Okay /tg/ finally home I got my old (barely working) tablet working and I m in a drawing mood and it's Christmas.

    So let's build a village!
This is currently planned to be a one shot thing.

Consensus will be needed by posters to decide what will be done!
    >> Anonymous 12/25/11(Sun)12:08 No.17328335
Well, obviously, we need a church first.

I don't care if we're canonically atheist in this village's setting, you can't have a rural village without a rural chapel.

The village is on a cliff overlooking the sea and split in two halves, with a small upper community and a sprawling labyrinth system throughout the cliff face.

I actually kinda like the sound of this.

Honest, hard working people in a port-town. Allways a good base point for interesting shinanigans. Traids with far off peoples, pirates, invasions, espionage and not to mention plucky heros. It means we have to context our town, rather than make your typical empire. IF you wanted that then i suggest basing it on either London or Rome. (i know a allot about london)

My suggestion is to build a somekind of system to steer the turtle, without hurting her, maybe somekind of bait system where we put a fixed rod with fish to the right or left, so the turtle steer in that direction to eat fish, and once she is facing the direction we want, we let the fish go, she can eat it and keep sailing towards where we want. This way we can "drive" it

    Then build boats.

Then, watch the turtle for signs of impending diving, get in boats, and follow the turtle.

Or tie the boats to the turtle. It can be a Nantucket sleighride.

Let's think about this for a minute. This is a giant turtle. Big enough for a village to be built on its shell.

Are you GENUINELY telling me that, if it dives, it'll only stick to shallow water and not dive hundreds, nay thousands or leagues below the ocean? And, if you aren't, are you suggesting that we have enough rope for our buildings to stay floating sedately on the surface, rather than being dragged into the terrible briny depths below by the leviathan that we live on? Are you?

We build it as a normal house, and use glue on the spaces between the wood to make it waterproof. Just no windows. Make it with spikes around it so it looks scary for ships and if something ever attack the turtle, we can be like a defense system

Also wise. But I´m in favor of skiping steps since they take so long. Acquire information about intention makes us stand still until OP post said information. While if we try something we can see it done or failing already on the next step, plus any information OP would provide us. Something like

    >step 1: Hey what you want?
    >Step 2: Talk to you.
    >step 3: about what?
    >Step 4: I like to sing to people.

    vs

Step 1: Would you join us?
Step 2: No, but I want to sing to you

The palisade can be usefull vs amphibious enemies, like merfolk, or any attackers that is not fully seabourne. Also I think we should praise the turtle as our god. Or at least as something sacred given to us by the great Blue Mother (ocean). and the mermaid can join us for a ride so we can diplomacy her into helping our community or at least try. and on board the turtle she is close to our spears in case we need to attack her, although i dont think it will come to that.

    So

We have a beautifull shelter, we can now drive the turtle and the mermaid seems friendly enough. I say let her stay and since we have good shelter, lets build something else. Maybe it would be usefull to have a statin to dry the fish and a platform to produce salt from the salt water. I say we build both, the first can be two poles with a line between them and the second, a flat wooden surface and a bucket. this two simple structures give us acess to both salt and salted fish (a preserved food)

Bernard says that she (or he???) needs you to carry her bags up because on land it is very troublesome for her.

    >>Bernard is now rested and is at your disposal.

She says that she cannot talk with the turtle but you seem to know how you communicate with it with the drums. She says that these giant turtles are very rare. They live on the south seas they just come north during the hot seasons but the hot season should be over and it will be heading back south.

She says that she can breath underwater indefinitely and she cannot stay dry for longer than about 4 hours.

She says that there isn't much easy access food out here on the open seas where it is deep. But if you find a reef that is another thing.

    THE END
    ---

I m really glad that the Turtle Cult got so into worshiping. However I'm afraid my abilities of "improvising from nothing" are only good for this long.

Thanks to everyone that participated in this Christmas one shot! I hope you enjoyed this! I really hate to say this but I guess it did not turn out as good as I had hoped... this is what I get for not taking my preptime. I wanted to do more buildan' and drawan' but I created a very restricted scenario.

I am sad to say that THIS QUEST WILL NOT receive a continuation it was something I wanted to do for Christmas. Maybe I will make other drawquests in the future because this was really fun.

So Merry Christmas /tg/, and good night!

Indeed but I was thinking I might be able to pull this off by some player added ideas but I got the "burnout" and getting to worshipping the turtle was not the target I planned. I was thinking about more trading with other races but failed to get shit done.

Do you think I should have gone faster with the pacing?

I meant that the pacing of the events, like I could have made that days or years could pass in a short time to make building ad development faster, which is very important for buildan quests. However this scenario was unsuitable for it.

and again the fact that most of the area was water kinda slowed the whole traiding down, maybe a swamp, canyon, sky island and CAVE would have been better but like I already told you it was fun

In that case... A day/week per post? That seems like a reasonable pace, and allows us to build decent structures in short IRL time.
Come to think about it, day per post is better. A week would be too long.
