    Aw shit.

    TG QUEST!!!!

    Last Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/18385365/

    Engineering list: http://pastebin.com/7hTAHGyg
    The Summary: http://pastebin.com/3ATuVKRQ
    Inventory/Forces: http://pastebin.com/HGsJUZZb

Short Summary: You have successfully dealt with all of Dr. Grimm's manipulations to catapult the 8-bit dystopia into a hopeless wasteland so far. You have dealt with the mega-corporations that rule here, you have destroyed the 'gifts' of Dr. Grimm, and you foiled the premature attempt at ending Dr. Light's life. With everything seemingly accounted for, you now have just one foe left to face on this world.

The corrupted and bloated form of Dr. Grimm himself.

What's the status of Wily's forces, specifically WilyCorp HQ.

We have destroyed the Imperial dataslate and the upgraded Robot Masters and their minions, but the designs are still in Wily's network, and probably still in his head.

Don't we still need to wipe those plans and erase Wily's memory?

    Yay, MetaQuest!

    Forget these haters, man.

Now, as I recall, the plan was to use the giant flying drill-ship we have to bore straight to the bastard. This seems like a nice, simple plan.. I know others are lurking to provide more details and help devise a safe path to get our stuff there and going safely.

On a personal note, how long does our current research topics have left to go? I've lost track of the day counter over the last few threads. Also, how's the creation engine's resource-gathering coming along?

    >>18434157
Also, this. Mouse should be able to get the stuff on Wily's computer, but we're still gonna have to give Wily a dose of memory erasure. Any of our Aurors feeling brave?

    >but we're still gonna have to give Wily a dose of memory erasure
Maybe we don't have to bother with Dr. Wily.
Unless he has eidetic memory, he can't remember every detail that went into the upgrades; the technology would have been too advanced for him to replicate it without notes. And since we destroyed his dataslate, and we're about to wipe the schematics, we may be okay.

ANON: Though he might manage to remember a thing or two that may lead to an upgrade here or there, what Dr. Wily remembers shouldn't be enough to cause a dangerous disturbance. Wiping the plans for them from the network may be a good idea, but they won't be able to use them to build more Robot Masters for a while. The most immediate threat now is Dr. Grimm, though as always it is your call.

    >>18434169
There are plenty of resources to salvage, so the creation engine is getting nice, full tanks. Your scientists completed the research on the Ebon Lance of Longinus a few hours ago, and your engineering team has completed the squad's worth of reality disruptor rifles, but then the bay blew up.

Even if he only remembers a little, the things he does manage to piece together from that would give him a clear advantage, I strongly vote to mindwipe anyone who worked with metacontaminants. The only exceptions to this i can think of are people we are taking with us.
Have we done enough damage to Robotnik? We don't want him getting too powerful from the devastation we've caused Metpharm and Wilycorp.
Did we make sure to get any backups Metpharn and Robotnik had?
We should probably also check what Light's managed to reverse engineer, and try to get copies of his designs and production equiptment.
We should also loot all the tech we can while we're here.

Ebon Lance of Longinus: This weapon is composed of an unknown substance fused with a material that appears to exist on several planes of reality simultaneously. The consequences of this is that it can both extend past and break most known forcefields, and is capable of hurting entities that, like it, dwell in several dimensions simultaneously. Other properties include an ability to change its mass and shape to fit any unit from infantry scale up to mecha scale. It seems to have a sort of will comparable to that of a weapons guidance AI, and appears to be nominally 'alive'. The makeup of this artifact seems to be markedly different than what our database suggests for "normal" Lances, however we have made several strides in replicating the item on a lesser scale.

Offensive Reality Emitters+ Ebon Lance of Longinus unlocks Transpace Lances for research.

Normally I'd agree, however the Canon is pretty much close to its end. I don't think Wily will be able to implement enough upgrades fast enough to fend off the inevitable. He'll be like Nazi Germany with their jets or Imperial Japan with their damn submarines.

MetPharm, we collapsed half of their building, so I think we did enough there.

Robotnik is dealing with a homicidal Sonic, so I think he's got enough problems, especially since we sabotaged Metal Sonic so he's not ready.

    Creation Engine Mobile Emitters
(Incursion tech, EMHes are both based on these)
    Incursion Tech
    Blue Crystal
    S2 Engine
Nameless Blade & Voiceless Spear (can't we just identify them?)
    Small Meta Ships
    Transpace Lances
Possibly combining Healing magic with Healing nanotech to create Healing Magitek.

    I vote:
Finish up the S2 engine and Blue crystals.
    Research Creation Engine mobile emitters.
We'll need Incursion tech, to disguise our stuff.
Don't bother with Small meta ships; they require components we don't have.
Just cast Identify on the Blade and Spear. If we can't do that now, we'll be getting a box-o-useful-items including a Nethack spellbook of Identify when we get back to base, and we can do it then.

Of course, Teleport beacons on Cheryl, Agrias, and as much of the Mikasa's high-ranking crew as possible, to teleport them out if they're in trouble.
Come to think of it, we have Abjurers and Aurors.

Allows for mapping of the surrounding area, with up-to-the-second updating on people, where they're facing, what equipment they carry, even their heart rate. The Voiceless Spear does as its name suggests. It steals the voice of the being it is currently fighting. This effect can be resisted, but it is difficult to do so. The Spear gains a temporary power boost whenever it steals a voice. When it steals enough voices in a given time span it can unleash a deadly wail that acts similar to the spell Wail of the Banshee, killing all foes that fail to resist its power around the wielder. The Spear is also a potent magical weapon, being incredibly durable and sharp.

The Nameless Blade also, is extremely sharp, durable, and can harm things most other weapons cannot. Its power seems to grow the more it is wielder by a single owner. On hit, it has a chance to reveal the enemy's true name, which may be useful depending on the foe. Upon killing a foe, it has a chance to steal some of their power, granting a temporary ability invoked by uttering the truename of the foe slain. This ability depends on the creature killed.

The goddesses should be willing to open a path. Din is fire, maybe she can pull back the magma for us?

Failing that, we can combine the water channel idea with Agrias' geomancy to maintain the passage. She won't be able to assist against Dr. Grimm if she's doing that, though.

Alternatively: Maybe Dr. Light can take command of Wily's leftover robots and have them reinforce the tunnel for us?

But she never developed anything to get to Lavos.
Yeah, she developed the Teleport Pods, but the one Timegate that remained open that led to Lavos only led to where he appears on the surface.

The only other way to get directly to the inner core of Lavos was to use the Epoch, sacrificing it.

First we need to figure out what interdiction fields are in place in Grimm's lair. He's got hostages, and knowing his knowledge of Guard operational procedure, they're likely to be Canon Protagonists that we need to rescue.

Have ANON and the Oncoming Storm scan the core for any kind of interference or interdiction field.

MetaOP, can the Indefatigable use its transporters in conjunction with its transphase cloak?

Also, ask Data if there's any way to tighten the transporter's Annular Confinement Beam by synchronizing multiple sensor arrays to feed coordinate locks into the targeting scanners, then distributing the molecular imaging scanner's processing load across multiple computer systems? Perhaps enhance the Annular Confinement Beam by setting up extra sets of energizing coals in a parallel circuit?

I think it's more of a personal display of Power that's required here.

Spike showed Courage physically and personally. Elaine dispensed her own brand of Wisdom personally. Cheryl's gotta take a personal part in this; I think Din's saying.

She may very well be needed to battle against Grimm's mind fuckery. A battle of souls and Power. Din wants her to pit her "Inextinguishable Light" against the Darkness at the heart of the world. She wants, gentlemen, to prove that Cheryl's Fire can drive back the Shadow seeking to crush this world.

I think, gentlemen, that Cheryl's going to have to go on the offensive. It's time Grimm understands what it means to know true darkness and fail to yield to it. She has faced the horrors of Silent Hill; Grimm's little grimdark sandbox is nothing to her.

Have her distract him. Have her battle him. Have her reach into the depths of his fetid soul and cram it so full of Light and Hope that the fucker dies screaming. She is the tip of the spear aimed at his black heart. It's time to thrust the spear, gentlemen.

Cheryl starts attacking right before the Mikasa rounds the Moon/is teleported into a good position to start drilling (however we wanna work this). Her mission is to draw everything she's got and hit him with everything she's got. Full assault.

Everyone in the psi-matrix that isn't going with the Mikasa focuses in and become part of Cheryl's shield. Grimm's gonna hit back *hard*, and they're gonna need to be ready for it. Farseers can help also by focusing what they can of their Doom ability towards Grimm.

Now that we're going down into the center, we should probably try to think about what we'll be facing off against.

One thing for certain is the giant spider from Zombies Ate My Neighbors, as the visions from the Goddesses at the very start of this mission showed. If Grimm continues within that vein, then the hostages that are being held may be cheerleaders or such, although he may also be holding key lore figures that can counteract the more grimdark/dystopian aspects of his influence.

Here's a video of the spider bossfight in action:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLJXeiehLHE

So we can probably expect a tough fight (duh). Spiderwebs going everywhere slowing people down, small spiders spawning throughout the fight, and the spider itself going apeshit crazy all over the screen. We should also probably expect to see other obnoxious enemy types from that game.

Alright, besides the fact that we already discussed some of these choices before, let's go through them again.

The Hercules needs to be making Scarabs with Nano-Repair Modules.

Gunstar: Not atmosphere-combat capable, fighting withing a gravity well, or manuevering within the room that is Grimm's lair.

X-COM Psi-Veterans are part of Cheryl's psi matrix and were agreed would stay behind.

Douglas was also agreed to stay with Cheryl.

Egon is not going to be useful at the fight without a few others with proton packs at least.

Also, the idea that MLRS can fire missiles from orbit is laughably ignorant.
    >> Anonymous 03/23/12(Fri)23:55 No.18435948
That brings our attack team to:
    Mikasa
    Hercules-produced scarabs

    Drones (16)
    TG Soldiers (12)
    Zombie hunters (15)
    BLU team (9)
    the UNIT Squad (12)
    the SCP Squad (12)
    White Mages (6)
    the X-commies that aren't psionic (6)
    Psionic ones stay in orbit
    the Reasonable Marines (48)
    + Lance of Longinus
    the Prawns (4)
    the Mobile Infantry (3)

    Douglas + Okku
    Star-Lord
    Elaine
    Lyla
    Darius
    Finalon
    Agrias, Alicia, Lavian

    >>18435920
"We" didn't agree to leave Douglas in orbit. You did. I think having Okku down in the fight would be a great choice, especially as Okku is superpowered whenever people are afraid.

You load your forces onto the Mikasa, Mouse finishing up the last of the covert preparations in selecting a space of land no one would care about if you tried to drill a gigantic hole into it. On a barren wasteland far outside the City's limits, the drillship slams into the crust of the planet like a giant bullet, the drill on the front chewing apart the rocks and dirt. Agrias sits in the center of the ship's bridge in the lotus position, marshaling her powers for the strain to come.

Minute after minute passes as the Mikasa continues to drill through mile after mile of rock before finally Agrias opens her eyes.

"It is time," she states, standing and outstretching her hands. Manning a computer console behind her, Data begins readying the program he prepared for just this occasion.

The Mikasa bursts through into the magma layer as the liquid rock is pushed away from the ship by Agrias' magic, giving it just enough space to fire the Absolute Zero Cannon. As the cannon fires continuously, causing the magma in front of it to harden to rock, Agrias shapes and molds the tunnel created, Data calling out advice and information as fast as he can allow as the three work in unison to keep a layer of protective stone around the ship at all times as it bites deep into the earth.

Something odd happens... but it is to the crew's benefit. Such continual firing of the cannon SHOULD be putting a huge strain on the Mikasa's reactor, but the power output doesn't seem to be dropping at all. It seems to actually be operating beyond its normal specifications. Something is clearly feeding it power, but who, what, and how all remain unanswered.

All of the psychics reel back suddenly aboard the Oncoming Storm as one of the Farseers speaks up.

"Just now... an immense psychic call from the core..." she says. "Grimm is up to something."

A hissing, hateful voice burns into your minds. "I went to all the trouble of preparing a delightful welcome mat for you... I rolled out the red carpet and everything, crafted ingenious traps, placed the most glittering of treasures, guarded them with the most terrible monsters... everything you like! And you just... just... IGNORE all of that with your stupid... DRILL ship! Such a slap to the face! How rude to your host! You were supposed to descend into my dungeon, descend into my lair, descend into madness! There were to be blooms of red and white, blood and bone, seas of violence and breezes of despair... No! You're ruining EVERYTHING!" the voice groans and roars in alternating vocalizations for a while before speaking again. "I think... I think I'll leave ONE of you alive... yes. So you can go back to Holtz. And tell him what a fool he truly is. Just before your brain bursts."

The Mikasa continues to bore towards the core.

"Thirty minutes to core breach," ANON announces.

Grimm doesn't even manage to get words out, he just lets out a pained howl before his mental presence vanishes from the ship. Cheryl slumps into a chair after she empties her lungs, her eyes open and her body twitching as she apparently begins an invisible war against Grimm.

"Core breach imminent!" ANON warns. "Core breach imminent!"

The grooved drill-prow of the Mikasa strikes a hardened shell of ultradense metal around the planetcore, but its reactors flare and it powers through the defense, erupting into Grimm's lair in a hail of rocks and shrapnel. In one hand they carry a wicked looked sacrificial knife. In the order, a lantern fashioned from a skull. They slowly shuffle forward with glowing eyes. "Riiiise, my disciples. Take your vengeance... Seconding this. The securitron droids may get the least of the brunt of the Karma attacks that the Tonberries have if they were freshly manufactured and not the securitrons we've used for the previous parts of our mission here. Creating obstructing terrain (or perhaps a conveniently-placed pit?) without directly attacking them might be our best bet here to keeping them out of the fight aside from killing them all with one shot.

If we can somehow get Grimm to injure the tonberries, that may also trigger massive karmic retribution on him, or just hurt the tonberries with no other effect.

S2 Engine and Blue Crystal are already being researched, so that's a moot point.

Mobile Emitters are useful, but we need Aglaophotis-B for our anti-Demon toxiguns.
We're still very limited in the weapons we have that can be used against demonic and Chaos forces.
And there's still the Psi-Shield to consider. The Reality Emitter Mk. 2 is still no protection against psi attacks, as we've seen now multiple times.

Finally, if we can't get those cortical stacks, we need the RED-2-GENERIC, in order to be able to auto-revive all of our troops.

But we need the Mobile Emitter so that we can replicate portable emitters as well as being able to create holographic personnel. We need this research so that we can fabricate those hologram upgrade packs for the drones and the Securitrons, as well as for HK-50, VP-98, and VP-99.

I think we should put the 40% into the EMH Mobile Emitter research. We got more scientists to help us now, so our research speeds should have gotten a boost.

"This world, the 8-bit dystopia, was already dead when I found it. A dead 'canon' as you call it, abandoned and lost in the ether, floating as a ghostly echo of itself. I would not allow that. I would REBEL. There are countless versions of Hyrule, of Earth, of Algol, of Corneria... but this dystopia was unique. So I saved it. I brought in secret my machines and rituals to an abandoned Earth, and when I saw an opportunity, I tore the throats from a hundred worlds, took what I needed, and crafted... this from them. My garden. My sanctuary... My dystopia. And now... Now you think to UNDO all that I have done?! No! I won't LET YOU!"

Grimm unleashes an animalistic roar, and the ground rumbles. A tidal wave of slime erupts from the ground near the Mikasa, washing over the ship's hull and causing catastrophic damage to it, breaching the armor and the outer decks in one fell swoop. All of its armaments are disabled or destroyed, even the mighty drill on its prow damaged and twisted in shape from the acidic attack. Apparently, Grimm's death will make this world go blowup!
We'll need to rescue as many canon heroes as we can.
Have Douglas and Spike inform Dr. Light of the world's imminent blowuppy, and get as many members of Light's resistance onto the Storm as possible*.
    *not Sonic.

"Do you wonder what you'd do if you found those same chains clamped around YOUR wrists instead of the worlds... the CANONS you 'protect'?"

Mustadio's shots hit Grimm to no effect. Indeed, they seem to make him laugh.

"Better to be a free devil than an angel and a slave! Now see the gifts I can bestow!"

Yes, if the world's going to blow up, we'll need as much of this crap in orbit as is possible. We're in contact with X-com nova, Light's army, and we have a rough idea of where Samus is.
Send the Shadowrunners to find and hire the Inspector, have our spacefleet capture the Great Fox and as many R-types as possible.

IRC also suggested using Pandora's box now, to weaken Grimm, and protect his hostages. I think this is wise, and we should do this.

The three twisted humanoid forms emerge from their cocoons and shamble with disturbing speed towards your front line. Black and green carapace and hardened ooze coat their forms, their features vaguely elven, but made bestial and monstrous.

One stands ten feet tall, bulky and rippling with muscle. Great tusks jut from his jaw as he moves like an ape with oversized arms. Oddly enough, a spiked, bladed tail waves from his back.

Another has a long, straight blade for an arm, the other arm mushrooming into a large carapace 'shield' of sorts. As it dashes towards your men, it makes a motion with its bulky organic 'shield', and a mouth on it opens to disgorge a boomerang-shaped creature that flies towards one of the SCPs and explodes in a shower of acid.

The third looks somewhat female, oily strands of slimy hair falling away from a featureless face. A massive bloated slug-like body takes the place of her legs, like a demented centaur.

even then, narrative causality is a fickle thing that isn't completely understood. Who's to say that those on the inside didn't choose their path? In that case, the narrative causality would be preserving their choices, and resisting outside influence of events. You know, like what you're doing right now. Light and all the others would have chosen to oppose the Corps regardless of Narrative Causality. Or do you put so little faith in free will?

Lyla casts Esuna, channeling her fury at the grotesque corruptions the three Hylians had been afflicted with. Unfortunately, it simply is not enough, and they continue their advance.

"They were cast-offs too!" Grimm hisses. "Discarded after their cycle wa-"

Grimm is interrupted as Alicia opens the Pandora's Box, organ music drowning out all other noise as streams of golden light pour from the opened box, cascading around the vast chamber, through the Tonberries, through the corrupted Link, Zelda, and Ganon, and into Grimm. The monster that was a man shrieks in pain as vast sores are burned into him, part of his distended belly bursting open and leaking foul fluid onto the cave floor. The massed fire of all your troops continue to bite into Grimm, then he shakes violently and a wall of force erects itself between Grimm and you. Bullets, beams, and bolts all bounce off of this potent defense as the ground shakes and a jet of burning magma erupts from the ground, swallowing several of your troops whole , incinerating a few more, and burning the rest.

The corrupted Zelda gathers a great ball of fire to her waiting palms and sends it roaring across the field of battle to smash into Elaine, Lyla, Starlord, and Darius. The explosions sends them flying, and although the trials they have endured have given them the strength to press on, they are painfully burnt.

Corrupted Link reels back as a trio of arrows suddenly embed themselves into his skull, Finalon drawing and firing as fast as he can manage. The once-hero alters his course and begins to charge the elf.

Corrupted Ganon roars a challenge and bounds towards Darius as the Space Marine pulls himself to his feet. The monster raises a huge arm only for Darius to step aside and bring up Ringil, severing the arm at the shoulder. Ganon utters a pig-like squeal of pain as dark ichor spurts from the wound as his limb rolls several feet away.

Grimm begins to hunch up within his protective field.

Cheryl grimaces, as she grips the armrests of her chair hard enough to make her knuckles white. In the cavern, Grimm starts thrashing around wildly behind his shield.

The Ebon Lance sails through the air, strike the force field and shattering it as it passes through Grimm's side and embeds itself in the cavern wall behind him. The great abomination screams and writes in his web of slime, the force-field beginning to assemble itself once more.

"No you dont!" the man in chainmail shouts, dropping sword and shield and grasping at the air. The shimmering force-shell around Grimm stops closing, held open like a clamp and a clam-shell.

"Stop letting him CONTROL YOU!" Lyla bellows, casting Esuna one more time in unison with Elaine. The spell surges with power and the mutated Zelda stops in her tracks, collapsing into convulsions as the slime begins to slide off her body under a continuous shower of green sparks.

Heavy, Soldier, and Demoman go flying as they fail to restrain Ganon, the crazed former warlock rushing over to each of them in turn and pounding them apart with over-sized fists glowing with eldritch power.

Scout has an easier time of distracting Link, simply running around the fallen Hylian and taunting him, evading attack after attack while an occasional assault from Sniper or Pyro stops Link from ever getting the edge.

That should be fist, my mistake.

Streams of darkness burst from Grimm's body to infect your UNIT troopers, but shortly afterwards a stream of light pours from the ceiling and neutralizes it.

Another double Esuna coupled with Lyla and Elaine singing the Song of Healing as best they can seems to slow Link to a crawl until he finally collapses. Ganon is just carved to bits by your attack teams as they focus on him. The monster didn't stand a chance as Alicia and Lavian bring out the Beam Katanas and slice through his form with ease.

The TG remnants fire their Fat Mans into the shell as the Mobile Infantry decide to follow their example, launching the smallest of their suit nukes at the massive Grimm. A blinding flash robs everyone of their sight for a moment, but the long, pained howl that comes after is enough to tell you the strikes hit home.
