    54 KB Civ Thread #2 Voice of Reason-ish !fTZ7nIUxd2 02/16/12(Thu)04:19 No.17973055
Nearly a year has passed since the banishment of your people. You have survived and thrived, far from the corrupt rule of Zetharn, your home city. Since you confrontation with the Stout-Ones your people have learned a great many things.
With the first contact with the Dwarves, Horned Lizard has opened a gateway of Technology and knowledge. From the Dwarves The Reverent Brood have learned the ways of Iron. While unable to mold the substance yourself, the dwarves are proficient, providing any weaponry you request or need. In return they only asked for a share of your food, with your surplus of fish, this was not a problem. And your protection, if the need shant arise, the dwarves not being the most skilled of fighters.

Your people are now equipped with iron weaponry and technology. Your tribe has been cutting trees, with your iron axes, near the mountain for months. This lumber has provided you with the materials need to put more research into your rafts. You now have fishing boats. You have also been using vines weaved together from the forest for nets.

After long last you have discovered what happened to Swimmer-of-Lake. He was not eaten by some horrific monster. He had swam out, found an island, and was killed by an indigenous creature from said island.
    >> Voice of Reason-ish !fTZ7nIUxd2 02/16/12(Thu)04:20 No.17973059
    Cont.
A shrine for He Who Thirsts has been erected in you village, which has expanded greatly. The shrine has two parts.
The first being the actual shrine, where the blood offerings are made and your sacred weaponry is displayed. Your people have long since been using the advice of the dwarves to construct your homes and Shrines. The shrine is underground supported by Stone arches and reinforced with lumber. With He Who Thirst Holy Symbol, the bloodied spear, prominently displayed under the blare of torches. The glory of all battles are recorded on the Stone Arches.
The Second part, which is above ground, is the training arena. This is where your kinfolk hone their fighting skills in His name. The excel in the use of spear and claw, not needing the armor as the smooth skinned races do. That said, your people are still adept at the use of bow and arrow.

The Feathered Snake has her temple erected in the Mountains, and even has many Dwarven Followers. It consists of a large Dwarven constructed cave, with natural pillars. The Image of the Goddess, a giant serpent consuming an egg, has been carved from stone in the middle of the temple.

The fighting skills of your tribe have greatly increased, and with prayer to The All Father, your Council have learned the way of advance tactics, and sword play. This has come in quite handy, for many skirmishes with Humans have happened in the Western Mt. Range as of Late. No information on their strong hold.
Your people have stayed away from the Western Forest, many say it’s cursed. Giving it the name “The Forest of Moans”

The dwarves have become great friends to the Reverent Brood, however like all things I do not believe we should become dependent solely on their creations.

Let us improve our technology and learn the ways from which our dwarven friends forge these amazing iron weapons.

I dreamed of fire again. This was not the fire that burns outside but the heat that we need to fill us. In this dream, I saw the arrogant Draypon and the foolish smooth skins, and I saw the fire in their blood. I saw how they abused this heat, how their arrogant minds took this gift from He Who Thirsts and turned into their foul little magics.

He Who Thirsts’s cunning and the Feathered Serpent’s wisdom made us better—purer even. We walk a path of humility where we prostrate before our parents gifts and let the heat enter us. We will not be tempted to abuse our wise and cunning parent’s gifts. For blood is power, and our power remains pure. We will remain reverent!
(Just a little fluff to explain why we can’t use magic.)

I go for C1. We can’t allow humanity to hide in the mountains and harass us at their leisure.

The wisdom you speak with, on behalf of the Feathered Serpent, our feared mother, inspires me. For the plants our like us, in a manner. They too bloom in the heat. So it must be that their juices are like our blood and hold that heat. While they might not be enough satiate our great father's thirst, clearly they can be used to sate our own.

Collecting them is perhaps a sacred rite forgotten over time, a rite clearly reserved for the females of our tribe. So they could be gathered, bleed of their juices which hold the heat of our revered parents, and then stored on sacred ground. During great festivals, we can drink this blessed liquids and take their heat into our bodies.

But these are matters of the Old Ways, and I overstep my bounds.

You see too much mysticism in the everyday Dreamer.

The legends and tales, while true, are used today to guide us.
Fighting is something that please He Who Thirsts, but we do not fight out of piety.

Similarly, if the lizardwomen's tales speak of Feathered Serpent prizing berries, it does not mean that the gathering of them is a ritual, merely that we can consume them today, as she and hers consumed them in the past.

After such a disastrous loss of our scouting party I think it is time burrow into defense! (Improve: 3)

In fact, I believe in these times it is vital that we create a monumental tower to show to the races of this world for all time that these lands belong to the Reverent!

I propose we recruit our dwarven allies to construct a massive tower at our shrine the the mother goddess, a beacon to assert our authority on the land. A tower so grand that human and lizard will look upon it and fear what they must face.

It would require the entire tribe and our dwarf friends, but it will be a Wonder that will stand the test of time. Does any hold support of this idea!?

Instead of using the same nets as those used for fishing, we could use stronger ones, mayhap ones made of fine wire, which would not only prove a stronger material, but would cause said captives greater discomfort. Barbing said wire would work wonders, as well, if we have the resources for either.

Wow. That's one way to put it.

The sun begins rise as your enemy makes it's hasty retreat east. That is when the Arks of flames envelope them. From your very palms come the streams of Fire. Very few escape the gruesome fiery death. Those that do, are quickly captured.

There are no remains of the one caught in your destruction.

The Battle has been won, with minimal casualties on your side, and maximum on your enemies. The All Father Smiles upon your tribe this day.

After a much needed pilgrimage to rest and hone my fighting skills, I return to the village, eager to see what my kinsmen had accomplished in the time I was gone. Most things have pleased me greatly, but the attack on the human encampment in the mountains, I would say was a disgrace.

It seems as if the dwarves are our allies now. Dwarves are great at digging tunnels. Although it may have stalled the assault a bit, we should have had a tunnel strike route dug into the humans camp. If we would have appeared from the ground, in the middle of their encampment, I believe we would have had greater success.

Just my two cents, but in the mean time, I welcome all the new faces to the council. By the way, have we decided on a name for our tribe yet? I was looking over council notes, and did not find one.

I'll give you a quick run down.

We were expelled from our nation due to revolution.

We slowly created a new city and explored our surrounding areas.

Due to our mother goddess, the Feathered Snake, we were blessed with lizardfolk, the Night Scales, that have dark scales and dark vision. He Who Thirst is our father god, who likes battles.

Using these new warriors, we have struck down the pink skins (the humans). Upon our success with this, we have allied ourselves with the dwarves.

Some other group of lizardfolk are in the area, which we also dispatched due to superior army.
