"I don't understand, how could it have possibly been that hard to find it? It was the only evil creature left in the entire district." Destamona asks.

"In the same amount of time it took me to locate it, it jumped. It was everything I could do just to keep the trail." Hitsito defended.

"He performed admirably. None of us thought it was going to come to this. But I stand by him, and by our decision." Dowjin adds.

"The Fiend was going to jump again... Who knows who it would have targeted next? We wouldn't even know until one of us wound up dead. I know its hard to bear, but there's a lot of ugly things to winning a war. And its not going to be the last time, either." Daies speaks firmly to his sister.

And that was why we blew up Neverwinter.

Like so many of the stories in this particular arc, its extremely hard to condense ten years of gaming into one cohesive tale.

To help guide you along here's a timeline, each arc lasted about ten character levels:

    >Crimson Blades -> The Formian King -> Pantheon of Twelve -> Evening Star -> Chaos -> Overtime

This story begins during the Evening Star arc.

This is the story of Hitsito. A hero who never made it to the New World. He gave everything for us, and in my darkest hour, gave me the tools to rally comrades new and old. Without him. I wouldn't be here now, telling you about how the New World was won.

Once upon a time, when the Alliance was still newly formed and the tyranny of the Pantheon of Twelve had just been put down for good. There was a great and terrible prophecy, about great and and terrible demons.

Little did we realize then, that the dominion of the Pantheon was the lesser of two evils. For countless generations, their wards had held at bay a being from the primordial world. One that used to be one of them. The exiled, thirteenth member.

It was during this time, that Hitsito, Daies, and Dowjin, had fortified the borders of their dwarven allies. Aecus Rockbiter and the mighty guardians of the dwarven halls would have none of the world's troubles. Or so they boldly claimed. The Crimson Blade had been destroyed, and its remnant converted into Alliance soldiers.

The power vacuum of the lost Pantheon spawned many wars which consumed mighty nations. We realized we needed more than just footsoldiers. We needed eldritch powers that could swing the tide of battle.

We needed Daies' sister, Destamona, and the legendary Angel Wing razor.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/12/12(Sat)20:30 No.19083564
Who else but Hitsito, jumped at the chance to recover such a valuable artifact?

As a gentleman and a scholar, Hitsito analyzed many a dwoemer, and rendezvoused with top Alliance sages, unwravelling the mystery of just exactly where the ancient kingdoms had been; which previously entombed Daies and Destamona.

He journeyed to the west, across bitter oceans and through humid jungle. Gaia's many guardians came at him in the Wilds, but one by one the Lengendary Animals fell under his blade. While roughed and thrown about by their boundless might, in the end he slew them and made his way towards the prize they had been protecting for endless ages.

The forest seemed to glimmer, in a surreal way, only it wasn't an illusion. Rather, the ground he tread upon began to crunch and crumble, and as he ventured under a massive willow's canopy, he reached out to touch one of the branches.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/12/12(Sat)20:46 No.19083742
The entire place had been crystellized. Fascinated, he moved deeper, and found the Vampire woman. Normally he didn't consort with creatures of the night, but Daies and Dowjin had both vouched for her.

She was suspended upon a cross of shimmering roze quartz. A claw like protrusion seemed to be impaling her through the back, and out of the front of her chest. Within its claws rested the vampire's heart.

Within her hand, clentched the Angel Wing Razor. Immovable by the magic that held her in statis, lest he brought her back to life.

So he broke the enchantments which bound her, dispelled the entire area, blanketed the region in wave after wave of Dispel Magic, until no shred of the holy conjuration remained. The crystal shattered, and immediately tendrils of flesh wrapped over Destamona's heart and drew it back into her chest. Her eyes snapped wide and she screamed, lunging at where once her captor must have stood in her final moment. Only now, there stood Hitsito.

    "OH GAD"

He screams jumping away from the deadly blade. There was no defence against that perfect edge. It could cut through anything, and surely it would have sheared through him like a hot knife through butter.

Calming her, he mentioned that her brother was sill alive. That got her attention.

"Take me to him now! Before you lose something -really- important."

"Look, I came here because we need your help. I'll take you to him, but put the sword down. We need you to solve this old prophecy Dowjin's been talking about."

Bringing her back to Shivan De`Harren, and the palace, there was a great parade of honor for the return of the Lady of Pain. Controversy began to fester within the cliques that frequented the court, about the type of people the Alliance took in, even giving them positions of leadership.

Daies and Dowjin spoke to their people, comforting them, assuring them that the trials ahead were bigger than any of them individually, and how finally, all people, could come to peace under the Alliance banner. It was so idealistic. But we really did believe in it, even more than them.

Destamona's studies, in time, revealed that there were ley lines which had never changed over the course of history, and she was able to trace the key locations where the Evening Star's prophecy would unfold. She mentioned the "Sword Coast" within a Realm linked to our own, and asked for more time.

We gave it to her, as there were many things which demanded our immediate attention.

In the Eastern Isles, a Lord General of Daies' army was swallowing state after state, and in honor of the Blood God erected shrines in his honor. The General, was a Nezumi named Rauntek.

In the Palace however. An argument was forming.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/12/12(Sat)21:40 No.19084409
After all of the work Hitsito did for the Alliance, he didn't feel he was rewarded justly. Rather, he contended, he was treated like an errand boy, while the minute traces of divinity Daies and Dowjin had stolen were never shared.

Daies' snide remarks chipped in at Hitsito's expense, and he seemed to chuckle at the arrogance of the human.

Dowjin on the other hand, was more diplomatic towards his old friend. At least at first.

"Listen," Dowjin said, "Its not like that. You -know- its not like that. I wouldn't have brought you all this way with me unless I felt like I could trust you."

Hitsito huffed. "See? Your saying it again. Its always 'you, you, you'. I came here by my own two feet and the power in my Arms. To help -you-. Now I like what we're doing, I really do, but we're taking this -too far-. What gives you the right to control these people?"

Daies grinned. "Might. Might makes right."
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/12/12(Sat)21:55 No.19084567
"No, Daies..." Dowjin pushed an arm over Daies' chest in a motion to keep him from the conversation. "Its not pride and power, like Daies is suggesting. Its simply what's best. I don't want to see any of them die. I don't want to see any of you die. I'm sick of it all, I really am. I have the ability to save them, and I -will-. We will lead them, and tell the Worlds with no uncertain terms what is coming. Its our way, or death."

    Daies grinned again.

"Not like that! Shut up!" Dowjin retorts.

"I didn't say anything..." Daies remarks.

"No. I don't believe in that at all. We are in control. As mortals. We don't need these powers from on high, we don't need the enemies this is going to bring us. Don't you realize the attention your drawing?" Hitsito fumes.

Dowjin shakes his head. "It doesn't matter. We'll win. And in the end we -are- powerful enough to make it happen."

Hitsito snarls. "Then prove it. Prove it right now."
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/12/12(Sat)22:03 No.19084628
It was Dowjin's turn to snarl. "Fine. Its your funeral. If you demand satisfaction, meet me in the Arena. High Noon tomorrow. I will gather our people for an 'exhibition match' so everyone can see you eat those stupid words."

Dowjin the half-dragon stormed off. Daies the vampire still grinned. And Hitsito the human retreated to his Armory, to prepare for the battle ahead. Ancient beings, monsters and half-monsters, gods and demons.

    It didn't matter.

    He had a plan.

The Arena was a gigantic colosseum. Thousands of people filled the stands. Cheering rose in waves for the entertainment of the day. Many spectacles of might and magic had amazed the crowd all day. But the main attraction was about to begin.

Hitsito entered the Arena through the north gate. Having been ushered by the stewards down the correct hall and waiting chamber for the appointed time. And now he strode out onto the loose sands.

The sunlight gleamed off his neon blue hair, and a great and heavy cape fluttered behind his shoulders. His armor clanked as he made his way towards the middle. The human waited, a shield clutched in his left hand, watching the half-dragon emerge from the south gate.

Similarly armed and armored, Dowjin walked towards Hitsito.

"Last chance. There's a league of difference between what you think you understand, and these powers." Dowjin warns.

"Then show me. Show me you have what it takes to protect these people. Because your starting to sound more and more like the Pantheon." Hitsito replies.

Maybe on some subconscious level, that was inevitable. There were universal laws about the powers and portfolios Daies and Dowjin had consumed. But Dowjin didn't well on any of it. Instead he dwelled on how far he would have to go. Would submission be enough? How far was Hitsito willing to go.

They say. That you never truly know someone, until you've fought them.

And at the cry of the announcer and the expectant crowd, Hitsito came swinging.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/12/12(Sat)22:31 No.19084910
Hitsito's sword flashed fowards with a blinding speed, swiping towards where Dowjin had been just a moment before. But the half-dragon had turned, swatting his blade against Hitsito's sparks grinding between the two of them as Dowjin pivots his hips into a broad swing, spinning his body clockwise and taking a step back as the deadly tip of his sword crashes into Hitsito's side with all the force of an ogre smashing a tiny pebble.

That should have ended it right there. But Hitsito was just grinning. Dowjin slices into the tabbard between him and Hitsito's armor and watches the Wall of Force shimmer.

Hitsito points his shield towards Dowjin and tuggs on a ring pull with the fingers of his sword hand. A bang rings out a shaft of purple non-light bursts from the shield handle in Hitsito's open palm.

    Disintegrate.

A flutter of cloth unspools from around Dowjin's shoulders, an enchanted barrier of rune-marked linen strap, roughly twenty feet long, swirling around his form and dancing. The ray sears away part of the cloth, and Dowjin glares from behind it.

"So be it!" Dowjin roars, thrusting the open face of his gauntletted hand towards Hitsito.

    >Divine Blast

The blinding shine of that holy beam shatters against Hitsito.

    >Emerald Planes

But before the light fades he sees Dowjin leaping forward again on the attack now that his guard was down. No wall of force could have him this time.

    >Force Cage

Dowjin's weapon bangs harmlessly off of invisible pillars of force, but from between them Hitsito aimed his shield, firing the lethal beams which zipped past Dowjin's head. One blew straight through his magical wards, and hit him square in the chest.

Through the contributions of all of our esteemed allies, we made major headway in the war. Many countries were saved, and warped into our realms. Through this our powers expanded, in more ways than one. We had a unified front against the forces of the Evening Star, and though his demons and flying leviathans poured into our reality, we fought on our terms, not his.

Millions were saved. Each and every day. Hitsito was a hero for what he did. We all made hard decisions in the heat of the moment. Everything was so damn terrifying.

I made a demiplane to try and fix things. I thought that maybe I could collect some of the departed souls and restore the life we'd taken away. Make a paradise for everyone. But I could no longer spare the simulacrum to do it. Two, Five, and Six, were already destroyed on mission, and I needed all of them to fuel our spells and Salient abilities.

So we did everything we could do. And we waited for the day of the Evening Star's arrival.

Destamona was a genious. Between the intelligence she gathered with Hitsito we managed to pinpoint the leylines that would be used to Gate him through. Coincidentally, the Pantheon had once built a temple there to monopolize the energy.

    We mobilized against the city.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/13/12(Sun)01:10 No.19086478
It would take days to explain to you the machinations of our war effort. And years to detail how everything fell into place. Suffice to say it was nothing less than magnificent, and every bit of it earned in blood.

We had the fleets of Eberron marshalled in the skies, commanded by Hitsito.

We had the legendary wizards of Faerun enlisted into battalions under the guidance of Destamona.

We had the reanimated armies of Daies.

And finally, the infantry batallions and dragon riders, which I guided.

Everything looked good, our Gates were successful, our Drops were successful, our armies filled the streets of the former Pantheon capitol. Then everything went to shit. Nobody understood what was going on how but we'd severely underestimated the enemy.

Thousands of them were teleporting in from gods-know-where, and the Evening Star took the field just in time to annihilate Destamona with a shot of Divine power.

The skies were exploding all around us, as flaming ships came down. Tentacled aberrants with gnashing beaks, several times the size of Hitsito's ships were spitting rays of energy that cut through their formations like a knife through butter. I heard later that Hitsito had casted over a dozen wishes trying to save us. I wonder how many years of life that cost him?
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/13/12(Sun)01:18 No.19086557
    >>19086478

Things get a little fuzzy here.

See, I died during the charge of the second wave. We established a beachhead into the city, and things were going great, until I heard Destamona went down and her flank was collapsing.

So I go bounding in with my honor guard to save the day and wind up in plain view of the Evening Star just like her. I know my men were making good ground, and that's about the last thing I remember until Daies ressurects me on top of the temple.

He was fighting with the Evening Star, and holding his own. It was everything I had just to get up. I helped Destamona get her feet. The way Daies ducked and weaved was supernatural. But it was the first time we got to see our Enemy up close.

He was a Kaorti lord of some kind. Thin, humanoid. He had tendrils of bladed cloth hovering behind him and around him, attacked to his robes. Probably P.K. magic. Thank fully he'd already used the good stuff taking Destamona and I down, so we stood a chance.

Hitsito hailed us, said he was coming in hard and fast. We were retreating. I thought it was bullshit, retreat meant we'd lost, and we were all going to die once they hunted us down.

But he said not to worry. He brought me a presant.

    So thoughtful.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/13/12(Sun)01:25 No.19086638
    >>19086557

I thrown down a few barriers to cover our retreat, and Destamona blasts the Evening Star with lightening and hellballs. Daies mistforms and starts flying to the edge of the roof.

Hitsito comes screaming in from the heavens, some of those creatures hot on his tail. I think the closest translation in your human language is "blast wraith". But that sounds kind of stupid. You should switch to draconic.

Anyway Hitsito had some wingmen shoot the wraiths down, and brought the deck of his ship to level with the roof. He was yelling at all of us to jump on, and he didn't have to tell us twice.

The Evening Star shattered all the wards I threw down in the blink of an eye. And I was really starting to loose hope. Until Hitsito showed me the presant.

It looked like a large metal barrel, with spikes on it. Only it had a scroll bolted onto it, mentioned explosive runes, dispel magic, and bumble foots. It was over my head, but I understood "explosive" just fine.

So Hitsito threw it at the Evening Star and made best speed for anywhere but there.

    The explosion was brilliant.
    >> Dowjin !!9I4SJG4jQPb 05/13/12(Sun)01:35 No.19086714

I think that's when the Evening Star started to get desperate. Maybe it freaked out because we actually wounded it, because it expanded its Divine Realm, and sucked us all into a demiplane. There were storm clouds everywhere, and they were full of discentegration magic. We were also standing on a fourty by fourty platform, which was the only thing between us and all that magic.

None of our armies were within sight, but gladly neither was the Evening Star's. He drew us here to kill us personally, and we saw the body of a gremlin tear its way out of its previous body. I really had no clue what it was anymore. But it was the Evening Star, and it was trying to kill us, so down it had to go.

Everything happened pretty fast. We were telephoning around each other, charging, blasting him, but none of it was working. Someone had the bright idea of knocking him over the edge and over he went, but he blinked back up.

Hitsito screamed something and jumped on him, kicking him back down, but Hitsito was going too.

I grabbed Destamona and teleported us to him, and then she teleported us back up.

    And then crazy shit happened.

And then we woke up in the Capitol. Only all the demons were gone.

I believe my exact words at this point were:
"screw you, I am taking a goddamn vacation"

A celebration was held. And Drake had a falling out with the Alliance.

But after that, there was an award ceremony.

Previously in the battle against the Evening Star, Rauntek had died, but he was being nursed back to health in the temporary medical ward opened up down in the Vaults.

After years of testing the limits of its prison, Chaos had finally devised a matrix of spells that would free it. Unfortunately it would be stunned immediately afterwards, and also revealed to all of the Alliance dieties.

Lucky for it, there was an unconscious soldier nearby. And through scrying it learned that Rauntek was a very powerful general. Perfect for Chaos' needs. It of course wanted to get close to Daies, for the time-bending gauntlet, and Dowjin, to fulfil an old promise.

So when Rauntek was in the middle of being resurrected, Chaos possessed him, and no one was the wiser.

The award ceremony went on as planned, only our greatest triumph turned into a bitter night of tears. When Rauntek came to collect his medals of courage in front of the assemby, he dropped his Divine Cloak and went to town on us.

Before we could react he'd ran me through, chopped off Daies' arm, and conflagrated the assembly with a fireball.

And that, was only the beginning of our nightmares.

    Indeed!

    It is done!

I think all the major plot points are covered now. That just leaves our Overtime adventures.

I hope that your character was portrayed as adequately glorious?

    Your welcome!

    XD

But probably not for a while. I was a player for the first half of the Overtime game where Daies DMed us.

He threw some heavy punches at us before I took over again.
