    12 KB Army List Anonymous 04/13/11(Wed)22:37 No.14586323
Can you tell me if this army list is good?

    HQ:
    King
    Queen

    Elites:
    2 Knights
    2 Bishops

    Troops:
    8 Pawns

    Heavy Support:
    2 Rooks

ditch the king, it's not worth the points. It's worse than just leaving the points empty... Any good player will try to kill it and just watch your army flee off the board

The queen is totally overpowered as an HQ, I mean, unrestricted movement? Cheesy.
The elites look good I guess, I just never got the hang of using knights.
Troops, don't expect these guys to do much, bu the diagonal attack is kind of cool.
Rooks as heavies? I guess, but they're not as useful as bishops.

I'm still waiting for the codex update, I swear it's been like a couple hundred years since they updated the army.

Do rookspam OP. Drop the Queen. She's too high-priority. Sure, she's a fearsome beast, but too easy to lucky-shot if you're not being careful not to rush her at your opponent's non-Pawns.

Drop the Queen, a Knight and Bishop, and all but 4 Pawns for another FIVE Rooks.

That is SEVEN rooks on your side of the table. FUCKING SEVEN.

King is a pretty crap choice for a bait if you're not prepared to castle. Just sayin'. You could get by with fewer pawns, but I'd at least keep three if you're going kingside (four if you want the option of queenside).

How about this? Like the paint job?

I know its a noob army, but there really is strategy involved. Yeah, I know the movement is crappy both in how far you can go and how you're limited to 50% of the board, but if you don't have that much money, this is definitely the way to go. Anyone can just pick up this army and away you go.

He has enough specials that he can rely on playing obliteration instead of taking and holding points. His remaining pawns can just cap easy target objectives.
Actually...OP has way too many specials. Playing this sort of balanced list is so boring OP. Everyone does it because they can't comprehend higher strategy using variant lists. Hell, just because the Grandmasters do it, doesn't mean you should, OP.

And don't even get me started on that fucking Queen. Most OP piece of shit on the board. I used to kick ass with my Bishops, now I just spend the entire game getting chased around by them because "FUCK YOU I CAN MOVE HORIZONTALLY".

    >>14586561
Seriously this. Pawns hit just as hard as a queen without the mobility, and as long as there are no objectives other than "Kill the HQ" the mobility doesn't really provide you that much of an advantage when you're that heinously outnumbered.

Although, Pawn-spam can do alright in most objective games ANYWAYS as well since you'll be taking up half the damn board with your initial deployment.

Honestly, with my pawn-heavy list I have only lost like one or two of my fifty odd games with them. (I usually take one knight, sometimes I run him as my HQ but I'm usually pretty gutsy with him so I usually stick with the cheaper king piece) Queen/Rook/Bishop-heavy armies all get mauled to hell and back. Anyone who tells you the are able to win with those kinds of armies is playing in a weak fucking meta with nothing but trash players.

Going up against another identical pawn army just ends up being a case of whoever goes first wins.
The only opponent that's ever given me a run for my money without relying on first turn with the same list was a combined arms knight+pawn list where he was able to open up holes with his pawns so he could safely position his knights to then jump all the way into my back lines. It was a tough game.

Actually, I hear that the queen-knight combos work really well if you play it right. All you have to do is use the knights to play hit-and-run, running your opponent all over the board, and have the queen finish off the stragglers. Still really difficult for beginners to learn, though.

No, Whoever told you that is retarded. Queens are NOT WORTH THEIR POINTS. Knights require more finesse than anything else in the game to use right and are usually the biggest game changers.

Yeah, sure, your "Queen can pick off the stragglers" but there's kind of the issue of there being what, 9 pawns for every queen? And 9 pawns are able to cover themselves pretty well. Enough of them and they can pretty consistently cover themselves.

To break a proper pawn swarm (anyone with brains enough to use it better than a retard) you HAVE to sacrifice SOMETHING. And in a Knight+Queen list you just DON'T have the pieces to sacrifice. Unless you're planning on using your queens as sacrifices so you can break their lines with your knights, but if you're doing that you'd be better off taking any other piece, particularly pawns. Or, like you're suggesting, send your knights in to their deaths so the queens can mop up the things that murder the queen the moment she kills a single one.

    Jesus, you fucks are retarded.
