Week 4 of the campaign veered off into some pretty weird territory. Picture very related.

    I blame the Eldar.

This week, the Rogue Trader and Explorator got into Quint’s private stock of moonshine/paint stripper. Again. So Cornelius Gilliam and 62-SXE are once more nowhere to be found. Quint doesn’t respond to questions about it as he’s repainting our shuttle (the Jailbait) gold again. “I keep tellin’ ‘em. And every time it burns off on atmospheric entry.”

Acting Captain Vorgen Thayle is just realizing that he’s gotten a Groxwhip at the same time he took Trade (Archeologist) completely coincidentally (However, the GM has threatened to kill him if he starts wearing a fedora) when Uncle Gilliam shows up.

“Oh hey, real boss,” Vorgen salutes in the docking bay.

“I’ve been reviewing the family archives,” the Rogue Trader says. “There was a time when the Expanse was more colonized than it is now. We actually owned a valuable world that had plenty of mining opportunity and valuable resources. Over time, we, uh, forgot about the place. Valcente’s Salvation lies in the Winterscale System. It was colonized by Valcente Gilliam some 6 thousand years ago. It’s currently an “unclassified” world.” He hands Vorgen a bunch of maps and star charts. “Go get it back.”

“Oh,” real boss adds. “Since reports have been coming to me saying a lot of you are “Squishy,” your militant has asked to secure more muscle. Looks like nepotism has worked in his favor. The new hire is Astra Xanitov, Blade’s sister, who is also an arch-militant and a PC. She’s got a facial scar and a shock-white hair tied in a ponytail.

Quint eyes her up and goes back to spraying the Jailbait. “Bad luck to have a woman on board.”

“Don’t we have plenty on the lower-” Vorgen starts.

“Ain’t the same,” the Void Master says without looking back. “Patches here is bad news.”

A day later, Quint comes down with some kind of Space Pox. He’s laid up in the medical bay and will be there for about a month. However, Uncle Gilliam offers to hire a pilot for us. The crew decides to meet with this potential candidate for a job interview.

His name is Banda. He looks about 26 and is incredibly enthusiastic. He was a pilot in Calixis for a whole two years. Vorgen asks him a bunch of standard questions. Where he sees himself in five years, what can he bring to the ship, if he were a tree what would he be, that sort of stuff. Banda responds nervously that he’s piloted everything from shuttles to fighters to raider class ships. Our sword class would be the biggest thing he’s flown yet.

The interview goes well and its decided that if real boss is footing the bill, this guy’s hired. We resupply and leave port with no further issues.
