    (Previous thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/15841535/ )

You are Renekton! Lone croc chilling in the Nile with a simple dream: to be the best dancer ever! However, dancing as a crocidile's hard. Lots of weird looks, people poke you with sharp sticks, and your body isn't geared towards the graceful step like the humans on land; you're unnatural in your pursuit, to be sure.

However, your display with a recent school of fish and fishermen has piqued the interest of the gods. While you sleep from your wounds, Set, chaotic god of the desert and darkness, has come to you in a dream, offering you what you've always wanted: a chance to dance! Of course, he requires your services in exchange for your dream-come-true, but it's worth it....right?

That was, until Sobek, crocidle god of the Nile, showed up and forbade you from making the deal! Mom always taught you to respect the gods, but now you're in quite the quandary. Follow Set and become what you've always dreamt of, or follow Sobek, the patron of your species, and return to the Nile.

"YOU DEAL WITH DARK FORCES, RENEKTON! THOUGH YOUR MOTHER HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO ANUBIS' CARE, HER FEELINGS FOR YOU REMAIN! DO NOT DISAPPOINT HER!" Sobek commands from atop his spiral of thrashing water.

"Oh, come now Renekton. I can give you what you desire: the audience, the hats, even a form more fitting for your performance...all I ask is that you follow my instructions..." his voice entices you as the wind picks up over the red desert sands.

    What do?

    1d20 for each action.

    This could be hilarious.

I mean, yeah Sobek is right, but goddamn being a croc in the nile is boring. We were BORN to dance! If not in body, than in spirit! What good is life if crocodiles can't snap beyond their bite?

    Pray to Set!

You consider your options. Sobek may have crafted your species, but what has he ever done for you? He never let you dance. And here's Set, his strange animal head grinning, ready to offer you the chance of your life.

"No; I won't be just another croc in the pond!" You growl at Sobek.

"RENEKTON, YOU WOULD DARE DISOBEY ME-"

"Yes! Have you ever had a dream?!"

"You tell him, Renekton..." Set smiles as he sits, stroking your head.

"Call whatever god's meddling you want into question: Meret's gift of dance, Set's call of chaos, Horus' call too serve, or even your own need to create an example of unnatural law, Sobek! But I won't be just some tool! I'll be my own croc! I'll do what I please, when I please it! And right now, I want to dance for the pharaohs, the streets of Khartoum, and wherever else has eyes to see me!" You soliloquize.

Sobek, slowly drifting down from his pillar of water, takes a few steps up the obsidian temple. With his scepter in hand, he extends it out towards you.

"RENEKTON, YOU ARE ASKING FOR MUCH..."

The other crocodiles never ask for anything, because they are nothing inside! They have no spirit, only the body you gave them! I have a spirit, a will to be greater than I am! And if you won't help me, then I will find someone who will!

Sobek's yellow eyes narrow to reptilian slits, his maw closed tightly as he stares at you and Set.

"RENEKTON, I CAN OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE. YOU CAN EITHER FOLLOW SET AND BECOME A BEAST OF DESTRUCTION..."

"...now I never said that, Sobek. How could you spread lies about people like that?"

"SILENCE, SET! YOU MAY LEAD ORDER ASTRAY, BUT EVEN ORDER BENDS ITSELF!"

Sobek takes a few more steps up the pyramid, lowering himself to your level.

"IF YOU PROMISE TO NEVER REVEAL YOURSELF TO OTHERS OF THE NATURAL WORLD, I CAN ENSURE YOU A RANK AMONGST THE GODS, ENTERTAIN THEM WITH WHATEVER..." Sobek shakes his head, almost surprised that he's actually saying what he is: "...WHATEVER JUVENILE DANCING YOU KIDS DO TODAY?"

"Fat deal there, Sobek. But I'm sure that Renekton here is more interested in pleasing the plethora of mortals that inhabit the earth. I mean, why entertain just for gods when the gods may watch from the aether as you dance for kings and farmers alike? Hmm...?" Set pets you.

You're in a pickle now. Follow Set, god of chaos and receive power to crush your enemies and learn the dance of death for all to see, or follow Sobek's sudden deal and dance for the gods themselves...for a price.

(Tl;dr Blood for the Blood God or keeping order/being a dancing superhero entertainer?)

    Bump for decision time.

    Set or Sobek?

They're both offering you pretty much what you want, but both have their benefits and negatives.

Set. Definitely Set. Blood for the Blood God, and Dance for the Dance Throne.

You turn your long face to Set. You make contact with the strange god's eyes; empty, lusting, and anticipating your next decision. You clench your jaw, bowing as best you can in your quadrupedal form. Set's lax max spreads into a toothy grin, his eye-lids looping as he stares at Sobek.

"Well, it looks like our boy here as made his decision..."

"PRAY THAT THE OTHER GODS DO NOT DECIDE TO STRIKE YOU DOWN, RENEKTON..."

With his final warning, Sobek's form fades back into a spiral of water before retreating across the desert. Set raises his hand to his eyes, watching as Sobek disappears into the red horizon. With a grin still on his face, he laughs.

"Renekton! Your decision will be well-rewarded... Now, come." Set beckons you as he calls you up the steps and into the temple.

Waddling up the sandstone steps, you finally reach flat ground at the top step. You raise your head, marveling at solid black obsidian pillars, each inch covered in deep red hieroglyphs and images. You recognize a few of the stories, but are quickly returned to the task at hand as Set calls to you from deeper inside the chamber.

Your claws find slippery footing on the reflective black marble as you slide nearly helpless across the floor.

"That form is...ill-fitting for your new purpose...wouldn't you agree?" You hear Set croak from the darkened corners of his temple. "Come...wash yourself in these waters..."

And, almost at the sole power of his word, the marble floor warped in your view, creating a shallow pool surrounded by dim torches. The water appears darker than the deepest bank of the Nile; you can see little below its unmoving surface.

"Renekton...come...and rest within..." His voice says pleadingly.

You put one fore-leg into the water and watch as it sticks to your skin almost like tar. You pull away, but the water tenses, almost anticipating your doubt.

"Oh, come now Renekton...you want to be a star, don't you?" Set antagonizes you from the darkness. "No pain, no gain...."

You feel fear and, with it, regret, overcome you. Still, you've made your choice. Putting your foreleg back into the water, you let yourself sink into the strong liquid. In an instant, you are completely enveloped, surrounded by absolute darkness.

Your mind flashes back to your mother, berating you for letting your meals escape because of your need to provide "entertainment with their dinner." You recall the school of fish, how they instantly ignored your fearsome display of power, and how you quickly silenced them. You feel your mind go red with images of the fishermen, with their sticks in hand, as they stabbed at you! You! For what?! Trying to entertain them! Well, they'll see... They'll all see!

Your dark baptismal pool begins bubbling. A few gurgles at first, but it quickly escalates into a cacophony of heat and steam. From your dark depths, you angrily strike towards the surface, splashing the liquid around you as you grasp the side of the pool with you...hand?

Set, from the farthest and darkest corner of his temple, watches you with nothing more than his illuminated red eyes. His teeth shining dimly, he ushers you with his scepter. From over your head, you see a curved blade fall from the ceiling.

"Grasp that power...and rise, Renekton. Perform the unnatural dance of death."

(Performance time, gents. Also, last bump.)
