Here, sorry that I'm late, just got home.

Anyone interested report in, I'll be back and typing things up in 5-10 minutes.

You are a strange creature, capable of taking over other lifeforms to serve as your vessel. Your current host, Jack Winters, was unbeknownst to you a drug addict, and overdosed on speedball. To survive, you bonded with him, but this damaged you, leaving you without any idea of what you are.

Your kin, the bodysnatchers, seem intent on murdering you, and have sent combat specialised variants, called Warriors, after you. The reason seems to be that you are a Hunter through accident, a form that is the greatest weapon of the race.

The Fools, who you had an easy alliance with, are not who they pretended to be, Megan having some kind of connection to Agent Jacobs and the Doctor knowing more than he should have on the Origin virus that infected Catherine. When you went to their hideout to get some answers, you were attacked by a modified cyborg unit, reprogrammed to kill you. You escaped thanks to the Cannes Belli arriving on the scene.

    Your known abilities are:
    - reinforcing your muscle and bone tissue, making you several times stronger, faster and tougher
    - growing weapons from your arms, limited to one on each arm in any combination:a hooked, double edged blade on your forearm, claws or a spike that springs out from your wrist underneath your palm
    - hardening your skin into thick, segmented bone plate armor, and growing a membrane under your skin, that contains fluid that hardens on impact
    - absorbing ingested organic material, that you can use to increase muscle and bone density(animal tissue is the most effective)
    - the ability to call forth your host's memories, skills and knowledge
    - altering your appearance, includin skin\hair\eye colour, facial features, height, build, and gender, though the more elaborate the change is, the more time and effort it takes.
    - producing almost any kind of drug, poison or acid in liquid form, including sedatives, that you can deliver either at high pressure from an opening that can be created anywhere on your body, or through the wristspike.
    - emitting pheromones that influence humans
    - sensing the mind-link of bodysnatchers
    - enhanced senses, capable of switching to different spectrums (infravision, ultrasound, noise filterin, etc.)
    - fiber-optic nervous system, allowing you to ignore pain to some extent, and speeding up your reflexes by orders of magnitude

You jog across the street, nervously looking for any who might be following you. Even miles away, you can hear the emergency services rushing to the scene of the battle, the pires of smoke visible for everywhere in the city. The house you broke into seems strangely serene, unaware to the destruction.

The door opens before you get there, Daisy looking out with a bored expression. The Professor is standing behind her, distraught. "I heard what happened from Daisy. What are we going to do?"

Looks like megan, doc and whoever they were working for have an entire block of city worth of death and destruction on their hands.

I wonder what group they are from.

    What do?
    Honestly, I do not know.
And actually, I don't care that much for what happened. I could imagine Jack being pissed off, but the bodysnatcher? .. Meh

Try to infiltrate the Wise further? Search for the Fools? Hunt bodysnatchers for samples to absorb? Contact the Wise and hope that they will cooperate instead of dissecting us outright? Uh-oh, I think we should've examined the prof a little better to make sure the Wise didn't hook her up with any sort of failsafe in case she defected. Either way. I don't like the sound of this.

I kind of figured the Fools would backstab us sooner or later, so the incident last night didn't piss me off too much.

But for now we need to really sit down and determine long-term plans. I'm all for just using the people connected to us still to get our hands on as many genetic samples as possible and get some sweet, sweet new powers before we do anything like revenge.

Not even waiting for your answer, she hurries back in the house, and comes out with her purse. Daisy starts to sing some kind of song, the words complete nonsense so thay rhyme. It is frequently interspersed with the word yay.

You scan her with every sense you have, trying to find some suspicious activity. Her body seems normal, bloodflow, breathing, heartbeat, body temperature etc. showing no irregularity.

You almost give up, but there's something that just doesn't seem right, though you can't quite put your finger on it. Then, it hits you.

    Kellery has a mind-link.

Not a complete bodysnatcher one, just some kind of malformed, unnatural version of it. A steady stream of information seems to be coming through it towards her.

Sooo, I think it's time to sit Daisy down and have a talk with her.

If she's doing this intentionally, I think we should tell her to tone it down a bit. It's good to have a devoted ally to use, but not if that subversion limits their mental abilities.

If she's doing it without realizing it though, well then we just need to watch Kellery and make sure she doesn't degrade further. And maybe limit her exposure to other people.

Limit Daisy's exposure to other people, I mean.

Thinking a little bit more though, with Kellery now designated as Daisy's caretaker somewhat, I think that might help us in giving us some more freedom to explore around and hunt without worrying about leaving her on her own.

The other problem is that Daisy is still a kid and might demand Kellery to do something that would risk exposing us or just wouldn't be very healthy in the first place (ice cream every night? I know if I was a twelve-year old girl, I'd try to get away with it).

Either way, talk with Daisy, see if we can figure out the cause of this for sure, and then determine next course of action from there.

Instincts we shouldn't allow to affect our alien mind too much. I'm guessing one of our priorities (other than survival) is freedom. Daisy turning into some sort of Hunter-Overseer thingy could endanger that, so we need to keep an eye on her and not get blinded by "Dawwwww".
    >> Anonymous 06/18/11(Sat)20:03 No.15311609
I think we actually care about Daisy. Just a little, bit still. The fact that she's still mostly human triggers d'aaaaw from Jack. At the same time, she has a mind link, so she can understand us better. She's similiar to us, we can symphatise with her.
Same deal with Cath. She's not an useless load anymore. She's not human. She's our equal. Alien, but familiar. She has potential. With some work, we can make her into a force to be reckoned with. Easier said then done, though.

Of course, we're still looking mostly after ourselves, so if shit hits the fan, we may take drastic actions.

Well then. I don't think we can teach her how to control this stuff, since we're not an overseer ourselves. It may just be something she has to figure out on her own, she won't be able to gain full control of her abilities if we hold her hand the entire time.

The main concern with this connection she's created with Kellery is that it seems to be interfering with the Professor's mental state in a negative way. If we can fix the "slowness" part of it, without breaking the mother-daughter connection that seems to have sprung up, that'd be perfect.

I have no clue as to how we'd go about doing that though.

Why do we want her to gain full control of her abilities? When we first heard her voice in our mind, it was in such a way that she was TRYING to compel us, only our broken state allowed us to remain unaffected.

Should she gain full control, how do we know we could continue to resist and not become a pawn? Maybe we already are slipping under her influence?

That is a good point, but Daisy could potentially make a powerful ally if we play this correctly.

She's a young, frightened girl and instinctively looks to us as a sort of father-figure, since we rescued her from the research lab and we're probably the first person to treat her nicely in her whole life.

I doubt she will CONCIOUSLY try to make us her slave, but we do need to be cautious of her doing it accidentally. She's probably terrified of losing the only sort of semblance of family she's ever had, and her "push" with Kellery may have been her trying to prevent that.

She turns towards the two of you, her face pale and drawn, obviosly feeling sick. Her lips part, and she frowns in concentration, only managing to utter a raspy "what".

You push the girl a little, so she stands in front of you. "Go on, kiddo, tell her." She stares at you, reassured by your expression.

"I pushed you to be happy. Jack said that it's hurting you, I'm sorry, I didn't want to hurt you." Her lips tremble, the mind-link flaring up with fear of rejection.

A stable, free-willed merger of machine and flesh that (theoretically) is immune to all diseases and can improve itself on the fly to meet challenges. A single sample of her technorganic flesh would be enough for the to forgive a hell of a lot more than the relatively minor damage we inflicted. Yeah, they won't get the chance. we maintain autonomy. Daisy isn't going back in a box and neither are we. We maintain our home outside their control, and they provide us with a method of contacting them. we do everything on our terms. We've proved we can take them apart with little difficulty. We made their fireteams look like kids playing counterstrike. We evaded them multiple times and infiltrated them twice, technically. We've proved we could take them apart if we wanted to. We can plow through their tinker-toy security and there's little in their arsenal that can stand up to us. And now we're bargaining from a position of strength. we have a source of viable technorganic flesh. We have the ideal weapon for hunter bodysnatchers (us). We've had access to their files, so they don't know how much we do or don't have. And we have info on the Fools that they don't. Just because we don't have a plethora of energy lances doesn't mean we're not in the position of strength.

    Very good question.

    Short answer:

    No.

    Long answer:

The process of absorption isn't simply taking the information of certain abilities. You take the undamaged bodysnatcher material, and use it to build yourself up, growing more complex, patching up the missing parts with the new, and different, ones. This is the reason why the the bodysnatchers as a race are so deadset on killing you.

What you do is not regulated by any of the ususal limiters the Queens install. Where you progress is something entirely dependent on you, and the material you absorb.

Let's see some rolls if you would like to spend a minute pondering this in character.

And the Wise have been around for a while, that makes them conspiracy-theory territory. We don't have enough data on them to make an informed decision.

    >>15312488
We need to find a way for her to feed, expand her powers so we don't have to protect her.

And let's face it, if Daisy wanted to eat us, she'd have done it while we were unconscious and helpless days ago. Likewise, if she was connected to the other snatchers, we'd have been swamped with Warrior or hunter units in our sleep. If she's a free agent like us, then she needs us for protection. If she's a scared little girl with mind powers, then she needs us for protection. Either way, she needs us, and we can exploit her powers while giving Cath and Kellery a binding anchor to help keep them connected to us favorably.

You try to figure out if you yourself want some, when the sensation of a mind-link hits you. There is a bodysnatcher, a mere sixty meters from you, likely on foot, from what you can guess from the speed.
    Wat do?

Daisy has her ice cream. Now we leave. If they follow, tell daisy "Daisy, there's a bad person following us. If they start getting close, I want you to use your mind to yell at them to leave us alone and forget they saw us, ok?"

Eat some ice cream. Stupid aliens, trying to ruin our ice cream time. Unless it's another hunter (highly unlikely if there are only 8 of them in the world) it's not really a threat on it's own, we'll just have to eat before it's backup arrives. Or this might be a good time to see if Daisy can control it with her overseer powers.

You randomly point at one of the flavours, and step out the shop, licking the gelato. It's pistachio, surprisingly good. You haven't really eaten anything else besides raw meat and an omlette you cooked, which wasn't very well made. The heat outside is opressive in contrast to the cool of the cake shop, the ice cream getting runny fast.

You can sense some activity in your direction from the link, and Daisy pulls on your shirt. "It wants to know who we are, and what to tell the big one in the yellow house. What should I say?"

The Wise operatives caught an Overseer in Southeast-Asia, who supposedly had changed it's nervous system to be fiber-optic. Kellery told you about it. You then had all the active samples transferred to Dirar Falil's office, where you muched on them. They were of no realtion to the one with fiber-optic nerves in any way, besides being of the same species.

Make a note of the address of the house. If we want to give the Wise a nudge about us not being 100% dedicated to wiping them out, a location of undetected infiltrators wouldn't be a bad bit of info to drop to them.

Daisy tells you the adress, remarking "The big one feels like me. I try to hide from it, it feels scary when it tries to find me."

She takes your hand, and you walk back home, listening to her prattle about which is the best ice cream flavour, why it should be mandatory to serve it everywhere, and how sad it is for people who live in very cold places that they never get to try it.

Daisy is giddy with excitement at the tought of being able to shift, and it takes you a while to calm her down enough to properly teach her. You explain the ability as best as you can, and she picks up on it fairly fast, laughing while she experiments with colours and shapes in ways you never really thought of.

She is hopping around the room, her eyes red and two fuzzy, white bunny ears flopping around her head, when you ask her if she would show you how to hide. "Sure! It's really easy, you just need to make a net!"

Seeing your polite incomprehension, she grabs your hands."Just watch how I do it." You can feel the mind-link about her change, the skin contact amplifying your senses. She folds it together, in a manner of speaking, turning it from an open signal into a closed web, encompassing the surrounding area, but blocking signals from outside it."See? Easy!"

Check in on Cath. Her transformation was progressing nicely last time we checked. Want to make sure we're there when she wakes up. Also, look in on Prof., make sure she's ok.

You walk to the living room, to check in on Cath to see if she's fine. You find the sofa empty, and the window beside it open.

In a panic, you run upstairs, rushing into the bedroom the Prof was in. She's still there, sleeping peacefully.

Searching around the house, you see no sign of forced entry, or any struggle.

    Wat do?

Considering that her body hasn't been cleaned in a few days, Cath should have a unique scent to her. Our heightened senses should be able to follow it. Tell Daisy to stay with Kellery and Mindlink us if there's any trouble at all. We go bloodhound and track Cath down.

Let's see, Cath wakes up in strange house that is not her's or her boyfriend's, wanders off.

If there was no struggle then obviously she just woke up, felt left out and went to get some ice cream. Despite there being no other reasonable explanation, I guess we could get Daisy to try and find Cath with the mind link just to make sure she's ok.

"Daisy, honey, could you stay here and play alone for a little while? I need to find Catherine." She smiles at you, one bunny ear upright, the other stretched out horizontally. "I'm used to playing alone. If the pretty lady is in trouble, you should hurry."

You nod, an head out, trying to follow the trail Cath left. She has a distinct smell since she got infected, so your job is fairly easy. You pass by a car, with it's bumper missing a large piece, shreds of it scattered all over. You start to hurry when you find a dead dog, half of the poor thing chewed off. The trail leads to the industrial area you met your first cyborg in, to a small warehouse, the plaster on it's walls fallen long ago, the bare bricks showing. making your way through the broken glass and shattered junk, you start hearing loud, metallic screeches, like steel being crushed or torn.

You peek inside the building, glimpsing Catherine kneeling on the floor, a dead homeless man lying beside her, his face mostly eaten, alongside his arms up to the elbows. She has something in her hands, but you can't quite see it, her back towards you.

She knows us, knows we're non-hostile. She probably woke up ravenous like we did. So she's eating everything she can. She's probably having a hard time controlling herself. Broadcast telepathically while we approach, speaking out loud. "Catherine, cal down. Nobody is going to hurt you, but you need to calm down. Come back with me so we can get you some food. I know you're hungry, confused, and probably a little scared. It's ok, just stand up, and come with me."

This seems really weird, but for some reason this scene reminds me that Jack used to have a dog. Wonder what ever happened to it.

As you start to talk, her head snaps around, revealing that she's been chewing a large piece of scrap metal. Her mouth is bloody, partially from her victim, but also from the large wounds caused from her trying to eat steel and iron. Her eyes shine with animal hunger, metallic and blue, just like the when she had her episode.

She snarls, flinging the piece of junk away, jumping to her feet from a kneeling position. You can see her hands shift, becoming mechanical claws, and she leaps at you with a fierce cry!

Here's where we stop for today. Someone please archive this, because I'm about to hit my bed with enough speed to cause the sheets to combust.

I'll see you guys on saturday again, 16+ PM board time.
