You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died.

None of them seem all that important right now, though. Your focus has narrowed to the small copse of trees you’re standing in, the ex-friend of yours standing across from you, and the burly gentleman working for him who’s holding a knife to Avril’s neck.

Jason Souza used to be a close friend, but that doesn’t mean you’ll let him walk away from something like this. It’s not just that he wants a drop of your blood to give to some unspecified but very worrying people. It’s not just that he’s kidnapped the only person at this school you can actually trust, and is threatening her safety to get that blood, and pay off his debts to whoever his backer is.

It’s that Jason thinks he’s in control of this situation. And that’s not something you can tolerate, not right now.

He has absolutely no idea who he’s messing with.

Time to enlighten him.

“You don’t want to do this, Jason. You really don’t.”

“I know, man, I know. This isn’t how things were supposed to go. Believe me, if I had another option... But I don’t have a choice any more.”

“That’s not what I meant, Jason. Let Avril go. You have no idea how badly you’ve screwed up here. Do you know what’ll happen to you if you hurt her?”

He laughs nervously. “Is it supposed to be worse than what happens if I go back and say ‘Sorry, boss, I didn’t get what you wanted’? I’m a little bit low on choices here, Chris. Just... just give me a little bit of blood, and everything works out okay, yeah? No-one gets hurt. No-one has to get angry. You get your girlfriend back, everyone walks away happy.”

[]”You’ve got a deal, Jason. But if you harm one hair on her head, you’re dead meat.”
[]”Let Avril go first. I’m not making any deals while she’s got a knife to her throat.”
[]”Not a chance, Jason. You’re not the one giving the orders around here. Let her go and walk away.”

It's happeding. Also I say we freak out and kick his ass.

Or push his hand. No way he'd get blood out of us if he harms our pet. And I'm sure his bosses won't want us dead.
>>
>>25953708
[] not a chance basically.

Can't we somehow get him on our side and away from his overlords?
>>
>>25953678
>[x]”Let Avril go first. I’m not making any deals while she’s got a knife to her throat.”
>>
Oh fuu-

Option 1 means they get our blood. Option 2 means they get our blood or decide to kill Avril. Option 3 means they kill Avril.

>[x] Let Avril go first.
Maybe we'll be able to escape or something once that knife's a bit further from her throat.
>>
>>25953673
New to this. Recall that Christopher likes mathematics, but nothing else.

What is level of physical fitness?
>>
>>25953678
[ ] You are not hurting her. Or you are worse than dead. *chuckle* Again. So you have nothing to bargain with.
>>

[x]”Not a chance, Jason. You’re not the one giving the orders around here. Let her go and walk away.”
>>
Summon vast phenomenal undead powers. Oh wait wrong system.

Carry on
>>
Like it or not, he has a clear advantage that we really can't surmount. Get the knife removed first, then give the blood, but keep an eye on what he does with it. When we've got Avril we can physically attack Jason using surprise to get the blood and split.

>>25953761
By meta we shouldn't be anything special, these guys can take us in a straight fight for sure.
>>
>>25953784
Will have to improve constitution.

Do not know of relationship with Avril. Assuming close.

>[]”Let Avril go first. I’m not making any deals while she’s got a knife to her throat.”

Of course plan is to attack once she is safe.
>>
>>25953804
Oh, and that last bit very well may fail. We should direct Avril to flee to safety first, and be prepared to bolt.

By meta, the most that can be done with our blood as far as I know is someone can get a free string on us, but that's assuming only core skins. At any rate, our blood is probably the least they'll be getting from us if we don't roll very well on that snatch-and-run roll.
>>
>>25953814
>Assuming close.
Very close. The one person we trust with the truth of our condition.
Also apparently she's a Fae, and her dad REALLY will not be happy if harm befalls her while she's our girlfriend.
>>
>>25953827
If worst comes to it we bargain with him somehow.
>>
>>25953814
>Will have to improve constitution.
That would be volatility in this. And it's nowhere near the highest priority.
>Do not know of relationship with Avril. Assuming close.
She's the quest's premier waifu.
>Of course plan is to attack once she is safe.
No way in hell we can take five guys.

Well, no. Worst is Avril gets her throat cut, we get held down, and instead of just a drop of blood, an entire vial (200mL) gets extracted from us. Then we have to answer to Avril's dad about the hankypanky we've been engaged in.
>>
>>25953851
If worst comes to it we die and get better a few hours later, I'm reasonably certain.

>>25953875
Our darkest self makes us pursue our hungers destroying everything in our way. In this case, the only hunger we can solve that easily is sex with Avril. If we could fight our way to her this wouldn't be a problem in the first place.

>>
>>25953970
if you are gonna suggest something, even if you are basing it on meta, just suggest it. you dont need to let people know.
>>
>>25954008
It is quite annoying for people who have no knowledge of the setting.
>>
>>25953926
You forget our key desire is to be in control. Which we blatantly aren't right now

That's worse, unless you can think of a justification in character.
>>
>>25954019
yes i agree, its annoying even for me despite knowing the setting.
>>
>>25953964
"Meta" is second-level thought. For example, metagaming in D&D is using knowledge from outside the game (like reading sourcebooks/modules) rather than in-character knowledge. Metagaming in Magic is knowledge of what other people are playing, and adapting your decks to meet that, rather than looking at your deck in a vacuum.

Meta in conversation is talking about the conversation. Sometimes it happens to multiple degrees, so there's meta conversation about meta conversation. It's a way of muddying debates.
>>
>>25954026
then it'll just be considered a dumb idea without any base and be ignored by majority. so all is well.
>>
>>25954008
I don't think there's any solution, though. Pretty sure we're outplayed for now.
>>
>>25953907
"Let Avril go first, Jason. Then we can talk. Show of good faith, right? I came here alone, after all. You didn't."

Jason frowns. "Try anything stupid, and these guys will beat you to a pulp, you got it?" He nods to the man holding Avril, and the knife is carefully put away. The goon shoves Avril towards you, not bothering to untie the ropes around her hands or ankles. You pull the tape from her mouth, at least, and she turns and snarls at Jason. "You think you're going to get away with this, you bastard? Your master won't protect you from the Hunt forever."

Jason looks frightened, but he recovers quickly. "I'll... I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Now, Chris." He tosses you a small glass vial with a needle taped to the side. "One little drop of blood, and all of this goes away, okay? You don't need to worry about what it's for. Put the blood in the vial and put it on the ground, and we'll let you both walk away."

[]Give him a drop of blood.
[]Try and persuade him that he doesn't need to do this.

[]Avril is safe. Go for Jason. Beat the shit out of him and maybe his goons won't interfere.
[]Get Avril's legs free and try to run.

One of these.
>>
>>25954057
Well, Avril's still tied so I don't think we can untie her before putting blood in the thing. Let's put blood in it now, say "see, it's here" and then untie her on the premise that we'll leave the blood while taking Avril, but not outright handing it to him. If we're lucky maybe we could get away with it. If we were smarter we'd have some pig's blood or something, but hindsight is 20/20.
>>
>>25954093
((You have no idea. They're just big, muscly thugs who seem to be following his orders. They haven't said anything yet.))

-[x] Then take the vial and pretend you're going to give blood. Then smash it in Jason's face (or throw it at him) and run like hell.
>>
>>25954093
They're presumably goons sent by whoever's after our blood, which means they'll likely be more loyal to that cause than Jason himself will.

OTOH, that means they might not interfere with a fight if they think we'll still give them the blood after beating up Jason.

And they might turn out to be just pals of Jason's, with no loyalty to him or his mystery paymasters.
>>
>>25954057
[x] Try and persuade him that he doesn't need to do this.
Let's roll
>>
>>25954057
Fine you win. But first at least let me know how you came to this. We used to be super close. What sent you down this road.

Maximum persuasion. Learn about him, find a weakness. Stall for time
>>
>>25954057
Christopher needs to learn hand-to-hand combat if he is going to be getting into these situations.

I suspect the men want our blood, so even if we pummel Jason we'll have them to deal with. Untying her is unfeasible.

Pummel Jason. Even if it does not work it will teach him a lesson.

[]Avril is safe. Go for Jason. Beat the shit out of him and maybe his goons won't interfere.

You got a 'qualified success' on your roll to lash out at Jason, which means you have to pick one from a short list of negative side-effects. You're currently inflicting 'harm' [damage] on Jason. The first option means that you'll suffer harm as well. The second option means that he gets a String on you - the ability to manipulate you emotionally, to spend at a later date. The third option triggers your Darkest Self - you'll focus on feeding your Hungers by the most direct and violent means possible.

Being in such a state really isn't a good idea when we are outnumbered by people bigger and stronger than us.
>>
>>25954589
It seems there's a lot of confusion about the mechanical side of things here, so I'm going to spell things out in slightly more meta terms than usual.

Option 1: You suffer 1 harm - enough that you'll be bruised and bloody, but not enough that you'll need to go to the hospital. That's also how much harm Jason is currently suffering.

Option 2: Jason gets a String on you, which he can spend later to impede your efforts, inflict a problematic Condition on you, or expose you to extra danger in various ways. It's more of a long-term thing than the immediate 'harm', though.

Option 3: You become your Darkest Self for a short while, destroying anything that gets in the way of feeding your Hungers (for control, and for sex with Avril) and feeding relentlessly. This ends once someone restrains you or fends you off for a short while - long enough for you to regain your composure.

I'm also going to extend voting time a bit so people can take account of this in considering their votes. If you want to change your vote, please link to your previous post for ease of counting.

Jason tried to trick you and trap you. To order you around. He tried to take Avril away from you. She's yours. How dare he?

You punch him over and over again. His face is a mess. Your fists are covered in blood. One of the thugs tries to pull you off Jason, and you lash out with a vicious punch that nearly takes his jaw off. He falls to the ground. The rest of them scatter as you get up, stalking towards Avril. There's a dark, thick string of pleasure and Hunger running through your mind. It feels so good to feed it. You just can't get enough of that sweet feeling when someone kneels before you, completely in your power.

[]"Avril. Bind them to me. They're never going to challenge me again."
[]Rip Avril's clothes off. You have more than one way to feast, after all.

[x]Rip Avril's clothes off. You have more than one way to feast, after all.

The mooks could be, and Jason is, indebted to someone of quite some power. Taking these mooks away from them would constitute a hostile act, and could get us deep in trouble.

And messing around with promises with a Fey could be even more dangerous when Avril's dad finds out.

>>
>>25955160
A Fae binding contract, as Avril explained it, requires that we give something in exchange. That's the danger in asking her to bind people for us.

As for the sex, that's one of the Hungers that we have, and unless someone holds us down so that we can regain our composure, we CAN'T resist our Hungers. And there's no time limit.

[x]Rip Avril's clothes off. You have more than one way to feast, after all.

Actually, feeding in general is good. Also, benefits are outweighed by consequences. You understand that bad things happen, right? And you do not see the possible downsides to either of those arrangements?

Keeping in mind, Avril's promises are basically contracts. Something of equal value must be paid in order to receive. If you don't pay, bad shit happens. SUPERNATURAL BAD SHIT.

THE WORST KIND
>>
>>25955254
Binding the thugs requires that we offer something of worth in return, as well as risking taking resources from whoever Jason owes his debts to. Such an action would be considered hostile and make us more than just a target for a valuable resource.

As for binding Avril closer to us, that will bring the ire of her father down on us, a Fae who may or may not be a noble.
>>
>>25955307
What exactly counts as payment?
>>
>>25955217
In light of the reciprocation thing, I'm gonna change my vote to ripping Avril's clothes off.
>>
>>25955356
Too late now. You should have considered it when it was mentioned earlier >>25955200
>>
>>25955329

Well, usually, I think Fae deal in favors or tasks (which can be bad) but might also involve periods of servitude, or some manner of cash payment. Think of every nasty faerie story you've ever read or heard of.

I don't know what exactly would be of equal value, but we'd at least be trading that we'd have to look after and protect our new "vassals" I'm sure. Or pay them shitloads of money or bitches or something. Whatever they feel is the price for loyalty.
>>
>>25955394
In fact, I guess it will have a net value of zero control gained.
>>
>>25955394
You also have to take into account any previous bindings or debts they might have, especially if they're not actually Jason's thugs but thugs belonging to the entity that Jason owes a debt to.
An entity so fear-inducing that Jason is willing to bring the entire fury of the Hunt down on his head rather than face the consequences of non-payment of his debts.

Avril is standing in front of you, still looking a little shaky. She's wearing a plain T-shirt and a knee-length skirt in a checkered pattern.

Those won't do at all. They're going to get in the way.

You grab Avril by the neck with one hand, and take hold of her skirt with the other. A quick pull rips it right off her. "Chris? Chris, what are you-" You ignore her, taking her T-shirt next and pulling it off, tossing it aside. Her bra and panties are quite conservative, simple and white. They're in the way too. It takes no effort at all to leave her naked and confused, thrown to the ground. The ground is fairly soft under your knees as you kneel over her.

You need complete control. Complete power. You pin her arms with your hands, hold her legs to the ground with yours. She whimpers softly as you undo your trousers.

***

It's much darker now. You look down. Avril is scrabbling at your chest, pushing you away. You remember feeling good. Full of power, overflowing with it. You remember how good your anger felt, how good your pleasure felt. Over and over, taking control, taking pleasure, taking everything from her and never letting go.

You're not quite sure it was worth it, though. As you pull back, you can see tears staining Avril's cheeks. Her breasts look slightly bruised. She crossed her legs and covers her crotch with both hands, still sobbing a little. "Chris? Chris, that's enough, no more, please. Please. No more."

What are you going to do?

You take your shirt off and try to cover Avril up with it. She's still covering her crotch with both hands, but you manage to at least put it on her like a cloak, covering her chest and reaching down to the top of her thighs. She brings her hands up enough to clutch it around herself.

Putting one arm under Avril's knees and the other under her shoulders lets you lift her easily enough. You've gathered up her T-shirt and used it as a makeshift carrying sling for her torn skirt and underwear, and confirmed that the vial Jason gave you ended up smashed on a tree root. The thug you decked seems to have gotten up and dragged Jason away at some point. You're not sure how long you were lying there with Avril.

You carefully carry Avril out to the park bench, sit her down on it, and try to haltingly apologise. "Avril, I... I'm so sorry. I don't know what to say to make it up to you. I'm starting to see what you mean about bargains - whatever happened to me, it's left me with these impulses, these hungers. I just lost control."

You try to soothe her bruises a little, but she flinches away. "Chris, can I... can I just go home, please? I'll... think about what you said. I don't know what to think at the moment." She takes the bundle of clothes from you, and gets up. Her face looks fixed and blank.

Darkest Self doesn't stop when its Hungers are fed; it only stops when someone stops us and prevents us from feeding our Hungers.

We might be able to get away from the first meeting by avoiding anything that could incriminate us, but considering the bindings that he's put on his daughter, I think he's thorough enough to ask her for a complete accounting of what happened (if only to find out who the kidnappers were in order to exact vengeance) and then the truth of what we did to her will likely come out.

"Avril, if you're going to walk home, would you like me to walk with you? Just to make sure you're safe."

She laughs a little nervously. "To make sure I'm safe. No, I'd really rather not, Chris." You sit on the bench, watching her walk away. She's walking slightly stiffly and a little bow-legged, but she holds her head high.

You sit on the bench for a while, looking up at the stars. Is this what you are now? A monster, doomed to lose control? Are these Hungers really in charge? They run so deep... and feeding them feels so good. Is it really a loss of control if you *wanted* to give in? You remember the feeling of power and control flowing through you. Then you remember Avril's tear-stained face.

What are you going to do now?

You concentrate, forcing the visions into clarity. How can you help Jill? What's the next threat from these people that want your blood? And how is Avril doing? What's going to happen between the two of you now?

You get a flash of Jill arguing with her mother. The windows of the room they're in are rattling and shaking, as if in a powerful wind.

Another brief vision of Jill, in a lovely red dress, with yourself in a suit on one arm and Avril in a white dress on the other, walking somewhere, the three of you laughing together. Jill's hair is different, noticeably longer - this must be quite a while in the future.

Two visions, side by side again: you talking with Jill, just outside of the main school hall. There's music and dancing inside. She's still in that red dress, you're in a suit, and the two of you are talking together. In the second vision, you're outside the hall again, kissing Avril passionately. Jill walks out of the hall, sees you both, drops her drink and storms back inside.

The visions move and shift. You see Jason, holding an icepack to one side of his face, the other side bruised and swollen, his nose clearly broken. He's on his knees before something enormous and, even in silhouette, distinctly inhuman. Someone walks up behind him, and he flinches a little as a hand touches his shoulder. It's Isabella, and she's talking to the thing Jason's kneeling before. She reaches out her hand, and a long, slimy tentacle comes out to shake it.

((Cont.))

>>25958045
Your next vision is of Avril, curled up on her bed, still wrapped up in your shirt. There's a tall, older man sitting over her, gently stroking her hair. Enormous, many-pointed stag antlers spring from his head.

You see Avril again, at school. She's sitting on the grass, toying with a daisy. You see yourself walk up to her, stop a little way away, and talk with her briefly. She nods and smiles, a little sadly, and you walk away. Avril stays where she is for a little while, plucking petals from the daisy, then gets up and walks out of view, in the same direction you went.

You're sitting in the school library, across the table from Avril. She's writing something in a notebook, and passes it across the table to show to you.

You see yourself in a clearing in a forest. You don't recognise it. There's a massive oak tree before you. The horned man from your earlier vision is standing in front of it. Slowly and carefully, you take off your shirt and then walk towards him.

The visions end.

You ask your mother if she'll let you help with sorting out the food for Jill's party. She's happy to have an extra hand, and you make some quite nice cookies, broad, round ones filled with chocolate chips in the American style.

School on Monday is a little awkward. Now that your project is sorted out, Isabella doesn't sit by you, but you see her flashing the occasional look your way. Her smile is predatory and self-satisfied.

Mathematics only presents you with further awkwardness. Should you try to sit near Jill? She seemed quite worried about the consequences of more associating with boys, on Thursday. That was a while ago, though. You could sit by Avril. She looks a lot better than she did on Saturday. Her face is still looking quite fixed and expressionless, though.

Time heals. Not desperate fools. She will talk when she's ready.

>>
>>25958872
We don't repair relationships by whispering in class to the girl we just raped. We need a proper heart to heart, when we know she's ready for it (not just forcing ourself next to her in a public setting), somewhere were we can talk in depth.

And this need talking, not sitting and writting words on a corner of a notebook.

You slide into the seat next to Jill.

"Hi. And happy birthday."

"Hi Chris, and thank you. We're still having that little party, right? And, uh, sorry about Thursday."

"Of course, and don't worry about it. I take it you talked to Avril on Friday?"

"Yeah, a little bit. I'm not even sure she needs tutoring all that much, she picked up on everything I was showing her pretty fast. I guess it's just the difference in school systems. She explained about a few, um, other things too. Anyway, so how was your weekend?"
>>
>>25959135
not good. I discovered I am horrid and rotten to the core, and hurt someone who trusted me with pretty much everything they are.
>>
>>25959135

[X] Lonely, I guess. Didn't do much more than planning for your party, or trying to, at least. And also worrying about you, to be honest.

page 8 now.

No death to report for this week. This feels like a huge improvement.

Pretty uneventful. Me and Avril tried to flew a kite, but there wasn't any wind when we got to the field we planned to use.
>>
>>25959135
Oh it was awesome! These guys tried to beat me up and I was like "no way" and they were like "way" and I was like "pow" and Avril was like "my hero" and then I touched her boobs.
>>
>>25959135
"It could have gone better, we may have annoyed Isabella a little but the party was interesting at least."
>>
>>25959135

I vote this >>25959199 and/or this >>25959239 plus asking what else Avril explained.

>She explained about a few, um, other things too.
Wait, I get it: she explained to Jill the shower happenings.

Glad that's off our shoulders, and hopefully it's a bit of the process of prying Jill away from her mother.

The vision of Jill arguing we saw might have been because her mother lied about it.
>>
>>25959366
"It could have gone a little better. I went to one of Isabella's parties on Thursday evening. Think I may have annoyed her a little."

Jill seems both shocked and a little pleased. "You annoyed Isabella? How? I mean, not that she doesn't deserve it, but still... wow. Was that because she was mean to me on Wednesday? You really didn't have to go that far. But thank you, anyway." She smiles warmly at you.

"By the way, um... what do you mean, Avril explained other things?"

Jill blushes. "About... you know. Stuff. Down there. A more... biological explanation of how this whole blood thing works. My mother didn't really say more than 'it's a curse, let's pray'. She told me a few ways of making sure the blood didn't stain everything, and watching out for it happening again. I hope I don't really have to go through that *every* month, though. It's really quite scary."

German passes by in a bit of a blur. You're starting to feel distinctly hungry as lunchtime approaches, and not just for pizza.

[]Eat with Jill and talk some more about the upcoming party.
[]Find Masami and talk to her when you won't both be busy with class.
[]Go looking for Avril.
[]Find Isabella. You want to know what she was smiling about earlier.
[]Eat on your own. You have enough on your plate already.

And I'm out. Don't screw up more, anon.
>>
>>25956243
You won't see this, but you didn't do it right. Though, with your player base, and how they're acting, that's understandable.
>>
>>25959901
>more
Welp, we can't screw up worse!

inb4 I'm proven wrong in out upcoming confrontation with Isabella.
>>
>>25959932
What was wrong with that? What would be doing it right?
>>
>>25959932
((I'm still keeping a bit of an eye on the old thread. And like I said, there was no way to do it 'right', given what the players wanted to say. That's life, though.))
>>
>>25959967
Fear, disgust, self mortification. Just imagining it from my perspective, probably the first thing I'd want to do is puke, and puke, and not stop puking. Then, just straight up admitting that what you did was unforgivable. Give your cell phone to her so she can call friends or family, and then stay at the other side of the park.

At least, that's how I would have done it. But to be fair, the thought going through most players heads at the moment is "Oh dang, I hope her Dad doesn't get mad," or "I hope this doesn't interfere with all the fucking I want to do later."

Which, in retrospect, is reflected well in the 'apology' given. Namely, immediately going to cover your prized possession- who you had just been forcing yourself on, which shows nearly no realization of what you'd done to the poor girl, that really reflects /tg/'s mindset there.

But, what do I know.
>>
>>25959967
Basically, what >>25960096 said - give her some privacy and space, let her deal with things on her own terms rather than putting the burden of forgiving you for your 'loss of control' on her as well. ((Not so sure on the puking aspect, but given that I never have been and hopefully never will be in such a situation, can't exactly disagree too far.))
>>
>>25960096
>which shows nearly no realization of what you'd done to the poor girl, that really reflects /tg/'s mindset there.
No.

How would "realization" have changed anything?

Nobody thought of giving her a phone, but that's just not thinking of that, nothing to do with "not realizing what we've done."
>>
>>25960217
Well, yes. The puking was pure editorializing on my part. A gut reaction.

I dunno. I just came in after and- well, while there had been this big 'dominance' kind of vibe through out the quest, I hadn't expected it to actually descend to full blown, pinning them down, spreading the legs with your knees, rape. I mean, one is kinda hot, kinda flirting at the edges of that, and then the other...Well, I don't think /tg/ is really mature enough for this, considering that they decided to rape a girl that trusts them deeply for political expediency.

Admittedly, none of the options were good. But the way they then approached the options after. Eck.

I'm babbling now, and you clearly know what I'm talking about, so I'll drop it. I'm just worried that /tg/ is going to wander on, and everything's going to be gumdrops and sugar land again.

>>25960351
If your dad held you down and punched you in the face for ten to twenty minutes, and then stood up, and said "Oh, whoopsie, didn't know you were mad," wiped off the blood with his t-shirt he so magnanimously provided, and toted you away, would you be comforted and realize that ah, he didn't mean that? No, you'd probably realize you were in an abusive relationship.

But anyway. I'm dropping it.
>>
>>25960461
You're dropping it because you're wrong and unable to answer the question.
>>
>>25960514
Dude. Cut it out. Nothing the MC said or did demonstrated much of an *outward* concern, one that would be visible to people he was talking to, say, for much more than 'please accept that this wasn't my fault so I don't have to feel guilty about it'.
>>
>>25960461
((Also, please, feel free to drop by the new thread and keep commenting. This is a really hard conversation for me to write and I'm constantly worrying that I'm not getting things across properly.))
>>
>>25960584
The point is that nothing the MC could have done or said would have demonstrated the fanciful realization that >>25960096 thought up.

That was an impossible demand invented for the sake of whining about the board's mindset. It was someone with a grudge attempting to make a strawman of /tg/.
