    The year is 2025.
Your name is Dave, and you never asked for this.
Once a generic white-collar worker who lived alone save for your cat, you were hit by a car and spent three months in a coma.
You awoke to find that your unconscious body had been taken in by the corporation 'Emulsified Electronics', and implanted with an experimental augmentation. You soon found that it allowed you to control electronic devices with your mind. And if Jun's theory is right, your power is only going to grow...
At almost the same time, it came to light that the company called Cadmium Dynamics had hired a PMC, ArmaTek, and started to mobilize against EE. However, you and your companions have been almost too much for them, defeating them at nearly every turn.
Just after you thought you had a breath of fresh air, a new corp showed up, mostly utilizing some kind of stealth technology. After coincidentally finding one of their agents, they named themselves Kawasagi Infinite.

    >Abel Rowling: Your coworker\drinking-buddy. Used to be your roommate years ago before you got him a job at the place you worked. He's currently hiding out in a safehouse, and apparently was trained to be an Agent.
    >Jun Viridian: The 38 year old neuroscientist who implanted you with the prototype, and from what you can tell, was the one who designed it. With your help, she has her son again.
    >John Grayson: A security specialist and agent who works for EE. He has implanted forearms and broad shoulders. He used to be military, and you currently owe him a favor.
    >Verne Tolstoy: A quiet, overweight man who used to be a cop. Most of his internal organs are all augmented versions, and he has an augmented arm; Ever since a mishap with an EMP, he's been unable to do any kind of mercenary work.
    >Amy Tolstoy: A teenage mercenary girl with neon hair, augmented legs, and a wrist computer full to the brim with random AI constructs. She has all sorts of strange friends. Now works for EE as a researcher, technician, and agent. Is somewhat keen on Dave, but he's just starting to realize that.
    >Azure, Onyx, Cyan, Magenta: Your bullfrog's three onboard AIs; Cyan specializes in networking, Onyx operates your teleportation device, Magenta specializses in combat, and Azure bridges the gap between them. After an intense integration session between Azure and an enemy AI, Azure had changed.
    >Mark: The mechanic who works for EE in B-4, building and maintaining the gear of all Agents. He's a capable pilot and has saved your skin multiple times. Shares your love of mechandrites.
    >Lucas and Lucca: Two sibling agents from another corporation. Lucas is some kind of 'goddamn ninja', while Lucca is a high-strung agent with a Gen-3 implant.

I don't want to rip her out, it might kill her and we have no clue how much we want her dead yet. See if we can disable her communications with the gunship drones and put them under our control so we can just fly this whole thing back. That might have been easier if we didn't rip the roof off. You try to slam the end of one of your heavy 'drites into him, but he slips around it, grabs it, and . . pulls, in some kind of move reminiscent of a judo throw.

You find yourself flailing, having been thrown, and slam into the ground, your armor scraping against the rooftop.
He fires another shot, at you, and your power shield sparks one last time.
    <Shields are down!>

You close your eyes, and then focus. . .

The power suit he's wearing has no kind of core, you notice. In fact, it's a stretch to even call it a powersuit. In truth, it's more similar to a. . full body augmentation. It contains little circuitry, and instead of a power core, it's powered by the agent's own bioelectronic energy. As you focus, you find that it isn't very difficult to shut down- not for you, anyway, so you deactivate the entire suit. He freezes up and falls over, his entire body rigid.

    Guys.

Why are we fussing so much over the corporate politics? If KI really cared about diplomacy, then they wouldn't have shot one of our agents. We'll get our answers one way or another, but there's no reason to dance around this issue. They shot one of our agents. A massive shitstorm has been caused. The situation can hardly worsen.

We are not a twinkle-toed diplomancer motherfucker, though we don't shy away from diplomancy now and again. We're prone to brute force over finesse. Either there's a misunderstanding that lead to someone getting shot and the someone with the gun getting his ass beaten, which I'm sure KI would understand, Abel was being an espionagey fuck and digging too deep again and KI decided the best way to handle him was to shoot him with faggot drones, not realizing that EE's band of agents doesn't take kindly to its own coming under fire, or KI was just pulling a preemptive attack to be cunts, meaning we've taken away one of their weapons. We'll sort it out.

Explain the situation plainly. Abel was shot, we responded by neutralizing the threat, because they shot us, too, when we had only come to his rescue, and came at us with swarms of drones and three fucking stealth gunships. The threat happened to be KI agents, and we're still not certain what exactly ignited this shitstorm. So we're going to put this stink out.

Right, What am I. I don't completely know.

I know that my brain is killing bits of itself to make room for expansion of other parts, it's specializing and growing and changing.

My spine is taking over for the bits my brain no one wants to do, I'm pretty much meshing with the machine. It's kind of a scary thought honestly, I still feel completely human, still have all my emotions intact but it's still weird as hell.

Alrighty then. Cell 8, huh? Either they're a bunch of elite types or the cleanup crew too incompetent to do anything but pick up a naked dude. Since we're not going to be caught unawares by their dickass dartguns again- speaking of which, have Azure try and synthesize an antitoxin so that doesn't bother us again- and will be fully armored, they'll be buggered unless they have some serious tech with them. And since they're 27 guerrillas who practice luddite assholery, they aren't going to have jack shit that could disable us.

We could bug out of here. Or we could sew up the asshole's gut, bind them all to their chairs in a discreet enough manner, and then leave them there to be found and ambush the cell. I'm all for making a trap, we need to know who these cunts are and do our best to break them of their idiotic dogma if possible.

No need, really. Our consciousness, as far as Exabyte has said, is the same as it was. We aren't in a Star Trek teleporter dilemma or anything, the Bullfrog functioned as an extension of our brain and then became it when our real brain couldn't take it anymore and popped like a balloon. I'd say we might be more vulnerable to electronic attacks than if we'd kept our brain, but... Our mind, Dave's mind, is an organic computer stored in a synthetic format. I think that makes fucking with our brain virtually impossible by the means one would use to affect a biological brain or a synthetic computer, because we are wholly unique.

So. If we decide to stay in Bullfrog, could we be immortal as long as no damage comes to it? Like, if our head gets blown off, or we get shot in all our major organs? Could we just have the bullfrog removed from the body and strap it onto something else and control it (like a mech for example)?

We should put that booster system on our drites. Then they can snap around at bone breaking levels, and since they're mechanical we can build it to engineering specs rather than human body safety levels.

Well this new thing with our brain is going to really force us to reevaluate the nature of sentience. Given that we have literally everything of our brain in the bullfrog we are going to have to come to term with the fact that all we are is a pattern of information that interacts with the outside world. As long as we remember that we love our cat, like BLTs, remember our friends and our feelings for Amy. As long as we keep that in mind, or Bullfrog as it may be, we ought to be able to do this.

Grayson: Overclocked gauss rifle, Heavy power armor, Railgun revolver
Amy: Power shield, Dragon's Breath, Knife, gauss uzi, shitton of explosives, Roller legs, Overcharger legs.
Abel: Customized headset, Handgun, computer stuff.

But can't it be slightly modified? I mean, I can't see why our techies wouldn't be able to do that... Or would he lose protection if he does that? If so, then he'd need to choose between more firepower or armor.
    >> Exabyte !SIL6URyblU 05/13/12(Sun)00:23 No.19085993
    >>19085942
Essentially, yes. The difference between the medium and the heavy sets are that the heavy sets contain enormous, rigid plates, while the medium has a larger number of smaller plates attached to the outside of the suit. In rough and probably incorrect terms, it's like the difference between plate armor and scale-mail. Upgrading medium armor is easier because you can just remove a plate or two to make room for the upgrade, but if you try that with the heavy, you'll end up removing a lot more armor.

Grayson's actually quite fond of his current dakka. When he's not working or beefing up security, he spends most of his time with Mark, further customizing it, and the rest of his time in the training room, learning out how the customizations mess with it's performance.

It's a great piece of dakka I admit, it's modified to the gills and amazing, especially for long ranges. But having a chaingun to cover midrange/horde combat or just to spray bullets everywhere would be nice and something to help him closer up if it comes to that.
