You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

You rise and shine to the day before Homecoming. Oh boy, that’ll be something. Of course, you already have a few things lined up to do for today, so you might as well get them done. No lollygagging and no pussyfooting. Time to be the Sophomore Class President and do work!

Even though that work involves matchmaking which isn’t normally part of the educational process.

Anyway, you throw your covers off and hit the shower, then you get decked out in a t-shirt and cargo shorts, the only other casual ware you actually own. You probably should get more when you get the time to. Breakfast is squared away relatively well as well with a nice helping of cereal.

Though, you notice that your cereal is running out, along with other stuff in your fridge. Maybe tomorrow or Sunday you can go out for groceries.

Anyway, you don’t really have anything to do before lunch, but before you can start deciding on what to do, there’s a knock at your door. You quickly head up and answer it, and at the door is a student with a cap with a red circle on it. Red Ball Courier service.

“Package, for Gertrude Pool!”

You take it with a thanks and a nice tip to the courier then place it down at your bed. NOW what do you want to do?

You tear off the paper wrapping of the package, revealing a book. You quirk your brow confusedly at the title, “My Tank is Fight!” by Zack Parsons. Huh. You don’t remember ordering this. This isn’t even the M26E1 you order at all, you expected it to be bigger at least.

Wait a minute, you open the front cover, and find a note.

Gertrude, you’re making some real progress, but I think you need to start getting more textbook about Tanks. This is a nice little book I picked up in a bookstore here, funny stuff. Not a lot to learn about tactics, but maybe you can learn some fundamentals at least.

Remember, keep your head on a swivel.

- Dubois

You smile admirably, then shut the book. “My Tank is Fight!”

> BOOK ACQUIRED: “My Tank is Fight!”
> Note: Tank Books can now be acquired either at your local bookstore for a price. Every chance you take at reading a book will progress to completion by 10%. Finishing a book by default will earn 10 CP, while each book has a special hidden perk that you might find on a second read-through.

Interesting. You put the book down on your bed and start thinking on where to start for the day.

Ignoring arguments for and against the sherman

why do we want to give the rifle team an Su-152? It's an assualt gun. Most Russian casemates are assault guns with huge bore direct fire artillery pieces. Don't we want the riflesto be our marksmen?

So we give them the pershing. Not terribly mobile, but the 90mm is fucking great for long range tank killing. American tanks have better optics than Russian tanks (I think, biased), so it's better at long range accuracy. And they asked us for a tank with a turret.

I think that they deserve a hellcat if we can ever get our hands on one, though.

You head out of your dorm and downstairs to Kitten’s. You knock on the door. “Kitten! Wake up! Don’t make me kick this door down!”

“Fine!” she shouts back from inside. “Give me a second!” You wait outside for several minutes, then Kitten opens the door. She sighs, tilting her head at you. “So, what are we doing today?”

You shrug, smiling. “All kinds of things!” You hold up your new book. “I even got a new book today from Captain Dubois! Isn’t that cool!?”

Kitten takes the book and looks over the cover. “Cool. You actually gonna read this?”

we are in the base model aka the deathtrap
>>
>>28740085
Because we're the commander. We lead the team and command where they go. Our focus should be on manoeuvrability and communications, not firepower and armour. The pershing is not suited to be the command tank because of its lack of manoeuvrability.

We need to be right there with our team, knowing what's going on at every point of the battle, and providing support where we can. We are not the spearhead, but the hand that guides the spear to the target, and the rope that binds it all together.

Shermans had a lot of room for radios, and it's decently mobile. May not fight as effectively, but it makes a good command tank.

I reckon the Pershing's 90mm would be better than the T-34-85's 85mm at tank busting. I don't /think/ (and it's far too early in the morning to confirm right now) that the 85mm is that accurate at long range.

I also /think/ (but can't confirm) that the 90mm has a higher velocity, muzzle energy and etc that would just make it a better gun overall. I don't know all that much about Russian tank cannons though, so I'll need to look it up later.
>>

You decide on reading your book as you and Kitten head for the chippy. You’re already past the first few pages and you’re loving the illustrations and details of the schematics on the various experiments that never got past the drawing board.

And you snicker a bit at the ones that did.

Hell, it’s an entertaining read. Kitten too occasionally peeks over your shoulder to see what you’re snickering at.

> “My Tank is Fight!” Progress: 10%

The time ends up flying by and you arrive at the Chippy creatively called “The Chippy”. You enter and already you smell the lovely whiff of Fish, Fries, and grease. You and Kitten take a seat down in a booth, where newspapers have lovingly been set down for reading.

A waitress attends to you. “Hello! Welcome to the Chippy, can I take your order?”

You say, “Uh, Fish and Chips I suppose and a water. Kitten?”

“Same.”

The waitress immediately writes that down then excuses herself to the Kitchen.

You don’t see either of the Hall Monitors here. What do you want to do?

If we're getting shot ourselves, something went very wrong with our strategy. Manoeuvrability is MORE important in a flag battle, because it keeps our tank out of the enemy's sights. Manoeuvrability > protection because no matter how well armoured we are, a more mobile enemy will always be able to get around that armour and hit us where it hurts.

Further strategic musings

due to the not so great mobility of the pershing, I reckon (on an open field type ground) it would be best serving us from behind the lines or somewhere else, using the 90mm as long ranged support. Maybe put it on a flanking lane of fire in order to best exploit the drop in penetration that comes with long ranges.

The Pershing just won't be able to keep up with the rest of us. We've got a very medium heavy line up so far, which is a good thing, manoeuvrability is the heart of tank on tank fighting. We need to use that to our advantage.

I'm a little worried about the churhill though. Thing's a slow cunt. Dunno how we can fit that into the manoeuvre tactics.

O’Brian sets her phone down and says to O’Hara, “Well perhaps we can go to Homecoming together.”

O’Hara scoffs. “Really. Go to Homecoming together, you and me? Is that a serious offer?”

“… Yes?” she hesitantly says. O’Hara looks at her, confused. “I mean. It is.”

O’Hara laughs at O’Brian. “And you call me a fecking dyke you cunt!”

“I do, because you are.”

Can you not read? I'VE BEEN FUCKING SAYING THAT THE PERSHING IS SLOW AS SHIT. If we can't keep up with our team and remain in a position of situational awareness, we are useless. And it would not be great having to sacrifice the mobility of all those mediums just to make them keep up with our slow ass. The pershing is a good tank, just not for us.

In Senshado where tank battles are expected to last only a few hours, the King Tiger is superior with proper maintenance and a Petrol engine.
However, to say it was the best tank in the war is an overstatement considering they did brake down a lot due to over worked drive trains.

>>28741321
Don't be such a Slavaboo. The T-34 was only good because it was the most produced tank in the war. The rules state there is a maximum amount of tanks that can be played at once, filling our ranks with heaps of shit isn't going to win unless we use them as cover and the enemy decides to bring less tanks than us (Not likely, especially with the richer schools).

“How about you stop insulting her and just tell you how you feel?”

“Megan, I’m just saying I mean…” YES. THIS IS IT. DO IT. >>28741307
Not in the role you're trying to force it into.

We are the command tank. We need to know how the tide of battle is going, and be able to direct our forces to turn the tide in our favour.

One, we need to know what is going on. That means being able to see the battle, being able to be where the battle is, and being able to recieve radio reports from our team.

Two, we need to be able to command our team. We need to see where we send them, we need to actually be able to tell them via radio, and we need to be able to keep up with themso that we can stay aware on how the battle is going.

I cannot stress this enough. Our job means we are the brain that controls our team. We should be avoiding putting ourselves in danger as much as possible. We are not the front line fighter, but we sit right behind our friends and lead them from a position where we know exactly what is going on. And for that to happen, we need to be able to keep up with them. Something that the Pershing can't do.

Again, the Pershing will be much better serving as a long range support tank rather than a front liner. It has a great gun for that sort of thing.

“Is-“ O’Brian quickly twists her tongue at that then says, “… maybe you will! I mean…” She sighs. “I think your glasses look great!”

“Pardon?”

“Your glasses, really compliment your eyes. You know, guys like nerdy girls who don’t actually know a damn thing about nerdy things, you know.”

O’Hara smirks. “Well, thank you. I happen to think I make glasses work, O’Brian. Unlike you and your bedhead, probably makes you look like a slut you cunt.”

O’Brian claps her hands together. “Fine then! Maybe we should perhaps go to Homecoming!”

“What is it with you and Homecoming? Are you really that fecking desperate?”

“Oh,” O’Brian says something she’ll really regret. “I’d go with a girl if it meant I have a date.”

You shrug. “Well. I suppose it could be worse.” You and Kitten look out the window to see O’Brian and O’Hara arguing, a little less violently this time and more calmer. O’Brian appears to be trying to convince O’Hara, while O’Hara is simply in disbelief at the entire situation. You can’t hear what they’re saying and you’re no lip reader either.

O’Brian says something to O’Hara, apparently pleading or begging, while O’Hara simply turns away from her. O’Brian stomps her foot, calling out her name. O’Hara turns her head, and O’Brian says something else indistinct.

“What do you think they’re saying?” asks Kitten.

You shrug. “I dunno.”

O’Hara walks up to O’Brian, then says something else indistinctly. O’Brian nods to that. Wait, her shoulders are shaking a little. Oh god, she’s starting to cry.

You sigh. “Okay, yeah this isn’t going well.”

O’Hara hugs O’Brian though, tightly. You raise your eyebrow. What could this mean?

Then they kiss.

WHOOOOAA OKAY DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING

Kitten blushes, returning to her newspaper. “OKAY, THAT’S SURPRISING.”

“YEAH.” You also return to your newspaper.

You whistle as O’Hara and O’Brian leave, hand in hand. That resolved itself like you didn’t expect it to. Kitten as well is as surprised as you are.

“That was intense!” she says. “I honestly thought she was fucked for a second there.”

You shake your head. “I don’t understand, how did this shit happen?” You take a bite out of your fried fish. “I mean… it kinda makes sense, but in a way it doesn’t. I thought O’Hara was crushing on me.”

Kitten shrugs. “Well, maybe it was one of those puppy love things. Of course…” She sighs. “Jesus, this is an interesting lunch we’re having.”

You nod. “I know, I know.” You take another bite out of your fish. “But, I suppose it’s nice! They’re together. That’s what matters.”

Kitten nods, smiling. “They got each other.” She looks over at you. “I suppose this means, Bolter’s gonna get out of the slammer then?”

You nod. “Yep. We’re making progress.”

With that, you finish off your lunch and then head out. Where to next?

Well, it's just a crush, and she'd probably read too much into things and assume she has no chance against Kitten and give up anyway. Besides, we ask O'Brian, so she can decide if she takes the risk.

“Hey, if you need dresses, come by the Sewing Club building,” you text to O’Brian.

“Now, Kitten!” You snap your fingers, grinning. “It’s time for DRESSES!”

Kitten says, “Joy.”

The two of you get on your merry way to the Sewing Club building. It’s actually been a while since you’ve visited there; you wonder how much they’ve gotten done. Maybe people actually buy stuff from there now.

You arrive there, and as you predicted it actually looks like people are shopping there. The racks look used as if people actually take clothes from them now. You can see the occasional student filing through pre-made dresses and the like. You meet with Mamie at the counter.

“Hello, Gertrude,” greets Mamie. “Here for your dresses?”

You nod. “Yep! Uh, O’Brian and O’Hara will be coming along later, if you don’t mind.”

Mamie shakes her head. “Not at all! Go head to the back, Anna should be right with you.”

You and Kitten head to the back and sure enough, you’re greeted by a very tired looking Anna, who looks as if she hasn’t slept. However, she greets with the same energy as if you had just first met. “Gertrude! Kitten! It’s good to see you two! Been working around the clock and the coffee hasn’t even run out yet!” She holds up scissors and a needle.

“So, Gertrude. You first. What would you like?”

There's a difference though anon, we want her out of her comfort zone so she can make friends, not so she can get uncomfortably oggled at Homecoming. The pushing out of comfort zone is the means, not the goal, and sexy dress wouldn't do much for our goal.
>>
>>28742669
True, but we're already bringing her out of her comfort zone by taking her to homecoming.

Give Practical is within her comfort zone which we need to bring her out of, Sexy is pushing it too far, Elegant is a nice inbetween

Or just ask Kittain? She needs to make decisions herself.

“Oh, just go for something practical for me, Anna.”

“Alright, stand here, drop your clothes and we’ll get you measured!”

Kitten simply sits to the side, reading your book while you hold out your arms in a T-Pose as Anna starts measuring you with every tape measure.

Anna scrutinizes the measure. “Hm… you gained a little weight last time I measured you.”

“What?”

She bursts into laughter. “Oh I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” She calls over, “Bess! Get me some black cloth!”

Bess immediately brings in a box of scraps of black. Anna starts filing through, occasionally saying, “No… wrong… yesterday… too boyish…”

Your arms are getting tired.

Kitten looks up at you. “So, what do you think your dress is going to look like?”

“Oh, I’m sure it’ll look fine! Nothing beats a nice dress you know, Kitten! Every girl should own at least one!”

Kitten asks you, “Then why don’t you own one?”

“… because I never encountered a situation where I needed one.”

Anna harrumphs. “That’s a pity! But, I assure you, this dress will be something you can use out of Homecoming. It’ll be a little black dress that you can wear with pretty much anything and in almost any season, except Winter maybe.”

You nod. “Okay, that sounds nice.”

With that, Anna starts getting to work on assembling the dress around you. You feel needles poke you in almost every way. You stand there for what feels like an hour, then finally Anna lets you rest and lets the sewing machine start working its magic.

Finally, after a long while of waiting, you’re clad in your little black dress. You admire yourself in the mirror.

Anna says, “Specifically designed to be elegant and practical anywhere and anytime!”

You smile. “Thanks, Anna! This looks great!”

She claps her hands. “Now, Kitten, what will she have?”

“Kitten, what do you think?”

Kitten shrugs. “I dunno, you decide.”

“If you let me decide, I’m gonna suggest something eyecatching.” You point to her ample C-cups. “VERY eyecatching if you catch my drift.”

She stands up and slams the book shut. “Fine. Just… surprise me, Anna. Don’t make something too… small though.”

Anna nods. “Of course!”

With that in mind, Kitten strips down and consents to measurements. You sit by the side a little, admiring it all. The intensity of Anna’s craft, how she has to get every measurement precisely right, the usage of the right type of cloth, everything! You also admire Kitten’s body a little.

You’re actually envy Kitten’s body a little. How the fuck does a shut-in get a figure like that?

Anna snaps the tape measure taut. “Right! I think we’re good with measurements, uh…” She calls out to, “Bess! Yellows please, something a little flowery maybe as well!”

Bess immediately comes in with a box of yellow. “Mhm…” Anna scrutinizes all the scraps and cloths, then settles for one bit. “Can you find more in this color?” Bess nods then quickly leaves, then quickly returns with the same color. “Thank you, lovely.”

Kitten sighs. “This sucks.”

“It does not suck, Kitten! If anything, I think you look positively amazing right now!”

Kitten looks down at you, “But I’m not wearing my dress.”

“Precisely.”

She blushes at that as Anna starts putting the dress together around her. She also measures a belt around her waist, interesting. In a conspicuously shorter time than your dress got, Anna immediately starts up the Sewing machine again.

“There you are, I decided to go a little 1950s and make you a nice yellow shirtdress!” Kitten admires herself confusedly in the mirror. “I figured it flatter your body since you don’t seem to be too proud of it. You should be, but I’m in no position to argue right now.”

You stand up next to her as she lifts her skirt up a little, curiously. You grin. “How do you like it, Kitten?”

Kitten looks up at you and then smiles. “I love it.”

“Yes!” Anna pumps her fists. “Excellent.”

You walk over to Anna, “Thanks for the dresses, Anna, it means a lot. How much are they?”

“Oh, don’t worry about it,” she says. “They’re free!”

You hug Anna. “Oh thank you!”
