    >Would have done it EARLIER, but I had a batshit neighbor come over and start bitching about a dog I don't have.
    >THREE HOURS OF CONCENTRATED ANTI-LOGIC LATER, I managed to get them to leave by pointing out the posted 'trespassers will be shot sign' they walked by to come fuck with me.

YOU ARE ABBY SMITH. And Liz just passed out right before you got to the important part.

    Again.

Well, this is probably what you deserve for taking so long to get to the damned point. You move a pillow under her so she doesn't wake up with a kink in her neck.

You then exit the room as quietly as you can, and work your way back to your bunk, and another restless night.

    >Back in five.

You are Eliza McAllistair. You wake up the general emergency sirens. Apparently you fell asleep in your cloths, so you're able to respond immediately.

You place a call to the bridge and ask for a status report. Will's voice answers you. "Liz, your core has received a basic refit, and is able to fly. Get to the hangar, get synched up, and get ready to move. I'll brief you on the way." You set off at a brisk job towards the hangar and ask....

    [ ] .... for the sit-rep.
    [ ] .... for core status.

Abby needs to step her game up if she wants to get through the nearly impermeable layer of obliviousness that Liz seems to reside in.

After the third or so time someone cut the lock off our gate to get their ATVs onto our property we went with the standard 'Trespassers Will be Prosecuted' sign, added 'At Long Range' and hung it over a steel plate with some tasty 7mm holes in it.

Haven't had to buy a new lock since.

Given that it's a lance maybe you could counter attack against someone charging you, you'd hit them first and their momentum would really work against them. Also a bonus on damage from higher speeds perhaps. That and in melee combat you have a bonus on determining who is hitting the other first.

"Hey." He says, still soothing, but slightly firmer in tone. "I'm just concerned. Every time you do a hard synch like that, your vital signs go everywhere. If it gets much worse you might have a heart attack or something."

"I'm stressed because a hard synch feels like you're being flayed alive. It's a highly advanced computer brute-forcing it's way into your nervous system. There's a REASON all pilots hate it. It HURTS."

He's quiet for a minute. "I'm sorry. Just trying to help. Are you alright?"

"Yeah." You respond, looking over at your synch rate. Currently at a healthy 49%. "I'll live."

And then you launch from the carrier, and get a look at it with your own eyes. No doubt about it, someone's attacking the base at Galena.

Luckily, they've only had time to destroy the main defenses, and not things like the barracks or the infirmary, so casualties are still low. Not really a Fate reference, while I do like Fate I knew about all of these before watching them being a complete mythology nerd. All 4 of those spears are found in legend.

Wielded by Cuchulainn Gae Bulg is the spear that barbs out once it strikes, can take down sea monsters and depending on the source can only be used with extensive preparation. Not really the best fit though due to it being thrown.

Gae Buide and Derg are used by Diarmuid, details are a bit vague but their wounds were said to never recover.

Luin is a flaming sparking massive lance that when it is about to spill blood must be quenched in venom/blood to not burn the wielder to death. Nasty cursed weapon, kills one person on a thrust regardless of if it hits and nine and at least one king/royal heir/chieftain if thrown.

    LNs are fully translated.
Point is that the anime is far inferior to the VN.
It's not AWFUL but it's not really all that great either.
Especially since they had to follow the Fate route (the most boring route in the whole VN) just to avoid confusing people.

Nah, Gungnir is just overused. I love it but everyone and their uncle names stuff after Norse stuff, it's an awesome naming convention but overdone sometimes. Also there's really only one well known Norse spear, there's two others of Irish ones that I didn't bring up, Lugh's Spear and Gae Assail, which is more badass than gungnir.

There just aren't enough mythical lances.

    >>18931384

You don't try to hide it. She pulls you into her room to give the two of you some privacy. "What happened?"

You tell her. They trained you well, you didn't even hesitate in battle. But now that you don't have an opponent to distract you, it hits you hard.

You remember Ira, always so serious and professional. You were never close, but you both knew you could trust each other in combat. For someone like him, that's high praise indeed.

Greg... Greg was a good friend. You remember the first time you ever met him. He saw that you were depressed over something, and when he found out it was because you had trouble making friends in the Pack and were spending your birthday alone with a book, he cancelled his date and called some of his friends so you wouldn't be alone.

He introduced you to Abby. She starts to cry too. The two of you sit there for a long while mourning the loss of your friends. After a while, she starts to get heavier on your shoulder. You realize she did what you did a few hours ago. Then you remember that she wanted to talk to you about something important.

Well, there's the lesser known Ron or Rhongomyniad, which was wielded by Arthur, but that's not well known at all, it's kinda iffy. Also Ogma's Whip, Ascalon which George used to kill a dragon.

If you want you can go oriental, China and Japan both have a couple, but in this case they're either Halberds or Naginatas so it's a bit iffy. The Green Dragon Crescent blade or Frost Fair Blade wielded by Guan Yu, Zhang Fei's Octane Serpent Spear. Also the Tonbogiri was a naginata that cut a dragonfly that landed on it. Still they don't really fit our aesthetic which is too bad.

You look around, and see that her blanket has ended up under her bed somehow.

You pull it out, and discover that apparently she kept some sort of reading material under there. Also some sort of a... vibrating flashlight? What the hell?

You straighten it out and lay it over her, and at it's touch she seems to snuggle in a little bit more.

Somehow, seeing her fall asleep like that makes you feel better about yourself. You just lost a couple of friends, but the world's still turning. As you exit the room, you see Will approaching.

    "Hey Will."

"Liz. I heard about...." he almost looks like he wants to try and comfort you, but isn't really sure what to do or say.

"Yeah. I sorta accidentally broke the news to Abby a bit ago."

After a moment of the awkwardness, you step in and give him a hug. It surprises him so much that for a good three seconds his arms just sort of stick out straight past you for a good three seconds. Eventually he kinda folds his arms at the elbows and kinda awkwardly hugs you in the most standoffish way possible.

"Thanks Will. I know what you meant, and I appreciate it."

"Uh. No problem?" He kinda pats you on the back with one hand. "I just... losing people is hard."

"Yeah." You decide not to make him suffer any more hug. When you pull away he looks both relieved and oddly disappointed. you let out a deep yawn, and he comments on your lack of sleep and sudden stress, you need to get more rest, and walks you back to your room. With such a keen observant mind, you're glad he's your handler. You aren't sure what you would do without an awkward slightly gaunt underweight young man with glasses pointing out that tired people should get sleep.

You pull him in for a quick hug before you shut the door and slip out of your cloths and into bed. You didn't quite catch the look of emotional turmoil on his face.
