have been caught between a hammer and an anvil.

Unfortunately for you, I've had the dubious honor of having made the acquaintances of dozens of current and former Delta Squadron boys, some of whom have become my closest advisers. I think the KMC defense fleet is just wraiths and some frigates. There's no way the confederacy would let them keep capital ships after the guild wars, or even much of a military for that matter. Bigger problem would be what Kingston sends as reinforcement, hence the comm jamming.

Well, I would imagine that even if the KMC wasn't allowed as many capital ships, that they would have invested that money in static defenses, such as orbital defense platforms and planetary defense batteries. Without nukes to take out hardened defenses like that, we can't take the system even if we destroy their fighter cover.

Yes, we need comm jamming though. I won't argue there.
