For those of you who asked to see it, here you go. Moved to another thread to keep the trolling and character assassination all in one place. Feel free to sage to keep it off page one. All of this is built entirely off of vME (the leaked version from a while ago) and the vast majority WAS built ages and ages ago, with the rest being done within the last week or so by the original devs assigned to 2.5 by request for some people's GMing pleasure. Yes I'm aware this isn't perfect either, nor am I claiming it to be the be all and end all of AdEva. The difference is that it was all done in a quarter of the time 2.5 took to get to "beta" and is far more heavily playtested and balanced. Also it was developed under a certain set of restrictions outlined by BMJ, so a handful of issues are going to be present in both versions. It's not a legit edition, it's just named that way because the person running Borderline Case thought it'd be funny to name it a custom edition just for their game.

For those of you not from the last thread who don't care about internet drama:
    >Adeptus Evangelion 2.5 - DIRECTOR'S CUT EDITION; Electric 2: boogalo "UNRELEASED MIX"

For those of you not from the last thread who actually care about internet drama for some reason, here's the tl;dr:
    >be invited to be Dev for AdEva
    >get assigned to v2.5 side project
    >get 95% through it
    >suddenly canned at last second
    >BMJ shuts down dev and eventually writes the whole thing himself with special exception for one dev
    >broken and borderline unplayable but released anyways after a month or two of no testing with "beta" slapped on
    >release thread happens, dev team is blamed for problems in version
    >old 95% complete version is brought up, some anons demand to see it
    >other dev who is using it for their own game finally hands me the pretty version
    >well here it is
    >yeah I bet you were hoping for actual drama

Good to finally see this go public.

As a GM who's been running a game with this, it's definitely something you should look at and try if you're interested in adeva.

Oh trust me, I'm more than aware that the most vocal part of the fanbase is the worst. I'm betting it's the same crowd that bitches whenever Blast boots them for talking about their creepy fetishes or trolling. If there's any kind of interest I may patch up the Angelgen and send that out too, seeing as v2.5's angels have had a track record of ridiculously bad playtests where Sachiel brutally wipes an entire party and Zeruel gets kited to death for 20 turns and . . . actually I think that's all the playtesting that was done on v2.5's angels before it was released. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hahaha what? A lot of people were involved with what? BMJ assigned myself, Keene, Karada and Elpizo to work on 2.5. I put part of my work up for review and everyone agreed it looked fine. The classes were just about settled too. LDT-A complained that it wasn't the 2.5 he wanted but that was about it. Aside from a few bros like Kamen and the bunch helping out, nobody did jack shit. BMJ canned it all and did his version he said would be solo, then later told us that he let Elpizo do half of it but nobody else. Then when I told him that wasn't okay and sat down and had a discussion with him over it and he agreed to look over this version and see if we could come to a compromise, he proceeded to completely bail on it, ignore everything and release 2.5 as a "beta". >>17341506 is right. He's a grandiloquent douchebag of the highest calibre. The fact that the moment he saw me criticize 2.5 in his release thread I see MODE SET +B DIAL BY BMJ should tell you all you need to know.

I've seen the zeruel logs, it's the single worst case of players being idiots I've seen. Your entire team focuses on HUGE DAMAGE weapons when Zeruel is built entirely to COUNTER such weapons, and the ATT spends the time he could be using to cancel the ability spamming more huge damage abilities.

Yeah, I'd say the playtest worked fine.

    >>17341544
It's nearly impossible to make a perfect angelgen, but when I went through and did shitloads of heavy crunch on the classes/weapons/upgrades, a certain angel average was established. The angelgen that took conceptual shape but didn't reach paper was one that mostly dispensed with random rolls and instead used a sort of point buy system for the angel. I've also been kicking around the idea of statting up the canon angels as actually playable with a normal group each with several levels of difficulty to taste. That way each angel can be adjusted depending on if your group is new or really just likes dying.

Agreed. In hindsight I should have just finished this the moment I quit and released it before 2.5, but you know that brand loyalty. OF COURSE I DIDN'T DOWNLOAD IT OR LOOK AT IT. IT SUCKS BECAUSE BMJ SAYS SO.

    >>17341577
I wasn't involved in that playtest. I only participated in one, which was against Sachiel, and took so ridiculously long everyone fell asleep and it didn't even get halfway finished because nobody had any idea of what they were doing. I will admit playtesting is not one of dev's good qualities. I find far more rigorous results from throwing things into existing campaigns, tiny, boring, grindy circlejerks where you do the same battle over and over differently with someone equally dedicated, and using lots and lots of math hammer. Either way Zeruel is a perfect example of extremely lazy and sloppy design. Instead of making him threatening his attacks just deal auto crit damage so they're equally as lethal to a starting Eva and Adam himself. He can somehow parry with foil arms to make up for how easy his AT field is to ignore. He has stupid hard caps on anything you can do to him offensively to "prevent cheese" instead of actually putting work into an interesting and dynamic defense with some kind of weakness. He actively penalizes the use of powerful weapons and punishes players for not knowing about his special penetration related ability. The goal when building him was, I shit you not, that the players should have to use a "plot coupon" instead of taking him on in direct battle.

v3 has had some work done on it, it's entirely separate from all of this stuff going on. This isn't an official release at all.

There's no real release date or anything, we'll work on developing it and BMJ will probably update /tg/ when there's more to say on the matter. Still coming though, so don't worry.

The positron cannon is a pretty unique case. The recharge trait is desperately needed to make it like the source material (practically every weapon and upgrade was drawn from existing source material, either anima, games, or what have you, even the wacky shit like the mastema and wireless power transmitter) but the recharge quality not only makes using it boring, but cripples its effective damage per turn. The only solution is to pretty much double its damage, which results in instant crits. The end decision was to just run with it. Now an entire battle revolves around the use of it if you bring it out, much like Ramiel did in the series. It takes several turns to get into position, two turns to set it up, more turns to plug it in or start up the generators, turns to aim it, turns to apply AT powers to it, and double the usual turns if the angel dodges, you miss, or it burns fate. It's a one shot kill because you're lucky to get one shot off with it, and if the GM doesn't want you using it, he can ruin your entire plan with a single half action.

Prodigies are a bit . . . yeah, but they needed the love compared to Neospartan and Manufactured who are getting stats out the ass anyways. A lot more focus was put into AT related upgrades, AT powers, the ATT as a viable class and not a shitty ranged attacker, and AT use in combat in general. Higher SR is a gateway to playing with it. There's some neat combos in this version.

V3 is still going. I will say that it actually looked pretty decent. It's entirely homebrew, not DH, so that's why I got so buttwoundup over making 2.5 as good as possible for those DH loyalists out there as it's sort of our swan song to the Adeptus in Adeptus Evangelion. I don't know when it will come out, but look forward to it. The cynical part of me wants to say they'll fuck it up and I'll have to fix it before I can run it, but I genuinely believe they're onto something good with it.

There's also a link to a channel on Rizon there for discussion of the edition, if anyone is so interested - I figured the main group would prefer if this variant didn't have major discussions on the main AdEva channel, so set up one for it, never thinking I'd get banned just for it being released.

While the posts are randomly vanishing, lemme explain that using an old ass example of a straight up battle with a boring old Ramiel clone where the ATT went 13 rounds without firing a gun.

    >1: ATT uses ping, minds eye lets them pass awareness for scan field easily, they determine the Angel has a powerful positron beam attack
    >2: The ATT knows their barrier will be useless, so they throw up a refraction field to protect their party and begin stockpiling with AT booster
    >3: The angel misses its attack due to the penalty from refraction, the boosted ATP is spent on wrap beam to throw it back at the angel
    >4: The angel blocks it with its own barrier. Knowing it can't hit with BS so easily, it uses an auto hit area nuke.
    >5: Several plug cables are severed. The ATT spreads a bunker field and uses the Area Field power to protect his allies from further nukes.
    >6: The ATT begins pulling over extra plug cables with kinetic manipulation for everyone to plug into.
    >7: The ATT drops the refraction and begins stockpiling again, throwing a spatial funnel on the sniper to help breach using absolute tactician
    >8: The ATT catches the angel's beam with the refraction down in a krasnikov tube and portals it behind the angel's barrier to hurt it
    >9: The ATT switches to layered field and uses mind over matter and area field to replace the lost arm of the skirmisher so they can keep using their rifle
    >10: The ATT initiates a group sync and starts stockpiling.
    >11: The ATT puts all or nothing on a Solenoid Bomb to neutralize the barrier since the angel quit spamming attacks he can portal, and breaks through
    >12: The ATT keeps throwing their group ATS into the skirms restrict/spatial funnel autofire rape
    >13: The ATT uses float to reach the core and bunker fields+EM cushions it to negate the collateral damage from its explosion.

Much more interesting than the retarded blaster crap going on now.
    >12: The ATT throws in a Solenoid

This is not an 'official' Adeptus Evangelion release as far as the word can be taken. It is composed entirely of work done by
official members of the official Dev team, but is not endorsed by the intellectual property owner in any way. The work you see here is
entirely separate of that of 2.5, and was developed entirely off of the leaked Master Edition as a base. Any similarities to 2.5 are either
cases of material being taken from this scrapped edition or purely coincidental design.

"Ascended" Eva sounds interesting. We've been chopping up some of the Black Crusade revisions to make life more interesting and introduced a lot of the new-ish weapon traits (daemon weapons, as well) to represent our take on Evas. But having some stuff that ISN'T cribbed from FFG would be nice, too.

It's actually been in the works since around August - the core of Borderline is actually the 2.5 Zerker/Pointman/Skirm/WUPs as they were originally submitted, before BMJ chose to work on the project solo, so similarities are to be expected. This WAS 2.5. It was done first. To list some though:

    >Skills/XUP distribution on every class worked over to not be shit
    >far better internal class design. plenty of talents that were cut from 2.5 or made worthless.
    >Berserker stops sucking at everything but berserking and becomes a heavy hitting melee combatant with several viable "trees" including skirmzerker, frenzyserker, nat weapon zerker, all or nothing zerker, etc.
    >Skirmisher has all of its trees and specializations condensed to work with all weapons and has talents that reward flexibility and a wide arsenal, as well as active types of different attacks to use instead of passive buffs to make them more interesting to play
    >Pointman is mostly the same because it was always awesome
    >ATT actually has some shit to USE now instead of being garbage. They may look innocent, but those masteries combine to make some fearsome shit. Like orbital laser strike fearsome.
    >Retarded tech package weapon system gone. 50+ individually named, fluffed and balanced weapons drawn from NGE source that cater to all careers
    >Berserking made much more useful and elegant. No random types or charts.
    >An ASSTON of original biological upgrades and structural upgrades not present in 2.5
    >ATT powers and fundamental rework of a few AT mechanics to make them far more valuable and less clunky/broken
    >simplication of special combat stuff. Conventional forces don't require charts and charts, constructions are easy to use and dynamic, etc.
    >Surplus made into a vital currency instead of waste
    >Research actually obtainable and tier passively increases as you buy technologies
    >Operadions Director trees collapsed and given much more power over the Base/CFs to make combat more active and engaging for them
    >new talents/assets/drawbacks/etc.
    >actually spelling and grammar checked with fluff seperated from crunch and easy to read tables

Oh and add a few alterations done after to make it more true to the show. There were a shitload of really dumb things that didn't make mechanical sense to be there and directly contradicted the series. Like pilots tanging by being near an angel, reassembly from tang taking a ludicrously long time, and neither being able to generate a number as short or long as the series. Umbilical cables/support caches using the Linear Rail system mentioned and shown like they actually are in the series/rebuild, instead of having their own buildings you have the memorize and place on a map. I'd do other stuff too to make it closer to the show, like maser being laser tech because lasers are actually USED to attack angels multiple times across the canon but never a maser, but like I said, working restrictions, etc.

While it's quite possible to run WWE without any kind of supplement (as I am currently doing), some kind of resources for GMs trying to do it would be pretty cool. I've kind of had to find things out the hard way and mess around with things myself (while starting on an edition I didn't know at first and then switching to Borderline docs midgame, I'm surprised everything worked out as well as it did.)

A supplement with instructions on how to balance eva v eva fights, how to keep WWE combat interesting and varied (as opposed to just tossing evas around to beat on each other), how to do aces well, etc etc is something that would be pretty awesome.

So, it's a nice thing to have and I appreciate it. I can't really make a more informed opinion (like saying what i think I'd use from which document) without taking a lot of time to compare and contrast both, though.

IMO that's what supplements are for, but you have a point. To be fair though, it was only things that were totally unnecessary to be there anyways. Like even if you survive a plug breach you tang anyways from "exposure" to the Angel when in multiple cases the pilots get right up to them and are fine. It's basic source material and it was a mechanic that was commonly criticized and asked to be removed.

I'v always kind of found Eva vs Eva kind of intriguing. Even though the system is balanced for Eva vs angel, the one it's based off of is entirely meant for human v human encounters. After successfully wrecking my entire rank 4 party as a GM with a single rank 4 ATT NPC and a few CFs, it becomes pretty obvious there's a lot of potential there. It's a bit different challenge coming up with challenges within the rules instead of straight making them up, but pretty fun. For instance, I remember hearing that Eva vs Eva fights turned into headshot fests as the head pops like a grape on an Eva and defeats it to boot. They got to the point of considering Eva helmets even. What I used was a houserule to called shots, where instead of taking a -20 to hit a certain spot, you choose your own penalty and then can move your d100 hit result up and down their hit chart that much. Put the bits like the head at the top of the chart at like 01-10, and suddenly you need to take -90 to be absolutely guaranteed to headshot until you get sharpshooter perks. It worked wonderfully.

Yeah, I'm with you on the supplements. A WoD: Mirrors style thing would be cool, with just short little notes on conversion and a few ideas for a bunch of different concepts. I'm envisioning AFMBE kind of thing.

The PDF looks pretty solid, but are all of the bonuses to characteristics neccesary? I don't know much about DH or AdEva, but they seem generous.

I like the other options for character traits. They seem to add more depth and a lot make sense, like Neospartans being unable to order or even ask their superiors to do things.

    Is there something I'm missing?

As a longtime DH player, the stat bonuses are exceptionally sparse compared to DH. Hell, if you're crazy enough to allow Ascension (for DH), you can get you Willpower to 100.

Replacement, really. The VERY core is the same, but it's supposed to be a (mostly) standalone version, mainly missing the Angel gen (still being worked on) and the world fluff. That said, it wouldn't be hard to mix and match a few things if you like.

....Or maybe some people actually respect the wishes of the system's original creator?

AdEva has always been BMJ's project, for better or worse. He started it, he's always done the majority of the work for it, and in my opinion (and, contrary to a vocal minority, many other people's opinions) he can do whatever he wants with it. Dial and the rest who have decided to rip off his documents never seemed to understand that.

If you don't like what he does with the system, then cannibalize it and do whatever you want with it. Its homebrew, after all. But this is only adding to the retarded e-drama surrounding this whole deal, and I can't help but think that Dial is doing that on purpose...

the 2.5 released a few days ago is not the REAL 2.5, but one made by someone who went 'rogue' from the rest of the adeva devteam?

Then a REAL 2.5 will be released later
    (And 3.0 after that)

    right?

You should format the best bits of either into a collected edition, because the AdEva dev team is apparently far too childish to do that.
