    "Disappointment?"

"Yeah, disappointment. If you just end up shot up or ripped up, I'll have to just lie my way out of invovement, and it will be very disappointing." Sarna glares.

"So I'd better not die, then?"

"No, it would be wise to avoid death."

    "Right." You nod.

"Anyways, whelp, how do you plan on cooperating with me?" She folds her arms and raises an eyebrow.

Well you hadn't exactly thought about that...

She certainly has proven she can hold her own in combat, though it was against you, and it was pretty one-sided.

At the same time, you aren't really sure you want her following you around, and you know Kiara doesn't. So she might make a good spy or informant.

    >The choice is yours, how do you want to employ Sarna?

Spy sounds like the way to go. She's got our internet handle and we can leave her a couple of the burner phones for emergencies.

We need more info on the Order's witch tracking techniques.

Top immediate priorities are get the fuck up out of this place because we both just magic'd everywhere and people noticed, and then give Kiara a chance to feed.

Well first things first, we need to recharge Kiara.

"Well I'm not quite sure how you can fit into this plan just yet, you certainly have some oomph behind you, but you would also make a great spy. For now, lets bug out of here, though."

    "Fair enough." Sarna nods.

"Great, this way!" You make a start for your car, Sarna in tow.

Only you stop, just shy of it, near the forest.

"I'll just be a minute..." You tell her, and she raises an eyebrow again as she watches you slink off into the woods.

Once out of sight, you sit down on the forest floor, and instantly the plants around you begin to change. Green fades, replaced by brown as the wave of death emanates from you, shriveling leaves and small plants alike.

This one spreads even further then the last one Kiara made, which you surmise must be because of how much power she expended to give your punch the extra boost it needed to knock Sarna off her feet.

"I don't want her following us around, mortal. She may not be an amateur, but we certainly aren't going to obtain my soul through combat alone." Kiara says, invigorated by the "meal".

"I agree, I think she would make a great spy, though. Not to mention I want to know what she knows before we do anything."

Standing back up, you make your way out back through the forest and into the parking lot. Sarna is sitting on the top of your car, idly swinging her feet back and forth.

"Took you long enough!" She frowns, before leaping off the car and landing beside you.

"So what now?" She asks, folding her arms.

"Now we find some place we can talk, some place quiet. Know of anything around here?"

The 300+ year old "little girl" smirks and nods.

"Yeah, I know a great spot. Gimme the keys." She holds out a hand.

    "Haha, no."

While the idea of a little girl powershifting a Hemi is immensely amusing...no. It'd draw attention. And that car is practically all we own that's "ours". We didn't kill anyone for it, nor did we ask for blood money for it.

She can stand to rest a bit stretching her legs after that fight, anyways. Tell her to think of us as a "chauffeur".

Cruising down the night highway, you keep it pegged at the speed limit exactly. You've drawn enough attention to yourself tonight, no need to stir up any more.

Sarna directs you through a bit of the city, until you reach the slums. All the way to a long-abandoned factory of some kind, which Sarna enters as though she's been to before, many times.

"This place is safe, I've used before, to store things." Sarna says, before quickly picking through a series of locks around a set of steel doors in the floor.

"Down here!" She calls up to you.

"Is it safe?" You mentally ask Kiara.

"I believe so, but I sense a great deal of magic down there..."

    "Hurry up!" Sarna calls again.

You quickly descend the small flight of concrete stairs, and stop abruptly at what you see. Lining the walls, stacked up on the floor, is an assortment of incredibly bizarre things.

Chunks of mud brick and stone wall, or what you assume was once wall. All manor of jewelry, some even made of gold. A few swords, most of which look quite ragged...

"Lots of stuff down here..." You comment.

"The Order would have had me destroy it all, this is just the stuff I managed to sneak to here, from the local area. Artifacts, most of them aren't very old, or very powerful." Sarna shrugs as she toys with a small dagger.

"So what do you need to know? I'm surprised you're asking for information, seems you've lived quite a while to not know a lot." She eyes you questioningly.

God I'd love to see a 13 yr old girl outdrive us from years of experience! If she's lived 300+years her parents are long gone so she must live alone... Or in some Order shithole they provide for her. Once on the road ask her how she has survived all this time in that young of a body. Not every day you see a 13 yr old ordering at a steak house without a parent, and McDonalds sucks after just a few days of eating there

"Well for starters, what is it that you do for the Order, exactly." You ask, reaching out to touch the pommel of a sword.

"I wouldn't do that, if I were you. That one has a nasty curse on it."

You quickly draw your hand back.

"I suppose you could call me a hit man, it would be a fitting title." Sarna says quietly as she sets aside the dagger. "The Order has some excellent and capable hunters of their own, but sometimes its easier for them to call in a witch to do the dirty work for them."

"You mean there are more like you?" You ask, a bit shocked.

"Dozens more, at least that I know of. I know I'm not even the most powerful. I've seen another, a younger man then you by a bit... He's the most powerful wizard I've ever seen." Sarna shrugs before picking up a small wooden horse toy.

"So do you operate under a handler of some kind?"

"I'm not sure." Sarna shrugs, "I get a call on my cell and they tell me where to go and what to do. That wasn't even me talking to you over the email, that was THEM."

    "Oh...."

    "Yep."

"Well I guess I need to be more careful... How do they track witches anyways? I know they can track magic, but how?"

"Any number of ways, they don't limit themselves to just one. You have a cell phone, yes?"

"Yeah..." You reply, suddenly wondering if you should burn the lot of them.

"The towers they run off of aren't just used for that purpose. They were also constructed to pick up on magic use within their range, to track the users or anything with even a whiff of magic power. Any time magic is used within the radius of a tower, it acts like a beacon, sort of like a blip on a radar."

"So they can use cell towers to... Track magic?"

"Just one of their methods, yes."

"I'm assuming they have more then just that..."

"They do." Sarna nods, "In fact, one of the best tracking systems in the world is a witch's soul itself. I know for a long time the tracking stations were large, imposing structures with limited range considering their size... Now, though, they have portable units."

You frown as you remember the small metallic box.

    "I think I've seen one."

"Small metal box, 'bout yea big?" Sarna holds up her hands.

    "Yeah."

"That would be one, and those little units are their most precise tracking devices. Can pinpoint a witch from a mile or more off, depending on the current level of magic being used. From two hundred yards, they can just pick up on the slight magic a witch gives off regardless if she's using any power at the moment."

"How do you know all of this?"

"Who do you think they tested them on?" Sarna sighs.

"So they can contain a witch's soul inside one of those little platinum boxes?"

"Well, they are more complicated then that, but yes. The soul has to be a weak one for them to use in one of those; though, mostly small children, infants." Sarna's face darkens and she sets aside the wooden toy.

    "So not a powerful soul?"

"No, they wouldn't hold up to the corrosion of a more powerful soul. As is they only last a year or so tops. Nowadays the Order isn't exactly starved of a supply of young souls, though."

also about that VN, do you have an artist working with you or do you everything yourself? if you don't you should look into getting some, since you don't seem the be that good of a painter as the story deserves, if you don't mind me being so blunt. "Can they use souls for anything else, other then tracking?"

"Well, not from what I've seen. I've heard some of the higher echelons of hunters can use them like a magic weapon of some sort, but that's complete scuttlebutt and I've never verified it." Sarna shrugs.

"So how about containment for larger souls, stronger ones?"

"Like mine or yours? One of those little boxes wouldn't last a day. You've heard of three mile island, yes?"

    "The blown out plant?"

"The one no one wants to go to, yes. Makes a convenient place to store a lot of souls somewhere out of the way. That's just one facility I know of. The other is out in New Mexico." Sarna absently flips a pocket watch open and shut as she watches you.

    "...Area fifty one?"

"Didja think it was aliens?" Sarna smirks.

    "How about Chernobyl?" You ask.

"Interesting that you know about that... While I can't tell you for certain what's there, I can say that whatever it is, its powerful enough that the Order has an elite guard unit on it at all times."

Your brow raises in surprise, this more or less confirms that there is something in reactor 4. Something big.

"You're sure this place is safe..." You ask, suddenly feeling like you're out in the open and completely naked.

"A tinfoil hat eh? Geeze big bro, you're different from who I thought you were..."

"No, neither would do you any good. Magic isn't just in your head, its everywhere inside of you. I guess a full body suit might do something, maybe, but it would also hamper your power somewhat. I've never heard of it being done, to be honest. It wouldn't be too effective against a soul-tracker either, those little boxes. They can pick up on the slightest magical radiation."

"Platinum everything. Bullets, swords, grenades..." She ticks off her fingers, "Tank armor, body armor..."

"Holy fuck, how do they get that much platinum?"

"They've owned most of the world's stock forever now, and most of the mines. I'd say that they have probably ten times the civilian stock of platinum, maybe more."

"Only place I know that has just one soul is the Hoover Dam. I don't know who's it is, either, but I know its not incredibly powerful, hence why there can be people around it. I'm sure there are a lot of places you wouldn't expect to find one."

Sarna perks up at the names.

"Whoa!? Where did you hear about them?! Yeah they mean a lot to me, not every day you hear about the very lady the Order was created to destroy, after all."

"So she would be a powerful ally?" You press.

"Well yeah, I mean sure! But you aren't likely going to find her anytime soon, I'm sure the Order did one hell of a job sealing her away after rending her. I've heard it took a year just to separate her mind and soul..."

"A year and a half." Kiara sighs, clearly not enthralled by the memory.

"So any idea where her pieces might be?" You ask Sarna.

    Sarna frowns, before shrugging.

"Sure its possible, I guess? I've never gone looking for her, she was powerful and great but she never did get along too well with most witches, from what I read. As for the elite guard, they certainly have to be guarding something important, but I don't have any idea as to what."

"That's because most witches are insufferable little brats with a superiority complex." Kiara snorts.

"Sounds like someone I know." You say mentally.

"So what does the Order get out of all this? Capturing witches and rending them? Wouldn't it be easier to let their souls just die off?"

"I dunno, I'd always assumed it was mostly just religion that drove them. As for the storage of souls, why do you think they do it? A soul in captivity, cut off from the magic around them, is like a candle in an airtight room. It can only burn for as long as it has oxygen, after that..." Sarna closes her hand shut.

"You're saying that the souls can die in captivity?"

"Good to know... Well anyways Sarna, I think you'd make a better spy then you would anything else right now. It would really help to have someone on the inside, let me know if I've got too much heat on me, that sort of thing."

"So get this, you know cell towers, right?"

    "Yeah man, yeah."

"They use them to track witches, they can pick up on magic radiation."

The line is silent for several seconds.

"Hooo-lllyyyy-fuuucck man! I knew there were more to those towers then their cancer waves man! Fuck! Everything is lies, man, all of it!"

"Yeah, but you are going to need more than just a foil or lead hat. From what I've found out, it would have to be more like a suit or something to block off their ability to track magic."

"A suit, man? Shit, I've got to run to the store for supplies. I don't have any magic, but I bet it would work better to block mind waves too..." You hear stuff being shuffled around in the background, and what sounds like aluminum foil being drawn out.

"Sure seems like it. Now get this. FEMA is in on all of it. The camps, area 51, all of it is related. Not only that, but apparently the Order has most of the world leaders in its pocket."

You preemptively hold the phone away from your face a bit.

"I KNEW IT! I FUCKING KNEW IT MAN! This whole time, I just KNEW that FEMA would have been in on this! And shit, man! They own the governments?! Well I guess I already figured that... BUT STILL!!!"

"Shit yeah, man, lots! So get this, apparently there was a group of scientists dedicated to just some bizarre experiments shit in the Soviet Union right? You ever hear about Dyatlov pass?"

    "No." You admit.

"Well to keep it brief, I'm pretty sure the Soviets used some kind of magic to kill a group of skiers there. I figure they wanted to test it on something living, man. Not only that, but I've found a few names, the same names of some of the dudes that worked on reactor four, man!"

"So you think that reactor four and magic are somehow related?"

"Think? Nah man, I've pretty much found it out. Something big went down there, something huge. The Soviets were after something man, or maybe the Order was using them, but they were after something. I don't know what, man, but whatever it is, reactor four is the key!"

    >The Dyatlov Pass incident refers to an event that resulted in the deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains on the night of February 2, 1959.

    >Soviet investigators determined only that "a compelling unknown force" had caused the deaths. Access to the area was barred for skiers and other adventurers for three years after the incident.

    >Investigators at the time determined that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot into heavy snow and a temperature of −30°C. Though the corpses showed no signs of struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue. Their clothing, when tested, was found to be highly radioactive.

    >12 year-old Yury Kuntsevich, who would later become head of the Yekaterinburg-based Dyatlov Foundation (see below), attended five of the hikers' funerals and recalls their skin had a "deep brown tan".

    >Another group of hikers (about 50 kilometers south of the incident) reported that they saw strange orange spheres in the night sky to the north (likely in the direction of Kholat Syakhl) on the night of the incident. Similar "spheres" were observed in Ivdel and adjacent areas continually during the period of February to March 1959, by various independent witnesses (including the meteorology service and the military).

    >Some reports suggest that there was a lot of scrap metal in the area, leading to speculation that the military had utilized the area secretly and might be engaged in a cover-up.

    >The victims had died 6 to 8 hours after their last meal.

    >Traces from the camp showed that all group members left the camp of their own accord, on foot.

    >To dispel the theory of an attack by the indigenous Mansi people, Dr. Boris Vozrozhdenny stated that the fatal injuries of the three bodies could not have been caused by another human being, "because the force of the blows had been too strong and no soft tissue had been damaged".

    >The inquest ceased officially in May 1959 due to the "absence of a guilty party". The files were sent to a secret archive, and the photocopies of the case became available only in the 1990s, with some parts missing.

"I think we're going to have to rough it out for tonight, I don't want to get my dad any more involved then he already is." You tell Kiara as you scan the area around you.

You hear the witch sigh, as though just giving in.

After an hour of driving through very shady neighborhoods, you end up feeling too uncomfortable just to park your car and expect it to be there intact when you wake up.

Instead, you happen upon a rather new and stout parking garage. Not only that, but it's automated, no worker interaction required.

Parking the 'cuda and slapping a few bills into the machine, you put the "PAID" sticker inside the window and head out in search for a bathroom.

Which you find, and technically must admit that yes, it is a bathroom.

"But not much of one..." Kiara laments, "You smell again, must have been from biting the asphalt all those times."

"Not like you were much help until that last punch. Couldn't have magic'd her around at all?"

    "..." Kiara ignores your taunt.

After doing your best to wash up in the sink, you make another mental note to grab some fresh clothes. Yours are dirty, stinky, and now quite a bit MORE ragged.

Walking back to your car, you pause at the door.

"I'm not going to... Wind up inside your dreams again, am I?"

"It depends, I think I sealed the leak so you won't inadvertently seep into them again. Why? Don't want to see them again?"

"Its not that, but I'd rather not see anything you didn't want me to see, I think." You frown, but open the door and slide in before reclining the seat.

Even the tables, we saw what she isn't proud of we're going to pay it back in kind no matter how much it hurts. Dream of our early childhood days, barely noticing our Dad's illicit activities, only seeing him as an awesome dad and the warmth of our mothers embrace.

Move on to when we got an inkling of knowing what he did but we weren't really involved.

Then the heavy stuff, us getting trained in the family business, learning the trade, our Mother dying and us executing the traitor. I don't remember which one was first. Then how we left that life.

"Where are we, mortal?" Kiara asks, "Also, I swear...."

You're headed to a dark place, so you had to give yourself a bit of fun first. Kiara is glaring daggers at you, dressed in a frilly victorian maid style outfit. She wings the feather duster at your head, which you dodge.

"Sorry, sorry..." You smirk, before seeing her again in her jeans that she wore last night.

"LAST!" Your dad calls, beating his fist against the bathroom door of the small dock area you're standing in.

"I'll be out in a minute!" You hear yourself shout back.

Stepping through the bathroom wall is as easy as walking through air, and there your dreamself is. Fifteen, shaggy hair and beard, tattered skater clothes.

Kiara watches silently as the young you puts his head back down and snorts, drawing up a line of the fine white powder. He shakes his head, rubbing at his nose, before opening the door and walking out.

"Took you long enough. Bad burrito?" Your dad laughs.

"He knew." You tell Kiara as you watch, "He just didn't want to see."

The pair, father and son, walk toward the end of a long wooden dock. Its night time, on some far stretch of beach, no one around save some of your dad's men.

...And the man they currently have tied up, black bag over his head.

The bag your father rips off harshly.

"Please..." The man pleads, "Please sir, I have kids, I swear I'll..."

Your dad cuts him off with a backhand to the face.

    "Well that's easy."

A second later, the muzzle presses against the man's head.

    Gunshot.

The corpse falls back, blood spraying from what little remains of the head. Brains scatter across the dock, skull fragments bouncing against the wood.

"Seems like you've changed quite a lot." Kiara says quietly.

"Torch this place, my son and I are going to go some place for some good chow!" Your father orders, before taking young-you around the shoulders. His face is one of a proud father, young-you, of a son glad to please his father.

"I have, and I think you did as well." You reply to her.

"You want to see it?" You ask.

"I'll leave that up to you, mortal." Kiara says quietly.

You close your eyes, and when you open them again...

The nice restaurant is in view, the place you and your family always liked to eat at. You see all three cars lined up next to each other, right in front of the place.

Your dad's vintage Rolls, your own 911, your mother's Mercedes.

Though you know exactly what happens, precisely how it all goes down, it doesn't make this any easier.

"She was heading out first, wanted to watch a movie at home, she was tired from playing golf." You tell Kiara as both of you watch.

"Dad and I were going to stick around, have a few drinks, talk business with some of the guys..." You notice Marco in the window laughing alongside your father and younger-you.

    "Are you sure?" Kiara asks.

"I need to remind myself of why I ran."

The sound of the car starting is heard for only a moment. A solitary second before the world you knew changed abruptly, that quiet world where you thought you were safe behind your dad's tough guys.

The explosion wasn't particularly large, it didn't have to be to do the job. The fireball is just enough to consume the front half of the car whole. Enough to make sure no one inside would walk away. They had pulled your mother out in pieces. Charred, black pieces.

"Lets... Wake up." Kiara says, with a small grip on your sleeve.

You open your eyes, once again staring up at the interior of your 'cuda.

After driving around for an hour, you finally spot a place that will carry what you need. You hope.

"So do I, I'd rather not waste more time."

"This is hardly a waste of time, if it works then we won't be traceable anymore."

Pulling in to the small welding and metal shop, you park outside and enter.

A cue-ball headed man with a long black beard looks up from a motorcycle magazine long enough to grunt before looking back down.

"Hey, you guys sell aluminum latices by any chance?"

He sets down the magazine and looks up, eyebrow raised.

    "Aluminum what now?"

"Grids. Criss-cross metal, you know." You try to demonstrate with your fingers.

"Well sure, I guess." He hauls his fat ass out of the small chair and waddles out a door with a "follow me".

You follow him out back and select a few large pieces. The way you figure it, you can just bend them into shape inside the car.

...Which proves easier thought then done.

"God damn it, FUCK!" You exclaim as the metal refuses to bend like you want it to.

    "Kiara!"

Can Kiara use the pre-flayed soul of another witch in any way?

You look around the interior. It seems pretty solid work, for you. The way you constructed it makes it simple to remove to make it less obvious, but for now you are going to keep it all up, save the side and front windows, just enough to keep it legal.

Pulling out one of your cell phones, you give it a look and notice it has no signal. Even when you try to give it a shot, it refuses to connect. Good, hopefully that means it will contain all of Kiara's magical radiation.

"Feel any different? Can you read minds from in here?"

"I still can, this isn't platinum you know. Hopefully it will just contain my errant radiation."

"Yeah, hopefully." You agree before heading back onto the highway.

"So now what?" Kiara asks after several miles.

"What now? Shit, I hoped you knew." You shrug.

"I say we head to the Ukraine, it seems like our best lead so far."

"Yeah, and our most dangerous. An elite guard around the plant, guarding it? How do you expect us to get through that?"

    "We... Improvise?"

"Oh yeah, now THAT'S a solid plan." You grumble. Still, she has a point. Chernobyl is your strongest lead thus far, though there are others. You could certainly go take a crack at three mile, the hoover dam, area 51...

Whatever you decide to do, you are going to need a good plan going into it.

Those places are serious Sword locations. They will be large facilities, complete with training, security, and command forces.

We aren't going to walk in there and say we got lost.

If we want in, we're going to need to pull some Mission Impossible shit. Shut down power grids, stage a distraction, infiltrate past an unknown number of guards and enslaved witches, ALL of whom can sense us and outfight us and know weaknesses that we don't know we have. All for a possible lead on a possible witch soul that we can't be sure is even Kiara's.

In short, we are not prepared to pull this off.

What we should do is find some Sword base of lesser importance and infiltrate and steal as much information as we can. Locations, names, floor plans, the works. Then we can get to planning.

    Float the idea to dad.
I am in favor of taking a ship. Cheap berth on a container ship means floating over in a somewhat-shielding metal box.

Side note: shipping the cuda with us is possible in theory, but would be pricy. pops could help with that too.

Just mentioning that for the sake of mentioning it. buying a cheap ukrainian pickup on arrival would be more sane.

You pull off into a McDonald parking lot so you can use the cellphone. It won't work with your faraday cage up, after all.

"I hate to do this, but..."

You punch in the number for your dad, sigh, and hold it up to your face. Shit is this going to be fun.

    "Hey dad..."

"Hiya son! Whats new with you? Score any good deals recently? Well I suppose you'd rather not talk about that over the phone..." Your dad laughs.

    "No nothing like that."

"Well its pretty unusual for you to call me out of the blue. You need more cash? Those crosses would easily cover that ten, though."

"Its not about money, dad. And don't sell those crosses, not yet. I'd rather pay you back in cash."

"Well, alright." Your dad shrugs as he pours himself a drink. You hope it isn't booze, it isn't even noon yet.

"So what is it that you need? More guns?"

"No, well, maybe. I need to get to the Ukraine."

    "We're Russian not Ukrainian."

    "Yeah I know."

"So take a plane? You aren't on the no-fly list, are ya son?"

"I need to get there... Under the radar, dad..."

You hear a glass clink as your father sets it down.

"Now just why in the hell do you need to do that?"

Diego is the guy we want pulling up in a smoking jeep stolen from the guards just in time to rescue us on the way out, not the guy who gets shot halfway into the sequence as a poignant touching moment about memories and loss where he reveals that it was his bomb that killed mom and it was an accident and he only wishes for forgiveness and then dies.

    rolled 2 = 2

"Well I know Diego would bitch up a storm if he had to stay on the ground the whole time, I know he prefers to fly."

"That I do, kid. Got the bird rigged up with a halfway decent drone package as well, if I need to get my boots on the ground."

    "Diego!"

"I don't know what you've gotten me into, but I hope I have enough ammo for it." The aging soldier laughs, but just once.

He doesn't sound too stressed, maybe its because of his training, going in to places without much intel.

"Well it seems like you two have this all planned." Your father chuckles.

"I've got to make some calls, get everything ready. Going to take a good day or so, which should give you enough time to make it to the airport."

    "Which airport?"

"Personal one I built a year ago, bit north of the Keys, I'll give you the directions when you get a bit closer."

"...You built a personal airfield capable of landing a plane large enough to carry a tank, dad?"

"Eh, seemed like a good idea at the time." Your father admits as he takes a drink.

"Well I guess I'll give you a call once I hit Florida..." You grumble, none too enthused to have to make yet another long ass drive.

"Great! I'll be there to see you off!"

Your old man hangs up before you can tell him that perhaps is not a good idea. Damn, you may be able to talk to him over the phone but... In person it might be more difficult...

With a long and loud sigh, you obliterate the phone, chuck the scraps into a trash can, and slide back into the 'cuda.

Firing up the big engine, you back out and start heading to the highway.

"On the road again~" You start to sing.

"Damn it, mortal, no country." Kiara scoffs.

You apologize before picking the player back up and loading up some funky beats.

"You Baba Yaga? Eat some children?"

"Folklore, mostly. There was a Ukrainian witch who went around devouring the power of young witches, but a few non-order witch hunters finally caught up to her and put her down quietly." Kiara sighs.

"Got anyone left around that could help us? Maybe people who worshiped you?"

"Doubtful. Any of them would be well dead by this point, and I doubt there are any immortal witches left old enough to remember me, certainly none we would find easily."

"Right..." You crack your neck and keep driving, listening to the tunes for a while.

"Ya'know, I've been thinking. You went four thousand years-ish without a boyfriend?"

"I told you I've never had the interest for such frivolous things." Kiara scolds you.

"...So I've got an immortal virgin stuck between my ears?"

"Is that a problem?!" Kiara barks back loud enough for your eyes to squint.

    "No, sorry."

"Besides, mortals were after my power, not my affection. I guess you could call them... Gold-diggers." Kiara says the last word, and you can instantly tell she dredged it up from your mind just now.

"So why does it seem like you keep your human side at arms length? Seems like you enjoy this music but you don't really want to admit it." You shrug and dig around for a cigarette.

"Humans are humans, immortals are something else. Humans concern themselves with human things, things that for the most part get left behind when time is irrelevant. Humans too often seek to destroy that which they fear, regardless if there is any kind of rational reasoning behind it." Kiara sighs.

"Not only that, but put yourself in my place. Why interact with someone when you know they will just be dead in for me what felt like an incredibly small time. Fifty years? A hear beat, the blink of an eye..." She sighs again, this time much heavier.

"Far easier to avoid human interactions. No, mortal, I left my humanity behind long ago. I've little desire to rekindle it."

"Seems like you never got a shot at a normal life." You shrug.

"No one with magic ever gets to lead a normal life. It is as much a curse as it is a blessing, perhaps more so." She replies, perhaps a sad twinge to her tone.

"Well I can't argue with that. We'll see if all of that holds up once we get you back together, I guess."

The conversation falls quiet, and so you busy yourself giving your car a look-over. You concentrate on the feeling of raw power, poised on that pedal. The leather steering wheel wrapped tightly by your fingers.

You love this car, maybe too much. The very thought of leaving it behind, while you go to the Ukraine, perhaps never coming back...

"I'm going to miss you, 'cuda." You let out a fake sniff as you rub the dash tenderly.
