    The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and you never asked for this.
Once a generic white-collar worker who lived alone save for your cat, you were hit by a car and spent three months in a coma.
You awoke to find that your unconscious body had been taken in by the corporation 'Emulsified Electronics', and implanted with an experimental augmentation. You soon found that it allowed you to control electronic devices with your mind. And if Jun's theory is right, your power is only going to grow...
At almost the same time, it came to light that the company called Cadmium Dynamics had hired a PMC, ArmaTek, and started to mobilize against EE. However, you and your companions have been almost too much for them, defeating them at nearly every turn.
Just after you thought you had a breath of fresh air, a new corp showed up, mostly utilizing some kind of stealth technology. After coincidentally finding one of their agents, they named themselves Kawasagi Infinite.

    >Abel Rowling: Your coworker\drinking-buddy. Used to be your roommate years ago before you got him a job at the place you worked. He's currently hiding out in a safehouse, and apparently was trained to be an Agent.
    >Jun Viridian: The 38 year old neuroscientist who implanted you with the prototype, and from what you can tell, was the one who designed it. With your help, she has her son again.
    >John Grayson: A security specialist and agent who works for EE. He has implanted forearms and broad shoulders. He used to be military, and you currently owe him a favor.
    >Verne Tolstoy: A quiet, overweight man who used to be a cop. Most of his internal organs are all augmented versions, and he has an augmented arm; Ever since a mishap with an EMP, he's been unable to do any kind of mercenary work.
    >Amy Tolstoy: A teenage mercenary girl with neon hair, augmented legs, and a wrist computer full to the brim with random AI constructs. She has all sorts of strange friends. Now works for EE as a researcher, technician, and agent. Is somewhat keen on Dave, but he's just starting to realize that.
    >Azure, Onyx, and Cyan: Your bullfrog's three onboard AIs; Cyan specializes in networking, Onyx specializes in combat, and Azure bridges the gap between them. After an intense integration session between Azure and an enemy AI, Azure had changed.
    >Mark: The mechanic who works for EE in B-4, building and maintaining the gear of all Agents. He's a capable pilot and has saved your skin multiple times. Has a strange love for mechandrites.
    >Lucas and Lucca: Two sibling agents from another corporation. Lucas is some kind of 'goddamn ninja', while Lucca is a high-strung agent with a Gen-3 implant.

"Wait, wait." Amy said. "We're really going to screw with the military? Last time I did something like that, it was like kicking up a hornet's nest. Not to mention they're the governement."
"You're right." Grayson said. "It's probably not a good idea. If we even get out alive, we'll probably be hunted down."
    Then he shrugged.
"What's the mission parameters?" You ask.
"Assassination. Jacob Gideon is a man that needs to die. However. . ."
    "However?" Amy asked.
"He's being escorted by heavy armor."
"Do you have any kind of plan in place?" You ask.
"I talked Jun into constructing an jamming device. She called it a 'McGuffin Mark 1' for some reason. Essentially, it will keep you from being seen- you'll be detected, but they won't be able to tell who you are. It's your job to wear the mcguffin and engage the enemy armor, serving as a distraction while I draw a bead on Gideon. Once I take the shot, then you can get out of there."
"What, there's no place for me in this plan?" Amy said, raising her eyebrow.
"I didn't account for you. . " He said. "We only have the one mcguffin. . Unless you cover his retreat after I take the shot. I know this is a bad idea. .But I'm still going to ask. Will you help me?"

There's a strange light in his eyes.
"What did you want me to do to them? Do you want me to give them power claws? I'll give them power claws. And I can revamp their engines, and probably throw in CD's synthetic muscles. "Any way you could throw some guns on there?"

He said, using some kind of welder to tear the armor plating off and get to the thick cables on the inside. You roll your neck from side to side, slightly sweating from the exertion. Amy's sitting there, lost in thought.
"Let's go find Grayson." You say, and she looks up.
    "Okay."
You call him and tell him you're ready.
"Very well. I'll meet you in the parking lot." He says. By the time you get down there, Grayson's there with a small orb and a ball of cables, and his car. . it doesn't look like his car, actually. It was a nondescript black van with no plates. "Here, Dave." He says. "This is the Mcguffin; you should just be able to put it inside your helmet and it will work."
"What was the plan again?" You ask, as you get in the car and install the device.
"Pretty simple; you distract the heavy armor, I draw a bead on the target, and then once the target is down, you bug out."
"I can run overwatch." Amy says, sitting up. "I have the gear for it." She says, patting a large green duffel bag you hadn't seen before.
    Grayson nods. "Good thinking."

Grayson gives you a strange look.
"Yeah, it should be doable. All you need to do is distract, after all. Tear apart a few vehicles, rampage around with your mechandrites. . The heavy armor mostly has a really thick shell around the cockpit, so you should be able to do without penetrating them."
"What kind of heavy armor are you guys going to be facing?" Amy asked.
"Mostly mechs and tanks. The mechs are a bit more common, being lighter and faster, but the tanks are really powerful and pack a punch. With how much armor you have, Dave, you should be safe from small arms. .But don't get hit by any of the cannons. You'll end up missing limbs."

<We've been over this last time we were here.> Azure said. <We're at the CD crater, and there's nothing below we can ascend from.>

"I believe the best plan." Amy says. "Is wait until Grayson gets into position, and then just do that rocket jump maneuver you like so much, leaping into the center. They won't be able to fire at first, afraid of crossfire."

In the distance, you see the assorted mechs and tanks sitting there, mostly inactive. One of the mechs' cockpits are open while the pilot is snacking on something. Infantry guards patrol the perimeter, carrying gauss weapons of some kind.

Amy's obviously out of her league here. She's been a mercenary, and that leaves little room for romantic experience. Let's take things slow for now. Just give her a hug and tell her that we'd like to think about us that way as well, but we're not going to force her into anything she's uncomfortable with.

"Yeah, I'm honestly not sure what the fuck the nuclear handgun is myself. Y'see, my favorite Slavic merchant told me it operated on nuclear fission principles, BUT, he didn't elaborate on where. It operates on gauss & railgun tech, so presumably it has a nuclear battery like something out of Fallout. But hey, the thing might also be firing tiny atomic shells. And maybe the electromagnetic propulsion is assisted by a fission reaction in the cartridges, propelling it like a tiny version of those Project Orion nuclear rockets. I'm going to be honest, I haven't looked into the workings of it enough to make a definitive statement, but it's pretty cool and goes bang real nice. Amy made or helped with a lot of the rest of my equipment, so she'd know how they work. Nobody knows about Future-Van Co.'s CEO. Nobody knows anything, save for they're female.

    But. . I know.
    I've. . seen things.

The head of Future-Van Co. is a small, fluffy white cat.

    Named Ishelda.

    Cool.

How many rockets do we have on our rocket mount? And how many salvos can we shoot till they are empty?
And how powerful is the shoulder mounted plasma cannon?

perhaps a humorous side quest for one of those days that Exabyte can't think of anything else to do.

    a beginning to the DAVEmobile

any artists or engineers out there want to run something up in the way of pictures?

In all seriousness, can we have a side quest one day dealing with Future-Van?

Like, we're walking back from work one day and a fully autonomous black van with a red stripe on the side pulls up to us, and we here a robotic voice as the side door opens by itself.

"No time to explain, get in the van."

Well, we probably should get a van of some sort, something nice, bulletproof and inconspicuous.

You know, we really need to use Epona some time, we have a battle mech and we haven't gotten around to fucking people up with it.

There are around fifty or so miniature rockets in the rocket pod; you can fire 12 at a time in 'storm' mode, or one at a time in 'targeting' mode.
The plasma cannon is nowhere near as powerful as the javelin, but it's essentially a miniature version of it; still small arms fire, but a bit stronger than the drones and their railguns.

    something like pic related?
but wider, with more spikes, and more armor, and more dakka, and more blood red paint so it goes faster, and...

    >Not very long. it can be fired relatively quickly; once per second or so. You can, of course, overcharge it, but that involves melting the cannon entirely.
