!!O+eQDn0BBx8 03/25/11(Fri)23:42 No.14368371Then the sky falls in. Your screaming abominations descend upon the fight, buffeting the paladin away and drawing a cry of horror and dismay from both twins as they try to unite and flee. Your positioning was too perfect for that, however, and the three of them are surrounded. With a cry, you launch the twisted forms at the trio, and they promptly forget their feud as they turn to fight the new threat. Slashing, stabbing, the twins moving as one and the paladin burning with holy light, they drop the horrors once after another until none remain. The only sound remaining their ragged breathing, the three size each other up from a dozen feet away. Liss supports her brother as he occasionally coughs up blood from cracked ribs and Lady Vandire leans heavily on her sword, her left arm hanging broken and useless.
Eventually, Lady Vandire speaks, her normally rich voice hoarse from screaming battle cries, “Who are you, that would attack myself and my companions? What cause have you to champion against us?”
“We kno--”, Lann begins, but stops short with a cough. Liss hisses something into his ear and then looks back to the paladin before speaking herself, “We were just defending ourselves from you and your kin, come to kill us and steal away our things.” At this Lady Vandire sighs and removes her helmet with her good hand before dropping it and once more leaning on her sword. “I come not to slay you child, just to hear of your finds and, perhaps, offer you a way from this place. If you would listen then let us speak at a safer place. If not, come, and we shall see who will be victorious this day.”
Suspiciously eyeing her, the twins hold a whispered conference for several minutes before responding; “We’ll listen to you, but try anything and you’re dead. We know a safe spot not far from here. Stay back twenty feet and we’ll lead you there...”
Floating above the scene, you smile. The seeds of something greater are sown, or so you hope. |
