I have a problem /tg/. I DM for two groups, one is a Dark Heresy group that is excellent in every sense of the word. The other I got sort of roped into, and that one, let’s say it leaves much to be desired. It’s a group of four and two of them have significant furfag tendencies, not just “I like bugs bunny” stuff the vaguely anti-human Avatar loving shit. Another is a fairly decent weeaboo that takes my ribbing of her preferred entertainment in stride and makes fun of my own bullshit in a good hearted manner, so I have no problem her. The last is a granola cruncher and fits in with the furfags strangely anti-industrial attitudes in that those three hate heavy industry, and I’m and petroleum geologist. They(the furs) complained that I didn’t let them us some of the ridiculously unbalanced characters(read: fursona mary sues) they made up in the last campaign. The weeaboo chick asked for a scifi campaign with mecha and I suggested Rogue Trader, I was planning to have them steal a Tau battlesuit for a Mechanicus sect to study and “purify” the technology for human use. Also the gothic aesthetic would cheese her off slightly but the tau shit would make up for it. But the others were dead set against it due to the human supremacist characters and heavily mechanized, authoritarian setting. The furfags also asked for some kind of “free love” society and genetic recombination technology to be present in any homebrew I created, cue an exchange of worried glances with the weeaboo chick. Basically they argued for a campaign setting with no speciesism, as if a campaign setting can’t have moral standards that disagree with those of the players themselves or the PCs to drive the conflict and motivate heroic actions.

So here is my basic homebrew setting that will allow me to both poke fun at the weeaboo chick in friendly manner while still delivering what she wanted and put the kibosh on the furfags’ fetish shit. A galactic society in a classic space opera setting with lots of near human beings and furries. But none of them are aliens, they are the remnants of “toys” left behind after the collapse of a brutal human space empire of at least intergalactic proportions. They live in a fairly egalitarian society with access to early Star Trek level tech. The reason they are nice and able to live in such a society is because they were designed as trinkets, sex slaves, and passive chattel by humanity(throwing that fetish right back in their faces). Basically they are the left leaning furfags’ wet dream. And they are in serious trouble.

A post-human super soldier has awakened within the lower lithosphere of an inhabited planet, tunneled his way out, began waging a campaign of terror across the planet, and has absolutely stomped everything in his path. The local furs and multihued humanoids suck at war, because they have so little experience at it. And they are getting crushed by automated tanks, aircraft, and four-legged turreted infantry drones that are being manufactured by the human super soldier. These are merely shoddy imitations of human military hardware but because he is not retarded his tactics and application of the limited technology available to him are still absolutely devastating to a race that is dumb enough to think MBT sized walkers are a good idea. He is still wounded in some manner from the human civil war and is trying to find ancient human medical equipment to repair his higher bodily functions. If he succeeds he will be able to create machines that can in turn manufacture ancient humanity’s vastly superior war machines and space craft. At which point is robotic slaves will smarm over the entire galaxy and crush all opposition within a few decades.

And here is the hook and injoke for the weeaboo, the human is for all intents and purposes MD Geist. The “hero” of a cartoon movie we had watched and made fun of together MST3k style about a year ago. Now the problem, should I do it or is this too dickish? I am giving them all the setting they wanted but also I’m kinda giving them the finger at the same time.

    >>15301962
Eh, do it. It could be good. You're not really giving them the finger, you're giving them what they want in a believable way. And they'll probably enjoy being able to fight a human.

You should also probably make some significant faction of the fur race want to join the human and serve him again.

Well, if it was me I would give them the literal finger and walk out, then find a way to get the weeaboo chick into the DH game.

So no, what you're doing is about as far from dickish as you can be without just bending over and taking it from those other players (who frankly sound like vile little shits and I don't know why you're fraternising with them at all).

I would tone it back a little from "all the furries suck at war" to "the technology he's using is so overpowering they stand little chance against it." The furfag players and hippie dude will get to square off against the evil forces of industrialization for their way of life, which is probably the exact campaign they wanted.

But ultimately if you really don't like these players or the kind of campaign they'd like, or you think no matter what you do you won't enjoy it unless you're making them miserable, I'd say the better option is to just talk to them and say that you're not comfortable with GMing the kind of campaign they want.

You could even make it so that all the war-related tech has been phased out and banned, sort of like what people keep trying to do with nuclear weapons in real life, coupled with the gun control you get in nanny states like Britain.

Brilliant. Then the PCs will have to work around or negotiate their own government to even have a chance against the human. Especially since furries that are okay with the tech are more likely to join the enemy, so the PCs will be left contending with fundamentalists, and high-minded idealists who feel that if they stoop to the enemy's level to win, they have already lost.

Well that is good point, I mean it less that the furries can't fight and more that they fight like fictional characters do, and most fictional characters are militarily retarded in scifi. Which means compared to fictional races they fight well, but compared real life humans or post-humans they are terrible. Also it's kind of an excuse for them to overlook the obvious disadvantages of legged combat vehicles. They inherited their technology from human relics so they apply it in ways that seem inefficient to humans that actually understand it.

One possible end of the campaign I have been thinking of is that they find a human weapons cache instead of medical cache and beat the fully healed BBEG as he is about to launch his first invasion wave. And he dies laughing at them. He is what controls the killbots, without a human to command them they will simply consume all usable mass, stripping entire planets of their lithospheres, constantly adapting to any enemies they encounter according to their automated protocols, and destroying all life in the universe until nothing is left.

    1. Human, weird enough in this setting, wearing scrounged up body armor or ramskacle power armor that he has made by stealing an improving local tech.

    2. Human designed power armor, not to bulky since he is acting as a commander of his robot minions.

    3. Bulky frontline battle armor when he needs to be shown stomping an army.

    4. His godlike repaired self. Though I was not originally going to make him HUGE, just weird looking or maybe very sleek and armed with a big fuckin gun.

Well I am trying to be realistic in the sense that he takes immense amounts of energy to build even a basic top of the line human starship. Building 20 of them basically denudes an entire planet's lithosphere of easily reachable iron, after that you would have to mine the mantel which is a more expensive and time consuming process. And even building armies using defunct and second rate technology require you to pave over state sized areas with photoelectric cells, make thousands of fission power plants, or huge geothermal convection towers that circulate liquid halite to push turbines. I want to play of the industrial aspect of his warmachine, and how it takes 50 non-combat robots to support 1 combat drone. Basically a much more reserved Supreme Commander.

Do yourself a favor and look up Metal fatigue. I think there's an LP of it going on.

They're able to make war machines from energy, but its not where near as blatantly OP supcom/ta. Notable because they can - slowly - use solar power, as well as magma to fuel their war machine.

More of a total industry vibe, which is what I think you're shooting for. This guy basically has to bootstrap his technology base from scratch, and that might mean progressing up some technology levels before he actually has the raw -tools- and manipulation power to break out his high-tech toys.

Plus, do you really want to throw away the chance for your players to have a running gunfight through a working assembly line factory, in a frantic effort to *shut* *it* *down* even as terminators and scoutbots are rolling out of the production wings?

So a human capital ship is like a world unto itself, requiring metric shittons of metal. And by easily mined iron I don't mean all iron in the crust just the stuff in hematite deposits like BIFs or oolitic ores.

Yeah, its not an expansion, its actually a sequel.
But its actually pretty good, and fun, and has a single player campaign, and is reasonably priced.

    Lets put it this way.
Its better than duke nukem forever, bulletstorm, or even some other 'new' shooters. Dev team actually went back and fixed their shit, and put a reasonable price tag on it.

I would also like to emphasize the 'lack of fighters'. This makes ship-to-ship boarding actions a lot more common, and that makes the game a LOT more fun.

Yes in a space opera that avoids space fighter bullshit the corvette is your smallest fast attack craft worth it's salt. But I think he is just scaling things up to that they fit a more realistic depiction of how reaction engines work. And the thing analogous to a corvette is like a km long or something.

    Yeah, you do.

Like so many, you're playing with a group of people who don't appear to want the same thing you do.
Instead of trying to find a way to make your campaign fit people you don't appear to like and who don't appear to share your interests/desires, why don't you just enjoy the group you have (the DH group) or create a new one with the person you actually seem to get along with?

I'm sorry if I'm missing something, but sounds like OP is pouting because he's in a group of people that don't share his desires for a dark/gritty shit.

    > The reason they are nice and able to live in such a society is because they were designed as trinkets, sex slaves, and passive chattel by humanity(throwing that fetish right back in their faces). Basically they are the left leaning furfags’ wet dream. And they are in serious trouble.

Listen, I fucking hate furries, but everything in the above statement is fail.
If you don't like someone, don't fucking attempt to passive-aggresively attack their fetishes/viewpoints like a massive-scale douche.
Your furry 'friends' sound pretty retarded, but you sticking with the group and trying to throw their interests back in their faces doesn't make you any better than them - it just makes you an asshole, and really leads one to wonder why you bother interacting with them in the first place.

The problem I had that I was asking for help on was that I was not sure I could pull it off. Now with other people helping me to refine the idea some I am confident that they will enjoy it, just not in the way I will. After this game is done I'll do as other people have already suggested and try to get the two players that are not fetishist idiots into something better that fits their tastes.

His first and biggest motivation and interest is simply war. He is a super soldier, bred to it, born to it, made exclusively for it; waging war is in his nature.

His ultimate goal is going to be ambiguous to the players. Does he want to rule the humanoids our just use and then discard them? I was leaning to him exterminating them since as a soldier he has little interest in pleasure seeking or company other than as targets of abuse for his own sick amusement. But after the suggestions of other people I'd say he might keep them alive in case he can't find other survivors or samples of pure human remains. If there are no other humans left he might try to remove remnants of the ancient human genome from the slave races to reconstitute humanity then make those baseline humans into post-humans like himself.

As a living weapon I see him interesting more in war than ruling. For that reason he may want other humans to take the responsibility of ruling and managing their infrastructure while he gets to go crusading through the universe to reconquer it. Basically he thinks he can't take the entire universe alone and needs comrades to fight beside. After everything is retaken eons in the future he'll go back to fighting inter-human wars again.

Okay, I read through the thread a bit more carefully, and frankly this sounds retarded.

Your answer to half the party building 'fursona mary sues' is to make what is effectively a HFY mary sue GM PC to oppose them, who single-handedly builds an entire fucking race of machines to serve him, and who they can't really even defeat in the end due to GM dickery, all within a setting basically custom-built to annoy and/or insult the very people you're supposed to be entertaining/enjoying time with....

... But, beyond how incredibly hypocritical you're being in some areas, what really gets me is how derogatorily you seem to view your 'friends'' interests. Even the weeaboo, who you seem to like to some degree, has to deal with you 'ribbing' of their interests in stride; while the others are essentially just bat-shit insane throw-aways, only useful to you in serving as PCs for your grand opus of space-faggotry.

I just have to wonder whether you aren't being as much of an asshole as they are, just in a more passive-aggressive wimp manner.... I mean, really, do you think if you said to them 'Hey guys, wanna play a game where I effectively make fun of you under my breath like a pussy, and in which you're going to lose eventually because 'I said so', before I ditch you completely because I don't like you as people?', that they would jump up and down with excitement?

Protip: Instead of wasting everyone's time being a passive-aggressive punter, why don't you just focus on making the DH game more badass, or start a second session of the DH game to intro the weeaboo chick, or SOMETHING that doesn't involve wasting an entire campaign's worth of time being an ass.

You're thinking too big, he's a post-human super soldier from an era when then could create sentient, sapient beings as toys. He doesn't have a motivation beyond what was programmed into him when he was decanted from the growth vat. At best his personality will consist of very hazy false memories designed to create a stable personality that is loyal to the government and that's just as a backup to the programming he received to make sure that no matter how intelligent or clever he is he still views his orders as his highest priority. Waking up from stasis after the destruction of all mankind means that he sees himself as the highest ranking authority and, in the absence of him finding a superior, the defacto head of government, military and state. As the "toys" never had any rights to begin with he interprets their government as invalid and their agression against him as insurrection. But no matter how he acts, be it as a smug asshole or a wisecracking murderer, he isn't a villain. Hell, he isn't even human. He's just a toy like everyone else.

I figure he destroys a few without hesitation then offers surrender to to others. For his needs the humanoids are mostly side business are machines do his manufacturing and fighting.

Basically there will be 4 parts to the story that line up with the armor styles I asked for.

    1. He escapes and begins rampaging, smashing task forces sent to stop him with stolen and refurbished equipment. The players will see this mostly as back story but will play the tail end of it as the threat he represents becomes apparent.

    2. He builds his army and forces the PCs and locals on the defensive. Colaborators begin to appear looking for mercy or because they have inbred predisposition to serve humans. PCs try to stop him and fail.

    3. He is ascendant and rules the planet. The PCs desperately try to find a way to beat him. He searches for and finds a way to heal is old war wounds. PCs are reduced to rebels hiding underfoot.

    4. He heals himself regaining the full measure of his technologic power. He begins building archeotech human war machines that are all but invincible. Ultimately the PCs beat him. And maybe his Berserker probe like ships fuck off to devour the universe, BAD END. Or not, I haven't decided that part yet.

To not come across as a douche let you players have a chance to kill him during any of the phases you have in mind. Now don't make it easy on them, but with the right combination of balls, luck and firepower they can kill him. Same with the Von Neumann machine warbots in phase 4; there are ways to stop them, but the players probably won't be able to before they start harvesting planets.

Yep that is always the peril when using a hands on BBEG. To much power, and no chance of winning they scream railroad, as they should. There has to be a chance of thwarting the plan of the BB, and if the PCs manage to pull it off you just have to think of something else.

I mean if they manage to sneak up on him somehow in act for and kill him before he activates his uber killbots then they win. Albeit they have to figure out how to dispose of kilbots that probably have self preservation protocols and space vessels that can take anything they can throw that them. But maybe their is a way to fool them into accepting orders. If the players act smart there should always be an opening for them to win.

Okay, as much as it does sound like you're being an asshole, I admire the creativity it took to build a setting concept that you were happy with while not (entirely) figuratively fist fucking the poor dumb furfags (and they do sound like furfags, I've met some good furs in my time, but these bros sound like frat-boy equivalents)

for a d10/d% system that's fairly free-form and has some tech and vehicles for you to use, I'd suggest something like Eclipse Phase (creators even released all or most of their game product for free over back-alley torrents) minus the setting, space ships are basically reduced to weapons, structure points, and maneuver checks (you can more or less handwave fuel and FTL drives as subordinate to the plot or make them keep track with some houseruled mechanic) and everything is roughly pseudo-gritty sci-fi.

Here's some netrules for costing out custom (read: furtastic) bodies for your players to pick up or create on their own, and since the rules already have a spending limit written in for generation, you can tailor power level to what suits you. For reference, with the basic points allowance a character can have some decent battlefield and technical expertise with a couple dozen mid-range skills thrown in with a roughly metric shit-ton of gear or reputation balance (EP econ is taken as both monetary exchange and based on PC accomplishments a la post-scarcity society, so your hippie girl might geek out at that)

A few notes about the EP system

Read the rules, don't skim anything, most of the complaints I have seen are from people who missed some little thing here or there, especially in character generation. Be prepared to make corrections for the THOSE FAGGOTS who will be the most focused on the sex switch ability the can give a morph (book's name for a physical or digital 'body')

You probably won't need to use the rules for loading egos or anything related like forking, farcasting, or install insanity.

A few rules you should be very aware of:
    1) all skills at generation have an upper limit of 80. Period.
    2) this means that a PCs best skills will be succeeding 80% of the time on a straight roll, so MAKE USE OF NEGATIVE MODIFIERS as appropriate to the situation
    3) wounds, this is my fuzziest area, but damage rates can range from taking scratches while under automatic railgun and microwave fire to being gibbed by a very accurate hollowpoint pistol at close range, it all depends on what kind of armor and actions your guys and the PCs are taking (addendum: I'm also not sure if taking wounds period has a secondary debilitation effect attached to it, so read up and take notes if necessary)

finally, I highly suggest you read some of the stuff about the ETI and brace probes (cthulu-like alien AI construct) and applying the content to your BBEG and robots minions. Make it weird, make it slightly impossible, and subsume (literally have your tech EAT and INFECT the GLORIOUS FURPIRE) or kill what can't be coerced.

Wounds provide -10 to any actions taken, taking two at once forces a SOM x 3 check or unconsciousness.

For maximum fuck, use the basilisk strain exsurgent virus on a bunch on the PCs while a gunfight is going on. E.g. posthuman army in combat with PCs and allied NPCs. Suddenly NPC 1 starts convulsing, other NPCs start babbling about hearing things then experiencing the results. The only way to not get hit by the hack is to close your eyes and stuff their ears (apply penalty for large eared morphs), but doing so might let the posthuman army overrun them.

    >>15305909
electronic sensor interfaces block the effects of basilisks IIRC, right?

But yeah, unleash every nasty trick in the book, the first ones on remote NPC allies first, let them hear through rumors and second-hand gossip, after encountering weak-line strains themselves, amp up the deadly factor at a less-than comfortable pace. Your PCs should be trying to outhink the possibilities being used on them or they'll quickly become dead, especially if they enjoy the typical animu charge and engage maneuver.

Always, ALWAYS, try to force them into cover and 'suppressing firefights', that is duck and blind fire A LOT (i.e. in Vietnam, a soldier typically expended 1000 bullets for every 1 enemy casualty (aka wounded guy), that is, not a fatality (aka dead guy)). Your furs should have some stockpiles at first to give them a grace period before the 'peace-oriented' manufacturing base of the Glorious Furpire can't keep ammunition supply up with demand and research needs along with the ever-expanding front, causing a rapidly dwindling source of supply, forcing the players to conserve resources or starve their weapons.

Walkers could be a big help initially, but get taken down fairly quick over the sessions; the biggest and most dramatic losses should be in front of the PCs eyes. Nothing educates and demoralizes a soldier faster than seeing a proud imperial symbol of JUSTICE barely getting off one shot before some human wunderwaffen blows it to metallic confetti while a few smart crewmen vainly attempt to escape before the 'flash on the horizon' catches the second vehicle in its deadly tide.

Do be sure to mention, even if obliquely, that their abilities to think realistically, plan, and adapt on-the-fly will be severely tested. If the furs argue, tell them that is your condition for running a theme that you are inherently uncomfortable with, but are willing to try since you like them as people. Yes, lie to their faces, it'll give you a small grace period to figure out how screwed they're going to be and adjust slightly so they don't die in the first five minutes; the hippie chick and the anifan chick will/should give you brownie points (if i understand women at all, that is) for being accommodating without being a jackass.

I expect your combats will mostly be ruined cities or built up areas that will soon be ruins? Try not to do anything that's RF;ED, but a dynamic battlefield and crumbling cover for both sides might be engaging enough for the action-oriented to overlook the 'shoot, scoot, duck' mentality that will see them come out alive (unless you're going to run an action-oriented combat). Set numbers of combatants and reinforcements might be a good place to start, but adjust higher or lower based on PC progress and failure. Bots might move on to another sector while the remainder mop up an insignificant threat (bad-rolling or outright incompetent PCs) while exterior forces would likely be called in to aid a beleaguered force (good rolls or surprising competence); the aim is to provide a challenging threat, but keep them moving to whatever the objective might be. And since this will probably be a military or paramil campaign, you can gave transparent primary and secondary objectives to ease the plight of rail-followers or the unintuitive.

A simple way to make it gritty would to be have real world tactics vs movie tactics. Most kills are made with artillery/planes/ other sorts of fire support, with infantry mostly there to fix targets. Contrast that with ANY scifi movie, where two armies always clash in a tiny killzone.
Furries are running around with big glorious AT-ATs (obviously not literally) with soldiers behind, and then a drone paints a target on them and cruise missiles destroy it, with cluster bombs for the infantry.

No. You have to shut down all electronic systems, close your eyes, stuff your ears and hope you were fast enough. The hack works through and against electronics as well as physical exposure.

If you go down the NPCs hit first route, have some NPCs turn against them with prior symptoms (detailed in the pdf) due to the YGBM strain. Then once they have gotten comfortable with the idea of NPCs getting infected, have other NPCs who are not infected fire on them. Basically, make sure they _never_ know who can be trusted.

Then there's PSI and the Watts Macleod strain. This translates to happyfuntimes in the hands of a good GM. If any of them are powergamers (which I bet the furries are), they'll try to get themselves infected by that particular strain. JOKE'S ON YOU! Haunting virus infection!

What they covered the most with us was that combat control was there to ID targets. Some of the hardest core, toughest people in the 1st world, and all we were supposed to do was be a set of eyes.

Spotter drones, successively smaller sizes, as PCs get better. Erratic flight patterns and quick movements. Also, don't discount the effect of inertial/GPS guided semi smart munitions. Initial target paint until launch, then weapon guides in on last stationary point marked.

Also, modern smart style bombs are all thick walled frag beasts with a solid explosive core. The simplest are simply a bomb body from the 1970s with a GPS tailkit and some fins strapped to it. Any penetration is a simple function of kinetic impact. 500lb, 2000lb, falling on your head from 5 miles out is going to make a mark. Blast radius is in the 150' category for 80% wound rate on infantry.

    Gah, lost my second post...

So heavy armor can reduce chance of death from frag, but a direct hit will wipe the floor with just about anything.

Hopping from cover to cover as it gets wrecked behind them, popping spotter drones and forward spotters. Hard to stop the bomb itself, but could be done with enough gun... like a CIWS system...

Newest systems out in the real world can hit a moving truck sized target 80% of the time, IF they have target guidance all the way in. Sudden jinks at the last second can avoid the terminal attack, but there is literally less than 2 seconds to pull it off.

For reference on penetration amounts, a 2000 penetrator body will go through 20-30 feet of hardpan earth, 15 feet of rebar reinforced concrete, and a 3" steel plate. A standard 500lb body will puncture the top armor on any modern MBT, and 5-10 feet of concrete.

Final. So a simple series of a dozen production lines could get enough weapons systems active to be a valid threat to large, slow supposedly high tech enemies. Scouting drones, an air launch platform, or even terminally guided artillery munitions would be enough to hold ground. Tailor made for a PC team, rather than mass combat armies clashing. Easy to tailor difficulty, as increasing bombardment/scouts, or decreasing accuracy can make urgency important, but tailorable to PC performance.

Mid tier encounters would either be a NPC spotting team, or a launching platform, or a inertial guidance broadcast platform if these things won't be sattelite guided.

Hi tier would be the factory itself.

it's all typical damage and soak for EP, heaviest armors are around 13~15 points of soak (the 13 is for an EVA shell that isn't much good for combat or walking, and I think combat powered armor runs around a 15/15 rating) and are divided between kinetic and energy (layers don't stack unless penetration of a certain layer has some special effect that relies on not being punctured by a lot of damage)

most personal arms range from d10+1 (avg 6.5) at the weak and melee end all the way to something like 4d10+x (avg 22+x) with aiming, autofire, and crackshot/sniper traits accounted for. Ship weapons I think are supposed to be roguhly x10 damage and IIRC x100 range, or maybe it was x100 to both? (x10 for vehicle scale?) And even with ship armor soaking 30 points at best, that's a crapton of damage coming at the target.

Most vehicles are either light buggies with some impressive maneuverability (one has jumpjets that can reach lunar orbit or martian sub-orbit) or are heavily modded synthmorphs/robot shells; the splatbook for the inner system has rules for solar-inhabiting morphs and gear and a nasty-looking HK aerospace jet that works as part of Planetary Consortium defences and Earth-interdiction.

You can also build you own bots and fudge some vehicles up.

for reference, I built my spaceship mechanic out of a novacrab (cybernetic/gengeneered cocnut/spider crab roughyl the size of a human or slightly larger and with a bit more mass) and it had something like 40~45 wounds on it, which as far as I can tell, is just about as heavy as you can get, and he only had parkour, limited nanite deployment (a handful of specialised micro-hives, only one could deal direct damage, the others were workers or scouts), and pugilism/omnitool claws on ten arms (only two of which counted as main hands; ambidextrous has to bought for every off-hand individually, including repurposed feet) as his primary combat utilities

he had up-armored carapace that sat at something like 11 energy soak, 13 against fire, and 9 kinetic soak (IIRC 9 is for a heavy carapace, though it might have been 12(14 fire)/11); 13/13 (13(14)/13?) in the pod

Damn that is a cool system, do it OP. Your GURPS might be good but this sounds more frantic and frightening when it comes to combat. Make this guy the Bain of Heros. When some NPC in is mech challenges him shonen style have him draw the idiot a kill box with tanks hull down behind ridges 4 miles away. Sure he could go up and crush him with is badass power armor, but unless it is a stunt to cow the populous into submission and make the local forces look like total wimps don't do it. And even then have him use dirty tricks even when he doesn't have to. As a practical soldier he should get no joy from challenges, only from the swift and decisive defeat of his foes. That's how he would be conditioned as a super soldier.

Have him deploy tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield if his foes bunch up in the standard "charge forward in a big disorganized mass" army. Or lead them over bouncing bettys that scissor the mechas' legs off with explosively formed penetrators.

Have this guy employing even inferior technology in ways that still crush the enemy. Have him drilling for oil and methane like a motherfucker, because as you know as a petroleum geologist oil is an extremely dense energy storage medium. No sense not to use it if you have it. New and flashy technology is not always better. He could use big smoke belching war machines for part 1 of the story because at the technology level he can currently manufacture a really good internal combustion engine is still better than whatever scifi batteries the furries use.

Make it obvious that ninja mecha bullshit will not dodge bullets or missiles. Have the filthy mutants try to do the missile dodge thing only to have the missiles proximity fuse go off and fire three tungsten crowbars up their ass like it would in real life. And make the paper thin nature of mecha armor obvious and contrast it will the solid durability and mass of the tanks.

Instead of her fantasizing about jumping around with a sword dodging bullets and violating physics, she'll start wanting to roll out from a hull down position after firing a tac-nuke from her maingun or ATM pod. Well if he really threw it in their faces just to be an asshole I would totally agree with you guys. But since he seemed so tepid about being openly dickish at the beginning I have a feeling he's doing it mostly to get some laughs while making an enjoyable campaign for the player and not be driven insane by a furfag based campaign by minimizing the chances for fetish shit by making it war setting with a celibate soldier as the BBEG and robots as his mooks. Remember though if this is your last game with them at least make it good. Make them hate you but goddammit respect you for making an awesome campaign with a literalist approach to their requests. You give them everything they want, and turn it around to that there is still conflict. And frankly the furfags couldn't ask for a big bad that caters to their interests more. He is an evil human soldier that murders furs, rapes the natural environment, and doesn't afraid of anything.

Though I don't care for war settings myself, thumbs up for finding a realistic and disturbing reason for the Star Trek/Culture egalitarian society which is impossible in real life but so prevalent in fiction written by politically left authors. They can coexist because unlike the skull fucking and imperialistic humans they are not natural organisms nor artificial organisms that have to compete for survival. They are pets and as such are domesticated. Kind of a Brave New World thing going on here.

A real interesting question, is BBEG Geist a capitalist, socialist, or fascist? He is an engineered soldier, and the army is a state institution thereby being socialist if it is subservient to a nation state or fascist if the military commands the state. Or does he see his job of fighting for his nation as a duty not only to them but too all mankind. That is to say does he think that intra-species competition makes humanity stronger as a whole even though it apparently smashed our empire? In which case, he might be leaning capitalism because he believes in survival of the fittest. Or does he not really care about how society is organized so long as he can fight?
    >> Anonymous 06/18/11(Sat)11:39 No.15308235
    >>15308209

I don't think he's really driven by the more complicated socio-economic implications of his goals. He has an ideal of humanity that no longer exists anymore, and is just tearing up the current society that exists in order to bring back SOME semblance of what his ideal is.

How those "true" humans will be organized and live after he achieves that goal probably isn't really considered.
    >> Anonymous 06/18/11(Sat)11:44 No.15308260

He would be a fascist in the actual sense of the word, which is the idea of an all-powerful nation/stat/'volk' which the individual must be completely subordinated to in order to achieve a common goal. So, no matter how much the Special Furry Team argue with him, even if he agrees with them he'll just say that his personal opinion doesn't matter and he's following the will of the state that created him.

Despite having a rough outline I honestly don't want to railroad this by making it nothing but flipping them the bird. As much as this thing started as a chase of me thinking "Oh, you want a furfag campaign? I'll give you a campaign mother fuckers!" I have mellowed since Monday when I fist starting drawing things up. Now it is more a last hurrah type thing to try and keep the other two players in some fashion and maybe soften the weeaboo girl to grim darkness with the injoke that is Geist.

Frankly the two decent players jumping into the DH group in the middle of the current campaign is not such a good idea since it is coming toward the tail end and the weeaboo has little background knowledge of 40k other than "shoulders HUGE" and "skulls, skulls fucking everywhere". So this will introduce stuff like archeotech, mindless super soldiers that live only to fight and serve the Emprah, planet annihilating wars fought by realistic numbers of soldiers(the number of combatants in 40k is about the only thing that is realistic in it), and the tank fetish of the imperial guard. Basically through themes at the wall and see what sticks, then use those aspects they like to tell them why they might like DH.

Something just occurred to me: you could throw in allusions that BBEGeist is similar to the Emperor. It's all vaguely similar: a world living in the ruins of its high tech past, with little or no knowledge of how to use it, and someone appears to unite humanity to make it great again. Of course, in the Emperor's case it was warring tribes of techno-barbarians rather than peaceful furries, but like I said, vaguely similar.

Well there probably are scattered remnants elsewhere rebuilding but not in the galaxy in question or the neighboring ones. I actually have no FTL communications for the furries just couriers using FTL travel, though I should make BBEG try and fail to contact anyone. Which could be an nice side mission, destroy the signal beacon. That could be a way to draw him out for a confrontation with the PCs on their terms rather than his so they have a hope of beating him.

Like 40k I wanted to make interstellar travel fairly slow even for the human ships, partly to create an environment where BBEG could build his army and partly because I wanted to play up the vast amounts of time it took humanity to conquer such huge swaths of territory.

The Japs had no tanks during WW2 so the image of the brave men commanding their landships and shelling foes from miles off doesn't resonate with them. To them a Sherman, which although not as terrible as rumors say was still more of an pre-IFV in design and usage than the medium tank it was pressed into service as, was like a King Tiger. They had nothing that could touch even the most shoddy tank of the period besides sachel charges.

So they are still stuck on the whole Knight/Samurai thing and disregard tanks entirely. Rather than separating the two as the rest of the world does with the armored warrior being clad in power armor and the tank being like a naval ship but on land.

    Worse. Much worse.

No, his demeanor is infinitely worse than the first three options.

    4) The Loyalist. The marine. The man who went into hell to uphold humanity. A public war hero. A guy who was lauded in the public eye for his deeds, even recieving medals from the heads of state for his serivices.

Now everything is gone. The things he strove to build and defend with his blood, sweat, and own two hands.

So he's gone off his rocker seeing the current state of the 'verse.

Worse, because he's now The Fanatic. the crazy guy with an edge over everyone else.

This is important, because it gives you an important plothook and a way to introduce him as an powerful enemy. For Life.

The players run afoul of him on his first objective, after getting off the rock he woke up on.

He's after his heirlooms. His family photos, his medals, the things left from his past. Hell, maybe even his vintage car. The last few scraps of his past, and sanity.

Whether this is at an 'ancient archaelogical site' the PC's are defending, or a museum with his shit on display (after he 'died?' humanity's supposed to have been *gone* for a while). no matter the scenario, he's after his own, and he's NOT going to take no from an answer when he barges onto the scene to take what's his by force.
    Especially from slave vermin.

Let the players win this one. They earn some answers and leads into what's happened. (oh god, its a -human-. what the shit man?) Pictures, informations, leads. Whatever.

Oof, came up with this just after I posted.

Graves. Perhaps after the remains of his family (the datanet says there's a connection here). Or perhaps his own, mislabeled, skeletal corpse on display.

No sane person should allow graverobbing or theft on their watch, much less the PCs. Set the tone not to where he barges in and does stuff for no reason(lol dmpc), but set it up such as that the players instinctively see him as an adversary, whether its some choice insults, coming off as a prick, or just being -arrogant-. You're aiming to set them against him just on appearances and content...

The delicoius irony being that this whole thing is a huge misunderstanding that has spiraled out of control, to the doom of the galaxy.

That is an idea. Even assuming he is a vat grown soldier without a family he would probably be highly protective of relics of his lost civilization. Flags and banners might hold special significance to him. He might send in killbots just to find the scrap of a flag he once saluted. For at matter he might see the humanoids as stealing from the graves of their dead masters and punish anyone that owns relics with death, also this would have the added bonus of keeping dangerous archeotech out of the hands of his enemies.

Should the PCs really find out so early?
Wouldn't it be better if the furries don't see his human side until it is far too late?

And regarding his past, maybe he was born as a regular human?
Maybe he's something who, fighting monsters, became a monster himself? (which is exactly what the PCs have been doing if they are anywhere close to winning)

It would be kind of fun to force furfag players to turn themselves post-human in order to defeat the big bad.

They really can't expect to use their stolen human weapons and power armor to will their current physical limitations.

So although they don't become godlike masses of technology like the humans did they still change to the point that they have more in common with the BBEG than the furs they want to save.

Though I have a feeling the OP and alot of guys what this type of BBEG to have no redeeming qualities other than maybe loyalty to his race and state. I mean that based him on MD Geist for Christ's sake.

Though I have significantly cooled in regards to tvropes in the last year, I still think they said it best. "he obliterates humanity just to be an asshole. He obliterates humanity. Just to be an asshole."

Warning: You're an idiot. MD Geist is BEST.

Only furfag virgins and terminally ill Space Aids victims don't like it.

So MD Geist is to /m/ what skubmachine is to /tg/? At least until we found out the skub machines rules were actually pretty balanced and well thought out.

This is your 2) OP, you will use it.

I agree with this. His players are tools, but OP's approach to it is childish.

While that may be true, I think it can be pulled off successfully.

More than that, I want to know how the game went.
