This reminds me of my favorite Twilight Zone episode ever, in which a no account loser gained the ability to trade physical and metaphysical qualities with others, voluntary trades only of course.

He traded his broken arm for an old man's cold, his youth for cash (and then bought back youth for pennies on the dollar, a year at a time, from foolish young people), and purchased the conscience from the saintly father of the woman he loved - so that he might become worthy of her. Of course, without a conscience, the father of the bride murdered him later.

Ever since seeing that episode as a kid, it has always been a recurring theme I've enjoyed tinkering with; I've just never really had the opportunity to play The Bargainer, as I tend to think of that power/archetype, in a game as of yet. I think it would work in a supers game though, just be weird as heck.

It's a character type that works very well as an NPC. I've been planning to work the giant from the past threads that inspired this one into a campaign as a merchant. He offers to sell swords made form abstract or metaphysical concepts, but his prices are equally bizarre.

The players are asked to consider what they'd be willing to part with for the weapons on display. If they find later that they didn't like the deal, the giant will periodically reappear, and they may be able to buy back what they gave him--in sword form.

The problem is translating it to game mechanics. If a character sells his name you can at least enforce that by having all NPCs forget him almost immediately after being introduced to him. But if he sells his anger you can't really compel the player to not sometimes have his character display anger.

Likewise, you can sell a character a sword made of the first fallen leaf of every autumn, which is a striking red-gold in color and brings a slight feeling of melancholy when you grasp the hilt, but why is the player actually going to WANT the sword? What tangible benefits does it bestow?
