Twitter for next thread time: HereticalLoveQ

Your name is Last, son of a mob boss and murdered baker, host of an immortal witch.

Who is about to magically irradiate a flock of seagulls on the shores of some rocky Italian beach, to try to throw off the tracking systems of an ancient order of witch hunters.

Been kind of a strange week.

    "You think this will work?"

"Hmm? Probably." Kiara shrugs, before turning back toward the birds.

"Now my little pets, lets make you shine..." The witch smirks, raising a hand toward the flock. She stands there, wind blowing her hair, which you still don't understand seeing as to how she is some kind of mind+soul ghost.

The birds, noisily squawking and stirring just a moment ago, suddenly stand very still. Their heads turn to face Kiara, beady black eyes focusing.

    And suddenly turning red...

"Now go!" She swings her hand, and on her command, the seagulls all at once take to the sky in a flurry of feathers and what you guess a hefty amount of magical radiation.

The witch turns back, her small smile fading as she notices you biting your fist to try to hold back the laughter.

    "What?"

    "Nothing." You shake your head.

    "What?!"

"Nothing "Summoner of Sky Rats", lets get going."

You pull yourself back up onto the massive BMW motorcycle, watching the seagulls as they fade into the distance.

Kiara slides on behind you, and you can tell she's a bit irked at you poking fun. Tough for her, it helps you get through these odd and often incredibly difficult days.

"Ever been to Pompeii?" You ask as you fire up the large engine, the bike chortling to life. You wonder if the water did a bit of damage to it.

"Once, can't say it was a memorable place." She shrugs, before grabbing you around the middle as you lurch the bike into speed.

You have it in mind to get the fuck out of the area before someone picks up on her little burst of magic, if they haven't already.

"We really need to figure out some way to mask you and these boxes if they give off radiation, I'm getting sick of being tracked down..."

"I'm trying my best, you know." Kiara frowns, "Its not like I had to deal with any of this before, either."

The Italian roads near the coast are old, weather worn by sun and sea air, and not very accommodating to any kind of speed. It is incredibly frustrating to avoid potholes and large cracks, which are holding you to far less fast than you would prefer to go.

"We're not too far away now." She tells you after a while into the trip.

    "No? How can you tell?"

"Even mortals leave some trace of themselves when they die, a fragment of something. The more sudden and terrible the demise, the more detectable it is."

    "Is it magic?"

"No, not magic. Just a small shadow of life that once was."

    "Well that's dark..."

The place isn't hard to find, especially when you start getting stuck behind tour buses full of people all heading to check out the ancient site of calamity. You sigh as you almost just idle the bike along, a travesty considering it's raw power.

"We'll need to get past the tourist zones, whatever is still buried here... It isn't going to be in a place that is open to the public, or likely even most researchers..." Kiara tells you as she looks over at some Italian guards.

"Submachine guns." You notice. "I wonder if they've tightened security down here..."
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/16/12(Mon)17:23 No.18742450
"I wouldn't put it past the order, though these men aren't with them."

"Are they just regular guards?" You ask, trying to look without making it seem like you're looking.

    "Italian army."

    "Wonderful..."

Traffic is directed toward a large parking area for tourists, and you have little choice but to follow them in and shut off the bike. The crowd is moving toward a gate manned by a dozen or so guards, as well as a screening area. You see the guards checking through bags at the entrance.

"What's all of this?" You ask a man wearing a hat covered in pins of the Union Jack.

"Extra security, right bummer to my holiday. They're worried about terrorists, the gits."

"Sure they're worried about terrorists..." You think to Kiara.

"Good cover at least, isn't it." She nods.

You mill around the back of the crowd, wondering if you should step in line and try to blend in as just another tourist. At the same time, you'll have to do something about the Sig concealed at your hip, they likely won't take kindly to it...

"We could try sneaking our way past, or you could brainwash them, right?"

"At the cost of using magic, yes."

You think on this for a minute, trying to work out a plan.

Have Kiara do a sweep, make sure the guards don't have platinum earrings or anything like that on them.

Then check if there are any good routes around the blockade, I'd rather not use magic if I don't have to. If we have to go through get the Sig deep in our bags under piles of stuff, look as non-suspicious as possible. Adopt as touristy a persona as possible, say we're trying to ride to all the places our dear dad told us about in his stories of his youth. We'll use subtle mind magic to convince them that they don't really need to check our bags.

"Can you sense anything? Anybody got a platinum bucket on their head?"

"I'm getting a small amount of interference nearby, not at the kind of levels that a large group would produce. It could be a tourist with a nice necklace, or it could be a single order member. In either case, it isn't too close by."

    "Groovy..."

You decide that the best plan is to find another way around, avoid dealing with the checkpoint entirely. On the off chance that they did find your Sig, Kiara could just mindwipe them, but that would certainly show up on any local tracking system.

Instead, you scan for a road less traveled, and find it.

A small cart path that loops around the right of the checkpoint, obscured by a rise covered in a modest flower bed. Not perfect cover, but it will have to do.

"Keep a watch on them, let me know if I'm safe to move." You start edging over toward the path, which is blocked only by a small rope strung across it. Not exactly high security, especially considering there isn't a guard posted on it.

"Which means they don't know we're here, they're just covering bases..."

You keep sidestepping at the back of the crowd, watching the guards at the checkpoint out of the corner of your eye.

"Go, they just found a chisel in one of these bags."

Kiara doesn't have to tell you twice. You check yourself once, find no one is watching, and slip under the rope. As silently as you can, you scamper down the path until you're obscured by the flower topped hill.

For a few moments you wait, hear thundering in your ears, awaiting the call to alarm.

    It doesn't come.

"A bit jumpy, hmm?" Kiara smirks down at you from atop the rise.

"I have every right to be."

    paranoia is back to 11.
Kenji jensen will be telling us "Didn't I tell you about this already!" when we inevitably find that witch hunters ARE actually space lizards.

Getting jumpy over imagined threats when just a few moments ago we were jumped by assault copter isn't unhealthy.

We spent a fair part of today dealing with a fucking Mig-28 Havoc controlled by a man literally plugged into a witch and the helicopter. Paranoia is part of our everyday lives at this point. Always beware, never trust anyone with platinum and know that the order is just waiting for us to slip up.

She floats down to beside you again as you slow down your breathing and get moving. The path cuts away from the tourist one for a short while, before ending at a storage shed. It won't be difficult to move across the rocks and back into the tourist area.

"Which gets us to the place everyone can see, all of the time..." You frown. "It would really help if you knew where to go or what we were actually looking for."

"I know as much as you do." Kiara scowls.

"Which isn't enough. Fuck it, we'll just see what we see."

Staying low and watching for any signs of trouble, you start down the cart path, figuring you'll get toward the end before popping over the rocks to make sure you can get back into the tourist area unnoticed.

"Again, whatever it is, it's not going to be anywhere open to the public."

Keeping that in mind, you slowly climb the rocks to gaze out into the area beyond. There are a lot of tourists milling about, but their attention is directed inward toward the ruins of the ancient city, those exposed by excavation.

    "Coast is clear."

You mount over the final rock and quickly make it back down into the mob of milling people. Safe once more within the large group. Well, as safe as you can be, anyways.

    "Recognize anything?"

"Hardly, I wasn't around here too close to the time of the eruption." Kiara shakes her head.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/16/12(Mon)18:00 No.18742833
The tourists are being led around in groups by guides, each of them shouting out facts about the ruined city in a variety of languages to a diverse gathering of nationalities.

There are a few guards milling about as well, most looking downright bored and paying little attention as they smoke and talk in small groups. Thankfully none of them single you out with crazy metal soul boxes. The sky is also clear of Russian attack helicopters.

"We've been bickering the whole time, we're lazing around a tourist trap, and I'm seriously considering getting a beer. Hell, it feels just like a vacation." You smirk.

"Putting up with you makes it feel like work enough to me." She replies, not masking her tone of awe or bothering to look back at you as she runs her hand along a column.

    "Bit of nostalgia?"

"Just remembering how infatuated the Romans were with these things. I was never one for their architecture, or for cities."

"Too hard to be a tree hugger without any trees nearby?"

Kiara tilts her head back to give you a disapproving look.

"Anyways, we need to figure out which way to go."

The crowd is splitting up as guides head off down different roads, heading toward various sections of the excavated areas. You wonder if it would be a good idea to mill around with one of them.

"We have trouble..." Kiara suddenly grimaces.

    "Trouble?"

"I was hoping she wouldn't find us..."

A few moments later and you hear a familiar voice.

    "Heya big bro!"

You turn around to see the little blond girl, toothy grin ear to ear, hands on her hips. Dressed in a pink sweatshirt and short shorts, she doesn't exactly stand out from any of the whining children getting dragged around by their parents.

"You were pretty hard to find you know, good thing I brought him along." She gestures over to a young boy, probably about her age. Only by now you guess he's probably some ancient lighting wizard who had the tower of Babylon built so he could throw papyrus airplanes off of it.

"Now what in Sam hell are you doing here?!"

"Well... Its a long story..." Sarna looks down at the ground, kicking at a pebble.

You lower yourself down, staring at her, clearly unamused.

"I have a lot of time."

    "Its nothing much, really..."

    "Sarna......"

"I guess I kinda got found out that I wasn't exactly... Following orders." She looks back up and smiles as though everything is cool, which it is decidedly NOT.

    "So they're onto us?!"

"Huh? No not really, honestly! They just think I went AWOL is all!" She waves her hands in front of you as she tries to play it off.

"The hell did you do?!" You snarl.

"Its not my fault! This idiot here blew up a truck full of witch hunters out after him, and then they sent me to kill him so..." She looks at her feet sheepishly, "Well they had a camera that saw me..."

"Not killing me." Damon finishes for her. "Specifically the camera saw us having a picnic."

"Pfft... You don't have to be this embarrassed about your girlfriend." Sarna smirks. Thankfully Kiara doesn't seem to have heard that.

You look around until you spot a lunch area which is deserted at this time of day, the food stalls closed already it seems. Some nice wooden tables you can sit down at.

    "Over here."

After leading the two kids over, Kiara floating behind and looking like she's only half-there, you sit down on a bench seat and gesture for them to do the same.

"That, my little Mcfirefist, is Ruin." You gesture over toward Kiara, who is standing beside you.

The sucker that Sarna had stuck in her mouth falls to the ground, shattering into pieces.

"You're fucking kidding me." She stares.

"That's right. Ruin, THE Ruin. She who watches frogs, the heavyweight of the desert, the..."

Kiara silences you by pushing your face against the table.

"Indeed, so you would do well to not annoy me, lest I unleash my wrath." Kiara scowls.

"Oi! Play nice." You poke Kiara in the back.

"So that means you're back, then? Excellent, I was wondering if I'd ever stand a chance of really stopping the Order." Damon smirks and nods curtly. "If the stories are even half true, I'd say that chance is pretty good now."

Yep, we currently just need her body, we're investigating here because this is where the Medici family was based and they were deeply involved in keeping the bodies of rended witches.

Once we get her body back and she gets her full mojo on then yeah, she can do whatever you've heard about in the stories, until that point she still is probably the most powerful magic user you'll ever meet. Make up funny nicknames for her, like the Darkness who Squeaks in the Night, she loves it when you do that.

Now, Boogie Magus, long story on who exactly you are and information. Little Miss Apocalypse here isn't as useful on that front. Tell me about witch souls, placating them, obtaining their help and most importantly the Order's tracking methods and how to avoid them.

"Glad to help in any way I can. Tired of living on the run." The young man nods.

"So Damon, you're my new go-to guy for soul stuff, because Ruin here, for as great as she is, knows shit all about them." You light up a cigarrette, which doesn't even draw a sideways glance because this is Europe and people here don't have a stick up their ass about it.

"I want to know more about placating souls, can I do it?" You ask as you exhale.

"As a non magic user? No, they don't speak any language, don't have a mind, really. Souls are more or less just emotion and energy. When you can sooth their emotions, you can calm them down and keep them like these. They aren't really useful out of those Order devices, but at least like this they aren't suffering."

"And you know all of this how?"

"From my travels and firsthand experience. I would hang onto the souls after killing off hunters, but didn't know what to do with them. After a few attempts at releasing them, I got one to calm down and persuaded it into a jar. Been looking for ways to get them back together with their minds and bodies ever since." "Interesting. I have to wonder why you haven't done much to shield yourselves though. I could sense your magic from a long ways off, but I'm more attune to it than even the best Order tech."

You put out a hand and stop Damon from getting up.

"Hold the fuck up. You can teach "Shredder of Peeps" here to stay hidden?"

"Completely? No, it isn't possible. But if you concentrate on the solar radiation already present in the environment, you can use it to drown out magical presence." Damon says as though it were common knowledge.

"Interesting, so than..." Kiara and Damon get into a talk, little of which you understand.

"See, told you he was smart." Sarna smirks.

Sarna is busily darting around, the ADHD ball of energy she is. You aren't sure if it's an act or just the way she really is, either way, it helps you blend in. Just a dude showing his kids some historical shit.

"So you learn how to shield yourself a bit better?" You ask Kiara, who looks worn out, perhaps from dealing with the kids.

"A bit. It only works if the suns rays are present, so not at night or indoors very well. Thankfully the ozone layer is so depleted, it doesn't appear out of the norm when magic is used to increase solar radiation in an area. Apparently it messes with the Order tracking systems when combined with magic radiation, they don't really pick up on it unless they get really close."

"So no..." You sigh, making a note to do it somewhere out of the way as soon as you get a chance.

"So how much radiation are those boxes giving off right now? Should we be worried? By the way, would a faraday cage or the ocean kind of block the tracking systems?" You ask the young lad.

"Enough to be noticed, likely, we won't want to leave them unattended or stay here for too long. As far as blocking the tracking, the faraday cage might work to an extent, until you get too close. The ocean does a good job, that's why the Order had the SOSUS put in."

    "...SOSUS tracks magic?"

    "Are you surprised?"

    "Somehow...No."

You keep walking, making your way along behind a crowd of people all gawking at the ruins. You might find them interesting if you weren't on a mission.

"Trouble." Damon, Sarna, and Kiara all say at the same time.

You follow their gazes and in the distance, see four armed men standing beside an iron door laid into the side of a hill.

"Oh yeah, that isn't completely obvious or anything..." You groan, noticing their F2000 rifles and dark sunglasses, and you can guess that they've got some pretty baller earrings on as well. Even an idiot would know they aren't local military guys.

"So the Order must know something is here. Do they see us?"

"Not yet, but if we get too close, they will." Sarna says, peeking out around a group of tourists.

"Sitting out in the open like that... That isn't exactly Order standard operations... Could be a trap." Damon tells you with caution in his voice.

"Don't do anything rash. I'd rather not have to reveal ourselves if we don't have to." Damon warns.

Though you might be a bit crazy for moving toward the Order guards, you figure either they are guarding something legit, or its a trap and you've been tracked here anyways.

Either way, you want to know what is behind those doors, so you get within fifty yards before pretending to read a placard, which is in Italian so you can't even if you wanted to.

"Don't suppose you can ghost on in there?" You ask Kiara.

"Surprisingly, I can. The door isn't platinum lined, I'll check it out."

Kiara floats ahead toward the entrance while you wish you had more on you than just the Sig, which won't fare well in a straight fight against rifles.

Sarna and Damon hung back a bit away from you, joking around either to blend in or because despite their age, they are still kids.

You wait anxiously, watching as Kiara slips through the door, disappearing out of your sight. You just hope they don't have some kind of ghost trap in there.

"They don't, mortal. This is also a long tunnel, heads deep into the old city from the look of it. I'm limited in my range so I cant investigate much further, but I don't think they're guarding it for no reason and it doesn't seem like a trap."

"Couple of Order guys getting slack on the job, eh? Seems like it might just be my lucky day." You smirk.

"Right, well if you can mess with the sensors, I'd rather take that route instead of messing with guards. I'll try to get closer, give you a bit more range."

You make it look natural, wandering around a bit, pretending to check out different things in the ruins. After a few minutes, you take a seat on the slope of the hill at the base, on the opposite side of the guards.

    "That help?"

"Slightly... I see the family crest down here, the old one. Lots of equipment, it appears that the Order has been doing some digging of their own. The tunnel goes on even further, but I can't keep going. This has got to be what we're looking for."

"Scramble the motion sensors, I'm coming down." You tell her as you start up the hill, keeping yourself out of sight.

You find the shaft that Kiara talked about, noticing its covered by a steel grate with thick bars.

    "Got the sensors messed up?"

    "Yes, mortal, now hurry up."

Making sure nobody is watching, you cock back your fist and give the bars a sound thumping. They cave under your enhanced strength, bending inwards until you open up enough of a hole to slip into.

The metal ventilation shaft is cramped and noisy, but Kiara didn't mention anyone down there, so you don't worry much about it.

After a few nasty twists and having to stop a large fan so you could get past it, you drop down to the floor of compacted ash and marvel at the sight.

You're on the street of the old city, buildings half sunken into the earthen walls, apparently not worth uncovering further. A ways ahead, you spot Kiara.

"Whatever, lets get whatever it is that's down here and get back out. I don't fancy getting trapped down here."

The two of you start back down the tunnel, bathed in florescent lights from the industrial fixtures above. It makes strange shadows off of pillars and partially exposed walls, quite eerie when you're underground.

    "This way."

Kiara leads you to a more narrow tunnel, far less excavated than the one leading to it. Here the air grows stale, and you can taste the ambient dust in the air, ash stirred up around your feet as you walk.

"This is bizarre." You comment, reaching out to run your finger down a dirty column.

"When you're done sightseeing, mortal, let me know. The tunnel narrows up here, I think we're getting close."

Sure enough, it narrows even further, the ceiling mere inches from your head. Large drills sit around, most looking well oiled and ready to go. You get the feeling that this is a recent tunnel.

"Not going to argue that, mortal. Lets check it out."

"Anything other than us down here?"

"A few fiends, but nothing else."

Keeping a hand on your Sig in case of any surprises, though Kiara hasn't picked up on any, you press forward. The inside of the building has been cleared out as well, though a lot of ash still sits in piles around the marble floor.

Everywhere you look, you can see the family crest, the old crest. No doubt about it, they were here once.

"This is some crazy shit..." You marvel, picking up a bronze chalice, still covered in ash.

There are a lot of rooms, and most are full of things, remnants of the city life before the event. Amphorae lining some walls, marble sculptures, a few mosaics on the floors.

"Pretty." You notice as you brush one off, revealing a hunting scene, complete with half naked women with spears and all manner of beast.

"Mortal..." Kiara looks back at you, and you notice what she's standing over. A large door set into the floor. Its construction of meticulously decorated metal, which is shiny enough that you can take a guess. The door is barred from outside, with massive iron bars across it.

"What is it?" You ponder, looking down at it.

"No idea." Kiara shakes her head.

You gaze over the quite beautiful engravings, though much of it is too covered in ash to make out.

Both you and Kiara jump when a large, booming knock shakes the door from the inside, rustling ash. It pounds, again and again, growing louder.

The threads or the show? The show has some potential if it doesn't just turn into a generic harem.

"Nope, I don't like it." You nope, drawing your Sig and aiming at the door.

"It certainly wasn't what I had expected." Kiara adds, still looking quite alarmed.

The knocking continues for a few moments, before stopping.

"Any idea what the fuck it is?"

"Through that? How would I?" She fumes.

Taking a chance, you strip off your shit and wrap your hand in it. This you use, cautiously, to knock on the metal door. Two firm, solid knocks.

Which are answered by a flurry of beatings from the far side of the door, so strong that they shake it in its frame.

"I don't think its friendly..." You turn toward the witch.

"We've come too far to turn back now, get the door open. If its not friendly, I'll incinerate it."

Ever so gingerly, you slowly slide out the steel bars stopping the door, one by one, until you've cleared them all.

    "Are you ready?"

    Kiara nods.

And the door is blown outward from inside as a beast unlike anything you've ever seen lurches forth. In its wake, a shimmering powder that quickly fills the stale air.

"Cyclops?" You gawk, before it sends you skidding backwards with a powerful fist to your face.

As you land, you notice Kiara, slumped on the floor, clutching her head.

We shouldn't actually need to move Kiara, since as I understand it she's not properly substantial. I take her physical interaction with us and the environment to just be simulated, either purely visually or through exerting force when she hits us, say.
Us, however, we need to get the fuck out of there. Hopefully while shooting the ugly fuck.
    >> Papa-N !!z0ABcqUnNAP 04/16/12(Mon)21:42 No.18745748
"Well fuck you too. you dick." You grit your teeth as you stand back up. Kiara toughening you up seems to have done just that. The beast has forearms thicker than your torso, by any right, that would have killed you if you were just a regular guy.

With little time to debate, you do the only thing you can think of and level the Sig. Working the trigger fast, you send a flurry of .357sig at the beast's singular eye. One round connects and the cyclops bellows, furious, batting at the air around it as it searches for you.

As the monster fumes, you dash toward Kiara and scoop her up in one arm, continuing to shoot at the beast as you head toward the more narrow tunnel. The cyclops will be too large to follow you through it. You hope.

The witch in your arms hangs limp, eyes closed.

"Kiara!" You shout, giving her a shake, to which she doesn't react.

You set her down on her back and shake her again, trying to rouse her.

    "Idiot... Your skin..." She groans.

You realize that there is a lot of silvery powder clinging to you, which is the issue here.

Hastily you begin to shake it off, using your shirt to rub as much off as you can. With each brush and each blow, Kiara seems to perk up a bit. After a few moments of hurried activity, she's at least sitting up.

"I certainly hadn't expected THAT!" She snarls, looking tired and now VERY aggravated.

"Pretty nasty trick, yeah. You alright?"

"No. Thankfully it wasn't a large amount, but it's still draining my power."

Desperately thinking for a few seconds, you remember a bit of what you learned in school. Drills like the ones used down here are water cooled. Sure enough, when you shoot one of the large hoses, it spews out a jet of ice cold water. Despite the frigid temperature, you quickly hose yourself off, doing your best to rid yourself of any residual platinum.

"It isn't perfect, but it's good enough for now."

You look back into the area beyond, trying to spot the Cyclops. Only now you see nothing, nor can you hear it.

"Its hiding, and with all the platinum in the air, I can't sense it." Kiara says angrily.

Yeah I was on the campus internet. The connection inside the building is basically nil from the towers, so you pretty much have to. Never get enough of a break to go outside since I'm always scrambling to get to my next class which is in two conjoined buildings with an airway that I go through.

Tried to post from the 3g connection but it just kept failing. Only have one class with a window and its my first one of the day, sucks because its dark in the morning when I arrive and dark when I start to head home.

"So what the fuck is that thing?"

"Exactly what you think it is, a cyclops. I'm surprised there are any left, the Greeks did a number on them back in the day. They aren't exactly people-friendly." Kiara stares out into the chamber beyond, looking for it.

    "Can I talk it down?"

"Talk? To a Cyclops? To the best of my knowledge, which is extensive, they can't even talk to each other, let alone a human."

"If we want back in, can you blow away the platinum dust?"

"Now that I know its there? Yes, that's child's play." Kiara nods.

Which just leaves you with a decision.

    "You're welcome?"

"Now blow out the dust from this wet cave and I'll put my gun to use." You grin as you reload the Sig.

    "..."

With a sigh, Kiara turns back toward the expanse and closes her eyes. A fast wind whips up suddenly, strong enough that you actually have to brace yourself into it to not be blown over.

You can see the sparkling dust being churned up from the floor and blown across to the far wall of the cavern, far from being able to affect you and subsequently, Kiara.

"That should do it, now I can sense it. It's waiting for you to come back into the building."

    "Alright, so I'll just..."

With a flick of her wrist, Kiara brings a large section of the structure toppling down, collapsing columns. You have to clamp your hands over your ears to deaden the sound.

"Thanks for the warning..." You groan.

"I'm tired of waiting, I want to know what is inside down there."

"So did you kill it?" You ask as you follow behind Kiara, still holding your Sig.

"No, I trapped it. I figure we leave it as a parting gift to any Order that come here after us." She smirks devilishly.

"You evil bitch, I like the way you think." You grin back.

Thankfully the entrance has a nice set of large marble stairs leading down. Kiara summons a palm full of fire, which illuminates the narrow corridor. The walls are decorated with faded mosaics and paint.

"Surprised there isn't any Cyclops shit all over..."

"There would be, if this place wasn't as full of magic as it is." Kiara tells you quietly, her eyes darting around in the flickering light.

"So what is this?" You ask as you step into a large, circular room.

All around, staring at you and illuminated from behind, are roman death masks.

"Yeah this isn't creepy as shit or anything..."

"I'm not sure, but whatever it is, I'd say THAT is what it was built for." She points toward a large cylinder basin set into the floor.

You approach cautiously, noticing that the basin is full of water that shimmers in the firelight.

"All of this for a roman birdbath? Color me disappointed."

"I don't think that's just ordinary water..." Kiara says, eying the pool.

"Should I try giving it a drink?"

"Depends, it might be interesting. I've never seen a mortal ingest highly infused magical water before." She frowns and give you a disapproving look.

"Magic water? What kind of magic water?" You ask, leaning in close to peer at it. "Looks pretty damn normal to me."

"Ah, so one would think. " A voice echoes through the chamber, stopping your conversation with Kiara flat.

The water begins to ripple, growing more and more tepid and violent as it rises from the basin. You watch, awestruck, as it begins to form into the shape of a man.

"Not all of us are lucky enough to ascend into immortality, but those without the ability... We sometimes find a way to... Cheat." The water says, actually having formed lips.

"Right, so why are you buried under a dozens of feet of volcanic ash?" You fold your arms.

Maybe we should go find a padre to exorcise these chicas. We can't lay off the burritos forever. They're just too tasty.

Figuring it best to just ignore the voices, keep driving, and hope they go away, you put your mind to task. Cargo isn't going to deliver itself.

Everything is going smoothly, other than Isabella picking on Celia and nagging you constantly. You try a set of earplugs, but they do nothing.

"Yo mang, we got like, company and shit dawg!" Isabella warns, right before the semi to your left draws even with you.

A man in dark shades looks over at you, his face blank, his ears adorned with some really nice shiny earrings.

"Its the policia! The Order mang! Can't this hooptie go any faster mang?!?" Isabella shouts, Celia freaking out without actually saying any tangible words.

To be honest with them, no, your Volvo pretty much tops out at 80 or so new, and this one is far from it.

You see the man reach down to his seat and the next second later, level a PGO 12ga right at your window. You slam on the brakes just in time for the buckshot to miss, but one of the balls bounces across your hood.

"Shit mang! Its no time to like, play around mang! Do something!" Isabella yells loud enough to make you wince.

    >action?

We're in a bigger truck than them, it's heavy and full of shit. Jerk to the left and run the fuckers off the road, no one interferes in our deliveries.

While you aren't known for being violent, at the same time...

No one messes with your cargo.

    No one.

The next second, you draw even again, and the Order hunter looks over once more. But this time, he seems shocked.

Probably because you've slipped on your lucha mask. Which is basically Mexican code for "I'm about to fucking ruin your day, mang." as Isabella so eloquently puts it.

Which is exactly how it goes down.

The Volvo may be a piece of shit in a lot of ways, but its still, at the end of the day, a Volvo. Which means it's more or less a Swedish tank.

You jerk the wheel hard, whipping the trailer to the right, before sending it back to the left violently. The heavy metal side slams hard into the other truck, which is far too light to even have a hope of staying on the road.

You watch through the eye holes of your mask as the man in his truck go sailing off the side, rolling down into the median where it finally stops on it's roof.

"You mang, that was pretty badass. But you're still fat, homes." Isabella pipes up.

    >and I'm turning in for the night, class all day tomorrow and work the evening shift after. Next thread will probably be thursday but I'll post it to twitter when I know for sure.

Still in the present, really wanna finish up this shiner "saga" since to me it's gone on long enough. More flashbacks will happen in future threads though
