You decide to just start scaning the globe for the incident. In the meantime, you check up on Formless, Ius, and Ius' angels.

Formless Is watching a group of drakfey who seem to be preparing for battle.

Ius is invisibly stalking some human in a human village right now.

And Ius' angels are all over the place, but none seem to be near any recent sites of violence.

hmm... not as epic as the formless is generally looking for, but he's testing the boundaries of the forms of magic that are avaliable. Not in a subtle way, however. It seems that we could take a note from his book, and start guiding events more directly ourselves.

Then again, It is against our watch and preserve portfolio. After this conflict resolves, I want to know what is happening with the fey by the Obsidian Tower, but their own hubris will have probably caused them to wander off again.

I propose that yes, we stay and watch, but afterwards we have ourselves a talk with Formless and try to put a few ideas in his mind that rather than creating conflict for the sake of conflict alone, which is meaningless, he should consider setting some kind of end goal that the conflict is meant to achieve.

We should also propose the idea that he wants to see the mortals advance to their maximum potential for the sake of epicness, while we desire much of the same end. We could possibly make Formless an unlikely ally of ours, using conflict to drive the mortals toward realizing their potential.

After all, isn't it true that mortals fight harder and more fiercely when they have a cause to fight for? And isn't it true that it is usually during times of war when they advance the fastest, scientifically and technologically?

Hm, a list of possible weaknesses for the drakfey:

-They are weakened by deprivation of physical needs such as food and water.
-Though they can regenerate from even mortal wounds, doing so requires time
    -Make them sterile
-Make it so that killing any individual drakfey, also causes every single one of its descendants to die immediately.

One or all of these, along with other weaknesses, must be added here.

Also, we've discussed getting Ius over here to help sort this out. But how about Picus? He seems to understand that adversity is necessary to prevent imbalance, and he clearly has no great love for the drakfey since they're ripoffs of his dragons. We could consider getting him to back us up. I mean, even the dragons aren't as literally unkillable as the drakfey are at this moment.

Instead their numbers will be reduced each year until there are none.
The better solution is to take away their immortality.

    Quickly follow after Formless.

Make him understand that these actions are in fact for the benefit of the drakfey.

A race that does not fear death, has no necessity of growth. Such are the angels, demons, elementals, and abominations. Mortals are different. Because they are capable of death, they do as much as possible in the time allotted to them.

The threat of their own mortality, causes them to aspire to ever greater heights. Is that not what you desire, Formless One? To see the mortals reach their greatest potential? To create epicness?

Seconding this. By giving them mortality, we'll make them fight even harder, their victories will be even more spectacular.

I say we check on our Lich, see if he decided to move his ass of the mountain.
I see no reason to observe the battle, but would like to know the outcome.
Following this, a time skip might be prudent unless something to garb our attention comes up.

I think the darkfey were dealt with correctly. Having a race that actively attacks the other races and is immortal in battle is just not right.

    You approach Formless again.

"A race that does not fear death, has no necessity of growth. Such are the angels, demons, elementals, and abominations. Mortals are different. Because they are capable of death, they do as much as possible in the time allotted to them.

He responds, "I guess. It just seems so pointless. I will groom them to be awesome leaders or epic heros then they die. You may think its strange that a god is having a 'existential crisis' but I want to live vicariously through them you know? I mean, isn't that what this is all about?"

Without the noko. I believe you though, there's no real way to cheat the dice, even if they're invisible.

    A hundred d1s display 1+1+1+1+1..., for example.

We like to see mortals rise up to the challenges we set before them, we like to see them succeed and better themselves, and surprise us occasionally with what they achieve. We could simply make them the best already, but as they say, it's more about the journey than the destination."

He seems to want to think about this for a while. So you leave him.

[Gonna have to sign off for tonight, someone archive this. If the thread is still alive tomorrow around 4 I'll bump it up, if not expect a new thread.]

Weren't we going to have champions like Ur for each of the gods?

Tell Formless that you have plans for the future that will likely allow him to achieve what he wishes and that you will see him again once you have it all set up, then wait for one of the drakfey to die. Shouldn't take long seeing how they're constant fighting with each other.

Yes, however, rolling 100 that way is MORE unlikely. You don't get anything from it. All you get is a big chance of revealing your cheating, along with worse odds of getting what you want.

Mostly because it's keeping a thread in which no interesting discussion is occurring on the front page. It's a bit impolite, though nothing that most people will be terribly upset about. Beyond that, it's wasting time which you could be spending doing something you actually enjoy. I assume, of course, that you don't enjoy bumping random threads in which nothing interesting is happening. I could be wrong, of course - random bumping could be your hobby. Make sense?
