You keep sawing through the first bind, using a fair amount of concentration to do so. You’re not entirely sure of what you’re doing, but it looks like it’s working, so you don’t really mind. "Who says I'm a subject?"

Walking over to another table, Richards picks up a small hand drill and starts to spin it. “The man who captured you and strapped you to a table, you moron.” Looking around the room, there’s only one door out, and it’s got two guards positioned next to it. No doubt there are more outside.

"So were you behind that black ball and that spy that was following me?" Is there anything else around here…. Dammit, no. "Because I’ve got to say, that guy was sneaky. I bet he's in here right now. Of course he did wear that same creepy mask as Blaine. Guess it’s a fashion thing now."
Richards looks at your incredulously and bursts into laughter. “HAHAHAHA! Just what the hell are you on about, boy? Did the gas melt your brain a bit?” You’re almost done with the first restraint…

You start to saw on your other arm. "I should say the same to you, herr doktor.” You roll your r dramatically. “Why are you kidnapping people off the streets and performing...whatever it is you're performing? Human experiments? What's your game, Richards?"

He walks over to the cabinet full of virals. “Science is not a game, child. Progress is inevitable.” He pulls one out and reads it. “Blaine claims to revere progress and ingenuity, and yet he limits us, the true visionaries.” He puts it back and pulls out another. “He wastes my time. Time that could be spent researching and experimenting instead of uselessly testing animals.” So he’s a madman. That’s good.

Commune with the shadows, try to actually talk to them instead of manipulating them, tell them that go time is real soon, that we're going to go into action real soon and we're going to need their help for this one.

As for dealing with the new Josef Mengele over here, when he gets close we're going to want to hold him hostage, with a dagger in the neck far enough that removing it will make him bleed to death, that might give us enough leverage to get out. Besides, if you transform a mouse into freakish creature from Hell, you can put it down. But do the same to something big, and then you get a monster tearing throughr the city. This guy’s starting to piss you off with both his stupidity and his elitism. You’ve had enough of both in this city. "Why not just go elsewhere and experiment?” You’re halfway done with this restraint…

“This is the alchemical hub of the world! I couldn’t get materials like this elsewhere, child, nor would I have so many assistants or subjects at my disposal.” He continues to peruse the vials. “Really, it seemed obvious to me.”

You wrench your face in anger. "So you put people's lives, the very lives you swore to enrich, in imminent peril by doing these untested experiments? Maybe Blaine has those protocols in place for exactly that reason. How many other people have sat on this slab that I'm on, Richards? How many have come before me? Where are they now, Richards?"

You’re running out of time. He walks over to a book and opens it, writing something down as you break through the second bind. “Many. Most are dead, some are here. And why do you get so worked up, boy? Each failure is a step closer to success- look at these guards!” He strides over to one and puts his hand on its chest. “Beautiful behemoths, aren’t they? It is a quicker route to the greater good. Some men would kill one to uplift a thousand. I do the same.” He turns back to you. “Only it’s a hundred instead of one. Mathematically efficient for the time saved.”

He looks at you, eyes emotionless. “Your skills intrigue me. You will make a fine assassin for me, boy.” Loping over, he grabs your face with his hand. “I will break your body and rebuild it. I will shatter your mind and construct my own in its place. You *will* be mine and you *will* do as I say.” He smashes your head into the steel table, breaking your concentration for a moment. Stars flit across your vision. “There is no other way.”

You don’t have time for this. With a clench of your fist, shadows extinguish the flames of the chandelier above, throwing the room into darkness as your fist turns into a massive hammer made of the darkness.

Your work is swift and merciless. You crush the knees of every single man in the room in under a quarter of a minute. It’s not nearly as difficult as you think it’d be. Dispatched, you head into the hallway, hell-bent on killing Richards. The path is lined with cells, each with a different human experiment in it. Some look normal, if a bit deranged. Some look like horrendous amalgams of flesh and bone. Some cells are empty. Rushing down the hall, a bun of brown hair catches your eye. You stop for a moment to look at it.

In one of the cells is a girl in a red dress, hair pulled up in a brown bun, blue eyes blankly looking at you.

So quick question. Our amulet of ward fear.is that magically induced fear or fear in general?

If the girl here is to scared of Dick here to leave (although this might not be the case at all. She could be drugged and have been experimented on, to get her powers in the first place) I say we give it to her.

I should have phrased it better.
I mean, will we risk it and try to free her and get her help BEFORE we go after Richards? Since we do not know how she will react or if she will help us. Heck, even if she is not loyal, it is possible that Richards has some hard-wired commands placed in her mind to obey him.

Of course after we deal with him, we wont just leave her here. We will certainly come back and free her and other prisoners.

It is a good upgrade. I don't know Sifu since he has not been my master but I'm sure the grandmanster of an Assassin Style will prefer practicality over stubbornly sticking to some ideals. This is not a 'noble' style, remember that.

Going by my rpg experience, direct upgrade to stats is always better than money reward. So we should take it.

Besides, Sifu lost that privilege when he left us with next to no information. He set us free to pursue our own path. His lessons are over and he should not be punishing us for taking our own decisions anymore.

Jesus Christ, you do like to overblow things, don't you? I'm sure that Shun is at his physical, mundane peak. Only by supernatural means will he be able to go above it.
