not EDE just makin a new one
>>
Rolled 55

Just in time, the old one just died.
>>
Rolled 76

>>27392541
depends on EDEs rules. if Crossbreeding works with no harm then im all for it
>>
Rolled 28

Oh and if EDE comes back that question
>Mutant interbreeding results in
1. Takes after dad
2. Takes after mom
3. Rare, takes after both.

For 1 and 2 is that a complete carbon copy of mom or dad, respectively?
For 3 are the traits of both weaker, the same, or stronger? Do they constitute a separate species?
Also does it often result in bad mutations or often failure/less chance of fertilization?
>>
Rolled 54

>>27392561
did anybody archive? shit

this was what EDE said about CrossBreeding

>mutant inbreeding results in 3 things.
>1 takes after mother
>2 takes after father
>3 more rarely acquires mixture of traits.

i see nothing bad about that. and im assuming he meant brossbreeding instead of inbreeding because that makes more sense in this sense
>>
Rolled 33

Proposition for actions:

>Basic 1:
Pursue new mutation: have Clora'Zel draw the "Immunity" mutation from one of our plaguebearer mutants and begin to develop a mutagen to give all of our mutants that power.

We don't want our guys to get sick from our other guys and we don't want some enemy to unleash a plague on us and kill off masses of our newly acquired forces.

>Basic 2
Continue setting up Psionic Deterrence Field, Tabula, Prophet assisting.

>Basic 3
Ramona Continues training vehicle crews

Banditry:
Continue upgrading base

Production:
Begin/continue Improved Bombardier production.
>>
Rolled 36

>>27392596
if there are no downsides then i say:

lets cross breed the StrongArms and the Rix to create a fighting machine

or the buggers and the Tectus

i dont even know if anything can have sex with the viroz without dieing

same with the vizen
>>
Rolled 68

>>27392615
dude, he hasnt written it up for the last thing we agreed upon

Basic 1
> Continue setting up that Psionic "discouragment" field with The Porphet and Tabula, and have Cora'Zel join in since she can have a Psionic bonus
Basic 2
>Continue Ramonas training. Have her start working the different types of Hover Craft into her forces.
Basic 3
>Continue Forsaken Bandit construction
Bandit
>Continue
Production
>5 more Bandit SSTs (we're gonna make 1 more trade, ending up with a total of 1000 of each item we got)

>Claire
do i sense a new hero?
>>
Rolled 49

>>27392561
>>27392569
>>27392596

EDE has advised against crossbreeding in the past. It makes us more susceptible to being wiped out by plague/biological weapons.

Also, offspring are as likely to inherit good genes as bad genes. However, if we mutate them in a controlled fashion by using Clora'Zel to gestate a new hybrid we get to pick and choose.

Note that Clora'Zel only took so long to make the Tectus because she didn't have any base material to work with.
>>
Rolled 37

>>27392641
the roll was a 71, but i dont really have a way to prove it since it has 404ed and im just viewing it without refreshing due to auto-update
>>
Rolled 90

>>27392596
Well it's entirely dependant on the quality of the offspring. You might take after mom dad or both but if you're missing three limbs and an eye that's not good either.

Biologically speaking, even where it is possible to mix species (and it very rarely is) it's almost impossible to get a better result from crossing species (see mules). Almost certainly there has to be some sort of loss of strength of traits and/or quality.
>>
Rolled 35

>>27392646
which is why wouldnt make a lot of them. but if we were to crossbreed the Rix and the StrongArms. then mutate out the gene for a withered arm they could make some serious commandos
>>
Rolled 3

>>27392667
but they dont have insane mutative qualities. you cant really apply traditional logic here. and we would just be able to mutate out the cons of it.

im also wondering why we havent given the strongarms a second arm.

we need to go about getting rid of all of the downside to each race.
>>
Rolled 81

>>27392646
He didn't necessarily advise against crossbreeding, though I think that was also implied.
It was more of the warning against of a lack of genetic diversity. He didn't recommend an Ubermemor that combined the traits of all because eventually that species would breed over the rest and be left very susceptible.

Like what happened to the aztecs when the Spanish brought a foreign disease. The Spanish were fine. The Aztecs, not so much.
>>
holy shit what did i miss? last i saw we just traded 2-3 years of fuel away for fun new gadgets. whats all this talk about breeding?
>>
>>27392698
>you cant really apply traditional logic here
>mutate out the cons of it
I see what you mean
>>
Rolled 78

>>27392703
Which is why we don't create to many.

I like this idea >>27392670
and this thing with giving the Strongarms a second arm if possible.

>>27392714
just go back and read it. we rolled a 100 on convinceing the mutants to join us and trading with the HillyBillys. we double our pop and got even more fun new toys
>>
>>27392714
Relax, we're just musing on something irrelevant to the actual plot until EDE returns.

Right now, we just added 4000 new members to our people and Richard is coming back, along with new heros. Needless to say, things are going good.
>>
Rolled 49

>>27392732
....i cant tell if sarcasm or...
>>
Rolled 41

>>27392740
Richard isn't necessarily coming back. In fact, we didn't ask the heroes to bring him back. We just sent them off to find him and place some bodyguards around him.
>>
Rolled 12

>>27392740
dude, i dont think Richard is gonna comeback until he finds EVE. we jsut sent him some body guards and a way to keep in contact
>>
>>27392737
is there a link to the archive? old threads dead
>>
>>27392703
>>27392737
There's also a problem inherent in designing an Ubermemor.
Which traits go which traits stay.
Do you keep the chameleon scales of the Tectus? The tentacle hairs of the Octor, or the beautiful skin of the Vizen?
The slender, human form of the Tectus and Vizen, or the giant buff burly muscles and height of Strongarms?

In the end, you have a species that sacrifices things for balance is neither the best at any of the contributing traits.
>>
Rolled 57

>>27392767
you gotta leave that shit up with auto upadte on so that even if it dies you can view every post. i still have it open.

>>27392788

when the Arch Brood King left after fending of the monster madness there was a little note that said that a "brood spawn" would arrive in 2 turns. and that we now had 3000 "brood" in our forces. we never asked about that and im curious
>>
Do you guys think we should physically manifest our culture? As in like art and stuff?
I'd imagine we're a very unartistic people, not that we don't like art, but because music and art and stories are all instantly shared to the mind, leaving nothing for outsiders to view of our people. If we die, a hundred years from now they won't know a thing about us.

Someone could . Or better yet, we can develop an A.I. hivemind interface that takes the thoughts of a person and translates it into a picture. For posterity sake, even if posterity is also telepathically told.

We don't even have a need for theaters and library and such (again because probably we do stuff like that in the mind). Hell, the only thing we do have is a massive Bawdy house.

Interbreeding between mutants types is avoided for a number of reasons.

1 difficulty(see Viroz)
2 miscarriage
3 bad mutation
4 losing oneself
5 no mutation

Mostly though lets say an offrspring IS born alive and well. Chances are they inherited all the bad traits from both parents and maybe some of the good. If your lucky you got all bad and good. If your really lucky you just get all the good. If you won the lottery tier lucky you get all the good and even good mutations to boot.

Problem is also depends on what your trying to interbreed with that above is the general rule of thumb.

With Dr. Claires aid our farms have been upgrade and brought to their original capacity. Sadly this facility wasn't designed to be completely self sufficeinent but suffice to say we maxamized what we could. We got dirt, aquatic, and even fish farms all set up. Churning out food to feed our hungry populas.

food production level in house 12500. Half of maximum facility space.

Hunting forces have been sent out. Its a rather bloody affair but progress is made. Even if Romona is eating her favorite cap in sheer frustration.

Bombardier under construction.

5 more SSTs bloody bandit constructed and ready for trade user.

Send an envoy or three to the Military Remnants, asking for a nonaggression pact. Send an envoy to the scientists, because we've been curious for a long time too.

EDE and EVE's robots get to talking if able to.

On a side note, is there any way we can jury rig the computers I found so long ago to be able to make a relay comm network between EVE and EDE? If so, replace Production with that.

While out scavenging our forces somehow accidently awoken a monster nest a little to soon and artifically started a DEEP Monster Mayhem sooner then expected.

Will last for 2 turns.

Both our trade and Hilly Billy shipments got wiped out during the Mayhem. Most unfortunately for us the Hilly Billy Family thinks we are ripping them off and killed some of their family members off to boot.

Trade with Hilly Billy Family no longer available.

Banditry somehow the bandits accidentally BOOMED the Mobile Factory. They claim it wasn't them and stated they saw Torg screaming something about EXPLOSIONS nearby and even before.

Those nanites along with other nanite constructed parts were added to the broken nanite beds for repair. Too bad we didn't know they were the wrong type of nanites and corrupted ones to boot...

Envoy sent to Military Remnants didn't return. In fact we noticed that their forces have begun to abruptly mobilize big time. Apparently whatever it was they REALLY didn't like it at all. Period.

Envoy to the Scientists failed to return. We don't even know if they made it them thanks to the Monster Mayhem.

EDE and EVE cannot communicate thanks to blackout due to security protocols.

Finally the best for last the doom of Richard the Scientific Monstrosity up next.

You are Richard apparently the hive wants the experimental nanites bed up and running again. They even bought some nanites that they have no idea what their designed for. They also built more....then some idiot poured them into the beds. One moment you were on the edge noticing the broken containers...then you found yourself being dragged in. Apparently their reacting with the haywire nanites in your body. One moment you were your usual monstrous self the next you could feel yourself being torn apart on a cellular level. Luckily before you lost your abilities you activated the System Purge Delta Alpha Black code 1C25. Which apparently got corrupted as the grey goo didn't work as should. With heavy heart your reallized you were gonna have to use the failsafe for grey goo. Luckily the EDE got wind and knew what to do and activated the Safety protocols...ah to think that your genius would be ended so in such a way...worse part was that you weren't even killed by your own mistake or EVEN invention. >>27394815

There aren't any hints for this crisis (other than that we haven't checked the fucking tunnels for She Who Hungers, and he's been purposely ignoring my suggestions to do so, so something's building up there) we've just pissed off the extremely advanced Hilly Billys, and the Super-Mutant remnants of a military faction that was advanced enough to have a military fortress.

So we're facing 2 forces that are far more advanced than us, and one of them is vastly numerically superior.

>So we should stay in our base and prepare, then when it lets up scout the military base and strike.
>Our envoys didn't make it back, and they started war preparations, that's Casus Belli.
We don't know the full details. I always hate it when are troops are snuffed out so fast even with hivemind we can't recognize what is going on. For all we know, their mobilization and our envoy's being killed are purely coincidence. Our envoy's could've been killed by monsters and they could be responding to new Monster Mayhem.

Scouting is always good, as is being prepared for war, but let us also try parlay again and see what the hell is going on.
>>
Rolled 99

>>27398994
You're right, their mobilization after we rolled a 1 for parlay could be coincidence. (that's completely nonsarcastic) However, we don't stand to gain anything not covered in my plan and it's advisable to prepare for an assault.

We can't scout or send another parlay attempt right now because Deep Monster Mayhem is in effect. I'm not saying we should attack them if they're not going to attack us...just saying that if they're trying to attack us we need to be on our A-game.

>>27398963
I know he helped invent the symbionts, that's why he's perfect to research them. They're probably covered under inhumane and stuff so they'll probably get his bonus too.

I think he was uninjured, Clora'Zel is mad protective of him and the Grey Goo quarantine/purge went into effect almost immediately. If he needs time to recuperate, that shouldn't take an action and we'll just go without the symbiont research.

By the way, we ought to get Clora'Zel to set up a biological factory to construct things like symbionts, borg-spiders, and other things that don't fall under the purview of our mobile factory.

>However, we don't stand to gain anything not covered in my plan and it's advisable to prepare for an assault.
Asbolutely, which is why I want to have parlay asap so we can see whether they are friend, foe, or simply passing through to fight bigger fish.

If we do confirm they are after our blood, all the better. We can have the spiders buy us time by sabotaging their fortresses (infiltrating them, spraying webs in their machinery, ripping out vital components and wires, laying mines in their ammunition rooms, multiplying within their own mobile bases, and generally forcing them to fight in them). It'll buy us time to lob more shells at them and devise a better plan to take them down. We can also send in some of those explosive fleshbeasts, and we have I think 6000+ fleshbeast fodder if that's of any worth.

Also possible, is ussing the Digga to undermine their paths, possibly getting them stuck.

All assuming, of course, they are after us.
>>
>>27401111
We had something like 3500 fleshbeats, then 6600 arrived. So roughly 10k total, including a few Brood Kings/other Gigga, Massive, Mobile Base (he was never clear what size the Kings were) tier monsters.

Still, judging by OPs last comment we don't want to fight them if we can avoid it.

I think you're putting too much stock in the spiders. These guys fought against an Uber-Mega-Brood-Queens forces since The Fall and they eventually won. A few biomechanical spiders will be like flies to them (even in fuckmassive hordes).

Also, the Digga Drilla is one ST sized vehicle, it won't play any significant role in this conflict.
>>
If they are out to get us, we need to let them know that Ramona is back among the living.

Keep in mind guys, they didn't know that we had a Broodmother, but now we have 10,000 broodspawn frothing around our base. These Supermutants probably have some goddamn ancestral hatred going on with these Mofos at this point, so peace might not be an option and they'll fight like demons to wipe the Swampbrood taint off the Earth.
>>
>>27401344
Well, even monsters might take the time to swat some itchy flies. Every bullet spent shooting a spider is one not shot at us.

Everything we have at them if all else fails. I just would rather we not fight them at all though.
>>
>>27401518
That could be it too. Probably stemming from the ancient human Military and Government fighting off the end of the world.

At least we had Richard who (somewhat) lived through those times.
>>
Rolled 1

>>27401960

Yeah, they were Military Forces specifically tasked with containing the Broodmother that was at the heart of the swamp (Let's call her The Heart of the Swamp [HotS] from now on) and they've done so obsessively for centuries.

In light of that it's reasonable that if they discovered we were in league with the offspring of HotS they'd want us dead. (Word has definitely reached them, between the sea of Broodspawn and the Arch Brood King that encompassed our base for months).

In fact, that's probably it. They probably thought the Arch Brood King killed us, but then we sent our envoys and they were like "Oh shit, you're alive! PURGE THE HERETIC-BROODMOTHERLOVERS!!!"
>>
>>27402125
A likely possibility. We shall see.
Well, they killed off the Heart of the Swamp, but both them and we still have to find She Who Hungers.

Damn shame these guys are coming in from the south, where we don't have the Ghoul Buffer. On a brighter note they should thin out the Deep Swamp on the way here. If they are coming here.
>>
Another reason I don't want to fight these guys is because it means we'll be on the other end of Marcus' machines.
A very ugly thought.

Worse, he might give them insight onto the weakness of our tanks seeing as how he designed many of them a long time ago. This military faction might have the latest cutting edge Marcus tech.
>>

>>27402212

One of the old side projects. Upgrading our old Spider tanks into Bioborg Spider tanks with Richard and Clora's work. Completely autonomous via hive-net, capable of self replication, and upgrades.

We don't ever produce ST's anymore of them since SST's have proven more valuable and cost effective, but ST's are still important for close quarters base defense, patrol, and they're the largest objects we can fit in the tunnels (which we need to clear one day).

In the words of Richard "anyone can lift a finger and outmanufacture you in day". The more we shift from industry to mutation where we can, all the better. We would no longer have to spend resources or use the factory to produce ST's. Nor would we have to risk our pilots lives, although, I'd imagine pilots still are better than programs.

Simply put, a Bioborg Spider Tank lays a great egg in a monsters corpse for flesh. Regular spiders gather around the forrest collecting parts and bits to add on until it's ready to hatch a full blown tank. In the factory, we can upgrade them from the base type to the usual types (bandits, artillery, ect) and with spider capabilities (giant webs, maybe even jumping?) and man them with pilots for better combat. Best part is though, Richard would completely remove any unseen controls Marcus might have put on them.

In fact, in essence we have an even bigger autonomous resource gatherer and construction vehicle to aid the workers. Even if it's only +1 resource per turn that would be a huge help.

But, as always, that is a long ways away and we have more important things to deal with.

Hah, upsized spiderborgs, I love it!

By the way, when we clear the tunnels we need to build our assloads of spider tanks...then we need to upgrade them. Upgraded spider tanks can apparently hold their own against SSTs if they're done properly, and things in the tunnels could take down SSTs with little trouble I'm sure so unless we want to lose an unreasonable amount of assets we should upgrade them first.

Also, voting.

Actually, once we get a sizeable number of "Fixer ST's" we can upgrade them outside the factor.
Mabye even an extra production move.
But yeah that's going to take a while and we need to deal with all the shit that's about to go down.

The Chalsyn soldiers are strange. Their all equipped in power armor, advanced weaponry, and are clearly augmented somehow. Their officer claims to be here for Didrikson as he called in a favor and they were the forces dispatched. Not that they mind they owe the guy big time apparently. Its worth noting however they arrived on a strange aircraft that deposited them and personal supplies easily enough for an extended campaign. Unit wise they seemed like some highly trained military spec ops origin mercs of some kind. Apparently their an old favorite of Wil company wise.

Tabula Rasa and Prophet have continued on the 'discouragement' shield and SUCCEEDED. Unfortunately it took what remained of crystals stores to finish it off but its up and running.

The Supermutants this time let your forces go but they made it abundantly clear that you are dead men for working with a Broodmother. Much less throwing yourselves away to join a brood. They are amazingly disgusted with you. Strangely enough however the strange bandits didn't seem to care.

Alexis will be gone for 3 turns in the attempt to sue for peace.

Voss's forces cannot be trained. They are ELITE so it little more then exercising for them.

New Mobile Factory under construction.

We are out of resources.

Richard and Clora'Zel have figured out how to upgrade our STs with biotech configuration. What effect this will have however is unknown.

hah no that wasn't the problem the problem was just how much psionic energy it would take to do THAT. Nor did you really bother to study the effects of large scale psionic activity on the swamp and among a few other things.

Rolled 63

>>27405662

Not really. We just smash the machine where we leave it, and that's the last place the monsters remember the source so they'll all head there instead.
Eitherway, it'll lead them away from our base.

Resource teams sent out to scavenge. They brought back 15 resource points. The monsters proved to be an issue but the Forsaken Bandit BSTs drove them off thankfully.

Research on ST spiderborgs continues. Problem is they are designed for a specific purpose in mind modification is possible and even overhauls to degree. But what wants to be done to them is proving to be quite taxing.

Base is already repaired Voss action wasted. Well kinda apparently him and his boys plan to move out soon(see run for their lives). But Voss has been seen talking with Richard first.

I'm still catching up on the archive and will therefore not participate right now. But there is something I've kept wondering while reading up. Why hasn't anyone suggested a fertility mutation? Easier to get pregnant, shorter pregnancy, giving birth to several children at once, having the children mature faster and using the hivemind to compensate for their lack of early Learning etc. It just seems like that would help a lot with the population shortage problem. What might also be worth considering is a new "race" which is basically a living womb to be used as a gestation chamber. and unlike the breeder race that earlier had been suggested, this one utilizes eggs and sperm from other memor etc and just acts like a surrogate.
ps. EDE really great quest, but could I just point out that there is no such thing as "could of" or "would of". It's just that could've and would've sounds a lot like it when said out loud and a lot of people make the mistake of thinking it's "of" and not " 've" but that is just a personal pet peeve. other than that, great quest.

Mutant infertility isn't something we can fix apart from the Broodmother's powers.
>>

>>27406556

>>
Rolled 90

Torg.

But only Prophet, Clora, and Richard are more valuable than Tabula
>>
>>27406556
the difference would be that in this gestator they would use actual memor eggs end sperm, completely avoiding the degradation. the gestator is just a surrogate to give birth to the children. genetically the children would be 100% memor and have no genetic relation to the gestator.
>>
Rolled 77

What about Torg?
>>
>>27406584
>Basically increased fertility results in decreased quality of future offpsrings, which fucks us up for several generations

If I remember that correctly the degradation is not caused by increased fertility, but because they arent entirely 100% memor.
>>

Heroic sacrifice activated. Please hold.

You are Voss you admit you have been bored out of your FUCKING mind. The usual necrotic ghouls are annoying as shit as usual. While the bandits were good but you sorta god bored and chose to have fun with them. To bad that got old fast. Now however Richard is off trying to find his own personal lab since something about him losing the ability to easily create borgs.Apparently he needed a sample of his old flesh as a medium which he was no longer made up of. However since that one invention of theirs didin't work right and caused a massive clusterfuck. An old inkling began to form one that reminded you of your Reaver days back when you were still solo...and a way to get that back. So while the Hivemind was to busy freaking out about it you approached Tabula Rasa about the plan after you gave one last order to your bandit boys and ghoulish followers though. He handed it off to you and you disappeared in a vehicle...solo. Got it felt GOOD to be a Reaver again. Apparently this contraption kept the riff raff away ah. Solo...the right to called a reaver once more. You'll admit you wouldn't mind dying like this.

With that however you struck out. You know you only got so much juice for it, but you also sorta wanted to go out with a bang. So you carried it all the way to the Warzone between Ghouls and bandits. All the while making sure to weave back and forth to make sure that everyone was gonna arrive all at once...the monsters and both type of zombie hordes. It was gonna be beautiful your only regret was that you wouldn't be able to show off to Vass with what you were about to do. With that you took one last swig of Richard's special and brought your weapons up.

Hero Voss necrotic ghoulish current Reaver(former Ravager) deceased.

According to scans user a massive battle of titanic proportions a four way clusterfuck. As begun between the bandits, ghouls, zombies and monsters. Voss is assumed dead user and our bandits have since departed.

Meanwhile in a seperate part of the swamp with a sole wondering hunteress returning after some hard drinking and carousing mostly to fix the trade problems. A wasted Alexis stumbled upon a strange patrol.

Heh goddamn this swamp is a massive clusterfuck why the hell do we got to scout this shit it out anway?

To identify other unknown threats moron.

In any case when are we gonna kick some ASS we have the manpower.

Bosses up top are waiting for our enemies to grind each other into dust...then we just come along and finish of the rest.

HAh clever I like the officers their smart.

oh wait a second shit we got overheard fire!

Realizing that she had been caught a amazingly still wasted Alexis departed the patrol of whom she had been accidently walking with for some time.
Meanwhile deep ark depths of the flooded tunnels. Despite the horrors, Richard stumbled upon a very special door in the E5 grid square.

That was when Richard turned towards his company and stated

"Whatever you do don't stop running forward. This place stored all my personal experiments with everything going to hell I doubt they were all killed."

That was when the door opened and his forces charged with, Gauss Rifles and elemental weaponry briefly light up by their users as they were picked off while charging forward...to the inter sanctum of Richard's private facility.
