    Spider Quest time!

Sup/tg/ contains the earlier threads under the spider quest tag.

    1d4chan page on this quest:
    http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Spider_Quest

You are a little female jumping spider named Bibi currently living inside a hole in a tree, with your mate Dorpou, your eight young siblings, your newborn brood of spiderlings and your pet centipede Isaac.
In addition to your family, the hole also is a home for old spider named Ranou, who agreed to let you stay there, a honorable warrior ladybug named Andor and a light headed parasitic wasp you befriended and named Chyrsi "Bubbles" McTitty. You also managed to convince the massive ancestor worshiping dragonfly you captured to work for you, who you then named Kahless Nidhogg.

In the last session, you made the second delivery of nectar to the bees, only to end up in an attempted ambush by them.
After kidnapping one bee, 321 and interrogating her, you discovered that the bees had a plan to eliminate the wasp threat.
They wanted to get more of the intoxicating nectar that you have access to, so that they could poison the wasps with it.
After breaking off your deal with the bees for the moment at least, you returned home.

In there, you had to face some domestic problems, mainly the fact that one of your younger siblings, Webby, had too much energy, so she kept pestering the other residents of the hole.
After chasing her around a bit, and scolding her, you decided that the best way for her to went her steam would be tacking along with you.
You and Webby climbed to the top of your home tree, and found a strange object with many colors.
As it seems frail enough that you can cut it with glass shards, you sent Webby to retrieve one.

    >How this works.
Suggest an action and then depending how feasible it is, the spider will act.

You are just an ordinary spider in moder day earth. You have no special powers, other than your intellect.

Making silk costs proteins, which you can restore by eating. Your mate has his own protein reserves. You both have currently 100% if your reserves.

You can upgrade your nest with silk.Your nest currently has the following improvements:
    >Small rudimentary web nest:
    >Storage chamber
-35 units of food, 0 chitin plates, 3 metal shards, 1 chitin armor, 2 unfinished chitin armors.
    >8 slingshots.
    >Trap webs near the base of the tree.
    >Expanded Aphid pen.
-5 aphids. Can hold up to 10 aphids.
    >Warning web at the entrance to the tree hole and warning lines.
    >Drop down net attached to the ceiling at the entrance.
    >Reinforced sticky webs at the entrance.

There is also a bird's nest which contains all kinds of stuff.

    Your current skills:
    >Efficient web architecture.
-The protein cost of your silk structures is reduced by 5 units. Structures costing 5 units will still cost 1 unit.

You also need to feed your family.
Your siblings, brood and Isaac combined require 15 units of food per day. They are fed for this day however. You and Dorpou require 4 units of food combined.

You are currently gazing over the world you know from a tree branch.
Webby is returning with the glass shard.

    Aw.

I don't think Kahless was trying to piss her off. He just needs some coaching.

    To Bubbles: "Wait here."

Let's drag Kahless aside for a chat. It's nice he noticed her and all but he needs some batter suggestions. Maybe he should study her. A fine warrior can always use some study time to good effect. He's got a magnificent opportunity here.

And for ancestors sake compliment her curls.

    Something along these lines.

    >>18988018

Yes pull Kahless over and tell him to apologize, and that that will have a great deal of effect on making this go away. Also we need to tell him to learn the differences between insects, as if we build an army he needs to be able to identify who is on which side.

You pull Kahless aside and tell him that he should probably apologize her.

"What? This whole argument is absurd. I mistake her for an ordinary wasp with no allegiance to you, so I tried to eat her. I only recognized her due to her voice. One can't forget that annoying sound.
Why should I apologize when I didn't even do anything to her? She looks like the other wasps, if anything, she should mark herself so I won't make this mistake again."
    >> Anonymous 05/05/12(Sat)13:35 No.18988145
Well Kahless, maybe you should /nicely/ suggest some sort of body paint, and you should still compliment her antenna
    >> Anonymous 05/05/12(Sat)13:36 No.18988147
"Not apologize, just compliment her. It's good to know about the vanity of a wasp, a weakness they may all share. So you've learned a bit about potential enemies. This is not easy but the more you sweat in peace the less you bleed in war right? It's all worth it to study one up close. And thank you for not stomping her."

His suggestion to mark her's not a bad idea. Anyone have a suggestion on how to go about this?

We should try to right it and if we are not able to or it is to dangerous, we should at least spy around a bit to stay informed what exactly is going on and if danger is aproaching on the horizon.
So spy on the bees hive I say. Maybe...and that is a big maybe...there is still something that can be done to befriend the bees. Well or at least save 321. You return to your base with the green stuff, store it away, and then start a council regarding the movements of the wasps.

"We have gone over this before", says Andor.
"The defenses of the tree hole, although improved, are still inadequate for deterring a full blown wasp assault."

"The scarecrow project is going splendidly. With the new materials you brought here, I can probably finish the full blown version within few weeks, assuming the wasps don't attack first", ads Ranou.

"The wasps, like don't really care about spiders, I think," says Bubbles, "They like to steal from the bees and stuff, they usually don't bother others, unless they want to be mean, which is like kinda often, so they like actually do bother others all the time."

"I have nothing to say here, that hasn't already been said" Dorpou says, "Although we could make our nest larger and sturdier, so that if the wasps invade, we can retreat inside and defend ourselves from there."

Kahless lands and inquires you about what you are discussing.
You inform him that the topic is the recent wasp activity.
You also ask if he saw something suspicious during his hunt.

"Yes, I actually did. I saw the wasp swarm flying from the bee fortress back here, that is actually why I returned this swiftly. So that I might inform you about this, but it seems that you noticed them without my help. The bee hive seems to be unusually inactive right now. I couldn't see many guards or gatherers flying anywhere."

You ask Ranou about other spiders and how to gain their allegiance.

"Not easy. Spiders are loners. You and this setup you are building is quite an exception. Though you might gain their aid if you provided them with something they want. In my case, that is food an company, but I am quite old my self, so I have developed my own quirks that can't be applied to all other spiders.
It might highly depend in the individual you are asking.
As for where to find them, think where you would hide, that is the best advice I can give to you."

You also bring up the topic of the strange new material.

"I already told you what I can tell about it right now. I need some more time to figure out the rest of it's properties. Recovering the rest of it should be done though, I think that this material might be truly revolutionary for our construction efforts."

"I want that we make bows from the other colors as well! They would look so cute!"

"You want to waste valuable material on such trinkets? What in the world is wrong with you?"

"Well, it's not my fault if you don't want to look pretty, but I sure do! It wouldn't like take much of the stuff anyways!"

Andor, while being skeptical about the armor, seeing how he already has quite mighty one, is somewhat interested in weapons.

"The reach of my attacks too shot. You saw it when we first met. I couldn't defend myself against the faster and smaller ant bastards. Had I had a weapon that allowed me to kill creatures from larger distance, I could have fended off the damned ants."

We have a choice at this point:

    a) Jet. The bees will eventually be fine, not our problem.

    b) Tell Kahless to wait unless the wasps or something come back then head back to the tree. Shall we explore a bee hive?

( question to OP ) Thing is - if the wasps fed them the smak didn't 321 say they poisoned it? If that's not the case the bees will recover and there's nothing much for us to do here, except leave a calling card?

But we're not 100% sure of exactly what effect it has and in what dose and .. this sure is a hell of a lot of bees whacked out for what we gave to them. Maybe the wasps did something more?

We're kinda screwed here guys. The only other thing I can suggest is to nab a wasp and interrogate.

Or take one walk to the end of this hive and back. Remember the bees are hostile to us mostly so they won't care why we're here.

Call it a run when you're ready and we'll all be here next week.

Seems a couple of people decided to pull out for sleep now anyway, break here. It's cool we'll pick it up next week.

Consensus seems to save them so I'll take that to heart when I jump in next time I see it.

    See you next week.
