640 KB Warriors of the North Quest 3 The Will of the Gods !EabccEYuUs 06/30/11(Thu)16:41 No.15435000
Finally, a test to find you infinite machinations of your Raven God has presented itself! While your tribe grows fat and sedentary, content to idly worship Chaos in their unfocused ways, the scions of Tzeentch have revealed to you the true path to power and influence!

You've proven yourself worthy with your unorthodox wit and natural instinct for His Ruinous Power. Now that you have survived both Dark Elf slavers and a clandestine Slaaneshi cultist and her daemonette spawn, you tread to the West to the dark woods of Norsca. No warband of barbarians will be worth your first conquest. You march through the snow with sword at your waist, Raven blessed cloak on your back, and manacled dark elf slave at your heels!

The woods now loom before you, acolyte. What shall you do? (Roll 2d12 and an action. First die being the priority given, the second die being the effectiveness of your action. First four posts will be considered.)

The slave protests, but whatever resistance she has yields when once again the blue mark of Tzeentch glows on her forehead and she makes slow steps towards the treeline. You follow behind her, hand resting on the pommel of the dark elf sword, looking warily at the dead trunks and stumps around you. Even the Norsca weren't stupid enough to go into these woods in anything less than a full raiding party when searching for beastmen slaves, but you have no other choice as your Raven God's orders compel you forward.

You begin to let your guard down, and your slave starts to walk on her own volition as well, but as you both start to be more at ease, you hear a whine and a snap.

In an instant, you hear your slave scream, and you see her upend and rise to the air, suspended on a snare and a branch. You hear the mocking bleating of what sounds like dying goats as red eyes begin to stare at you from the shadows of the black trees.

What shall you do? (Roll 2d12 and an action. First die being the priority given, the second die being the effectiveness of your action. First four posts will be considered.)

It would be wise to use the elf as a shield since it is both a female and a skinny elf. Hell maybe if we pray enough our lord can change her/it into a blessed shield.

together with out magic elf shield and small elf dagger we stole from her dead friends we can become an unstoppable force of change?

Though fortune seems to have left you, there are still a few glimmers of hope. The sapling that has snapped taut to lift your slave seems to be thin, more accustomed to small animals and the occasional Norscan child than your elf slave with her iron manacles and what is left of her armor. You chop down the wood with a few heaves from your sword, and the display seems to make the glowing eyes think twice, a few slinking back into the shadows. You slave falls unceremoniously to the ground in a yelp, curling up into a ball to nurse her battered side.

What can you do to sta-a-a-ahy our hand and eat your flesh to be ble-e-e-ehssed instead?" The ungor with the largest horns questions you. A good sign. You decide that perhaps belittling the half formed creatures would be a good show of your superiority to them. Mocking their bent bodies and their diminutive horns, you tell them that they are far too ugly to be true beastmen and to lead you to their master. Your slave looks at you in shock as your utter those words, and she tries to speak out, but the mark of Tzeentch once more silences her and puts her into a dreamy trance instead of disobeying your plans.

Evens, it goes to 613's roll

Some new rules. Only rolls of double 9 can take precedence over a roll of 12. If you roll a 9 on the first die but any other number on the second and vice versa, it is treated as a numerical and normal nine. Link back to the post that you want your action to affect. Also, rerolling for an action that has already been suggested means that action will take the second die of effectiveness of the newest roll.

You offer them hope in the name of Tzeentch, and at least the halfhorn leader hungrily nods and takes in your words. As spiteful as they are, and though you know that they will kill you at their first chance, their devious little minds would be perfect for Tzeentch's plans.

"Yes yes, we will follow you, Cho-o-o-ohsen." the halforn nods eagerly, though you still see one or two of their number grumbling and unsure of being lead by a human and an elf slave.

What now? (Roll 2d12 and an action. First die being the priority given, the second die being the effectiveness of your action. First four rolls will be considered.)

Drunk with power as you are, you grab the nearest ungor that you can see, attempting to carve out the mark of Tzeentch on his forehead. The weakling bleats and protests, but you are far too filled with a rush of power to be denied. Unfortunately, their skulls are too strangely formed and your blade can find no purchase to the skin due to their horns. Your hand slips and instead you put out the creature's eye. It yelps in pain, rolling in the ground, and the other ungors look at you, shocked.

The path you've taken with these ignoramuses has been a winding and dangerous one. You know that you must end this now before they end you! Using the last ounce of your strength you push away at the ungor, tears chunks of your flesh out but disentangling from its sharp horns. The creature bellows with rage again, and ducks his head, once more to charge! You are still a Tzeentchian, though, and you learn from your mistakes. At the last moment, you roll away to the side, and now the ungor's horns are buried deep into the trunk of the dead wood that he had pinned you to!

Gasping for breath, you take out your sword and cry out as many names of Tzeentch as you can remember in the span of a breath, making the mark on your hand glow and the sword shoot fire as well.

You swing down on the back of the beast's neck, not enough strength in your one uninjured hand to chop off his head, but the gory sight is enough. The blad sinks halfway into the spine, and the ungor brute squeals before vomiting blood and ceasing it's struggles. Now it hangs, almost dangling from the few chords of muscles left to it on the tree trunk.

You are bloody and battered, and your arm is all but decimated, but you survive. You look out to the now paralyzed congregation of ungors and the still laughing raven cloud.

What now, as you stand bleeding over the dead ungor dissident? (Roll 2d12 and an action. First die being the priority given, the second die being the effectiveness of your action. First four rolls will be considered.)

You burn with shame at your struggle against the ungor herd. Now the beastmen look warily at you, stepping back. Even the halfhorn now feels the same instinct of facing a cornered beast such as yourself. They turn and try to escape to the woods, but now you know that they all deserve a slow and painful death for denying your leadership.

You try again to chant the names revealed to you, and the scars on your hand and your slave's forehead shoot out with blue lightning and fie, engulfing the ungors. All of them are consumed, but instead of the slow death you had wished for, they are vaporized instantly, a foul, foul smell clinging in the air.

Now you are left standing in the clearing, your slave mumbling praises to Tzeentch as she lays prone and dazed on the ground as well as you with your broken and bloody arm.

You mention to the flock of ravens and your slave that it probably could have gone better, but at least you can start fresh. You make a few shaky steps forward, but your vision swims. Absently, you think that you probably should have tended to your wounds first, but all that seems to fade away as you black out to the sounds of laughing ravens and the whispered names of Tzeentch coming from your slave's mouth.

You awaken later, with the sun high in the sky. You look around to see that your slave is trying to start a pitiful looking firepit while the raven mocks her relentlessly from her shoulder. You try to move, but an arching pain shoots up from your arm. You look down to see it in a crude splint made of beastman rags and hide and twigs.

"The wise and all-knowing CHOSEN of Tzeentch awakens! How was your sleep, oh bastion?" The raven laughs at you again.

You shake your head, trying to get a bit more of a feel for your situation. Your slave looks at you with derision, but she seems to have learned her lesson in going against you. Rather than having herself be ensorcelled by the mark again, for now she is serving you of her own will.

"But, you diiiiiiid do a fair amount of entertaining dancing there with the ungors, little acolyte. Here, a gift!" The raven says, flying up and spreading it's droppings on your splint. You begin to protest of the Nurgle-esque gift, but the rags glow blue and you feel vigor returning to your arm.

You unwrap the covering and feel that the bones have knit, and that the wounds are now only shallow, maybe an inch deep instead of clean to the other side like before. Now, though, the skin is a deep purple instead of the pale Norsca pink from before.

You have time now, as you recuperate. Perhaps staying put a few hours won't be too terrible. You settledown as the slave finally starts a fire with the two stick she had been laboring over.

Now you have some time, you question your slave on her name and story. You ask her what she calls herself and why she is here in the realms of the Norse. She looks at you with a sneer, this being the first time you talk to her in a tone of civility, and she forgets her place as your slave for a moment.

"My name? Why should I...~!!!... ever deny you anything, my lord and link to our most illustrious Raven God! My name is Minionelf, your elf minion! I was a follower of the idiotic and decadent Slaanesh until your forcefully shined the light of Tzeentch into my minion eyes! Praise be the Burning Eye and Changer!" she says, starting off as a rude, pretentious elf but now a smiling, dullard of a minion as the eye of Tzeentch takes over her acidic personality.

Well, it is something... now you have a name of sorts to call her, though that really was not as successful as you would have liked.

What now?(Roll 2d12 and an action. First die being the priority given, the second die being the effectiveness of your action. First four rolls will be considered.)

"Proficient in all the weapons that our God, Tzeentch, wills me to be at any particular moment, my master!" she half mumbles and chimes. You decide that she is of no help at her current state and inspect your arm. Apart from being a deep shade of purple, you think you can see some black tips on the skin.

The raven laughs again. "My my my, she seem sooo much more devoted than you, Chooooosen one. Perhaps if you put more effort into the Great Game rather than picking at your skin, you would actually meet half of your boasts!"

The sword still hangs from its neck, and you tug it easily out, actually sawing through the remaining muscle and beheading the ungor. "You know what might be a maaaarvelous idea? If you sacrificed the rest of that man-beast's body to Tzeentch!" The raven quips, landing on the skull in your hand.

You take a minute to think about the proposition. You can't see how it would hurt, and it did sound like a proper command.

You lay the body out, murmuring the names of Tzeentch once more as you carve out the fiery eye. You raise the dagger up and aim for the heart proclaiming the holocaust to Tzeentch and plunge the dagger down...

... only to have the corpse explode like a bomb filled with carrion beetles. You scream and thrash about, desperately swatting away the bugs. Eventually you do dissipate most of the insects, though you do sport a few bug bites on your arms and your broken nose.

The raven laughs at you again. "Ooooh, it MIGHT have been a marvelous idea, it might it might it might have!" he cackles happily.

As she passes you, you playfully slap her buttocks, only to yelp and pull back, wincing as your hand only makes contact with her spiked armored skirt. Hey, does the archive update? You know, does it update to the threads current state? I'm afraid of us losing some of this.

She looks at you again with dirision in her eyes and looks as if to speak of your ignorance, but holds her tongue.

"... no.. sir... We were wise enough to stay to the shores and out of the woods..." she answers simply, not offering more or less than what you asked of her in a veiled jibe.

You nod and follow her deeper into the woods.

What now? (Roll 2d12 and an action. First die being the priority given, the second die being the effectiveness of your action. First five rolls will be considered.)

Attempt to scry the location of other warbands, particularly ones that worship Tzeentch as well. Also, find a place to rest.

Chuckle at the jibe, and start plotting a scheme to gain a following of beastmen. You'd better go in preapeared next time.

See if she can track beastmen. She's an elf, so her senses are at least better than ours even if she isn't a woodsman.

We need followers, to gain followers we need authority, to gain authority we need power.

We need to impress Tzeentch to obtain it!

We got kicked out for following Tzeetch. Why would we find followers there? We'd be better waiting until we have some beastmen followers, a few more impressive mutations then returning to the village with our warband and gifts then demand they submit or make examples of their warriors them until they do.
