Could a Kekkei Genkai that drains chakra drain Samehada? Yes. We've seen Samehada can pass chakra along as well as eat it, leaving me to believe that it should be able to be drawn from. Samehada is 1/2 living, it seems.

Right so we have a sensor/long range specialist now we need a healer support type. We could also just get another powerful fighter instead.

    reposting:
    Well, we obviously need Aya.
Strong point of Kisame is mostrous ammount of chakra, weak point is a weakness to genjutsu (Samehada negates this though, but Gen can pretty much seal his sword or something).
As Aya should have done some solo missions now, she can get a medical ninjutsu knowledge skill, and chakra manipulation skill.

OP, I have a question about the Cohesion Bonuses on Team Roles.
A single team member can take 2 roles, correct? Does the CB apply if 1 person has the 2 roles, or does it have to be 2 people?

Like, if Shima takes Melee Specialist and Sensor, will the team get the CB?
Or would Shima have to be Melee and someone else on the team have to be the Sensor?

    >>16418683

That specialist made earlier had to drain chakra through physical contact though wasn't it? I don't think prolonged physical contact with Samehada is in any way a good idea.

We can only take two roles in a Duo-scenario, this is due to our earlier training as Academy Students. In a team of 3 we're back to 1 role.

However, to actually answer your question, the roles have to be spread out. The Cohesion bonus exists from the support one class gives the other. A sensor can guide a melee specialist, but not if that specialist is himself.

Ok, so, we need Aya. Your book informs you of her address and her Kekkei Genkai. She's a little greener than you would hope, just a smidgeon beneath Gen's level, but if you can apply her talents correctly, as well as Gen's, you're going to see success, hopefully.

Ok, I'm gonna list all the unique Jutsu, abilities, and Perks she and Gen have as of updates. Don't worry about their stats, but you need to know what they're good at.

Pros: He can't give anyone knowledge of us if he's dead.
Cons: He trained us, he knows how we fight and he knows alot of our tricks.

In fairly short order you get Aya out and dressed. Between her, Gen, and the registry you have a good feling for what tools you have.

    Gen:
Your long-time friend has been working on his combat effectiveness. Since he was roundly rendered useless in what seems like that ages-ago fight against the Jonin, Gen has worked primarily on his sealing. Now he can delivery Fuujutsu from range, so long as he has a clear avenue of fire, despite that, it's a very short ranged technique, his most effective ones are at point-blank range. In addition to Stormfront, however, he also has two supporting machines called Thunderhead and Lightningbolt. Thunderhead is excellent at battlefield control, covering the area in caltrops, explosive tags, and light grenades. Lightningbolt is offensive pure and simple. He went to great lengths to make three heavy pitons which land in a triangle. Once the formation is set they run lightning through the entire area between them, paralyzing and usually disabling a target.

    Aya:
In addition to boasting admirable Genjutsu skills, Kaji being her former sensei, she is also a Medic and an infiltrator. Her career and bloodline had her being used by Yagura as his favorite assassin, killing high ranking noblemen of other countries by appearing to be an expensive call-girl. Despite that, in combat she can apply her same weakening touch to targets. She knows the Temple of Nirvana jutsu which puts a large area of people to sleep, especially those weak to genjutsu. She can ensnare people with stick water which she can spit, and lastly, inspired by tales of Gallant Jiraiya, she can use her hair as a last-line of defense and attack. Her most powerful technique, however, is Mantra Grip, wherein she holds the target in a Genjutsu where they both push their chakra into her as she drinks it. At this point, when she is overloaded on chakra she releases it all in a single blast called Heavenly Cannon.

Gotta admit I kinda like this path of evolution for Gen. I'm kind of torn about what to give him for his Jonin special ability.

WHICH remind me, we need to decide ours. All your stats, btw, boost by 1. Nin, Gen, Tai, Chakra Control, and Determination go up by 1. That's your gift for being a Jonin, as well as your special ability.

Lastly, you guys need to think up some ones you're interested in. Throw up some ideas, vote on others, try to come up with a few choices, I'll be back in like 6 hours, it's time for this OP to go to sleep.

If it works against Kisame, chances are we can use it on anybody else and it will have _some_ effect.

And I mean it would probably turn them into chunky slasa.

How about we use the "chakra chainsaw edge" around our sword to disarm, making it impossible to parry? Would be extremely useful against the Samehada (provided it wouldn't just eat up the disarm chakra).

That would probably require a hell of a lot more chakra control and ninjutsu/taijutsu knowledge than we currently have as a jounin. The main problem being that it'll eat our stamina like nobody's buisness, unless we only use it as a damage multiplier at the end of a series of sword strikes. Unlike the elemental saws we've already binded to our sword, the process of making a neutral chakra saw with the type of power you suggest isn't streamlined like the rest making it difficult to use in a battle with anything above b-rank shinobi. It's a good idea and totally worth implementing in the future, but we need to upgrade our abilities more first.

Alright, so I've combed back through the previous threads to get the Special Ability ideas we seem to have come up with. This is stuff that will take a Special Ability, and not just Perks and Skills:
    1. Blood substitution - be able to use blood rather than water in any water-based jutsu.
    2. Have our Mist wield our sword (might be possible to get it as a Signature Technique instead)
    3. Infuse our Mist with poison (requires Poison Familiarity, which requires getting a special teacher, and could be a Signature Technique instead)

We could also do something that activates upon and improves an attack, like Kisame's Monster in the Mist ability, to improve damage.

We can't control the blood, just use it as alternate raw materials.

Though I suppose we could alter it so that we can control blood freely. But then it would have a prohibitive chakra cost, and probably uncontrollable at our level of Chakra Control.

I just had a thought for a special ability we could get later on: Our blade can flicker making it easier to swing and harder to predict, why don't we make the same flickering property effect us? Not through use of the seal, I don't think we're experienced enough for that just yet. I'm talking about applied usage of shushin or kawarimi in place to fade in and out, evading attacks and confusing enemies. The fear factor from having some hulking armored ethereal figure blinking around in the fog while your comrades start exploding is definitely a plus.

Good day everyone. I see you're all having fun discussing special abilities, and, as usual, I see that questions have popped up. So, I'll go and make my breakfast and you guys direct any questions you have at me so I can answer them for you.

I'll tackle one to start with.
-What about Kages? Do they get more perks and special abilities?

Honestly, I didn't get that far. While I was designing the game in its initial run-through Kage level characters weren't to be fought or played with. However, seeing as how Jonin-level characters can easily bleed up with the Skill-Advancement system, which I failed to apply on the sample characters, I will have to figure something out. Instead of letting Kages roll 5 dice for rank and get another special ability, I will figure out something for them to get more SA's than everyone else, or for them to get more Perks. Or maybe they get a special Perk for being a Kage that has some interaction with SA's. I'm not 100%, I'll think on it. For the moment, however, think of this SA as your last.

I like the idea of being so fast that we blink in and out. I don't know if it should be a special ability, or if we can get the same effect by increasing our Blitz level and then creating a Signature Technique.

Right now, blood substitution seems to be in the lead.

I don't like that. It's very limited and it doesn't even really fit with ANY of our previous abilities (clones, mist, fire-water sword).

    Gotta keep it thematic...

Okay, how about this: evaporation. We can evaporate the water from things we touch, which turns it into thick mist we can actually use in our water techniques.

This means you could create a "bloodmist" from slain enemies if you wish, but it works on trees, grass, etc... could possibly leave the "target" of the ability shrivelled up as if burned or at least dried.
    >> OP 09/25/11(Sun)15:13 No.16422084

You will be able to in the future. You actually have a good shot at catching Kisame, he's only between an hour or two ahead of you, and he's not known for his speed. The Mizukage wants you to catch him before he can meet anyone from Akatsuki.

    >>16422135
    >>16422114
If you get Mastery (Hidden Mist) it'll shut out sensors from within and without, effectively blinding you outside your cloud, though you can still sense people's movement within the cloud. Getting Mastery again would let you sense outside it too.

Channel the evaporation through our sword? I think we can do that. If we make our Evaporation technique our SA and make a Taijutsu style about draining energy from a target before swinging back with the buzzsaw, like we had planned earlier with the flicker-style, we could be onto something.

On the other hand we're currently operating near the hidden leaf, this means he could be here to pick up one of them. On the other other hand, he might not be meeting a contact and just really likes the tea here. No water, and I'll be gunning for your friends first." he says, coming right out and telling you, "After all, what excuse does a tsunami need to make to an island? "No holding back. Let's be honest."

We've got to tank him to prevent him from attacking the others.

Since we haven't picked a team formation can we do it now? Since we can use the Jonin bonuses:
Shima - Melee Specialist for +3 to Taijutsu and CB with Aya for +1 to Genjutsu to resist genjutsu
Aya - Sensor for +3 to Genjutsu for Detection, +2 to Taijutsu for Movement, CB with Shima for +1 Genjutsu to Detection.
Gen - Ranged Specialist for +3 to Ninjutsu and +1 to Chakra

Throw sword as feint, use ninjutsu to create a run of the mill illusinary bushin, have our sword flicker so it purposely misses kisame, replace our selves with the sword and smack him with a bog standard puch to drain the moisture out of him.

There certainly aren't rules for doing all that, since it seems to be 3 actions. You can toss the sword and replace yourself with it as a full-turn action, or create the clone and toss the blade, then swap on your next turn. Not sure if I should allow Determination to buy extra actions, maybe at like, a cost of 4 Determination per extra action, and then only once per turn.

Unless the tea house was busy and there's a lot of tea nearby, I think we're going to have to go without water for now then. No point weakening ourselves just yet. Guess we're just going to have to be aggressive with out attacks.

You get the sword in your hand and swing down, Kisame tries to block and ends up getting cut anyway.

(You deal 1/2 damage to him. So he takes 7.)

Frustrated and seeing the lightning welling up around him, he throws you outside of the lightning ring and himself grabs his Samehada before jumping away. Now he rushes towards Gen but is stopped by a pair of thick anacondas wrapping him up from head to toe, the same thing happening around you as a voice sounds behind you, "This looks like an interesting game, may I join?" the voice is deep and slippery, like a giant snake. "Shimaru-san, with Kisame's defection following so soon behind Zabuza's I fear for the Seven Swordsmen. They're more than just a team, they're a symbol of our strength. I want you to join them. I want you to lead them, and I want you all to be in tip top shape by the end of the month. I will pay you a weekly stipend of 300 ryo instead of your mission completion payment if you can prove to me in a month's time that you all are stronger and more ready than ever for Operation Light Break." She says, touching a folder and passing it in front of you. On the cover it simply displays its title and when you try to open it, you find that its chakra sealed. If we're one of the Seven Swordsmen, doesn't that mean we have to wield one of the Seven Swords?

Yuki-The Boneyard of the Hidden Mist
Mangetsu Hozuki- The Reaper of the Hidden Mist
Tetsuo Kodomari- The Dancer of the Hidden Mist
Gendo Aragi- The Harlequin of the Hidden Mist

Outstanding. Ok, time for wall of text.

As always, this is subjective and just my opinion on things.

I originally saw Susano'o as something cool that Itachi did as his last act on this earth, a defining jutsu from a legendary bad-guy. Upon the reveal that he was a good guy my mind was blown, and the moment went down as epic. However, when Sasuke started manifesting it, the novelty and in fact the real power behind it quickly faded. Since Sasuke can just drag it up whenever he wants it becomes so dull to watch him fight, and whenever it goes away is just contrivance. It is so disgustingly abusively powerful that it shits all over the power-level of the world that has been so long established, and it lost its value as a definite jutsu that you went big and went home using.

As for the plot. Things were getting dumb for a while, as far as power-creep goes. Sasuke using the Susano'o every single fight, without end. Him having the double-super hyper special Mangekyou Sharingan eye that only he could have because he's so special and awesome also was stupid. Naruto, however, is still victim to the same thing.

Jiraiya is my favorite character in the show, far and away. Seeing him Sage Mode was, again, awesome. I had less of a problem when Naruto inherited it as it seemed like something he earned, rather than just got. That was fine, a little powerful, but a hard cap like, "Sage Mode is the ultimate ninjutsu mix" was fine by me. But Sasuke kept getting more and more bullshit strong, and so they needed to give Naruto more and more. Enter the Six-Paths Chakra Mode.

    Cont'd

It's beyond laughable to think that people called the Sannin the Sannin when Tsunade, who is a powerful shinobi, is known for hitting stuff hard. She can't respond to Naruto's BS. It just throws everything about the setting in the reader's face and forces us to accept these two central characters as the strongest things ever seen in the world and are unparalleled from out of nowhere and in a mere 16 years of life. Wow, that's some bullshit.

I think topping things off with the Rasenshuriken, Elemental Nature and Chakra Control as a single art as the ultimate ninjutsu, I can dig. Kakuzu and Hidan, I can dig. Pain is interesting and a really cool shinobi, but again, the writing fell to shit when everyone got a free life back because of weak writing and a fear to lose any of the fanbase. The show should have taken risks and had people die and stay dead. It gives a feeling of impact and actual suspense.

Sure. Itachi challenges Sasuke to their big final showdown. Sasuke unleashes a really cool lightning dragon huge jutsu that he made from causing a storm. Surely would be the end of Itachi. When the smoke clears Itachi is standing in a huge burning skeleton with a fuck huge shield and sword, calling it Suasano'o his ultimate technique. He's bleeding from the mouth and eyes, but Suasno'o is huge and Sasuke, due to burning out his chakra, releases Orochimaru who was trapped inside him. Orochimaru goes into a huge hydra which Susano'o kills with ease. That was Itachi's plan the entire time, to get Sasuke free of Orochimaru and then, after that, he dispels Susano'o and dies in front of Sasuke, giving him his Sharingan Eyes, essentially.
