You're awoken after your short nap by a page from XO Ambrose on the Jakarta's bridge. It seems that the time has come for your debriefing. You are to report to the briefing room on deck 3. It's located behind the Jakarta's CIC.
You're expected to report in the next 20 minutes, it should only take 5 to get there.

[ ] Go straight to debrief
[ ] Drop in on Karrigan
    [ ] Talk to a squadmate

You should have some free time afterwards as well assuming you don't wish to rest further.

You find Karrigan in her quarters, already hard at work on the tech recovered from the field.
"Oh! Hey Geronimo! Dude you gotta check this tech out, it's like nothing I've ever seen!"
You walk over and she loads up a diagnostic on her Omni-tool, a tiny projected image appears.
2 shields appear to be surrounding the user.
"Ok so look the left is our shields, and the Geth shield is on the right."
Your shield looks completely normal while the Geth shield seems to be fluctuating, seemingly spinning. Both shields are hit from a burst of small arms fire from off-screen. The Alliance shield pops and the armor underneath is dented while the Geth shields seems to knock the bullets away and the remain although appear thinner than before.
"The Geth shield seems to knock away the bullets rather than just allowing them to impact, it's genius, but I don't understand how they manage to get the field to oscillate like that. I'll need more time to figure it out...or do you think I should turn this over to the Alliance, this tech is incredible and could really help us out in the field. But it's extremely valuable, I'd hazard to say we could revolutionize armor with this tech."

We're doing later, I had to nerf charge hard, Vanguard or not it was letting you guys breeze through encounters, I need to get you guys more bogged down and thinking tactically. Using cover, strategic powers, more gun-play (which is why they got nuked pretty good) etc. Something to bring challenge and livelyhood to the combat.
You will start seeing major improvements soon and yes, I am very interested in your input.

Depends on how you decide to roleplay it, nothing is set in stone. There is no right choice, only a different choice. You could always sell trade rights to the Alliance for a tidy-profit and do both. Free-form is free-form. That's the last tip you get from me though.

"Hmmm, well I guess you're right, no promises on the not blowing you up part though. If I need a guinea pig and you're it." Karrigan beams at you then quickly shuts out the world and delves deeper into the device with a renewed vigor.
You doubt you'll get much more out of her while she's got that thing.
You have a few minutes left.

Isn't that kind of the point of Charge? When I recommended Rennick in the first place, I'd counted on the fact that Charge regenerated the shields--thus, the "nigh invulnerability" that he got as a result that made him such an effective infantry buster.

Though, that's just me. You could always go the ME3 route and let the Charge refill more shields as we get better at it. No reason it HAS to fully recharge shields at level 1.

    Alright then!

You find Brigg's quarters with ease, looks like he's bunking with Harris as they're both relaxing and knocking back a few beers. They seem to be watching something on Harris's omni-tool.

This is the first time you'd had a chance to look the two of them over, once you're in armor most people are pretty hard to tell apart. Harris is an older guy who seems like he's seen a lot, there is some wear and tear on his face, his features droop a little but you can practically sense the biotic potential that oozes from the guy. His eyes are still fierce even dulled by the alcohol.

Briggs is a bear of a man, a short black mowhawk runs on his head, and he has a look that could scare an alpha varren away from a meal by sheer intimidation alone.
He has his share of scars as most vanguards do but the man has an intensity that is scarcely found anywhere, even in the military in this day and age.

"Hey kid, grab a beer, we're just watching the highlight reel!"
You recognize Brigg's charge on the Geth and his splitting of the giant Geth in half with a Nova.
"SHIT NOW THAT IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! WHO NEEDS ACTION HEROES, I AM ONE MOTHERFUCKER!" Briggs yells before he shotguns another beer.
Harris can only shake his head and take another sip.
"So, what's going on kid? You look like a man on a mission." Briggs sputters out looking you over.

"I have a debriefing in a few minutes, I can't stay too long but if you guys want I'll be happy to grab a few beers later." you tell him.

"Ah, heard about that, well Commander Sardis was looking forward to talking with you, my debrief went ok with the exception of Rodriguez, he was still ultimately my responsibility even if he was temporarily under Haskill's command. Reckless to change line-up in the middle of battle, yada yada. I just pointed out without you may have all bit it to those husks and that seemed to justify me. After all losing one man is better than a squad or two. Math of loss you know? Damn shame about Rodriguez though, We're gonna drink later in his honor too if Wendigo would like to join us." Briggs looks at you expecting a commitment

"We just might, I didn't know him well but he seemed like a good guy." You reply

    "That he was..." Harris adds

"Oh, and Briggs, would you mind giving me a few pointers on my Biotic techniques? You seem like you've had quite a bit of experience and Biotic trainers are hard to find in the Alliance military."

"PSH...Get a load of this guy? He kicks a fucking tank to death and he wants lessons from me? Eh what the hell, your nova and charge are still pretty rough but I'll tell you what, ask again when I'm sober and I don't have to worry about you charging a hole in the hull and I'd be happy to show you a thing or two." Briggs replies happily.

"Hey check this out" Harris waves you over and you see Geth tank explode as you walk away.
"I gotta admit, that was pretty badass, I was worried if my barriers could take a hit from that thing but you solved that problem." Harris gives you curt nod and resumes drinking.

It's about that time, you decide to bid them farewell till later and head to the briefing.

    >Choo, Choo, all aboard the plot train. This railroad has no additional stops between it and the station.

You make it to Deck 3 and the briefing room just in time.

You open the door and walk into the breifing room to see Commander Sardis and Captain Nguyen, the Jakarta's CO, sitting at the briefing room table. You snap to attention, "Corporal Rennick, reporting as requested sir!" you state as your eyes wonder the room. You can see combat footage from the battle on Eden Prime. Some of this footage looks familar and on the largest screen is you charging the Geth armor on the hill, the ensuing explosion, you destroying the mutated humans with a Nova strike and you performing life saving operations on the red-headed woman playing in a loop.
You eyes flick back to the command staff.

"At ease son, you may have a seat." Commander Sardis finally acknowledging your presense.

"So, a lot bears explaining, mostly how none of this footage seems to be doctored B-movie garbage.", a small smile flicks across Captain Nguyen's face as Commander Sardis says it, "I guess we'll start with the initial landing. You took on Geth Armor single-handedly and managed to not only cripple it but to wipe out an entire Geth squad solo. That's a hell of an achievement son. How about a compromise, Charge wasn't thought of till ME2. Bioware realized they needed a way for Vanguards who are Shotgun and SMG users to get close. Nova was ME3 as the Vanguard needed to do something for multiple enemies.

Let's say that L2 were capable of doing the charge and nova. However it'll be weaker overall as the amp wasn't designed for that in mind.

This would please the Illusive Man to "nerf things" in order to "make it more interesting" in his words. L3 your able to do it a bit stronger but on the upside surgery to replace an L3 is a lot less riskier. L4 was prototype for L5 which allows stuff like the Biotic Gernades and full potential of Charge, Nova, and a Biotic Punch which hits for as much N as your charge but takes a lot out of ya.

I wonder are they ever going to release an official ME p&p? They sorta did for DA.

"The Villa is unlike anything you've ever seen, dozens of square miles of training facility all set in lovely Rio. Though from what I hear most recruits don't have time to enjoy the scenery." Captain Nguyen informs you.

"Training is typically 6 weeks of intense training, 20 hour days, constant combat drills but you come out of it chiseled out of wood. As for the Geth we're mostly doing clean-up now, there is the occasional Geth Patrol but we have numerical superiority, it's only a matter of time. We're waiting on orders from Fifth Fleet as we speak, honestly I think we're hesitant to go into the Veil, we don't know what we might find waiting for us, not enough intel, not to mention this is the only world that was attacked and we've yet to determine why." Commander Sardis informs you

I'd personally accept the offer, assuming we can bring our squad with us. It makes us a better soldier, teaches us a great number of skills and give us the authority to go where we're most needed and get the best equipment possible.

We should however talk to our squad about this before we make any decisions.

Actually I was gonna hit archive and let the rest of the thread be discussion of the future.
I need to reinforce this now. You are Rennick, his path is not a straight line. I will make a plot no matter what you decide. Leave the military and become a pirate? I'll roll with it, decide you have feelings for Briggs? I'll roll with it.
I only ask you act with something resembling a plan and motivation for doing so.
I'm giving you a hook for a possible plot line but you by no means have to accept the hook.
I'm curious for you guys to decide what experience you want as a whole and to start working towards that.

I'm tired and was wanting to roll again in the morning. So when I wake up we'll start up again, deal? Just take some time to mull it over and talk amongst yourselves.

I'll also answer any questions I find in the thread either by phone or in the morning.

    Also voting is up

Actually in game, Vega hasn't began his N training. When invited and passes he's N1. It doesn't say how long they train for, but it's 20hrs a day for 5.5 days. Then probably anywhere around 14-16hrs for the other training.

Should take from N1-N7 about 2 years.

    1) Do we have feelings for Briggs? *S-stupid Vanguard. I didn't do it because I liked you or anything.
    2) Are we attached to our team on a personal level? *Yes
    3) Are we willing to into N7 and Charge where no Vanguard has charged before, even if means no more old friends? *Yes
    4) Paragon or Renegade? *Paragon
    5) What is our backstory? *Colony Born, Sole Survivor

You feel the response will be positive, it's the opportunity of a lifetime.
Completing the program would pretty much guarantee you could handpick your squad.

My plan was actually to have Geronimo head off on the training and maybe us go back and forth between Karrigan and Briggs for a session to help flesh out their characters and the supporting casts stories.

Maybe a couple of "encounters" during the ICT Program but nothing plot relevant. Just mostly to see how you're taking to the training.

Give us a break from Geronimo and focus on something other than our Biotic freight train.
That way when he comes back he's taken a level in badass, we can maybe toss a couple ranks in, and continue the plot from there.

But once again, that's up to you guys

The Alliance has the Corsair and it could be possible to become a Spectre. I'm throwing a little bit of the ETA out the window. With this being 2183 the Reapers are set to arrive in a little over 2 years. However I have a spanner in the works to delay them by a couple more years, namely them starting out a little further in Dark Space, they will await our character development those bastards. I'm interested in this timeline because it's the one I know best as well and the universe doesn't specify what kind of tech was there even the year before ME1. So I'd rather homebrew newer tech and than older tech.

    I've been playing only 5 years. I've been DM'ing 3 years sporadically.
My style is mostly free-form, I hate getting bogged down with stressful writing and rail-roading.

I was just hoping you guys could write your own backstory for Geronimo. I'm assuming he's Native American. Geronimo was an Apache. That also likely makes him earthborn, possibly on a reservation.

Focus of the backstory could be what made him want to go into space? Did he have family in the Alliance? Did that make him wish to serve his country? Maybe his ancestor was a Windtalker during WWII and his family has served it's country/planet ever since.

You guys tell me. Something else to discuss. I'll roll with Karrigan and Briggs but Geronimo is all your guy.
