You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and captain of the Sword class frigate 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. After a harrowing warp journey, you arrived at the moon-sized space hulk that lurked within Saregin's Path. Among the swarm of ships seeking their fortune from the massive construct, you located Captain Wilson and Magos Taylor's ships and began your search for loot nearby after sending each a quick greeting. Fortune smiled upon your choice, as you seem to have located an intact cruiser hull within the hulk, miraculously hidden within a void-shield sized cavern. As your officers prepare themselves for the expedition to come, you head toward your ship's meager shuttle bay to await their arrival.

    >current plan: secure landing zone with armsmen, then split into four groups to secure various objectives. volunteer crew will search secured areas while armsmen move on to unexplored areas.

Little time passes before Voidmaster Quein arrives, quickly taking command of your shuttle trio to find an entry onto the entombed cruiser. Within a half hour the first shuttle returns for more passengers, the pilot exiting his craft to deliver Quein's report. "Captain, we're in luck. The ship has an open launch bay and it makes a perfect landing zone. The damned place is pitch black, though." You dismiss the pilot as armsmen fill his craft to capacity, additional men securing themselves to the small craft's outer hull with various straps and harnesses. Within an hour your own battalion has completed its transfer to the launch bay, the cavernous space cluttered with what appear to be marauder bombers.

    >You are commanding ALPHA
    >Julin commands BRAVO, but they have yet to transfer to the ship
    >Advi commands CHARLIE, but they have yet to transfer to the ship

We should probably try to restore power to the ship first.

The ALPHA should proceed towards the engines until team CHARLIE can catch up. Advi and her team will then secure the engines/generators and the way to the launch bay.

After meeting team CHARLIE, ALPHA will proceed to the bridge.

BRAVO will start exploring the areas around the launch bay and secure them.

if i recall correctly, one of our officers wanted to check out the engines. send that group there, we will head to the bridge to get an idea of the ships final moments. one team will secure the landing area and the fourth will check the cargo holds for anything of interest.

the bombers have been sitting in this ship for perhaps centuries. You vaguely recall marauder bombers being phased out of void combat perhaps centuries before your time. Having little experience with such craft, you doubt your ability to render one operable before the imperial navy arrives at the space hulk, whenever that may be.

    >>18421359
Chief Enginseer Advi and her underlings have already seen to such blessings. Given your present situation, you doubt you can afford to spare time spoiling the shuttles.
As for the map, please select an adjacent "black" zone to explore (you are currently in the green square)

Where's the stuff located we need to get working again to remove the ship from the hulk?

Engines are probably the final square to the west.

As your force moves through the blackness of the ship, you encounter evidence of battles long since passed. Scattered las burns adorn bulkheads once used for cover, some pierced and bearing the dried blood of the unfortunate soul that once trusted in the structure's strength. Several passages are discovered with skeletal remains of ancient crewmen or invaders upon the floor plates. Though the armsmen are rattled by the journey, no hostiles or survivors are discovered.

Progress slows as your force moves up and aft, the scorched scars of battle growing more dense as you progress. Several doors once blocked the path you follow, but the massive constructs now reside primarily upon the deck plating in small chunks, only tattered scraps remain upon the ancient, rusted hinges. "Why aren't there any more corpses?" asks an armsman behind you. The man nearly leaps from his boots as the vox unit on his back crackles to life, "Julin reporting. We've secured the fore section of the launch bay, but um," your Master-at-Arms' unusual pause causes your flesh brain to shiver, "The doors and hatches, Captain. They're all fused solid."

Your own journey continues as you move toward the ship's bridge, the battle damage and long dried stains of blood increasing with every meter your force covers. Nearing the usual location for a ship's bridge, your men find a gruesome sight. Dozens of skeletons lie scattered upon a decorative staircase, some twisted with obvious mutations of chintinous and clawed limbs, others with bulbous skulls featuring razor-like fangs. Still more skeletons are piled about the rent and twisted remains of an emergency bulkhead past the bridge's entrance. Beyond shines a small, golden aquila in the open, ivory glove of a slim suit of powered armor. Unable to enter without a larger access point, you detail a squad to clear the bones and cut into the bloodied room while you examine the remains of the bridge's blast door. The meter-thick plating bears the patterns associated with melta bombs, though it must have taken dozens to create such a massive breach.

Your men steel themselves before charging thru the breached bulkhead, dozens of tiny lights dancing about the bridge as each armsman attempts to take in the scene within. Skeletons litter the floor, chininous mutants and carapaced humans locked in the violence of their deaths. Slowly, each man turns his attention to the Captain's throne and the monstrosity of a corpse upon it. The sickly blue carapace still grasps at an invisible foe long turned to a pile of bone nearby, the sword that ended the beast embedded deep into the throne itself. Stepping onto the bridge yourself, your eye notes a sickly purple face staring at your own from the right. Your mechadendrite lashes out at the horror as you emit a cry of fear, attempting to distance yourself from the vile xenos but only managling to trip over your own feet. Dropping your bolt pistol in your panic, you land firmly upon your buttox as the creature looms above you. Lasrounds strike the beast as your armsmen quickly react to your scream, causing the husk's head to simply fall into your lap.

You quickly locate the senior armsman of your group and give him orders to move aft and continue securing the ship. Leaving three squads on the bridge with you and a fourth clearing a path toward the ivory power armor, the armsman salutes and leads Alpha further into the darkness of the cruiser. Your mechadendrites dance across the captain's throne, searching for an MIU jack with which to link your mind to the ship while you grab at the vox caster upon an armsman's back. A voice beyond the blast door catches your attention as the bridge consoles continue to slowly light up, "Captain! We've got it clear!" Not wishing to stand idle, you make your way toward your now accessable ivory find. The room is stained a queer mixture of red and blue, the lasting evidence of a pair of dead xenos flanking the powered armor of a battle sister. A wicked claw lays embedded into the collar of the armor, the sister's head likely severed by the attack ages ago. Taking a moment to return the nearby human skull to its body, you order the xenos corpses removed from the room before taking your leave to assist Advi and her force in the engine room.

A thought occurs, and you backtrack to the ship's bridge. "All teams prepare for depressurization!" Locating the damage control console is easy enough, and venting the atmosphere of the lower decks is a simple enough task.

    "Bravo reporting, hostiles needed air."

Yes, the dice have given you a 1-in-100 roll to find a battlecruiser. They then decided that it was repurposed. You now have one of the largest known ships in the sector, few friends, and your ship is woefully undergunned.

    This should be interesting.

As we prep the ship to escape, let's go over the logs and find out what happened to this baby. We're going to need to find a well hidden place so we can start this ship up and running...

How much crew will you transfer?
the battlecruiser requires 4% of your frigate's crew for every 1% of crew gained on the battlecruiser.

your frigate currently has 91% crew
    your battlecruiser has 0%

Ship will be fully powered in an hour

Which ship will you command? Who will command the other?

Well, how much crew do both ships need to function (efficiently)?

After the repairs to the generators are done, have our techpriests inspect the bombers. If they get a few of those working, they could help a lot when it comes to freeing the ship.

Also, did we locate whatever interfered with our sensors?

Our weapons are not exactly precise, I would prefer if we set charges and detonate in a controlled manner, but shooting is also ok if we're in a hurry.

Transfer a skeleton crew +8%(+2% surplus crew to the battlecruiser to keep everything running more or less smmothly) from the frigate, we will command the frigate and someone(Athe?) will command the battlecruiser for now.
keep all armsmen on the cruiser, we don't know what could be hiding there.
If we get an opportunity to pick up anything from the surface of the hulk after we seperate the cruiser, take it and gtfo.

During the hour, we should transfer some crew members to pilot this up, around half crew for both I guess till we can get both up to strength. We also need to get this thing out of the hulk. I say we have Athe use the microcannon to get us out, while we take temporary control of the "Righteous Flame" while Athe continues having temporary command over Sword of the Omnissiah. We can figure out permanent captains later. And then we get the fuck out of dodge.
    >> Anonymous 03/23/12(Fri)02:07 No.18426401
I think the plan is to start transfer crew over to the battlecruise, And keep our armsmen exploring. Then check the ship systems. What works? What doesn't? Start work on what's needed the most.

And how many people do we need to run the battlecruise?

Perhaps even the manufactorum if it was a longe range vessel that had to produce its own ammunition.

a full crew for the battlecruiser is ~107,000 souls
a full crew for your frigate is ~ 26,000 souls

any ship with less than 20% crew is effectively crippled. your armsmen can contribute an extra ~3% to the battlecruiser's crew, if they stand down.

Time to get out of here. If we don't get our hands on explosives or strike craft(hopfully, someone can pilot them), get in position, do the calculations and shoot. The navy should be here any moment now and getting out quickly will make it much more difficult to track us down while we repair and prepare.

every important naval officer will know that we have one of the biggest ships in the area since there are several other ships messing around with the hulk right now, so expect a lot of questions if we try to hide it. Our best bet is to search the ship for cargo, sell it and use the money to either turn it onto a mobile mining/manufacturing facility or a battleship.

So 20% for the sword would be 5,200, And 20% for the battlecruiser would be 21,400. So would need 26,600, but we only have 26,000. So need the armsmen to stand down.

Damn, we're going to have to have the armsmen finish clear out the ship so they can stand down, Or we well have to crippled one of the ships.

So start transferring over 18190 crew over to the battlecruiser.

    "We'll think of something, Captain."

An hour passes quickly as the ship's spirit eagerly awaits freedom denied to it for centuries. The ship's logs revealed the strange history behind the ship, originally in service with the Imperial Navy, the ship was deemed obsolete and sold to an unnamed rogue trader dynasty. Nearly a century later the trader brought her to this space hulk seeking fortune, but the hulk vanished into the warp along with the ship. Though the data containing the exact dates is damaged, you estimate that this ancienct ship dates back at least three millenia. Your cogitators cause your body to shiver with excitement at the thought.

At last the time comes for 'Righteous Flame' to be free once more, her mighty lance battery joining the macrocannons of your frigate as the rock and debris entombing the battlecruiser are shattered. "All ahead full! All hands brace for impact!"

With the might of her drives and the divine plasma of the Omnissiah coursing thru her, Righteous Flame's armored prow rends the remaining debris asunder. Wisps of dusty debris break from her form in the image of tentacles as her mass accelerates toward the system's edge and the safety of a large asteroid belt. Yes, the Omnissiah smiles upon this once forsaken ship

Did our astropaths/navigators find anything strange about the ship? And, did that augur interference come from the cruiser or from deeper in the hulk?

your astropaths and navigators sensed a minor warp taint, though they assume the cause is simply due to prolonged exposure.

the auger interference was due to the space hulk's composition.
