    >"A mysterious stranger once sold me a magical set of armor. His price was my own flesh and blood. I graciously accepted, for I would sacrifice anything for king and country."

    >"I still remember my own horrid screams as I donned the armor, blood pooling at my feet as my flesh was consumed, and my soul bound."

You are Sir Hadrian Blackhand, all that remains of a shattered kingdom and her people. Your soul bound to a living suit of armor, and entombed in the fallen capital of your kingdom. Recently however, you have regained your freedom, and set out for find the cause of the apparent cataclysm that rocked the world while you were imprisoned.

You traveled east, only to find a blasted landscape seared by a massive fire elemental, and the sick cult that worshiped him. Dealing with that, you follwed the coast and found the city of Grandal, but the city is not without its problems, as you are soon drawn into a murder mystery that evolved into some cult worship that you swiftly deal with, in the proccess finding out some things. After the death of the watercult word had been spreading about you and your work, so you paid the king a visit. You left Drei after things finished up in the city, with an unspoken promise to return one day, and traveled to the north, where you came across a village with an unspeakable horror in it, after a troubling mental struggle, you purge the village with fire.

    Black Knight Quest! Joy!

Somehow I think that burning down the demonic village will only solve half the problem. After the fire dies down, sift through the ruins, see what we can dig up.
    >> Blackknight !EGl50Sr6go 01/29/12(Sun)19:16 No.17725939
You stand on a hill overlooking the smoldering ruin that was the town, whatever spirit that lived here fled screaming to the heavens.

Maybe now you can find out what actually happened here. Or perhaps the ruins are too firebombed for anything to have survived.

Focusing your sight once more, your vision sweeps through the blackened wreckage. What you find is even more confusing then when you first came here.

All the houses are perfectly fine, through some windows you can see things neatly layed out for a meal, and recently tended too fires. Yet once more there are no signs of the populace, there isn't even the signs of battle any more.

You notice something odd....right where you are standing leads the path of smashed buildings that you noticed from before, only they have collapsed from the heat of the fire that purged them, flames still cling to them in places.

In the center of the town you see something small and human shaped standing by the town hall. Focusing on it, and the image of the screaming face flashes through your head.

This bastardization of a wraith has had its fun long enough. First it rips open your mind and plays with your thoughts and memories, mixing possible outcomes with false truths, now it challenges you after you burn its clever trap for weary travelers to the ground. Foolishness.

Kicking Mercy into a trot, you head towards the figure. Crossing over the threshold of the town boundary, colors invert and the sky reddens. Phantoms of battles long pass rise up around you, slaughtering each other mercilessly. Raiders killing innocents, soldiers killing enemies, friends killing friends, families killing families.

However none of this bothers you as you tread unharmed through the mists of the past. You near the figure.

Its eyes seem to focus on you and at the same time close looking away from you. You find it hard to look at.

Ignoring its question, you demand your own questions to be answered, you have had enough of this.

    >"I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR GAMES. TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED HERE."

Something starts, echoing and booms out across the land. The creatures form starts shifting and shaping itself as it laughs at some unseen joke in your question.

<<FOOL! WHY DOES A FIRE PROVIDE WARMTH, YET BURN EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES? WHY DOES THE WATER GIVE LIFE, YET DROWN EVERYTHING THAT LINGERS FOR TOO LONG?>>

Its form shifts like a fabric as it extends to a humanoid shape, black flowing robes writhing with inky tendrils extend downwards as the cloaked figure stands in front of you. Exactly as he looked all those years ago.

"Wherever there is life, there is death, my dear knight. I destroy for balance, just as you do for justice. Tell me, how do you enjoy your armor?"

He laughs. "Your purpose? When you came to me all those years ago, your "purpose" was to defend your kingdom and everything you held dear!" He continues to laugh "Now that you failed once, you're going to what? Get revenge on the cause of the calamity? You came to me once telling me of your "Justice", when all you got was despair."

The mirth drops from his voice completely "You disappoint me Knight. I gave you that armor in hopes that rather than an overwhelming force crashes over a minuscule one, two equal forces would battle each other. Instead a wave of power shattered the so tender balance that had been created over the aeons, and the one chosen to stop it was stuck in a rock for a thousand years. Perhaps I made a mistake?"

    >"YOU SPEAK OF BALANCE, YET YOU SEND A TOWN INTO MADNESS AND DESTRUCTION? ON WHAT SCALE DO YOU USE TO WEIGH THE WORLD?"

A phantom smile appears where a mouth would be "These people had already delved into depravity and madness long before I came. Using the blood of wayward travelers and neighboring villagers, they sought to summon a God." He gestures to himself "I merely answered the call, and showed them what happens when they temper with the law of things."

Glaring at the Stranger, the pure malice of the being nearly spills out of you, but you hold it.

    >"I SHALL NOT DEAL WITH YOU ANY FURTHER. MY PATH IS MY OWN."

He lowers his hand and allows you to pass, and calls after you "I like what you did to the blasted lands, never knew you had a thing for magical wastelands. But I suppose you wouldn't have known what would happen to the leylines." His smile seems to burn into your mind once more.

"Farewell Knight, I would be careful of large bodies of water if I were you. Terrible things tend to lurk under surface." With that he vanishes without a trace, leaving some words in your mind "Whether or not you permit me, I'll be watching." Your armor writhes as if in response.

Your work done here, you continue to ride north, to find whatever horrors that await you.

North you travel still, passing ruins of times past, battlegrounds long forgotten, small villages whos people ran inside as soon as they saw the hooded black rider approaching. Travelers either shuffle past, or give you news and warnings of the north. It seems the death of the Fire God has been found out now, and there is chaos in places that worshiped him, however much of the north did not worship him, and are speaking of war with the weakened south. Other news is what you heard from the Stranger.

The land has narrowed considerably at this point. Nothing shields you from the ocean on either side of you. It seemingly closes in like a great beast trying to devour its prey. You reach a point where the banks are no more than a 100 meters on either side of you. There isn't much elevation, so you are almost at sea level.

The humps turn to swells as they rapidly approach the small piece of land you stand on. With a roar of noise, fingers of water explode upwards and rise up to the sky on either side of the pass. Water floods the pass, and if not for an intense flood of fire on your part, you would have been washed away.

You stand your ground, glowing crimson as your assailant fruitlessly tries to attack you, but to no avail. The torrent of water hissing into steam as it bashes against you. Soon the entity brings back its assault.

Thinking of something, you decide to do something you have yet to do since you set out once more. Focusing on a part of you very far away, you send out a message.

    >"DREI. BE CAREFUL OF MYSTERIOUS CLOAKED FIGURES SELLING MAGICAL ITEMS. DO. NOT. TRUST. HIM."

Your words are met with a shock at first, then confusion, and then a wave of relief comes through.

    >"Of course Sir Hadrian. I was wondering when I would hear from you....the city is in an uproar, some pilgrims returned from the blasted land proclaiming that the Fire God was dead, and were swiftly executed. It wasn't long before the King made a public announcement that an "Angel of the end" came to him claiming the destruction of the Firelord. But things are good, not many people seem to care in the lower city."

You tell Drei to be careful, as chaotic situations can drive men to do terrible things. She happily agrees, then goes on to do whatever it was she was doing. You take another look at the prow sticking out of the water and contemplate what to do.

Carefully, you move mercy off the land onto the water. Steam hisses off the surface, but nothing comes to assault you. Making your way over to the vessel you inspect it. What little is sticking out of the water is in fine condition, but a little water worn. A look into the surrounding water, you can make out a dark shape going down into the water, but other than that, you can't see how much else of the vessel is still intact.

Using your arcane vision, you pierce the surface of the water, getting in a good look at the ship below. The ship was nearly completely intact, save some battle damage. You see the telltale signs of the crew, a skeletal hand here, a discarded sword there. Whats strange is the holes lining the sides, as if something was supposed to go there. There are at least thirty holes in total, spanning one of the lower decks.

It appears to have been a sailing ship, as most of the mast is still intact, but the corrosive sea has eaten away at the sails.

You also notice a dead...sea monstrosity. Its brains spilling out into the water do to a very quick pressure change.

The holes are probably for cannon or oars, lets get on the ship, look real close, the sea monstrosity is dead due to explosive decompression. You need 8 or so atmospheres of difference to get actual serious everything exploding given that it's just the head and it's non human composition it could be as low as 5 atmospheres so it got quickly taken up from 50-80 meters below the surface and exploded. Is the creature attached to the ship in some way or is the method that got the creature up here still unknown. Get closer, keep our eyes open and start eating the beastie.

Dismounting Mercy, you fall into the cold dark abyss. Bubbles fly up at first, obscuring your vision at first, once it clears you are greeted with the open maw of a creature that has not seen the light of day in its entire existence. Shuddering, you go to work consuming it, drawing in its power and adding it to your own.

Its not quite the same feeling as before, as you doubt this being had any sort of soul that would demand another chance at something, or to escape some horror. But you do feel something.

The man obviously the captain strides about, shouting words you cannot hear, to ears that will never listen to his orders. Not because they do not want too, the rate at which they work is frantic, they live the ship much like the captain. Its just death had deadened their senses, they have no idea what they are doing anymore.

Nodding, you grip onto the side of the vessel, and forcing your will inwards, begin to pull it into yourself. The captain is startled at first, but soon understands what you are doing. It takes a long moment for the ship to fully pass through the event horizon of yourself. The captain stands on the edge right as its about to go in and strikes a rather embarrassing extravagant pose. Then the ship is gone.

You feel, immense pressure in you, filling you with everything you need to make something. You understand now what this feeling truly is. You have the power to take death and turn it into life. Images of the final battle flash through your head, great tendrils of water reaching up to the sky then slamming down on the ship, the cannons blazing and captain shouting.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rating_system_of_the_Royal_Navy#cite_ref-1

The rating system is about how many guns/deck/crew a ship has. This ship only has a single deck of guns, and around 30 or so gun ports, so it has to be a frigate, which is either a 6th rate or a 5th rate.

The pressure builds until it is unbearable, but you hold on, forming and shaping the ship to your liking, the captain guiding you on what to do. Forty guns, twenty on either side, strong sails to catch the wind and guide you to where you need to go, and a crew and a captain.

Its almost too much now, but a "ready" from the captain, and you aim where you will dump your load. Right up at the surface. You start forcing the souls you just consumed to their assigned tasks, readying the payload. Finally with a bubbling roar, a pointed black metal prow bursts from your chest, roaring with pain, you force the remainder of the vessel from you, and the black ship explodes from you with a force that sends it straight to the surface. The Captain stands atop the mast laughing as his ship is given new life and he can once more sail the seas.

The water swelled at exploded the glistening black ship, as a started Mercy shook his head, and took some steps backwards. You managed to grab a hold of one of the nets going down the side, as it flew to the surface, and climb aboard you new vessel.

Black armored men go about their business as the captain comes to greet you. He has much of the same he was wearing before, except it is now all black fabric, and the plate armor is visible from underneath his clothes. Atop his masked face, he has an extravagant hat, with a white feather in it.

"Welcome aboard sir, what is our heading?"

I wonder what a ship with control over heat and ice can do that a normal ship could not? Other than, of course, going through cold climates with ease. Could a cold and warm front be created behind the sails to produce wind in any manner?
