1.47 MB TANK WITCHES-Tanks for the mammaries- ROUND 0.5 Panzerhexen !mYedictMKA 04/20/12(Fri)20:25 No.18796931
You are Colonel Katherine Kent of the 101st Panzerhexe Lehr. Commanding witches is tough work, especially when you're one as well.

You are currently ogling your new Churchill IV infantry striker, watching as engineers finish preforming maintenance on it, watching them slowly slid the frontal plate back over the magic-engine. With a few metal on metal scrapes, the engineers get it back together. The closest one sees you out of the corner of his eye.

"Ah Colonel! We just finished. Coming to take a look?"

You freeze, trying to think of a response...

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but our magic actually causes these things to hover a few inches in the air, right?

Could we then, hypothetically speaking, use bursts of magic as a kind of jetpack to provide brief spurts of vertical lift?

And if we can do that, does the magic hovering put us into a nearly frictionless state with the groun?

    "So where is the qm?"

"Probably fighting a hangover at her desk." The young engineer replies as he packs up his equipment. He turns and tells his co-workers that they should get something to eat. "Wait!" he shouts as his fellow engineers turn to leave. " Which cook was it this morning?"

"The ger..." you get out before you are cut off.

"Let's go into town for some grub then guys. I don't want a liquid breakfast again." He turns his head back towards you as he leaves. " It's all ready if you want to take it for a spin Colonel. Just try not to break it yet, we just got it."

Before he is even halfway to the doorway, you take your boots off, climb up the bay's ladder, and slide into the strikers. you hear the magical engines roar as they are pumped full of magical juice. With practiced efficiency, you equip your body armor other assorted gubbins, and lug the giant 17pdr over your shoulder.

There is only one option when driving a bipedal version of a 51 ton tank.... And that is to see how fast you can make it go! You dismount your new metal legs from the bay with an audible clank and feel the ground under your feet.* You walk outside, and the midday sun is shining bright, just how long where you in there drooling over your strikers?

Once your eyes finally adjust, you see several ground crews readying spitfires in case of alien air-raids, pilots being pilots nearby while the ground crews do all the work, and not much else. RAF Moreton Valence is a short drive to Gloucester, and some naval base is not too far down south....

It's the retarded puppy of WWII tanks. It's stupid and useless but I can't help but feel a bit sorry for it. It just looks so dumb that you can't help but have a twinge of sympathy for it, but you'd never ask it do anything important.

    >>18797751
Get a look around the base, try to find good areas for combat exercises. Hills, interesting cover, ambush spots, places where our girls are encouraged to utilize creativity and ingenuity in their tactics.

As much as your subconscious screams at you to hip-check the quartermaster, your inability to get bloodstains out of your dress uniform prevents you from carrying it out...

As you tread out into the field, you finally get a good look at the base. Some hangars, a control tower with an attached complex, and a few independent buildings here and there. The countryside isnt much better, being almost all field, with a few trees kicking around

You switch the striker to "skate mode". The soles of your feet get slick as the striker generates something that makes your feel slick, you aren't a scientist! Even lugging around the 17pdr, you can manage to top out at a decent speed, your speedometer on your breastplate seems to cap out at around 30km/h, not bad for an infantry tank.

Eh. If you do watch the show don't take it too seriously, it's supposed to be over the top bullshit but I find it funny at times. Anyone that tells you otherwise was probably expecting something more serious than what they got. Or can't stand the panty-shots every 5 seconds during fights. I get past that by blasting Amon Amarth, Dragonforce, and Sabaton during them though, works just fine.

If you look into the Light Novels, though, you can "tune out" the pantyshot aspect since it's almost all text.

The first Soumus Misfits novel is finally fully translated on Baka-Tsuki... that's about it for the official stuff. However the Desert Witches storylines from the doujin series are actually pretty good and are pretty much completely translated if you look around for them. While the Art and Writing are done by Firstspear, the character designs and storylines are collaborative with Fumikane so they're mostly canon.

    >Historical inaccuracies

Honestly, the only major one is that there are chicks flying around with planes for legs and no pants. Everything else is pretty gorram accurate.

Anything that is out of place otherwise could easily be explained by the nations of the world pooling their resources to kick alium ass. For example, Hitler and Himmler getting eaten (and Goering getting shot by Udet) allowed sane people (Doenitz and Speer) to be put in charge of Germany, so their logistics have been returned to "non-stupid" status. Same with Japan, and the IJN deposing the IJA as the junta in power.

Just wait until the end of the thread, and the archivalfag will post the current archive of everything posted so far, including all of the quest posts, the historical timeline, and all of the various writefaggotry and drawfaggotry.

Well, my only qualm was said before by panzerhexen, who exclaimed that the character unequipped a 17pdr (presumably the 76.2 Firefly VC varient) and then exclaimed that it was "... not bad for an infantry tank." Which presumably means an Infantry support tank, which the VC was not. I also saw mention of a Churchhill mk IV which IS an IST, and so the AVRE which was also mentioned.

Sorry, I'm sure I'm looking at this out of context and me stating this is stupid but it's just something I noticed, call it my retard-strength OCD from school kicking in. So if not, I'm sorry for causing a stir.

As you get closer, you see that her friend isn't only wearing pants, but blue Luftwaffe shorts.

    "Good morning Captain and...?"

"Oberleutnant Manfred, Mobile AA gunner from 5th Company Ma'am." The man with the Luftwaffe outfit says, as he salutes. Wittmann follows suit.

"Sorry about earlier Colonel. Knispel just frustrates me, how can somebody that good in combat be so lax...?" She trails off. "Oh did you need something?"

"Yes, where is the sodding quartermaster? I have to get an answer from them, about why we have one of those blasted M3 freak tanks in our motor-pool."

Manfred pipes up. "Her office is near the briefing room, near the control tower."

Giving them a cheerful wave, you head towards the control tower, a slight smile on your face. For a pair of Krauts, they weren't half-bad.

The original idea of the Substriker (something more like my shitty sketches) is the test-bed unit. ADF's substriker design is going to be the first production model unit. Before this time, as far as I'm concerned (and know), Substrikers did not exist, as the technology wasn't there.

nah, im not talking about substrikers. the I-400 class was a class of subs designed to carry 3 little airplanes to bomb shit ever so ineffectively. with the existence of striker units, such subs could be drastically increased in power with only the most minor of design changes (and the considerations that putting teenage girls on a sub full of dudes would bring)

Truly, these are dark times; you can remember field-kitches near the rat-infested trenches serving better grub than these Kraut cooks. Still, it would be much wiser to yell at the quartermaster with a full stomach and not some paltry liquid eggs and tea. As you enter the mess hall yet again, you spot a few witches you haven't seen before. By the kitchen, you can spot fixings for tea and a lot of little sandwiches with the crusts cut off on a large plate by the kitchen. Deciding that anything is better than liquid eggs, you grab a plate and a fistful of sandwiches and head over towards the unfamiliar witches....

nah, ive tried to keep up with the sub-striker stuff as best i can while not participating in the IRC. other than my issue with their operating at depth where they'd constantly have to keep low-level shields up to keep from getting crushed, it seems like a good idea.

and yea, the addition of striker-unit equipped witches on a sub like the I-400 would at least double it's combat potential, especially since a striker+storage is maybe 1/2 the space of a real airplane, so double the offensive power

You'd be surprised at what pressures the body can acclimate to. Besides, WWII subs couldn't go spectacularly deep anyway, afaik. I think the Gato-class could only do 350ft.

The fact of the matter is that Human subs have some massive constraints.

I think the Martians would be slow to reach for the deep, given their complete lack of oceans back on Mars. According to Planefag they've only just started experimenting with a proper wet-water fleet, for instance. I don't know how advanced their sub tech is, but I think that's a decent indication.

so, i'd assume at least for the moment, that their subs cant go much deeper than contemporary human subs, but the problem is once they figure it out, i'd also assume that their metallurgy would allow them to go deeper and faster than their human equivalents. if that happens, you've got either witches with 10-minute combat endurance or witches with crushed lungs
    >>18799633
although i see what you're saying, airflow =/= water pressure at depth, especially if the aliums figure out how to operate deeper than say...400-500 feet

admittedly, in the channel/the north sea these depth constraints aren't much of an issue, but once you get into the atlantic/pacific oceans, if the aliums can go that deep then we've got a problem

Crushed to death is instant, drowning is not. Just throwing that out there.

Still, I can see subwitches working. How long they can stay underwater is limited by how long they can keep their shields up. It's shown (in the anime, at least) that air witches can hold their breaths for a long time, so air isn't really an issue for them.

the sub-witches have oxygen tanks for air stuff, so that's not my concern. from what i've heard (and this is all second or third-hand), drowning is actually a relatively peaceful way to go, because your body gets flooded with endorphins. I'll take that any day over being crushed by water pressure. I'm just not sure it's an entirely feasible concept without either magical "batteries" or something of the sort...(then again, there was a scene in the anime where they basically went into space, so maybe i'm overthinking things?)

"I hear she's a rather foolish one. She went and ordered some M3s for the battalion when we've got good Panzer Vs and VIs available; I didn't even know we still had M3s. I've got no reason to complain as long as she keeps my ammo in supply, though," the German parawitch says, eying her two witch colleagues. She sighs. "Looks like your sandwiches are a lost cause. I heard the Quartermaster is still waiting out her hangover in her office. If you're looking to make an...inquiry...you should strike now while she is still weak," she says, knowingly.

The USS Tullibee in my story is based off of the real USS Tullibee, a Gato-class submarine. It sank in 1944. And yes, they were named after aquatic creatures.

Here's a little taste of the story:

Commander Brindupke lead Kukyendall around the ship, showing off the various minutae that separated the Gato-class submarine from the others. The USS Tullibee was a specially-constructed Gato, with enough modifications that some suggested she be categorized in her own class. Of particular note was a 5 meter extension to her length, housing a pressure compartment. Brindupke guided Kukyendall in for a look.
"And here we have the Ambient Pressurization Chamber. This is where you'll be sleeping before your missions. To help dealing with the large amounts of pressure you'll be experiencing in deeper dives, we have you ladies acclimate overnight." Commander Brindupke walked past the next bulkhead, gesturing to Kukyendall. "Here are the launch tubes. Slot right in there and we can seal the tube behind you, flood it, and send you on your merry way."

"...You seem to be right about the sandwiches," you note sadly. Your stomach will have to wait for later. "I suppose I'll make that...inquiry...now." Nodding, the German witch turns back to her fellows, smiling to herself. You get up from the table and make for the exit, grabbing a sandwich on your way out. Quickly munching as you walk, you make your way to the quarter masters office. You reach the QM's office, and with a loud thud, the door swings neatly open after you kick it. Once your eyes adjust to the darkness of the room you go to shout at the idiot who ordered M3 tanks for your battalion when you realize that you recognize those mammaries....

    2 weeks later...

We finally got some fresh meat straight out of OCS, and shiny new gold wings. I haven’t gotten close to any of them except for 2nd Lieutenant Cooper, and that’s only because he got assigned to be my wing man. He can be an annoying little shit, but he doesn’t know better. Hopefully he’ll survive long enough to. Considering what happened in my first engagement though, I doubt it.
    “First Lieutenant Smith!”
Speak of the devil. I can almost hear Cooper making a precise salute within those very words that would make even the most hardassed of drill instructors nod in approval. Parris Island obviously still lingers in his mind. “First Lieutenant Mills told me to get you, sir. Major Adams wants us in his office, as soon as possible, sir.”
I look away from the art I’m painting on my Hellcat. Some pilots would let ground crew do this. Not me. I have the literal magic touch when it comes to art. I can’t paint the Mona Lisa yet, but I’m coming damn close. As it is, I’m finishing up the last touches of the King of Spades’ two heads in minute detail. An Ace of spades, an ace of clubs, an eight of spades and an eight of clubs have already been finished. Nothing but the King and a name for my bird is left to paint on. Reluctantly, I step away from my plane, and follow Cooper.

“I thought you weren't an ace, sir,” he says, as we walk towards the building that can only loosely be defined as administrative. Adams isn’t one for paperwork. Or talking to a specific flight. This isn’t a good sign. My paranoia begins to rise.
    “I’m not.”
    “Then why the cards, sir?”
I sigh. “It’s the dead man’s hand Cooper. Aces and Eights. Don’t you play poker?”
“No sir. Gambling’s a sin, sir.”
“Then let me enlighten you. It’s the hand that Wild Bill Hickok was holding when he got shot. That’s how it got the name.”
“Why are you using it then sir? Seems like bad luck.”
“Back in the states, just before I shipped out, I won a lot of money off that hand. To me it’s very good luck.” And I might need some of that luck before this war is over.
Cooper seems to want to ask another question, but doesn’t as we enter Adams office. Mills and Arbor are already sitting in a pair of chairs. Adams looks like he needs one hell of a drink. Cooper and I take the other two seats.

“Alright. Might as well just get it out of the way,” Adams says, taking a deep breath. “You four got transferred. Orders just came in this morning. I have no clue why, but you are all being sent to St. Agatha’s Island.”
“Is this some sort of joke sir? Nothing there but a Sparkle base,” Mills asks, frowning. He starts to twiddle with his Annapolis class ring.
“This is no joke. Christ, I wish this was just as much as you do Mills,” Adams says. “Supposedly, the transfer is for ‘Added security’ for the witches. Sparkles must be spooked due to that sortie we intercepted. General MacArthur or one of his staff seems to be behind this, from what the Lt. Colonel told me when I asked him the same question.”
Dugout Doug. Figures. Army pukes are trying to cover their asses if shit hits the propeller. Son of a fucking bitch. Brotherhood won’t like two of their own in on a witch base. It risks our discovery. We just don’t have a choice though. I tune the rest of the conversation out. There is just so much shit going down right now, that no one could have seen this coming. England is under siege, the Missouri Hive may get aggressive at any time, Europe is in shambles, and now, the USMC and Navy’s secret society is under risk of exposure. I can see why “May you live in interesting times” is a curse in some places.

You know, all these fics have male fighter pilots being shipped to Witch bases for some reason or another, and I can't help but think that the army is taking advantage of the martian invasion to break the witches out of their traditional isolation.

I see we have some history buffs in here. Say, why did they call planes back then stupid things, like Enola Gay? Were awe inspiring names not invented yet?

It's a common theme to get the story moving.

Just coincidence since it's easy to blame it on brass, but it's funny considering how many times people fall back on it.

He apparently died before getting to it. Which caused Minna to forbid unauthorized contact between male personnel and the Witches.
No idea if a similar order exists in other units.

As for the girls never getting any, remember they are 13-18 years old. Guess men back then were better at rejecting their advances than today's.

That "they lose magic when they fuck" thing was probably just tossed in there to keep the girls WAIFU PURE.

Because honestly, the whole show was designed by the worst type of basement dwellers. Planefag and the rest of the SW Project crew has treated the franchise with more respect than the creators.

History Channel is only interested in things that go boom.

Which is a bit appropriate to SW now that I think of it.

The SubStriker Unit was supposed to have an onboard communications module, but I wasnt sure about including sonar to the mix.

History buffs, how mobile was sonar tech back in WWII? Because if it small enough that a magic-version (shrunken) sonar could be placed inside the unit, or as a Pack Addition

Unbelievably low. I remember years ago when I was in highschool, I'd wake up 6AM and they'd be running "Tales of the West" or something, with that sad intro from that indian chief, and that beautiful trumpet solo.

Now it's guys buying things and WW2: All Day Erry Day.

depends on what kind of sonar you're talking about. passive hydrophones (aka listening for stuff) were meh size, but the equipment necessary for active (aka ping ping) sonar was relatively large. in all honestly, hydrophones would be a stretch to equip on witches, much less the active stuff. it'd probably be better if they relied on sub-sanyas instead

The big problem is that radio communications are severely hampered by water; they don't travel well through it. I'm assuming magic radio can travel no problem, but conventional shit has more trouble.
