So lets put on our gauntlet, and go get our information so we can try to come up with a plan to survive killing this bastard.
    >> Anonymous 09/27/11(Tue)05:58 No.16440999
We need to boost our Blitz to 3, and master a Flickering Blade swordstyle, making our effective speed in combat a 4. And complete our martial arts training for grappling and such.
Martial arts mastery allows for bare-hand fighting against armed opponents without penalties or something.

    REPOST

Say, could we use the gauntlet to give our sword an overheat ability- Dump an extra two to four chakra points into the steamsaw ability, giving us a single superheated attack at the cost of not being able to use our sword at all for a few rounds, possibly the whole encounter, or risk breaking it?
    >> Anonymous 09/27/11(Tue)06:04 No.16441033
Hmm, well luckily for us, he's not the fastest shinobi ever, and A's probably faster than him...but we still need to be fast enough to dodge.

The other way to go about this is, instead of us speeding up, we find ways of slowing him down. The mist will help with some of this, but he'd be an idiot not to expect mist at this point and will likely have a counter for it. Perhaps a sticky-floor or other such jutsu.

Also, Gen's not gonna be happy.

A visit to a concerned but happy to see you Aya reveals that she has a small file on the Raikage, seems that not many people who fight him live to tell the tale. Amongst the people who have fought the Third Raikage are the Third Hokage, the Fourth Kazekage, and lastly Orochimaru. Most others are dead or aren't coming forward. From what information Kiri has been able to syphon away he attacks with speed, with force, usually in a single dynamic strike, like a bolt of lightning. Once he's up close he relies on his unbelievable toughness to endure damage. The only things that have ever hurt him have been Orochimaru's kusanagi, which is what cut the lightning scar on his chest, and the Fourth's Rasengan which knocked him out flat for a few seconds. Other than that, he's reported to be impervious to damage with a three-fingered jab that can kill upon impact.

Interesting thought- can anything pierce the Water Prison technique?

It might prove an effective last-econd shield if it comes down to it.

Either way, we need something that can get through his tankin' blows...Saito and his wraithing might be an answer. If he can wraith-form anything inorganic, could he wraith the ground, causing the 3rd to fall, then reform it, phase-fragging him?

A simultaneous burst of chakra from all parts of the body as well as a focus at the weakest point of the Prison, usually opposite where the creator's hand is, breaks it as seen when Neji does it. However, since it's Neji, it seems to require chakra control that only a Hyuuga could achieve. I fear, however, the Lightning Armor may be enough to get him out of it.

How very reassuring. As we currently stand, there's no way we can take on the Third. I assume the assassination is intended to be a team attempt, with us acting as the bait.
Even so, this guy held out against an entire army by himself. We're going to need to whip the Seven Swords into top shape before we can even consider it.

So possible advance paths I get from most of your ideas, guys:
    1) Fuujitsu + Swordstyle
Cool, thematic, useful. Also sealing/summoning jitsus. Could summon ourselves to our sword, while it flies to enemy.
    2) Kekkei Genkai Mastery + Martial Arts
Awesome, thematic, useful. I like a regenerating Bone Shield idea a lot.
    3) Chakra Control + Fire Style
Well, fire jitsus, blood boiling, vapour style with conjuction with water style and shit.
    4) Chakra Control + Sensor
We just lost a hand, because of our reliance of passive sensoring. Passive sensoring can be improved, though. Like greatly boosting our defence improved.
Also have to remake Willow Whisper, to, like, requiring a higher Taijitsu score/Speed rank than that of target. Because its fucking god-mode against armed opponent.
    >> Anonymous 09/27/11(Tue)10:24 No.16442268
    >>16442088
Willow Whisper, combined with improved Chakra sensing may be our key to defeating the Raikage. We should also improve Blitz while we're at it, including the procurement of either a Byakugan or Sharingan. The more we have in terms of high speed reaction, the better.
    >> Anonymous 09/27/11(Tue)10:36 No.16442327
Can we use/reforge Kiba twin swords we took from Raiga? Those are, like, sharpest swords ever, we can use them to cut through Raikage lighting armour.
    >> Anonymous 09/27/11(Tue)11:56 No.16442721
We need to go Yuki and talk to her about our new Mozenrath -like hand and find out about it and thank her, if she'll let us. Do we still have our physical strength in that hand too? We might need to test that.

We also need to go to Gen. I'm not sure if we should do this before we talk to Yuki or after, but we need to apologize for one-half of the seal being destroyed - if I remember, it was on both hands, and I'm not sure if it goes to the bone - and maybe have a new seal done - changed a bit, to allow our new slight-Shikotsumyaku to be used with it. I'm not sure how, but we should try to use it.

And regarding the six perks you said we needed to give to the rest of the Swordsmen - there has been a lot of a talk of some kind of Team Bonding perk for everyone, and I've made mention that it should be our Seven Massacres of the Mist but when brought up, you don't seem to talk about them. Any reason for that?

Anyway, read Operation Light Break and find out what it entails. And, although it pains me to say, the Mizukage said that 'we will assassinate him'. Our duel is just a distraction. If we can kill him, more points to us, but it's not set up for that.

And finally, OP? Do you think you could start each time with a quick recap and at least Shimaru character sheet?

This is a bad idea. Not being able to us Suiseiken? Never. However, adding more of our chakra to Suiseiken is always a good idea, to allow for more control and power. Maybe we can slowly awake Suiseiken, and our sword and Sempai's sword can chat while we wrassle.

Speaking of Sempai, ask Aya about his movements? Not that we're fool enough to go rushing out after him but we really should see what he's doing.

I notice a lack of Avatar of the Sea.

    >>16442327
We also have Kubikiribōchō, don't forget. I do want to somehow add that 'absorbs iron from the blood to continually self repair' from Zabuza's sword to everyone's blade, or at least ours. Stab someone, steal all their iron and use the rest of the blood to make more mist. I like that.

Could we find a way to graft them onto our arm? Another thing though is that we need to do is discuss this with the other swords. They might have thought of something we haven't.

The kinkaku force are annoying I'm begining to think that three of them always escape, I mean when the Third Hokage faced them three survived then too right?

So ask about Kisames movements, talk to Yuki, talk to Gen and then meet with the rest of the swords. In the meeting discuss the mission what should we have done differently (aside from not killing them all), and how to assasinate the Raikage. Is he suseptible to poison do you think? 5) Chakra Manipualtion + Water style(already mastered)
Avatar of the Sea is about reactive chakra-infused water armor, right? Which can grow us a pair of additional liquid limbs even. Sounds super solid, but getting hit by lighting, while using it, gonna cost you.
    >>16442721
Why not keep it simple, and give everyone one extra dice for teamwork, while all Seven Swordsman are assembled?

Oh, and Vapour style/Fire style + Willow Whisper allows for fun combos, like choking guy with one hand, making seals with another, and spewing fire/acid vapour in his face at point blank.

But here: the Raikage uses a lightning armor. We create a jutsu that will use chakra-infused tendrils of water that go into the ground to drain away the lightning, like a lightning rod?

I've been working on exactly how to impliment a Team-wide perk, or at least to get the specifics of ours, don't worry, your words aren't falling on deaf ears. After all, once I do one for the swords I can do one for the other famous teams.

Aya updates you that Kisame has been laying low and what reports have come in place him as far away as the Land of Rivers, by the Hidden Sand Village.

Yuki seems to be waiting for you and when you arrive she explains the following. Due to the nature of the healing she used you possess a portion of her Kaguya powers. Because you are already done growing, your powers won't grow much more unless stimulated to. She offers, without any show of hesitation, to help foster the growth of those powers in you. However, even if done correctly, you will never have the strength of a full-blooded Kaguya. What you will have, however, is the ability to regrow the bone on that hand, channel chakra through it, and grow spikes out of it, as well as make it iron-hard.

You have the 2 skillpoints left over from before. 6 Perks, which I will write down as Massacre of the Mist as a placeholder, and the one you get from successfully completing the mission, as well as everyone else's new one. Everyone also gets 2 skillpoints. Also, noticing how quickly things ramp up, I'm considering doing scaling costs in the future. Nevermind that we're the leader of the seven swordsmen and a friend- despite everything Yagura has done to her and her people, she selflessly gave away some of her bloodline to help us. That earns her instant bro status in my book. We need to do something personal for her, be that talking to the mizukage and getting the Kaguya clan back into positions of power, making the entire clan an offshoot of the swordsmen, or even making a Kaguya clan trust fund. We need to let her know how fucking cool she is to even consider doing that just to save our ass.

That would explain why we'd go off without orders after his head, spread some rumors that we hate them for some reason or another and went above and beyond anything our Kage expected us to do last mission. Taijutsu: 9
    Ninjutsu: 9
    Genjutsu: 4

    Shinobi Movement: 5

    Water Style Talent: 5
    Genjutsu Knowledge: 3
    Fuujutsu Knowledge: 2

Funny you should ask, we never really brought up parents. From the way we are I don't see us having much of a family life anyway. Our professionalism seems to stem from either a driving parent pushing us, or a way to find acceptance immediately from strangers due to our lack of any parental figures in our past. More than likely, our parents died in one of the many violent conflicts seen in the Bloody Mist in the past years.

Also, Kimimaro has literally just started living with Orochimaru as the Kaguya clan massacre was less than year ago. Orochimaru is priming him for being his new host in three body cycles. Lastly, it's extremely likely Yuki can cure him since the Kaguya anatomy is so different and she's well acquainted with it.

The skeleton of it is evident in the original sourcebook and I've certainly shown one thing that's unique to the Mist, Dual Roles in a Duo. We're more effective at doing more with less, but large scale teamwork isn't really our thing, neither is working outside of our element be it without water or without the teammates we're used to having.

For Leaf I'm giving them the Will of Fire, which is to be determined at a later time.

Cloud gets basically an upgraded form of Prejudce, the Feat.

Sand will get bonuses to individual skill but penalties to working together, they don't like teaming up unless it's demanded.

As for the Stone, I can't make their ability to be throw-away ninjas interesting, so instead I'll make them extremely loyal and disciplined, making them work better under supervision and better with subordinates under them.

She notes before putting her tools away.

Gendo speaks, "The Raikage...he's one of the most dangerous shinobi in the world. And Lady Misukage wants us to kill him." He asked with concern before sighing and nodding, "Alright, Captain, I trust you."

Have the Swordsmen train to work with each other, to kill or disable any guards or ANBU that the Raikage might bring along with him.

We're a Mist ninja, so it won't be out of the ordinary if we use the Hidden Mist jutsu as an opener. The Raikage will like just ignore it, confident in his skills.

You're the best, around, nothing's gonna ever bring you down.

News of the Raikage's fury reaches the village the next day, where he is handled by the Mizukage. It turns out he wants a duel with you, since in his eyes its tantamount to an execution. The only drawback, however, is that the fight will take place in Lightning Country, and there's nothing the Mizukage could say or do to have him do it in Mist. So, instead, she and he both agree that they will conduct the battle in the Land of Fire, the Fourth Hokage's agreement coming quickly as he promises to send ANBU agents to supervise the even as well as some higher level Jonin. Now that you are aware of your setting and time you begin working.

Using the water from the pool you use your intimate knowledge of Water Style Jutsu to combine with the Water Clone and bring the water up around your body, like armor, leaving narrow air passages for you to breathe in as you learn to negotiate yourself in it as well as fight with your sword in its new lighter arm, the gauntlet helping bridge the gap.

After the day's training you and Yuki go to her house where he treats your bones, infuses them with her chakra, and feeds you herbs which will spike your growth a little bit to enable your body to adapt to the bones and the Kekkei Genkai you are slowly inheriting. By the end of two weeks you are able to sprout a single prong of iron hard bone from the top of your wrist.
    >> OP 09/27/11(Tue)15:48 No.16444193
Your team-mates, meanwhile, have learned to work better together. Gendo is more comfortable with summoning his crocodiles, Tetsuo is even more reliable with his dash, Saito actually learns a few offensive techniques, and Waraji controls his anger enough for him to use Battlemind for a whole five minutes before burning out in a huff of anger. Mangetsu's health, meanwhile, is a little frightening as some days he's too weak to work, and others he's manic and active. According to Yuki he is fighting with a potentially lethal disease that not even she can cure.

Your team's main focus, however, is counter ANBU tactics. All of your members take to carrying gourds of water from the Sanctuary with them, learning to unleash a small pulse of water that will stop prematurely if it hits anything, allowing you to detect ANBU even whilst completely hidden, as they are still material. In addition, Tetsuo has taken extreme focus to sniffing out even the slight of chakra activity, making his senses all the more intense.

Before you depart for the Land of Fire Gen greets you at the village gate with a small patch of paper, "This is a Wind-element scroll. It's extremely temporary and works a single time. If you wrap it around your blade and turn on the saw instead of water and fire you get a buzzing wind blade. However, if you do this your blade cannot be used for at least a week since the elemental nature ruins the...you know what, you probably don't care or understand anyway. Long story short, use it, but don't turn your sword's saw on again or you will rupture it." And with that you set off.

In the world of Naruto Wind is the element that dominates lightning. A wind jutsu and a lightning jutsu meeting makes the lightning rebound back on its owner with the wind slashing at them to. No, for all my love and knowledge of the setting, it doesn't make much sense to me either. It takes almost two days travel to arrive on foot, but you arrive in the large clearing, ringed by trees. This is a site of a past battle in the Second Shinobi World War, where the Sannin turned away a massive Sand army by themselves.

Already there is a wooden ring surrounded by tags at regular intervals. ANBU agents are flooding the field, easily thirty or fifty of them, and three Jonin are visable. One of them is a dark haired man who is sitting on a fence post smoking. He's chatting up a pretty brunette woman with red eyes, and beside the both of them is another dark haired man with a bowl-cut and a look of interest as he listens in. Despite their rather toned down appearances you can sense that they are powerful individuals.

Nope, I'm using the point-scaling we talked about earlier. I'm glad I didn't do it retroactively, cause you'd be so hosed.

The Cloud Nin haven't arrived just yet, but you're pretty sure they will be here shortly. ANBU agents swarm your team-mates and pat them down, counting their armaments and assigning an agent to each member of your team to stand beside them and monitor their chakra activity.

In short order the Cloud arrives, the elderly Raikage stands a head above the rest. By his side are his two sons A, who looks furious at seeing you here, and B, who is wearing sunglasses and bopping from left to right, humming to himself and rapping quietly before his brother whacks his head to get him to stop. The ANBU do the same for the Cloud, having no love for the Land of Lightning.

The Raikage speaks up, "I have an announcement. I have fallen ill as of recent, my health on the wane due to my age. As a result, I announce it here that I renounce my claim to the name of Raikage and give it to my son, A." He says and coughs, his son smiling wickedly, "As a result, your duel today is with A." The Jonin from the Leaf all stand up at once and turn to see your reaction, apparently expecting you to charge them and cut them in half.

Remember that we're surrounded by Leaf shinobi; while they don't like the Cloud ninjas, they have no like of the Hidden Mist, either. And fortunately for us, they haven't noticed that our flak jacket is a former Konoha chuunin's.

The thing with our flak jacket being Konoha-pattern isn't too difficult to explain away.
It's already dyed in Hidden Mist colors, and we can just say that we noticed the neckguards that the Konoha ones have, and had one of ours customized to have one. Unless they actually get ahold of our jacket, they can't get confirmation that it was originally a Konoha shinobi's.

As for if the Leaf ninjas recognize the armor...well, they may disapprove of us using it and changing the colors. But they also hate the guy who originally wore it, and the Cloud ninjas, so they might give us a pass on that.

Unless it still has the Land of Whirlpools' symbol stitched into it, which we didn't say we had removed. Although it could be taken on good faith that when we had it modified we did that, since the point was to make it look more Mist Village, or was it just for camouflage? I imagine we would know about the Whirlpool connection, since it is between the Land of Water and Fire. I also imagine it was the Hidden Mist that destroyed them, maybe during the third war. Or maybe it hasn't happened yet. Either way I think it depends on if we were going for Maximum Trolling when we got the jacket.

In other news I think we are well within decorum to reconvene with the other Mist Ninja, to reassess the mission goal, before getting in the ring, maybe with a parting jab about being sanctioned to kill the Sandaime Raikage, not Yondaime (If we want to goad him into the fight).
I don't think this is a feint on his part, he probably really has grown weak, making a prospective fight with him preferred, and maybe even better for the mission. I mean, if Yondaime dies, command returns to Sandaime, and we have killed a powerful ninja, but their more experienced leader remains. I guess it depends on who we see as the more valuable target, and perhaps the more opportune target. Fighting A now /might/ be good, since he is less experienced, but they are confident enough to promote him and send him to us. They could just be underestimating us though.
Anyways, after all this waffling, I think we should target the Third, just because they don't want us to, though I look forward to other input on the point. Also, I don't think we are under any real obligation to fight A if we don't want to, it might look petty to try and argue the point though.

The mission was to assassinate the Raikage because we are tired of Kumogakure's shit and wanted to seriously hurt them. Now, we are presented with an opportunity that may be a better means to that end. It's up to the Seven Swordsmen to decide which course is better, since I doubt we can get in contact with Mei before we have to make some kind of decision. We have Saito, who is a tactician and I bet a bit of a historian, not to mention son of a Mizukage; we have Mangetsu, who is a veteran of the most prestigious group, who serve right under the Mizukage and is no fool; we have Tetsuo, who understands people (genjutsu score). We have the means to make this kind of decision; we are expected to as high ranking Jounin, and leaving without at least one Raikage corpse on the ground is failing the mission.

Still along the lines of provoking the Third (if we choose that course), if he said something about being a man and accepting the challenge in response to us stalling, "I am not merely a man. I am a shinobi, a tool of my village. I fight at the pleasure of my Mizukage, and my life is not my own to pit in a match she did not wish." We could announce that he has dishonored himself by changing the terms of this confrontation, and attempts to have us do the same by accepting. "Did crippling illness really take upon you so fiercely and suddenly, between arranging this meeting and arriving?"
If we wanted to enrage him after a hypothetical A killing: "It seems the rise of The Cloud is at an end. All that remains of their Head Family is a sick, old Raikage who can't even fight his own battles."
Although being enough of an asshole, I don't expect any Leaf ninja to jump in when he tries to murder us.

Like I said, Willow Whisper is our major gamble here if we want to deal with his speed. If we can couple it with a Wind Scroll powered punch we might be able to do enough damage to seal his speed in our first counter-attack.

On a side-note, now that everyone realizes how broke-ass Willow Whisper is, how should we fix it? I'd say instead of an auto-block we make it a competing Taijutsu check since it's based off of our weapon skill. That'd also work as a general rule for weapon maneuvers now that I think about it.
    >> Anonymous 09/27/11(Tue)22:11 No.16447835
While thinking up sick burns to troll the Third is fun, we should probably be figuring out how the hell we are going to actually kill one of them. I don't know the combat rules very well, but I imagine hitting something called Lightning Armor would shock the shit out of you (the wiki article on it doesn't say this though, it just speaks to it being a physical and defensive buff). We have the idea grounding him with water, but it is a high level technique, so we can't expect it to be countered easily; it might discharge the armor, requiring him to refocus it and give us an opening.
Something I like in general for Shimaru is insubstantial clones, cheaper and easier to make than a full water clone, but incapable of doing damage. The standard bunshin would be fine, but it can be seen through by an observant opponent since it doesn't affect the environment. Something like a "mist clone" that has just enough substance to stir the air (since I think the mist not moving around a standard bunshin would be a dead give away) and disturb the ground would be ideal. If someone commits to an attack on one, they are vulnerable to an attack from us; use them in tandem on offense, and they have to dodge an attack coming from multiple directions or risk parrying the wrong one. I imagine a kiribunshin no jutsu would use the same principles as mizubunshin, so I hope we could pull it off without specific training.
Also, I doubt he has any strong perception skills, so I think we should be trying to take full advantage of restricted visibility in the mist. If he can't see us, he can't use his speed to get that alpha strike in, which we both rely on. In fact it might be worth going for an immediate attack, before/while he's trying to perform supplementary jutsu like the lightning armor. If he goes evasive, then we should just set up the mist, since we probably won't be able to catch him, but a preemptive strike might be our best bet.

Do we go for the kill... or do we easily dispatch him (leaving him alive) and then taunt his father into attacking us in anger and leaving the rest of the Seven to just murder the hell out of him.

Here. Here is where we start to agree with him and make some comments towards the Cloud and their cowardice. Might be enough to get the Raikage to want to get this settled with him again. Maybe throw in a tree reference again somehow.

AHA! This is an opportunity. We can make to walk, while still talking shit, trying to get them to attack us outright. We could have the whole seven and Leaf back up as well.

"Might Guy. I am Yamada Shimaru. A non-lethal bout, between professionals, would be...nice.
"However, I was sent here for a one-on-one duel by the Mizukage. Such flagrant disregard for what the Mizukage and Hokage agreed to is...unpalatable to me."

Thin smile and the Green Beast!! "Thank you, Mighty Guy. I would like to take you up on that, I have heard you are the most dangerous man to face in combat." Look towards the three Cloudnin, and shake our head. "It is sad that Ninja degrade themselves like that."

Plan to kill the ex-Raikage on the road when he leaves.

Hmm...what we have to do is get the Cloud to agree to a one-on-one duel again.
Our excuse can be that we were only authorized to risk our own life; we do not have the right to risk the lives of our subordinates in what is supposed to be a private duel.
Our real reason, of course, is that A and B are tag-team experts, and we have nowhere near that level of teamwork yet.

A is clearly fuming and B is content to hop from foot to foot and rap to himself as A smacks him again before the Raikage speaks, "Enough. I won't stand another moment of slander. A second wind has come over me. A, B, get out of the ring, this instant. And you, with the serpent's tongue, get in, right now, we're doing this the way we said." He said and climbed into the ring, rolling his shoulders, his eyes locked onto you and filled with hatred and anger. Asuma turns, "Oh? Feeling better, Raikage-dono? Alright," he points at you, "Get in the ring, we're back on, it seems." He said and walked back to his position as Guy gives you a thumbs up, "Send me a message, I would be happy to honor your youth with a sparring match!"

    Let's rock.

Say softly so only he can hear:

"Since we're in the land of the leaf, I'll be sure to plant a tree over the spot where you die, Raikage-dono."

And now things go poorly and we get ripped. I still think we have no chance against any of them.

"I thank you, Mighty Guy. I hope I am able to indulge you." Turn and face the asshole. "I am glad you have finally decided to face me." And into the ring we shall go.

    fuckfuckfuckfuck

Ok, I think we need to lead with AVATAR OF THE SEA to get rid of the Lightning Armor and then posion bone-strike. Also, continually assessment from the rest of the Seven.

You mean start with the Lightning Rod jutsu?
If the Third starts off with his Lightning Armor, then yeah. He might start off with something else, though.

He grits his teeth and screams out, "I will bury you!!!" Asuma raises his hand and as he does all the ANBU focus their chakra and begin scanning for interference from anyone in the crowd. "Begin." He simply says.

(Ok, Rank+Chakra Sensing to get first action. And you better pray you do.)

Okay. Recap what Avatar of the Sea does, again? Isn't it just a mizu bunshin we wear as armor or something?

Do we even have Chakra Sensing? Does Advanced Chakra Detection give us a bonus? And can Yuki see what's going on?
    >> Anonymous 09/28/11(Wed)00:31 No.16449371
I think we should ask what exactly the tags around the arena do; I hope to be able to grab water from the Seven's gourds. Also say "Leaf, please do not be alarmed if one of my comrades chakra activates for sensory purposes. I assume that is permissible?"

    >>16447835 In fact it might be worth going for an immediate attack, before/while he's trying to perform supplementary jutsu like the lightning armor. If he goes evasive, then we should just set up the mist, since we probably won't be able to catch him, but a preemptive strike might be our best bet.
Was one of my tactical suggestions that may be worth discussing.
