Let's start again, who is up for the adventures of our Chuunin and his buddy?

So, which would be better: attack the tiger summon that's going after Gen, or attack the summoner?

Also OP, am I counting right and our Chakra Pool is at 4 right now?
    >> OP 09/23/11(Fri)00:05 No.16392830
    >>16392770

You're correct on the chakra count. If you kill/disable a summoner their summon seems to go away as well, and it may or may not be easier, that woman seems to be fairly durable and evasive despite her previous injuries.
    >> Anonymous 09/23/11(Fri)00:07 No.16392846
    >>16392830
Are summons like clones, in that they're investments of chakra and that killing/dispelling a summon is like losing a clone, and the chakra invested in it?
    >> OP 09/23/11(Fri)00:20 No.16392948
    >>16392846

Kinda sorta. When you call a summon the chakra is gone and used to move the contracted creature through space/time and bring it to your location. As a result they're separate creatures and independent of the caster, but it seems their presence is tied to the summoner being conscious.
    >> Anonymous 09/23/11(Fri)00:21 No.16392960
Threat assessments: the Hyuuga seems to be most immediate problem, his physical attacks can destroy our clones and prevent us from taking out the others. Next would be the puppet master because of the sheer number of puppets he has. Finally the summoner.

OP, is the Hidden Mist still up, and are the enemy shinobi inside of it?
    >> OP 09/23/11(Fri)00:25 No.16393003
    >>16392960

The Hidden mist has somewhat dispersed due to just natural winds. I can inform you about a cool little trick, and that's keeping one clone just in place and maintaining the Hidden Mist which would be 8*6 squares of coverage. For the moment the mists are too thin to really bother your foes.

    Alright.
It'll use up all of our remaining Chakra Pool, but Shima's the kind of guy to try it, I think.
Hidden Mist Jutsu (1 Chakra) and create 2 Water Bunshin (3 Chakra).

Do clones come with full Chakra Pools, or if we're out when we create them, they're also out?

    >>16393129
Oh right. So maybe it's best if we summon 3 clones, 1 creates Mist and stays with Gen, and the other 3 go on the attack with us next turn. Would that work?
    >> OP 09/23/11(Fri)01:03 No.16393286
    >>16393195

Sounds like a plan of action. Your clones spring up from the wet ground and one of them throws up his arm, the mist rolling out from him to cover the battlefield as he locks in on doing that, standing by Gen. Gen, now free of the puppeteer's attacks, is gathering his scrolls again for the next wave of combat. Your foes have disengaged, the puppeteer having gotten closer to the Hyuuga. At the moment you are closest to the enemy, with the Hyuuga closest to you. The summoner is the furthest away from you all and the tiger has slipped back to just behind the Hyuuga. They seem to be waiting for the prime moment to act.

2 of our other clones use the Iron Wind jutsu at the Hyuuga, and Shima attacks him with the greatsword. A coordinated attack to catch the Hyuuga.

Two blades of water fly inwards as you shunshin close to the Hyuuga. Your blade comes down, hard and fast, and the other blades come right around your sides, a perfect three-pronged attack. The Hyuuga's chakra signature suddenly flares up and he spins like a top, chakra exploding from around him and popping the swords as well as blocking your inward blow and making you shuffle backwards in surprise.

    >>16393544

I'll do y'all a favor and take the better one. So, you got 3 successes so you do Taijutsu damage +1. So he takes a whopping 10 damage.

As you smash your sword down again he rotates until your blade goes backwards, a smug look on his face which is cut short by you putting your sword into the soft earth, supporting yourself up into the air for a boot to the face as he winces in pain, stumbles back and has to clear the mud from his eyes.

The puppeteer calls his little army of puppets together and puts his hands together, sealing them back up in the scroll they came from as he reached into his belt and produced another one, unrolling it and showing you the symbol for the word "Nightmare". With a release a cloud of black acrid smoke fills the area, causing choking from all parties, except for the puppeteer who is seemingly used to it. As your mist disperses the smoke you see a hooded puppet with a huge wooden club knobbled with spikes standing at the ready, a kanabo.

The summoner sics her tiger on Gen, who this time was ready as he unravels a scroll throwing a small focused blast of kunai, easily twenty or so, at the tiger who vanishes in a puff of smoke, killed outright by your friend's quick thinking. "Yamada, these guys are well above us in skill. We need to lock one of them down to end this." he calls out to you as he kneels and unrolls another scroll in front of him, making a long series of handsigns, calling up something big.

(Ok, now your clones have action. Then you. Also, Gen may be carrying pills, but we're rather bereft of equips, we'll pick up some utility items and get more in-depth if we return home.)

Should we switch targets? At least while fighting with the Hyuuga, it keeps him from going after Gen or one of the clones.

Okay, here's my plan: Clone 1 puts out more mist again. Clone 2 uses a Water Dragon on the Hyuuga. Clone 3 grapples the Hyuuga. If it works, great. If not, it still leaves the Hyuuga open to our attack. How does that sound?
    >> OP 09/23/11(Fri)01:53 No.16393666
    >>16393643

Solid plan to me! The real us is tapped out of chakra right? Fortunately we have virtual 11 chakra to use.

The mist thickens and expands, making the entire town seem like little more than a bog. Calling forth the water from earlier your clone raises a water dragon which smashes into the disoriented Hyuuga, who when he rises spits up blood before seeing your last clone charge him, his Byakugan-affected eyes bulging as he slams the clone's chest and pops the water clone instantly.

(He's in injured. You really did a number on this guy, jeez. Shimaru can really pack the beats. This Hyuuga's had to tank you pretty much 100% while his friends set-up, let's hope their setup isn't too deadly.)

Wait, change of plan: Clone 1 still has his sword; Clone 3 puts out mist since he still has Chakra, Clone 1 uses an Iron Wind jutsu against the Hyuuga. That way we still open him up for our own attack, but don't waste a clone.

The man rises, right arm shooting forward like a javelin, as your blade sweeps the horizon and leaves a head whose eyes go black completely and force the eyelids closed. The body crumples to the ground.

"Good work!" Gen calls out, surprised at his own support of you. As you finish off the Hyuuga he rises and claps his hand, behind him now stands two huge rectangular machines which slide open to reveal at least a hundred holes that will each fire kunai towards the enemy. Without the Hyuuga to deflect the incoming storm Gen calls out, "Checkmate! Yamada, get out of the way!" He says and with his words of warning you can leap up on top of the machine.

(Gen's out of Tactics Pool. Additionally his machine needs one turn to hum up as the chakra-seals need to ignite to launch the kunai.)

Your friend grits his teeth and curls up his arms, dodges, but takes a sharp rap from the weapon on the arms, as you hear a bone snap. Despite the pain, Gen jumps back up and kicks the puppet with a surprisingly good kick, at least by Gen's standards, making the puppet wobble a bit.

However, you are helpless in the air, evading the genjutsu-dust. The combined ninjutsu attack blasts over you.

    Very correct.

Gen puts his hand on the machine and calls out, "One." The sound of a thousand kunai ripping through the air at once, like the cry of falcons diving, as they whistle towards the targets. The puppeteer gets peppered with them, from head to toe. The woman parries at surprising amount of them before a block of them render her combat arm worthless and she watches as the blood runs down her arm. Her clones were instantly killed by the attack. The puppeteer's body releases smoke as it is revealed to be one of the Genin-marionettes, and the Puppeteer laughs before Gen whispers, "Two."

This time senbon, needles used by medics and acupuncturists, fire forward. They're so small and fast none but the Sharingan could possibly see them coming and react. Additionally, when they hit the puppeteer and the woman the victims squirm and reveal that each needle has steel wire tied to it. "Three!" Calls out Gen and the machine juts out a wall of sharp spikes and the wires all pull inwards, the sound of a motor jerking at once fills the air as the victims are pulled to a grisly death, impaled on a wall of spikes.

For the most part you find little, they were very certain to leave any identifying marks at home. However, the puppet is in great condition, only a few nicks from the kunai. The puppeteer has loads of his scrolls tucked away in a very orderly harness he wore around his chest, though about 3/4 the scrolls are ruined by either blood, holes from the spikes, or both. Only the Nightmare puppet remains well. Startlingly you can sense the puppet gives off a faint chakra signature.

However, the woman shows something interesting. She has a picture of her and two boys, her children perhaps, standing outside what looks to be the Tsuchikage's office, Lord of the Hidden Stone village.

As you move around, however, you feel your strength waning.

    >>16394065

Gen's really not in much shape to do much of anything at the moment. But he'll try.

Your comrade pulls the last scroll out of his robes and wipes some blood from a pool of it on the ground on it, a puff of smoke appearing and a dove appears, "Go....get....help." he intones before passing out fully. The dove flutters away. The pain screams over your body and wracks you totally. It's a miracle you survived. If the woman herself had used the fire, instead of the clone, it very well may have been your final mission. But it seems that your toughness and ardor gave you the wherewithal to kill these foreigners. However, that doesn't mean you need to be a hero. Finally your body gives out the shutdown message and you hit the mud.

You awaken in a glass orb, dressed only in your pants. Hundreds of tubes are in you and three major cables lead to paper tags with the word "Heal" written on it. Outside the orb three medics are trying their hardest to channel their chakra through you and the system to accelerate your healing. Eventually the water drains out and the cables withdraw from your mouth and chest. The wound in your chest seals up immediately. The orb opens and one of the medics, a short business-like man sizes you up, "Report to the Mizukage. He wants to talk to you himself."

So, fresh out of the healing tank and still a little shaky; but looking quite good for someone who faced down a firestorm, only a little charring around your extremities, but the doctors assured you that it would be healed in a few days, you head to the Mizukage's office.

Don't worry, you've got the scroll.

Soon you stand before the Mizukage who is sitting at his desk. He's a young looking man, almost too young looking. He in fact doesn't look much older than about 16. Despite that he is known the world over for his incredible power and despite your rippling physique and massive sword, this man could flatten you in an instant, or so rumor would have it.

"Are you well, Yamada Shimaru?" He asks first, his voice just as soft as his appearance. The young man leans forward, revealing a long staff with a beautiful flower on the top of it as he gazes at you with his deep green eyes, "I hope that the medics did a good job in taking care of you."

    The package bundle sounds good.
Let's keep the bulk order in mind, though. There's other stuff we need to pick up as well.

What about Exploding Tags? They'd be pretty useful, especially if we can prepare a battlefield ahead of time.
Also, are there any Water Scrolls that we could use to turn a battlefield into a marsh, or create a supply of water?
    >> OP 09/23/11(Fri)04:36 No.16395061
    >>16395045
Explosive tags are easy enough to make, you just need the materials. You can get ink and chakra paper for about twenty tags for only 10 ryuu. The scrolls you are talking about can come in one of two forms. Either they are scrolls where the shinobi has just sealed water into them, and the others create water, making them a pseudo-fountain. Obviously the second option is far more expensive.

Let's see what regular storage scrolls are. The fountain one sounds too expensive for now, and we don't have a jutsu that could take advantage of it anyway.

But armor like that, the ones that remain, were usually owned by powerful or important shinobi, and their legacy or interests are usually keen on seeing it preserved or handled well. As he sits down and reads he holds up the book and mentions that what you have is the armor of the First Raikage's brother, a shinobi who was famous for using a massive battle axe. He has a hugely negative sentiment following him in the Hidden Leaf, as they lost many battles in the early wars to this titan until the First Hokage grew a tree from inside the man's stomach when he subtly planted a seed in the man's food the night before. Hunter-nin, are of course, the hardest to get into. A good hunter needs to be a fast and overwhelming killer, we have that, needs to be adaptive and versatile, we've shown that, and needs to be able to perform stealth ops, which we have only slight experience in. Additionally a hunter has to be well learned and able to defeat a varying number of techniques and opponents. Also, being Mist Nin, Hunters have to be willing, ready, and able to kill anyone short of the Mizukage himself if ordered by their immediate superiors.

This is what worries me. Most hunter-nin seem to be generalists, or at least have good genjutsu and ninjutsu knowledge. We're pretty much specialized in just swinging our sword, and our two main jutsus are geared towards supporting that.

So 3 for that course? Looks like Blitz is ours. We now move at glorious Speed Rank 2. So masterful is our speed that lesser shinobi cannot react properly against us, imposing a -1 penalty to all rolls directly opposing us. Additionally we can now cross insane distances, those distances being (Taijutsu+Shinobi Movement)*2 in a move action and double that as a full round action. That's without shunshin. WITH shunshin we move double our run distance.

Blitz- your base Speed Rank increases. Unlike other Perks this one costs 5 points per rank. For example to move from Speed Rank 1, the normal for shinobi, to Speed Rank 2, it would cost 5 points. To go from Speed Rank 2 to Speed Rank 3 it would cost 10 points, and so on. This is the Speed Rank you always can move at with no cost to your chakra pool or fatigue. As such only Chunin can increase their Speed Rank and that is limited to 2. Jonin can only reach Speed Rank 4 base and can never go higher without temporary boosts.

So I think with that we have Greatsword 5, which means we're maxed out on Greatsword. That entitles us the Greatsword Master Perk, for free :D. It means any time, at the cost of 1 Determination we can negate a 10 that shows up on our rolls. The only limit is to our determination. Additionally, for our devoted training of our swordcraft, enhance either Dedication or Taijutsu permanently by 1 point. Since Taijutsu is capped for us, it has to be Dedication.

So we're at Nin Knowledge 3, I think, Gen Knowledge 1, Tai Knowledge 2, Greatsword 5, Shinobi Movement 4. We're filling out well, Jonin is not too far out of our reach.

Also, on the matter of Speed Ranks, since we're getting up there. Despite moving at that speed we can't see opponents moving at that speed unless we ourselves are in motion. Additionally, moving any faster without a Perk to help us will give us tunnel vision. Lastly, some Kekkei Genkai can see you as if you were moving normally despite your higher speed. I came up with few signature tecniques, like:
Leech Kiss, which might be initiated on grapple (or while enemy is under effect of genjutsu) and reqires Chakra rolls opposed to Ninjutsu Roll+bloodline mastery, and depending on successes injures, wounds or outright kills oppoponent.
Leech+Swapm themed genjutsu which destroys some of the enemy chakra pool, if he isnt aware of it.
And ultimate bloodline skill - absorbing chakra from enemy ninjutsu, though its gonna put you in injured state, while negatin this ninjutsu.

For reference, here's Gen's character sheet:
    Injury: 3/6/12
    Taijutsu: 3
    Ninjutsu: 8
    Genjutsu: 5
    Chakra: 6
    Determination: 3
    Chakra Pool: 8

    Feats-
    Master Tactician
    Intelligent Chakra Management

    Skills-
    Infiltration: 2
    Shinobi Movement: 3
    Deception: 2
    Ninjutsu Knowledge: 3
    Water Style Talent: 2
    Tactics: 3
    Fuujutsu Knowledge: 2
    Medical Techniques: 1

    Unique Abilities:
Hidden in Plain Sight - For a point of Determination, can subsume his chakra and make it extrememly difficult to detect. -1 dice pool penalty to detect user; rises to -2 if another shinobi's chakra is prevasive in the area.

Metal Storm - For a point of Determination, can use chakra to control and increase the power of scrolls, up to the number of Ninjutsu. Can be used in conjunction with Hidden in Plain Sight without penalties to non-detection.

    Jutsu:
    Water Clone
    Hidden Mist

I'm not sure if his Stormfront is a Summon or a Signature Technique.

So, proposed level-up, assuming the same Skillpoint and Perk reward:
+2 Kunai Use (gives him a melee in case something gets close to him)
    +1 Tactics
    +1 Fuujutsu Knowledge
    +2 Ninjutsu Knowledge

This maxes his Ninjutsu Knowledge, which should give him an attribute increase, if Shima's Greatsword Use hitting rank 5 was any indication.

    Perk: Deep Reserves
Gen is pretty dependent on Chakra for his attacks, so increasing his reserves sounds like a good idea.

Kunai Use is good for range, but Tanto or Wakizashi would be better for actual melee combat.

I was thinking, generally speaking with unique abilities we basically come up with our own ideas yes? And as long as they are within reason they can possibly be created at some point?

If thats the case I have an idea for a potential unique ability. Whether it is used or not I don't mind but I thought I'd share: So we have some amount of control over water; how about an ability to creat a group of water spears the strike out from pools of water (or the air if its humid enough?) into the enemy. Does that seem plausible and useful?
    >> Anonymous 09/23/11(Fri)13:13 No.16398251
    >>16398202
    Plausible.
To get a unique ability, we need to go up to Jonin rank. Or we could use 3 skill points or a Perk to make it into a Signature Technique.
The difference is whether we want to use Determination or Chakra in order to fire it off.
In the case of what you're suggesting, I think it better if we get it as a Signature Technique, and have it fueled by Chakra, because then one of our Water Clones could fire it while we press an attack with our greatsword.
You can bring it up when we next get some skillpoints.

Now let's review what armor does. In addition to being a flat out reduction to all damage inbound, your armor can also help you in melee if you choose to evade. If you nominate to evade Rank+Shinobi Movement testing Taijutsu, and you fail by a margin of one, you can reduce any result you rolled by 2, to a minimum of 2. For example, you roll 8, 3, 9, 9. Your Taijutsu is 7, (I know it's not but for example), we need to bump that 8 down and turn it into a 6, boom, success.

Not that are well known, the Sage of Six Paths, the founder of ninjutsu far in the past, had a legendary set of eyes called the Rin'negan, but that was over a hundred years ago. Kekkei Genkai of the eyes seem to be centered around Konoha as they are all mutated strains of the original, the Byakugan.

Let's grab a couple (2) storage scrolls as well. They're kinda pricey, and the odds are against us running into someone else with funky eyes soon, but you never know, and hell... even if we don't want to use both ourselves (because of the chakra drain on grafted Sharingan, for example), we could probably sell the other off for a lordly sum. Or sell both off for two lordly sums.

Does this sound okay to other people?

Oh, also, this isn't exactly something we can shop for, but we should keep our eyes open for opportunities to get some sort of legendary sword. Gotta have a shiny choppa, roight?

With our funds sitting pretty at 30 ryuu, but leaving the market-place a much better equipped shinobi, we head up to the military district of town where Academy students are running long difficult runs through the village with heavy packs on their back, being forced to alternate between runs and jumps with a Chunin teacher yelling them on. However, despite the strain the young boys and girls and laughing with one another.

The Genin you can see, however, have completely abandoned all friends, their hands are stained with blood from the battle royale implemented by the current Mizukage. What few Chunin are available wear the flak jacket and headband and take all shapes and sizes. Lastly, though it is difficult, you see about two or three Jonin who are actually in town and not on missions.

The Tobeketsu Jonin in charge of mission dispatching is waiting for you, checks you in off the medical leave lists, and immediately finds a mission for you. One of the nearby lands has sent out a request for a pair of shinobi. He says that Gen already checked in and dispatched on a B-Rank Classified mission. This mission is a B-Ranked Open mission. You are to travel to the Land of Hot Water, a small strip of land on the coast of the mainland that is little more than a puppet town for the Hidden Mist. Rumors of bandit attacks lead by a shinobi are coming to the Mizukage and the Lord of that Land finally saved enough money to buy your services.

Okay, so I don't quite know how ooc it'd be to ask this but- What's the tech level of the five nations? Has it flourished without Bijuu to hinder progress? Has the relative "peace" that comes with no giant chakra monsters tearing everyone new holes caused stagnation in the pursuit of science? I ask because in the normal narutoverse they've got stuff like tv/video security, electricity, and even cars if I remember correctly. What's changed between these two worlds?

The lack of Bijuu as a stabilizing factor has actually decreased technology. A lot more money and national focus goes into the cycle of war and preparing for war leaving little for recreational sciences. However, short-range radios do exist, motors exist, electricity and in-door plumbing is still around, but the TV sets aren't, we still rely on summons or shinobi for long-range communications at high speeds.

As for each individual nation you'll find them at about the same with the exception of the Hidden Stone village which is one of the wealthier ones.

You share notes and because of this you not only learn a jutsu but you make a new friend. This shinobi is named Misato Hideki, and he is a Genjutsu specialist. He mentions to you as you both sit down for some soba outside a shop after training that his last mission was a flop when he let his target escape because his Water Clone broke and he was forced to seriously wound the target, reducing his pay, that's why he's learning the Water Prison. He also says that he's trying to find a good mission to join or a partner to work with. This is called a Conflict of Interest mission. There's a large shipment of military supplies moving through a civilian area. As such we can't deploy large-scale ground forces outside of our village, however these good are meant for us. The team is assembled to counter a team of enemy shinobi who will be going to sabotage our shipment and claim neutrality since it was done by unknown forces in a neutral area. We captured an agent from their organization weeks in the past and had Interrogation rip his mind up to find this out. It's going to be a four on four brawl, Jonin level, but not High-Jonin level. You do not recognize the Genjutsu specialist, a wide-grinning man with sharp-teeth, as all men in this village seem to have. He wears a sharp pair of sunglasses and wears a heavy trenchcoat over his flak jacket. The ranged specialist is none other than Kisame Hoshigaki of the Seven Swords, his mammoth Samehada rests on his back as he looks over the team. When he sees you coming he gives his famous chuckle and speaks, "So....this is the melee specialist, eh? Looks like we're in good hands. It's a pleasure to meet you." As always he is famed for his politeness and he bows his head to you. Yuki stands up and announces, "Everyone, we're moving in five minutes. Get your gear ready. Going on full offenses is a great way to die and throw away invaluable tool to the village. We need to be surgical and precise. That means we need to put their eyes out first. The enemy sensor is the key to defeating them, as it usually is. Between the two of us we should be able to find any sensors and work together to disable them. If we can deny a unit their sensor, be it lethally or non-lethally, we have a huge edge, as now the enemy is forced to fall for our advanced tactics." She said quickly and spoke, "We will cover the plan more in depth in the middle of the fight, Kaji!" She snapped as the man who was leaning back in his chair rose and saluted, "Yes boss-lady!"

As soon as his hand comes into contact with your forehead you feel his chakra probing at your skull, a feeling you uneasily let into your mind.

However, once he removes his hand you hear and understand thoughts as quickly as you understand your own. With this system in place you can receive large amounts of information at ludicrous speeds and process it almost as quickly as you can your own thoughts.

"Don't worry, after this mission we'll clear you of the Genjutsu, Lord Mizukage seems to have taken a shine to you." Kisame says with a chuckle as you all form up and depart out the window, burning the map in the fireplace as you leave. Travel with these individuals is extremely fast, they don't stop to relaunch themselves for as many as twenty to twenty five trees. You, however, take about forty trees before you need to relaunch yourself. In transit she informs you about the various ins and outs of everyone's techniques.

In addition to her medical skills and tracking she is a Kaguya, the last female Kaguya in the world. She keeps her bone-skills quiet from the rest of the village, but she, this team, and the Mizukage are aware and use her as a loyal and valued military asset. As such she informs you to worry about her safety last, it's hard to kill a Kaguya.

Kaji is called the Whirlpool of the Mist because of the power of his genjutsu and his sealing jutsu which can lock a man's chakra system up entirely. He is fairly quick and reliable, though no amazing shakes in hand to hand, he is at least at the low-Chunin level.

Kisame needs little introduction. He's a monster in a man's skin. His chakra reserves are legendary and he can create large sums of water out of raw chakra. As a result he will be supporting you with his Baksuishouha, his Water Explosion, which will turn even the most open area into a shallow lake for a while. Once there is water he can support you with hand-to-hand and summons.

Facially we never described, but as far as gear goes...

You catch a glimpse of yourself in a puddle as you shoot over it. You stand roughly 5" 11" and have a lean but healthy physique. You wear the standard shinobi sandals of your village and have a skintight cloth outfit as your bottom-most layer. Above that you wear your prize suit of Second Shinobi World War Armor and over that you wear a large-sized flak jacket, gray for your vilage, but without the defining shoulder pads that your comrades wear, instead yours has the raised neck-guard of the Leaf shinobi.

Are we wearing pants? That's kinda important.

Also, we need a hairstyle. I'm having a hard time stopping myself from suggesting curly and silver/white to go with our mist theme.

Also, black would make more sense in general.
    >> Anonymous 09/23/11(Fri)16:03 No.16399580
Hmm...we could use the mist to create a buffer between the sensors we're targeting, and the other enemy shinobi.

Since Endo has said that taking out enemy sensors takes priority, we should probably try to gang up 2 on 1 when we detect them.

In short order you arrive at the crossroads where the caravan is waiting. Yuki briefly orders the caravan to set off and in short order they are moving their horse-drawn carts down the road at a brisk pace. The non-shinobi guards look you guys up and down with a mixture of awe and questioning challenge. They wonder what the difference is between a shinobi and a man, but know that this isn't the time to find out.

Time passes slowly as you all spend most of your time walking, except for Yuki, who spends her time sensing, her eyes closed and hands together as she scans the area for any foreign chakra signatures. It isn't for almost two hours before she rises and says, "Four shinobi have shown up, heading our direction from the south at high speeds." Your caravan is west-bound.

Kaji and Yuki stand side by side with Kisame between them and back about ten feet. You stand in the front of the ground.

The whistle of kunai fills the air as you instinctively raise your sword to deflect them Yuki calls out, "They're tagged! Move!" With her guidance its easy to get out of the way and when the explosions kick up dust Kisame rears back and spews forth a small ocean of water, the shock of it blowing back the targets that were going to land in their smoke. "They're disoriented. You can strike now, try to take out the sensor! He's the one with the bandana."

    (Ok, let's roll some combat!)

Determination to 5, since ours currently stands at 6.

The blade swings down and the force of the blow makes the water explode around you and your target as you slice him straight in half. Both pieces fall over and you get the feeling this is where your skill truly lies.

Now that you're in enemy territory they react to your presence, trying to capitalize on your being here. One sprouts massive fists of stone and swings at you, as you get the sense that one blow could probably kill you. However, because of your speed you weave easily and evade it. The other figure throws up a huge wall of stone behind them, putting their backs oddly up against a wall. Lastly one of them draws a handful of explove tags and hurls them up in the air and at you, ready to set them off.

(Rank+Shinobi Movement to GTFO those bombs.)

Nice Extra Successes. You not only gtfo but give a parting toss of your own explosive tag, hitting one of them square in the face and blowing his face off. The man sets off his tags and all four of them are little more than pieces of men now.

"Strange." Kisame says as he relaxes, but Yuki calls out, "Incoming!" Atop the raised stone area stands five men now, all of them wearing white masks with blue paint streaked across it. They are wearing black flak jackets, black boots, black armor, giving total anonmity. From their body types however you can see this. One of them is tall and fat, two of them are of average height, one has a long blond ponytail, the other has a spiky black ponytail. The other two men are shorter than their fellow men. One man has a neat curtain of black hair, and the other one has a shock of silver hair pointing off to the left. They all stand atop the rocks and watch you before one speaks, "I was hoping those Iwa-nin would give you more trouble, but it looks like you were sent by the Mizukage himself. Quite a good team." The voice is calm and deep, the voice of a man and a father. You can feel something odd, one of the pairs of eyes peering out from the mask captures your eyes and you see too late the spin of red and black, the Sharingan Eye.

Your perception fades to a vast and seemingly endless room, empty and hollow. Everything is reverse colored, like a picture negative.

Suddenly the illusion breaks as Yuki touches your back and stops the genjutsu. Exhaustion hits you and makes you breathe out hard. This is a whole other category of foe.

(And now off to work I go)

Yep, hanging around him is probably stupid and crazy.

Which is why I think it could be like our version of Maito Gai's insane training.

Probably not, actually. I just have an instinctive fear of black ponytails.

It's still 5 dudes, any of which could probably kick our ass, and 3 of which definitely have superb teamwork.

Anyway, since it was a bit ambiguous, did we get hit with that genjutsu from a single Sharingan, or a pair? (It's still "oh fuck" either way, but it may be slightly different levels of "oh fuck".)

We're just a Chuunin. ;_; Though, if we survive we'll be a Special Jounin in no time*. :D

Something like that. If we want to do anything useful here we're going to have to be sneaky, lucky, and opportunistic as fuck. Fortunately, we have a while to think before the quest resumes, I believe.
